Seraphim turned his head to look for the source of the noise, only to sigh, holding Cinna closely. He had guessed that the wolf would scare her, not that he really cared. It looked more like it wanted to chew the cloaked figure to shreds than any of the pae at the party. He had seen far worse in dragnid. He pondered reacting like the rest of the pae, but then he decided against it. There was likely no one there that was watching him anymore so there was no point in it. It was like that time Jazz had found out about him, or close enough. He just didn't care anymore.

(( Sorry, really short post. I didn't mean to miss the last prompt, and didn't know how to respond to this one ))

((combo response <<))
Carter frowned and held onto elvis, watching as everyone angrly bombarded the hooded figure with questions. He was a bit...too in shock to really even think straight at the moment.

"daddy, they'll be ok right?" Elvis peeped, looking up at carter as he held onto his pants leg with a firm grip, as if he too was afraid of disappearing. carter looked down at him for a long moment, seemingly choosing his words carefully before petting his hair. " They'll be allright, We'll find them." He whispered. In a sense he agreed that the best course of action was to stay put and organize themselves before rushing off and running around like mad men.

It was then that he heard a crash and a howl that pierced his ears. Elvis cried out and clung to carter even more, hiding his face in his caretaker's pants leg. " Daddy!" He cried and carter quickly scooped him up into his arms, tensing and eyeing the wolf angrily, as if daring it to do something. He'd do do anything to keep elvis safe.

Jazz looked to the wolf after it came in. What in the world was that? She just didn't understand... and so she froze staring about the spot where it was. Her mind was racing to try and figure out all of this.

Anna-Maria looked to the wolf and was a bit stunned. She never seen one of those before. What was it doing there? Was this all a part of the party after all? She didn't really know. She looked back at the faun she was with and nodded.

((I'm going to post as well as I can. *playing catch-up as she shakes her fist at her busy life*))

Apsen was taken back by everything that was going on. He saw the cloaked figure, then the wolf, what was going on? He stood in front on Takeko and the other girl and frowned. He was not going to let anything happen to them. Sure, his power was water-plant control...not very helpful, but who cared, he would do his best to whatever he had to do.

Cinna didn't really want to find Aysu, but she wondered what Noel would think? She hadn't tried to talk to either since the incident.

The man came in and then the wolf, "What?" She wasn't too scared, but she held onto Phim anyway. She knew that even if he didn't always show affection, he wouldn't let someone other than him hurt her.

"Oh, Seth! We'll find her." Karma said as she touched his shoulder. She wasn't about to say Fate would find a way, as that didn't always work in these situations. Instead she said a small prayer to to Fate to herself: Please, bring back all the pae and make sure they aren't harmed.

"Let's go help." Woobie went to Seth and Karma. "Pastela is gone and we have to find her." He said as the black-cloak talked and then the wolf entered. He was frowning, this was all too weird and he knew weird!

For her part, she didn't see Saffron, then or now. Before, he hid so she had no chance to know him. Now, her goals lied with the cloaked pae not with someone who was not addressing her. The demon she dismissed earlier, king of the goodies decided to speak with her. Giving a light snort she asked dismissively, "Who is being hostile? The wolf already left." For her, this wasn't hostile; no one had been hit or killed yet so she counted that as very calm.

Forward action was a lot better then hiding and waiting for answers, as far as she was concerned they were all being counterproductive. Staring hard at the shadow figure, the pae debate on if her shield would do well to hold him in but dismissed the idea entirely. No use putting her powers to his use.

Keeping herself in front of the crowd, she'd let no one stand between her and the figure.

The cloaked figure had remained silent since his last comment, but he was far from withdrawn from the situation. The primary reason for his momentary reaction of defeat was disappointment in himself. He'd failed to arrive in time. He'd failed to prevent this from happening. Even so, that was no reason that he couldn't help fix the situation.

However, his patience was wearing thin with the group of Pae'il before him. Certain members were tempting him to leave them to figure out and fix this mess themselves. Doubtful that they could. It would only end in greater disaster, he knew; but at the same time, it was still tempting, if only to teach them a lesson about manners and keeping arrogance in check.

