The earphones on the OptiX eyepiece crackled with static, and he heard Dalvar's intonation... but that was it. Nothing else, just static.
Sharad cursed and pulled the headset off, shaking it vigorously. Nothing. "Damnit..." he cursed under his breath. They were cut off from communications, and his field partner was possessed.
How did he know? He had told everyone except Pent that Ginji had forged his Gust Blades... but Pent, and Ginji himself, knew that Sharad had done the actual forging. Sharad preferred to keep it in the dark... and for once, his secretive ways had proved useful.
"All right, Pent..." he said, keeping with the ploy. "We need to get to the control room.
Unknown to Pent, Sharad slipped a hidden switch on his eyepiece, activating the mini-video feed on the holographic lens. He would have instant displays on GiB's mainframe video. He smiled and got himself ready for the eventual confrontation.

'Hmm... no linky then? Well we had better head back to HQ and find out what went wrong.' Pent/Draxio said, needing an excuse to infiltrate the Headquarters, 'Oh, and your hack is done downloading the logs...'

Sharad smiled. "Thanks, Pent..." he said warily, turning and pulling his USB stick from the mainframe and navigating.
He would stall him as long as possible. He didn't want to have to... decommission... his best friend...
He sighed and kept typing in commands, delaying the inevitable.

Sitting in the chair as Sharad finished up the hack Draxio/Pent began to get a little annoyed at the lack of progress in getting to HQ, in a small slip of Draxio's control, Pent carfully grabbed a small vial, a sample of the injection that had weakened him enough for Draxio to take over.

He wrapped his fingers slowly around the handles of his Glocks.
