Nina perked up and giggled at Raine being startled. "It's just dad." She said, hesitating a moment before getting up from her own bed and helping with the bed. "I can help with lots of things." She said softly, wondering if Raine was one to think the young taur could to nothing more than eat and complain. She seemed so nice though... She had to be a good adult! Especially after agreeing to hunting equipment as her prize for winning.
How had she won anyway...?

"I-I know that." Raine mumbled back though the flush on her face still screamed startled. Raine patted the blankets smooth and grinned over at Nina, "I'm sure you can. I mean you've been a great help already too." Her tail waved happily, "Thank you, Nina."
The wolftaur hummed softly as she finished fixing the bed up. Her song paused as she patted the bed one last time, "Finished~" Raine grinned back at Nina, "Now what should we do?"

Nina giggled again, then grinned proudly. "I like helping." She smoothed a sneaky wrinkle on the corner when the bed was done.
"Now?" She cocked her head, wondering what to do. "Dinner will probably be done soon. We can go make sure he's cooking right!" She laughed.

"And I like being helped." Replied Raine playfully before looking towards the door. "Blake cooking? Oh! We better go make sure then, Nina!" She laughed.
"Come on~" Raine peeked from the doorway before waving Nina over. "We'll sneak up on him." She whispered with a wide grin before leaving the bedroom and heading through the house.

Nina giggled. "He's not too bad, but I'm afraid since you're here now he might try to do something fancy to impress you and mess up." She said quietly as she followed Raine, tail twitching in amusement.
True to Nina's word, Blake was in the kitchen trying to think up something new to do with his limited supplies to impress the newest member of his house. He had gathered some steak, chopped it and put it in a bowl along with some veggies and the last potato he had found in the cellar. Some crusty buns were being warmed over the fire with a damp towel in the hopes of giving some moisture back to them. A half full jar of jelly was already on the table. Now, he sat at the fire in front of the stew, a cup of spice in each hand, wondering which one to toss in. The labels had fallen off some time ago, and he couldn't remember which cup was what spice.

"Oh, really?" Raine grinned lightly at Nina and when she entered the kitchen with Nina the wolftaur had to quell the laughter that rose in her chest. She was right! Raine's eyes gleamed with amusement as she put a finger to her lips and made a motion towards Blake.
Quietly, like she was on a hunt, Raine moved behind Blake. "Whatcha doing, Blake?" She asked loudly at the same time that she looked over his shoulder. Raine sniffed curiously. "Are those spices, hmm...maybe pepper or something?"

Nina crept silently up to Blake on Raine's cue. "Dad!" She squeaked from the male's other side. At what happened next, she bit her lip, trying hard to not fall from her chest shaking from laughter.
Too focused to hear the soft steps behind him, Blake gasped when a voice startled from behind him, his hands flicking as he tensed, both spices tipping into the pot. He stared at the pot for a few seconds as the spices mingled together and sunk into the stew. Then he looked back at Nina, then at Raine.
Suddenly, he grinned. "I hope you like new cuisine adventures."

Raine bit her lip as well, though the tell tale laughter shone bright in her gaze. Especially when she winked at Nina before looking back up to the male wolftaur. "Sorry, did we scare ya?" Raine joked lightly as she patted Blake's shoulder.
Laughter spilled though as she smelled the 'cuisine'. "Oh, do I!" Raine smiled happily, "Just wait til you get a taste of my cooking. I do hope that you guys are okay with your own new 'cuisine adventures'."

Nina put a hand over her mouth to repress more giggles from Raine’s wink. She was funny!
“Startled is more the word.” He said, holding up his nose in mock offense. He too leaned forward, smelling the stew’s new scent. He cocked his head, then raised a brow at Raine. “I hope so, too. It’s what we’ve got till tomorrow.” He shook his head. “Nina, would you get the bowls out and onto the table?”

She smiled as she replied. "Startled, hmm? Alright I'll take that answer." Her nose sniffed again and the wolftaur inhaled the warm steam. It didn't seem to smell bad at all. Hopefully the taste would agree with that.
"Definitely has to work then." Raine nodded as she looked over to Nina, "Want me to help too?" She asked softly, she didn't want to get in the way or just not do anything after all.

Nina spun to get the bowls from the pantry, glancing back at Raine as she opened the door. "Nope. The bowls aren't heavy." She said, clutching tightly to the bowls. Now, she walked extra carefully to make sure she would do it right.
Dumping a bit of sand to cool the fire, Blake twitched his nose, thinking quickly to calm the question in Raine's tone. "You could grab the cups from the pantry over there." He said, pointing. "Actually, grab the glass ones at the top. The is a special occasion after all."

"Alright." Raine shrugged her shoulders lightly. She couldn't help but to smile at Nina's extra carefulness. That smile grew into a bright one at Blake's suggestion. "Alright, I can do that." The wolftaur's heart jumped at the words special occasion and she couldn't help but to flush lightly.
It was nice of him to say that.
Raine didn't know though if she should argue about her coming being such a special occasion. But to her it really was. As she reached for the glasses and moved to place them on the table, Raine really realized how thankful she was for being taken in like this.

Nina looked up in surprise and delight, the bowls clapping as they dropped forgotten onto the table. "The glass cups?! Do I get one too?" The glass cups were hardly ever brought down! And she hadn't been allowed to use one yet. Maybe since she was nearly a teen...
Smiling warmly, pleased he could bring such a smile to Raine's face, his head snapped over at the clatter of bowls, relieved to see them simply set on the table instead of dropped. "Careful with those, Nina!" He gave the bowls a look before sighing. "Yes, you can have one too. You'll have to be more careful with it than you were with those bowls though." He scolded gently, pleased as she nodded and resumed putting the bowls in their places. "So, Raine. I believe we require three glass cups." He chuckled when he realized she had already grabbed three and was waiting to put them onto the table.
"I think we're about ready then." Putting a thick cloth at the center of the table, he took the small cooking pot off the low fire and placed it on the towel. "Refills are self-serve." He said, filling each bowl carefully with stew.

"Alright." Raine grinned as she started on the stew and gave a wink to Blake. "It turned out just fine, Blake." She commented with faint humor. It really did taste good. Her fingers clutched at the glass cup as she rose it to take a sip. Odd how in just one day she already felt at home.
Raine never even realized how quickly the time would pass...

Morning sunlight flickered in through the trees as Raine finished shaking out the last of the laundry. A soft hum accompanied the wolftaur as she folded everything on the line and began to place them in the basket. That done she began to look around, 'Seems like I'm finished now.' Raine smiled and headed back indoors.

 The crisp morning air was silent in the woods, save for a for a few birds singing softly. The only disturbance was a steady beat that steadily grew. A flash of brown fur was making the noise. Nina, now a teen on the brink of adulthood, ran eagerly from her morning hunting grounds, a string of rabbits flapping against her side. It had been a good morning.
As soon as she reached the clearing the house rested in, she howled happily. "Raine! Raine, look!" She hollered, stuttering to a walk before untying the prey and throwing open the door. "I've got tonight's dinner!" She gasped, face beaming proudly.