It was no small wonder he chose to keep to himself, even when not on his personal mission.

"If you would allow me a moment to explain, I'll be happy to prove that I'm not a useless wanderer," he snapped, aiming a pointed look at the woman he'd nearly shouted at before the wolf had arrived. "It's too late now to prevent the disaster I'd hoped to avoid, so a few more minutes aren't going to make a difference."

He eyed the pushy, young female Pae, mirroring the hostility she'd directed towards him and the other Pae'il gathered around. "Hostility takes many forms, child. Do you honestly believe that your snarling at me is any different than the growling of that wolf? In fact, by shoving innocents aside, I'd say you've actually shown us more hostile intent than that hungry beast. I would suggest that you learn to contain your temper when dealing with others, lest you end up butting heads with someone far beyond your league one day." The figure shifted slightly, movement only emphasized by the shifting of the cloak. His stance was still strong, hood downturned as if glaring at the young woman, though his eyes remained hidden. "For your own safety and out of the goodness of my own heart, I'd also recommend that you not underestimate this wolf...nor any others. You're dealing with forces you can't possibly understand."

Still, the actions of a few were no reason to punish the innocents in the rest of the group. He turned slowly, facing the young Faun. The cloaked figure seemed to relax a bit, one arm raising towards the teen. While still unseen, the teen would feel a strong hand, if just a bit rough to the touch, squeezing his shoulder gently. "Don't worry, kid," he muttered, the hint of a reassuring smile in his voice, "I intend to. We'll get your mom back." Almost as an after thought, he glanced towards the odd angel with head wings. "I apologize then for my reaction. I was merely disappointed that my worst fears were confirmed. I was too late to prevent this disaster, however, it's not yet too late to remedy it."

With that, he took his leave from the small group, taking a note from the demon shouting from a distance, and crossing to a table to climb on. Better to address the crowd from a higher point. Height meant a stronger position, an advantage over a foe. Even if not conscious of it, by instinctual reaction, the other Pae'il should look up to him in a leadership position if he addressed them from such a platform, rather than on the floor with the rest. At least it couldn't hurt. While he'd moved with silence before, either he decided that such care was no longer needed...or he was frustrated enough to have let such a long-lived, instinctual practice slip. Whichever it was, a soft clip-clopping sound followed his steps across the room, twin, sharp sounds echoing as he leapt nimbly onto a tabletop.

"AHEM. If I could have everyone's attention please? I'd like to shed a little light on the situation." Then quietly, almost to himself, he added, "What little light there may be, given the situation..." He sighed, waiting until the crowd fell silent and turned to face him. Then, his explanation began. "I...am a hunter. I have come here tonight tracking a dangerous beast. A creature...known in legend as a 'WerePae.'" Normally, some might laugh at his explanation. However, given the situation, he felt that no one in the room would exactly be inclined to laugh.

"The creature is a wild beast, both dangerous and intelligent. For this reason, he is an Alpha, and under his command are a number of angry wolven spirits, for every Alpha needs a pack to lead. He draws these spirits to him from all corners of the world; they are full of fury and look to him for guidance. On their own, they have little power, but with his direction and leadership, they are capable of much more. As spirits, they have only one power...to possess the bodies of the living..."

Something...wasn't right. Having caught sight of something odd, Takeko broke away from her mate and friends, rushing towards that something to investigate. As she neared, she slowed, taking the last few steps hesitantly towards the spot the wolf had stood minutes before. She sank to the floor on her knees, reaching out and grasping at something. A handful of pine needles...dyed blue-purple...and sticky with tree sap. Her eyes widened, understanding dawning upon the angel mixed with horror.

"Faroth..."

While all the other Pae'il had stilled to listen to his message, the hunter's eyes locked on the lone moving Pae, tracking her movements and her discovery. He sighed softly, head nodding slowly as she put the pieces together. "I see at least one of you has made the connection. The spirits possess the bodies of the living, yes, but in doing so, they also warp the forms of their hosts, mirroring the spirit within. That wolf...was once a Pae'il...one of the twelve now missing. The other eleven possessed Pae...I could only guess at their current whereabouts."

