With a sigh Zebra walked off towards her tree, concern still etched on her face. 'Just a dream, huh..? Even I know that dreams can be dangerous in themselves... Not to mention if a bad dream comes true,' she thought as she seated herself on the small stone bench under her tree, relieving herself of her burden that was her bow and placing it carefully under the bench.
Pushing the uneasy thoughts aside, Zebra now sat quietly, replaying the night's events over in her head yet not truly thinking much of it. No, her main focus was with what may be ahead. Were there more like Uke..? Would they stumble upon another whilst they staked out the city..? And if they did come across such a beast, what then..? These were questions that clearly troubled the timid creature. Shaking her her head dolefully, she quickly quieted the thoughts. Zebra was getting nowhere, she just went from one worrying thought to the other. Was there nothing to look forward to?
With a deep sigh and some amount of effort, Zebra stood. A barely visible glimmer of colourful light surrounded her as she took on the aspect of a possum. One would only notice the dim glow if they payed some real attention, otherwise she just looked normal to anyone who gave a passing glance, and it was near impossible to make out the shapes of the ever changing ethereal light. That didn't matter to Zebra, though, the shape of the claws and the creature's physique were in her head and she knew how to use it to her advantage. This was another aspect that she had learned almost to perfection, and she always found it so very helpful for climbing such a steep and tall tree such as the one she favoured.
Suddenly leaping onto the side of the great oak tree, she scaled it by leaps and bounds in barely even a second. Finally, she lay down to rest on her favouite bough, the sun trickling in through the leaves as she fell into a deep and dreamless sleep.

Eilov walked through the shadows following the shapeshifter to a bough where it started to take a nap. "Shapeshifters, I never will understand why they enjoy the change so..." He quietly contemplated as the sun pierced the shadows around him bathing him in a light that would disintegrate any lesser vampire, but he was of drow and cambion blood, so while he had no joy for the light it brought him no more than a small discomfort. "Father I do so thank you for this blood, a vampire that walks in the daylight. I am quite the abomination."

After waiting some time Eilov made his way over to the shapeshifter, "Awaken, for I beckon to you to rise from your slumber. I have need of interaction. Do not worry I mean you no harm."

"Mmn..? Just a few more minutes..." said Zebra as she reluctantly awoke from her sleep. Sleepily rubbing her eyes, she was suddenly aware of the dark figure looming over her. She froze as her heart skipped a beat and panic ensued inside her head, 'He said no harm, right..? Right.?! Oh please tell me this is a dream..!'
"
Wh-who are you..?" she asked nervously, barely even managing to get the words out in a whisper.

Sapphirianna happened to glance over at Zebra and found some shadow lurking over her. Oh great. She got to her feet and went over to the trunk of the tree. She looked up and had to squint her eyes against the sun. Her drow eyes had never gotten used to the surface sunlight. It stung, but it felt good to her. It meant that she was awake and alert.

"What the heck are you?" She frowned, "Ah, no, that was rude. Who the heck are you?"

"Ah yes, it is current custom to introduce oneself nowadays." With a bow, "I am Eilov Rukanyyr, a pleasure to meet both of you." Facing the fellow drow, "To answer your first question I am born of blood both drow and demonic. In addition I am a vampire." Seeing that the last part seemed to change the mood of the situation, "my blood is a saving grace that removes my fear of sunlight. As I told the shapeshifter I mean no harm only conversation..."

"Ah, drow blood, I see. I am Sapphirianna, full drow blood, with no complete interest in learning my true bloodline." Sapph nodded and smiled slightly at Zebra. "If you need any help, just call, okay? I'll be by my wall." She turned to walk over to the east wall.

"Ah o-okay, I will, thanks Sapphire..." Zebra replied a bit nervously as she sat up and dangled her legs over the side of the large bough. "So um, Eilov..? Wh-why do you wish to speak with me..?"

"Ah, I do believe that it is customary for you to introduce yourself? Regardless, I wish to discuss your shapeshifting ability, in particular, how you came to possess it? By which I mean was it a natural ability, a spell or curse, or some item that you possess?"

