Caleb remained silent throughout the two descriptions, his expression changing from interest to vauge puzzlement at points, and back.
"I was Evine-born, one of very few. So, well, you can see what i have grown up amongst by looking out the window."
The door behind the group hissed open, and three sets of footsteps entered.
"Ah, this is D'Nyz," Caleb smiled as the group turned, "and Tomias, the final member of your cell, so far at least. His arrival was somewhat delayed because of the Eq. North situation."

Tomias clopped through the door, head turning as his gaze shifted wildly about the room. His deer-like ears flicked about slightly before perking up forward toward the group of what appeared to be misfits. He was without all of his equipment and tools, which made him rather jumpy - well, more jumpy than usual.
He paused, gazing at the group before sidestepping behind D'Nyz, hind quarters spinning around to appear the other side of the man unknowingly. His glossy tail flicked once as he picked his feet up high, fidgeting uncomfortably about.

As the door hissed open, the young woman snapped up from her world of inner struggles. She turned, studying the new comer. "Harmless-looking enough, she said breathlessly, her eyes gently flickering from him, back to Caleb.

Tomias leant around D'Nyz, peering at the group from safety. His fluffy ears were perked, although his right seemed to twitch and flick about a lot, perhaps from anxiety or merely just a random happenning within Tomias' brain.
No matter what was going around his brain, Tomias seemed intent on the human-looking girl - well, he supposed she was a girl. She had murmured something, but even his ears couldn't pick up the exact words.

Calebs comment about being one of few Evine born natives was something of note. It was a piece of information not obvious in his earlier perusals of the data streams regarding Evine. Something to look into as most deffenitely part of a greater puzzle.
The unexpected sound of "clopping" surpised Snap out of his stream of thought for a moment though the only outward sign was a moments tensing of certain muscles.
He slowly turned to bring his full attention to the newcommers. The first question that came to mind was how that one would be able to negotiate climbing. The physical aspect did not phase him though it was a surprise none the less.
Snap noted the skittishness of the one newcomer, like that of a rock hopper caught out on the open plateau.

After a while Tomias bravely took a step from out behind D'Nyz, leaning around to see more of the group. He warily studied the dark being, ears flicking nervously back and forth, before his eyes moved on to study each of the figures. He quickly came up with name labels in his mind and, judging by appearance, whether they were a threat to his work and equipment.
There was the human, the dark demon, the little human demon, and the spiky-haired devil. He rather liked the names he had come up with, although he daren't utter a word, for fear of them making a move on him.

Hewitt's gaze flickered between the newcomers, eventually deciding to rest on the centaur. He had to suppress a giggle as Tomias tried and failed to hide himself behind the one Caleb had called D'Nyz.
Maybe he ought to say something? But Tomias didn't seem to be particularly anxious to greet them either, and D'Nyz was...quite intimidating to the small boy.

This Tomias would bear keeping a watch out for more so than the others Snap thought to himself. It was nearly always the cowards who turned out to be the largest liability. Selfish individuals were at least predictable and could be guarded against. Biggots were easily predictable in their actions and reactions. Cowards were just too unpredictable in any situation that was stressful to them as their thought processes became muddled by fear.
He didn't think that Caleb would purposefully mix in such an obvious liability into the group. So there could be one of several reasons for including this Tomias in the group. Calab was putting them all to the test. Tomias was just acting the part but his body language had no subtle nuances to it, he was an open book. Tomias had some skills of note that made the risk of using him in any endeavor worth the risk.
Yes, he would give this fellow the benefit of the doubt but Snap would still keep him is the "Known Hazzard" catagory for now.

Now D'Nyz thier "Floor master was it?" was just as intimidating in person as the database portrayed him to be. He reminded Snap of an ex-SpaceMarien Sargent he had worked with a dozen or so worlds back. His body language was all business, discipline and reserved power just below the surface.
This was a person to be respected if not feared by the unwise, though the actions of Tomias spoke volumes as well about his trustwortyness.