"I arrived too late to stop the Alpha and his spirits," he continued grimly, "However, it is not too late to save your friends and loved ones. It will require that you listen to me and follow my orders exactly as I give them. We can waste no further time bickering like children. I have tracked these creatures for a long time, and with your help, we may stop this menace once and for all. If you can do that, then we may yet save them. However, if you don't trust me, if you can't follow orders, then that's fine. You can all run about the Isle as you wish, leaving your loved ones forever cursed and likely getting yourselves killed...or worse. Your choice."

The hood shifted, turning towards Grendell with a parting mark. "You seemed so willing to fight the wolves earlier, dear. Will you be so willing if faced with your own mother?" Then towards the crowd once more, "You all will take this risk. You may come face to face with your loved ones. In their new forms, they will not recognize you as you will them. You must hold no reservations; they may try to harm you. It is the actions of the spirit within, not the host. Still...they may be saved and the spirits banished if you help me. Now, which will it be?"

Now the mysterious bad timing shadow pae wanted to be judgmental. Half raising her improve weapon, the red head took a hard look as if deciding something. Really, did she have to sit here and take this?! "That was not hostile." Her protest was forced low, the barest hint of a growl bit back in her throat. With wing tips twitching, her blue eyes stared now defiantly in to the 'eyes' of the creature. Before, she was being calm and civil but his response raised her own temper that he accused her of having.

It was only after the shadow thing looked away that she did as well. Glancing around, her pride had her willing to go off on her own now that he insulted her. Said action would require getting out of this mob and thanks to her dress, wings were not an option. Time to get out the same way she got in.

Thankfully the judging one moved away, she didn't even attempt to watch him. While she did listen, her eyes were elsewhere. The broken window, in fact. There, going outside had a better chance to attract one of these beasts, from there it was only a matter of beating it off and following it. That was if this pae was telling the truth and not getting them on a wild fowl chase.

Power to possess also made her want to laugh. Right, something stole her mother because it thought it could possess her? Not like that could happen to her, she and her siblings had a defense after the Shadow went after her mother befor..well, that was possible. She recalled her mother's quest for power but surely she wasn't THAT much in to power that she'd allow that, again.

Moving back through the crowd, she was done with that clown. Once again, the Late One gets condescending. He didn't have a clue who he was talking to if he felt that would make her listen to him. Only his comment towards her made her even stop. Looking back, her eyes tightened a little as she responded, "I would, because I know her. You underestimate my family." Her job was to protect her family, thats what father raised her to do. She was the defender and would do her part.

Getting back through the crowd, the nymph made her way to the window the wolf jumped through earlier to get a look at the area now completely unwilling to deal with the Late One.

He resisted the urge to laugh at the mention of were-pae. But then, there was a good chance this hooded figure was probably right as to what it was that took the missing pae. Seraphim merely tightened his grip on Cinna's waist.

"We'll be.. nice.. To your mother. We can bring Aysu back hog tied and watch her squirm. Or better yet, there are a good deal of those devices you hate I'm sure you'd love to see on the naiad." He suggested, his reasoning for following along with the group. Though he honestly couldn't care less. There was no one in the group he particularly cared about but there wasn't much choice now. He was there to keep face, that meant going along with the rest of this too.

Carter stood, as still as a statue, as he listened to the tragic news that was being told. He couldn't believe his ears...his little Sera and Ali...they were. That was impossible! though, they had proof before their eyes. He felt elvis begin to wriggle in his arms anxiously, vaguely hearing his worried questions about sera and elivis and pleas that he wanted them now and that he wanted to go home becuase the party was no longer fun. Carter frowned and hushed him calmly, sounding and looking far calmer than he really was. In reality he wanted to pull his hair out and scream.

"What do we have to do?" carter asked out loud, walking foreward towards the hunter to show his alliance. He had no other choice. He had no idea what he was dealing with and two little babies' lives were in danger. " I'm investing all my trust in you. please. I need to save my little ones." He breathed in a defeated manner, very much like a parent would would give anything to save their children.