Keenan decided it was time to work. There was always some sort of fun junk-wagon for her to work on in the shop, and this time, it was a 1953 GMC pickup. It was all she could do to prevent a fangril squee.
Finishing her cup of coffee, she picked up the dog, and headed down the hallway. At the window, she stopped. Who was this guy talking to Zebra? Could the truck wait?
She supposed it could if he was new here, she might as well meet him, and if he was a dangerous stranger, she might as well kick him out. After a moment of thought, Keenan decided to go to her shop to get a prybar... just in case.

With the small dog in one hand, the prybar in the other, she went outside and greeted the stranger.

"Ah, r-right..! Sorry, how rude of me..! My name is Zebra Zahara, though everyone just calls me Zebra," she said hurriedly, obviously embarrassed. "As for my ability... Well I guess you saw the light then? Since I haven't known my body to ever actually transform as such," said Zebra as she started to fidget with her hands. It wasn't often that she had to explain her abilities, it wasn't often that she had to explain anything. "I'm afraid that I ah, don't really know much about it. I know nothing of my origins, o-only that I've been alone since I can remember. This ability was something that seemed to just gradually appear. Perhaps I was born with it..? I don't know..."
As the last words trailed off, Zebra suddenly noticed Keenan, waving reassuringly she thought, 'My goodness, I swear I've never had this many people visiting my tree in a single day.'

"ROWF!" Ura said waging his tail and licking her hand. It was some thing he felt like doing he did not know why. He saw the stranger and his tail promply between his legs and he growled. Then he wimperd and hid his head in her arm.

"Ah yes, I did wonder about that." Pulling a small book out from a pocket and flipping through a few pages, he read one particular page and then put it back. "Quite interesting, according to my knowledge you shouldn't even exist. You see, your breed was wiped out centuries ago by a demonic inquisition. My dear, you are the polar opposite of a vampire. I can't explain how you live in this day and age but I can explain your abilities." Noticing that the hybrid had approached and posed no threat Eilov continued, "This light you see is positive energy, it disintegrates your normal form and rebuilds it with another. Instead of traditional vampires your race had no need for blood, but you still need mortals to survive. Unconsciously people carry small fragments of dreams from the previous night in their subconscious, these fragments do nothing at all you subconsciously pull out these fragments and your body utilizes them as a form of sustenance. This has no negative effects on the mortal and the fragments replace themselves each day. Other than that you should have above average strength, speed, or hearing if not now than you may have yet to grow into them, or your somewhat solitary nature has influenced your development. I do suggest you hide this from any full blood demons that you may encounter, they may remember the inquisition as well as I do. Ah yes, if you have any questions, pick the petals off this black rose and I will come to you." And with that Eilov took his leave, a single black rose lay before Zebra Zahara...

Sapphirianna couldn't sleep. The memory of the dream lingered in her mind like a hawk hanging around the mouse's nest. It haunted her thoughts. She couldn't escape the depth of its meaning. She had not been forgotten. Assassins were after her.

She paced alongside her wall, tracing the cobweb-like cracks in the wall, just as she had the day before. The constant motion soothed her jagged nerves. She was worried. Worried that her unnatral behavior would attract unwanted attention. It had already tipped off Zebra, and sooner or later, Twi would notice, then the chain reaction would spread, and she'd have everyone worried. She frettfully yanked the flower out of the ground and examined the purple-black petals. That was it. She knew who would come after her. The memory of the name hovered in the back of her brain. The Shadow Prince. Shado'ar the assassin, the bounty hunter who had never failed at elimanating his target. And now she would be his next victim.

"That was weird." Keenan lifted one eyebrow as she said this. She had just blinked and he was gone. Nothing but a rose left behind.
"I didn't think he was malicious or anything though." She added. Nothing seemed really out of place when he was here, and his facial features told her that he believed everything he said. To his knowlege, he meant no harm.
"Do you want the mutt," she asked, scratching his little head between the ears, "or do you want me to let him run around in the shop for a while?"
