"R-r-right." he stammered, shuffling his feet into view and revealing the plain pair of blue jeans he was wearing, scuffing a tennis shoe on the shined floor while keeping his eyes on it. "Quite the party here, huh?"

"A-almost like some sort of Halloween Homecoming, don't you think?"
the boy gave a shy smile and lifted his head slightly, his shoulders still slightly ducked into an awkward posture. "I. Um." he paused to take a deep breath, closing his eyes and relaxing. With his eyes still closed, he said clearly, "My name's Riddel. Nice to meet you." he gave a slight nod of his head and then opened his eyes back onto the dance floor, the many couples, singles, and groups there were with a bit of nervousness, seeming overwhelmed by the mere sight. "Wh-what's yours?" he went back to stammering, seeming to freeze with his eyes still on the large crowd.

"Hah, i suppose so. Heh...High school."
Austin flashed back fondly on all his chaotic years in Oak cliff, then came back to the dance floor when asked his name.
"I'm Austin, Riddel, Austin Gonzales. Nice to meet you."
Austin offered his hand warmly, offering Riddel a handshake; he seemed like a nice enough guy. Sure, a bit shy, but that was understandable.
After shaking Riddel's hand, Austin's gaze shifted back to the crowd, seemingly searching for someone.
"You decide to come stag too, or are you waiting on someone?"

A second girl appears from the shadows lloking the exact same as Luna. "Well" smirks "This should be a fun time shouldnt it" She is wearing a long black robe with a blood red cape that covers two sheaths under her dress. "Let's have a party" smiles and she walks over to the two boys Austin and Riddel. "Well hello there" smiles "And how are you gentleman doing tonight?"

Riddel seemed genuinely grateful for the handshake and the conversation, grinning a bit shily and placing one hand on the back of his head as if embarrassed about something. At the mention of a possible date, he froze and shrugged a little, not even bothering to hide his feeling behind a fake casualness. "No... no, I'm not waiting on anybody. It just didn't seem like a good night to stay behind in the dorms." With a nervous gulp he added in a lower tone, "Besides, some of those things from the haunted house creeped out into the upper levels of the dorms.."

In the back of his mind, he shuddered. A creepy old man with a camera had been taking pictures of the door of the girl who roomed across from him... all last night...

".. A-a-anyway!" Riddel snapped back to the present and resumed his stammering. "What about you?! You waiting for anyone in particular!?"

"Calm yourself, man. There's no need to be nervous."
Austin shifted his feet slightly, looking off to the punch table for a moment before returning his attention to Riddel.
When he mentioned that some 'things' from the haunted house had crept into the dorms, Austin couldn't help but grin and laugh a bit; he had long since moved out of the dorms, and thus, was no longer victim to the many antics and goings-on at the school. Now that HE wasn't someone it could happen to, it was, indeed, a bit funnier.
When Riddel inquired about Austin's own date, Austin shifted his feet slightly again.
"Nah, i'm not exactly waiting for anyone myself. I'm kinda here for the same reason; lack of a better plan this evening."

At the suggestion of being calmer, Riddel's face grew somber and slightly embarrassed, but he didn't blush. He just sighed and nodded, looking back up to try and see where Austin was looking around at.

"O-oh.." he said quietly, and then shrugged slightly. "Well,... that sucks."

Riddel eased his hands into his jean pockets, head still ducked. A bit awkwardly, he shifted his weight.

"So.. um.. this party.. what exactly are we supposed to do now that we're here?"

The boy looked up at the sound of a voice and blinked and started stammering as he realized a girl was talking to him. "I.. uh.. I.. Austin.." he said, eyes fixated on the girl addressing the boys.

She looks slightly confused and then smiles. "Well I guess the girls were wrong then, they told me your were Riddel and he was Justin" She points to the boy standing next to him "But its nice to meet you all the same. Im assuming your both from the campus?"

Noticing Riddel's reaction to Austin's suggestion, Austin couldn't help but feel a bit bad.
"I'm sorry, man, I didn't mean it like that. You just seem a bit...shaken, and it unnerves me a bit. That's all."
Austin smiled earnestly at Riddel, patting the side of his shoulder lightly with the flat of his hand to reassure him.
"Well, we could-"
Interrupted, Austin followed Riddel's gaze, and noticed a girl behind him, addressing the two of them. He turned calmly and responded.
"Hey there, how's it going?"
Austin hadn't expected anybody to approach him; maybe it was Riddel she was after?

"I.. uh.. I..." he stammered, looking at the mysterious girl with a flabbergasted expression. "It's.." he said, looking between her and Austin, seeming at a loss for words.

"Um..."

(( Sorry for the horrid size. Tired and crashing. ))

She turns to Austin "Truthfully" Smirks "This party is beginning to bore me. The person I was training with came for a blind date things, so I decided to tag along." She looks around "Never saw so many non-vamps in a room in my life." She turns to Austin "No offense."

"Sounds like you hang with a tough crowd."
Something glinted in Austin's eyes for just a moment, disappearing as quickly as it had appeared. It was bloody in nature, and somehow curiously challenging in it's presence.
"I'm not one for parties, myself; I'm only here because it's the first event Ria's had in a while. For lack of conversation, it's not a terrible gathering; but It's not something i'm really into."

Phae found herself wandering towards the refreshment table again. Her butt was starting to become sore from sitting in the seat for so long. She glanced back at it and found some boy sitting in it. Oh well. She'd find another spot.

She looked through the refreshments to see if there were any that she wished to try. Her eyes grew huge as they noticed something in the middle of the table. It was cheesecake! Not only was it cheesecake but pumpkin flavored. She could almost feel the drool falling out of her mouth. She loved cheesecake, and she loved pumpkins. The two of them together was nothing short of a miracle.

There was just one problem. The cake was in the middle of the table and she was to short to reach it. She groaned inwardly. She could avoid the cake or ask for help. She debated her odds and realized that the cake looked too good to avoid. It wasn't like asking for help suddenly meant you were best friends with someone, right?

"Can someone help me? I can't reach the cake."

Austin heard a cute, faint voice off in the distance asking for help. Looking off for a moment to see who it was, he noticed a shorter woman trying to reach the cake, and, not finding the woman he was talking to right then very interesting, he bade her a short "Good evening", and made his way over to Phae. Since food was his expertise, at least he would get a glance at the spread, if the woman turned out to be a snob of some manner.
"Need help?"
It was obvious she did, since that's what she JUST SAID, but he felt he should ask anyway.

Phae glanced at Austin. It had to be a male. Somehow she attracted them like flies to a dead carcass. She wished a female would have answered. They usually weren't quite as interested.

"Yeah. Can you help me get some of that cheesecake?" Her voice was cool, though she was trying very hard not to be snobbish. She just didn't want to sound overly friendly either. She brushed back a long strand of black hair and kept her violet eyes facing forward.

Austin pushed aside some dishes and pulled the cake tray across the table, so that it was within comfortable reach for Phae to cut herself a slice. He replaced the excess dishes where the cake tray had once stood, then backed away from the table, leaving Phae be. He wasn't sure what vibe it was he felt off of her, but it made him need to put some distance between the two of them. He moved a few steps down the table, checking out the multiple topped dishes with ladles poking out of the lip. After a second had passed, he took a casual glance at Phae, observing her and her mannerisms slightly.