Great looming D'Nyz answered Snap with no more than a slight nod, before he placed a slightly battered-looking container, about the size of a smallish shoebox, down on the desk next to Caleb.
Beaming, the blonde youth opened the box, revealing...
Nothing awfully exciting, actually. Fairly low-tech looking visor-style eyewear. He lifted one out, and held it up for inspection.
"They're nothing hugely fancy or high-tech: just good, old-fashioned units for voice and visual communication. Now, this isn't an indication of what everything here is going to be like. Over the years, many, many things have been tried... but these have been settled upon because, unlike some of the more impressive systems, the simply technology is very difficult to track in the background communications rabble, the units themselves are easy to dispose of and destroy, unlike the implants which were being trialled for a while there --" he indicated a small scar just beneath the bony lump behind his ear. "-- That was two masters ago, while the sectors were divided up differently. We almost lost a tower after a cell were captured.
"Er. Certain female Tower denizens have insisted that we produce a variety of colours... so feel free to take your pick... I really don't understand it, but they insisted..." He replaced the one his was holding in the box, drawing out another pair. He moved out of the focus of the group, to speak with Hewitt. "I think these will better fit you, though," he said, handing them to him. They were mirrored white, and noticeably smaller than the others.
D'Nyz gestured for Tomias to join the group. "The sound is conducted through the bone behind your ear," he rumbled. The futher implication in the statement was, obviously, that this was why there were no earpieces, and that they should not be alarmed by it. His attention drifted to Snap. "Your eyes?" he asked. Again, the whole question was perfectly clear: did Snap see in the correct spectrum to use the display.
((Brain... notworking...))

Flynn_MacCallister D'Nyz attention drifted to Snap. "Your eyes?" he asked. Again, the whole question was perfectly clear: did Snap see in the correct spectrum to use the display. "Are in perfect health." Snap answered in a conversational tone as if there was no subtext to the question asked. His body language was obviosly relaxed but also conveyed a subtext of something best not answered in general company. With that he stepped over and pulled out a matte black unit and looked it over to see how its was worn while stepping back to leave room for everyone else to pick one out. After making sure of how it would fit on he placed them on the desk beside him. Snap then reached up and undid the catches on his welders goggles and placed then on the desk beside the headset which he then carefully picked up and placed into position. Mussingly too himself "A little loose fitting but I think I can retrofit a strap so that they won't come flying off at an inappropriate time. I just hope theis thing won't give me a headache." Those watching closely and not distracted by the contents of the box or the pressence of D'Nyz, would have noted that Snap kept his eyes closed during the whole process. The welders googles looked just like the off the shelf heavy duty units used when working with plasma, arc or laser machienery in a metals shop.

'"I think these will better fit you, though," he said, handing them to him. They were mirrored white, and noticeably smaller than the others.'
Hewitt accepted the headset from the larger hand, turning them over and over in his hands as he inspected them. Eventually, he found them too his liking, especially the choice of a white finish. He glanced up to D'Nyz and nodded his appreciation, though he wasn't quite sure the floor master was looking.
Hewitt hooked the pair over his ears, and was pleased by the near perfect fit. He could feel the slight pressure behind his ears, more than would a normal set of eyewear give. He would enjoy figuring out exactly how they worked.

Tomias flinched at the slight gesture from the scary man in front of him, not bothering to hide it with a following movement to make it seem as if he had moved on purpose. He hesitated, took a few steps forward and then proceeded to move very cautiously through the group, feeling rather tall amongst them.
His height enabled him to see the contents of the box quite easily without being very close and moving his head too much. Slowly clopping forward he reached out a hand, his body stooping down closer to it and lifted a rather dark looking headset. He studied it for a while, his tail flicking to the side and almost catching Snap's side; his attention on other things.
A hint of a smile appeared on Tomias' lips, the corners of his mouth flickering upward in a smile as he saw how it worked. He wouldn't have to take it apart to understand it, although how the sound system worked he didn't approve. It would hurt his delicate and sensitive ears with prolonged use. He would have to adapt it with his own technology. Not that he'd let anyone see any of it. His work was very secret, well, he liked to think it was.
It was then his gut turned in a slight bout of fear. What if someone was reading his mind? They'd know that he was going to adapt it. He cleared his mind, fast. Don't think about what you'll do. Yes, that's it. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts were always good.

"I am glad to hear," D'Nyz replied to Snap.
Caleb was watching Tomias, chewing his bottom lip. The centaur was absolutely an open book. He knew that Nixie would complain... but that was irrelevant. Nixie did not really need to have anything to do with him. He was fairly sure that Tomias and Andre would get along well enough.

The sole girl in the group stood back and watched the others.
Arien looked at the box, various unimpressive technological devices sitting on top of each other looking similar to each other. She fingered a red one, but decided on a blue one instead. Red was too ... well. It was a fighting color. Blue was soft and more classical...
She took the object and stood up, methodically turning it around in her hands, and then putting it on. It seemed bulky to her, but perhaps that would change the more she used it.
