Not to toot my own horn (HUR HUR), but yes, I am one of the two best. One of the seniors has better tone and sightreading abilities than I do, but I am more dedicated and am pretty darn talented as well. It depends on what you mean by "best," really. 3nodding

dude my conductor told me that I should stay to the tuba in his band even though I am a sax. Ive been playin for 6 years so i don't want to stay on the tuba but he said that if I switch then the band rating score will drop at least 50 points. there are only 2 tenor saxes.but there are 2 other tubas

I'm definitely the best in my secsion... But that is because I'm the only one at Repiano Cornet ^^ But of the Rep., 2nd and 3th cornet, I'm the best ^^ But it's six who are beter than me at cornet in the band, and they play 1th/solo cornet and Soprano Cornet ^^

I am the best flutist of my section and being the best has its pros and cons. My BD usual gives me solos and such but other flutist dont like me much b/c im better than they are.

No, but as a bassoonist next year I will be. Mostly because I'll be the only one.

I'm first, but I'm still convinced i suck. neutral I usually don't practice. In the beginning of the school year, I didn't practice the piece of music that was supposed to be played memorized and I ended up third to last. And now...I'm first. I guess practicing helps. sweatdrop

yeah. I'm first chair clarinet in our 8th grade band...was first chair for the last half of the year last year. And then this year I made 11th chair symphonic for All-District. woo.
in 7th grade, there was this girl who played the clarinet for a year or more before I started learning how to play in 6th grade. And she got first chair at the beginning of 7th grade. But I guess when I really pushed myself to practice and to make All-County, I went from 5th chair to 1st in the 7th grade band.
and that praising does get super annoying, especially if you excel in other fields as well...-_-

As far as my band goes, I'm tied for the best. But I'm the one going for the music major. Some of the other sections are way better than me though.

Well, there are only two in my band. But I'm MUCH better than the second chair. She got 95 points lower than me on our auditions.
Of course, I didn't make the top band since he got 65 points ahead of me. ):

My band has had a funny turn of events. It's pretty shameful and it embarasses me a hell of a lot more than it embarasses her.
My best friend in band class is the most amazing flute player I've heard on a high school level, but she's second chair and I'm first chair. I am not the best, but I am first chair. Our band director never moved her once, even though he revised the list at least three times. He sent her to play with a special symphony consisting of all the best players on a high school level in the county. He recognized her at our band banquet.
So why am I first chair? Because the day of our chair test ((and yes she knew it was that day)) she went out and took some ataroll.
And she's the one who was pushing me, saying "Please don't go easy on the test. I want to be SURE I'm really better." And I wanted to know, too. I practiced my tail off; she doesn't have to practice as hard as me. Whatever. She got what she deserves. Well, she's going to a better school starting next school year.
blaugh I love my band

I feel confused/embarrassed to say it..[I'm a Clarinetist btw <3]
but as a matter of fact, I am. It was only this year of 8th grade and about a thousand hours of EFFICIENT practicing over the summer sweatdrop . I finally got into the honor orchestra for all southern [one of the 41 of my middle school that did] this year, sitting at 3rd chair [stupid site reading!] and honor band for all state....my CD was screwed, it got broken on the way up to fresno.
well, first off, no one really noticed that I had improved--there was a huge difference from last year, but once mr. a turned to me and asked me to play my scales, so I did, then he compared it to my current enemy--I had better tone, my bd started spazzing because my hands weren't shaking...and everyone expected EVERYTHING out of me, especially after I made honor orch, and in nov the clarinet seciton knew they couldn't come close to me during the practicce for All State [80 % made the honor band, which is REALLY good] and i caused my bd to fall in love with that piece, he hated it. Then, after all state, everything changed, I lost some respect because of a simple mess up in my CD
but in general, I guess I was the best [my bd did ask me to play a solo piece at our charity event], but believe me, it was hard work getting up there, I hope i'll be one of the top in the arts academy next year
but its very stressful D: sometimes when I want to hear critique--proper critique from my rival I either 1; get rude comments or 2; [this is for my friends and other people] YOU'RE SO GOOD!
so yeah sweatdrop mm my ens is huge, 24 clarinets--40 when combnined with 8th grade
so YES! ITS STRESSFUL! But I love Band <3 sorry that was alot gonk but in general we are tied crying