Elvis clung to carter and hid his face, afraid of the hunter and of the entire situation, but he peeked a bit to see what was going on out of curiosity.

Anna-Maria shrugged. "Sure, why not. I don't know anyone here, but it couldn't hurt. Not like anyone helped me...but anyway." She had been with pirates a long time so she did have a bit of an attitude. Still, she'd help if she could. Why not? Nothing to lose or gain...or maybe she might help someone who had goodies to give her? This caused her to smile.

Jazz walked closed to the figure below his table. This all sounded completely ludicrous, but the wolf did seem to resemble that faun...so maybe he was telling the truth. Still, could they trust him? A guy in a cloak? This happened when he came he could be a part of it too. The elder decided helping the others was more important right now. She keep her eye on this guy. "What would you like us to do?" She agreed with the human.

Theron listens to the newcomer's speech with intensity. The situation sounded dangerous, and a little flame of fear begins to burn in his chest. Quickly, calmly, he douses it, standing tall and answering the call:

"I will stand with you as a fellow hunter. No loved ones were taken from me this night--no loved ones to turn against me. I will lend my entire strength to fight this menace and return all of the taken to rights."

Kieran stares at the hooded figure, horrified, through his whole explanation. He comes to sit cross-legged, elbows resting on his knees, his hands grasping at his own hair. He'd been alright with the thought of fighting some unknown menace to get Elizabeth back, but when their new leader had mentioned he may have to fight her, even kill her? That was rather hard to swallow.

Slowly, quietly, he makes his way toward the table the cloaked man is standing on, picking his way through Pae who are discussing what to do. He tugs on the man's cloak gently.

"Mister..." he says, his voice suddenly young and light again, evidence that the little boy he'd tried so hard to grow from was still very much alive. "I don't know if I can do this...If it comes down to it...if I have to....you know...will you help me?"

Frowning with concern, Saffron crossed, kneeling and wrapping an arm around his mother's shoulders. "Mom? It'll be alright. We'll get him back, just like the hunter said," he continued talking in a soft, soothing voice, rubbing her shoulder all the while.

Seeming in a daze at first, Takeko nodded slowly, her eyes still fixed on the pine needles in her hand. She blinked a few times at the contact, however, and turned to look at her son. "I'm alright, Saffron. Thank you." She was quiet, but reached up to pat her son's hand. She tried to smile reassuringly...but gave up with the failed effort. Instead, she turned her face away, rising to her feet. "Come. We'll see if there's anything we can do to help."

Eudora was left standing near the pink and white woman and the other lady's...mate? Maybe? She should ask. Wait, not now, too much going on. Way too many new questions being raised in her mind that were distracting her from other issues.

WerePae? Cursed? Spirit possessed Pae? ...did the spirits have names? Could they tell each other apart when they were spirits? What about when they had hosts? The hunter had said that they only had one power as spirits, but...what about when they were possessing someone?

Wait, that might be an important one. She tried to hold on to that one to ask later.

Meanwhile, was there something she might do to help? "If I can, I'd like to help. It's not right that those poor Pae suffer something that's beyond their control." She looked over at Kelebek, smiling at the pink lady. "Right?"

Aysu was possessed? Was she possessed a few weeks ago too? Would explain everything, but Cinna didn't figure it was that simple. "Well, I'll help with whatever we are doing." Cinna wondered what her mother, Noel would be thinking right now. She would want to help Aysu, even if Aysu didn't want her help.

Aspen went to Takeko's side and frowned, "Well, get him back and everyone else." He nodded to the cloaked figure. "What can we do remedy this situation?" Aspen reached down for Takeko's free hand and took it into his. He was willing to do anything to help.

Seth paid close attention to the figure as he spoke, his hand grasping Karma's. As he finished speaking, Seth looked to her. "I'm going to be going; Pastela is the only sister I have." Part of him wanted to ask her to stay behind; he didn't want to put her in danger. The other part wanted her with him, where he could at least protect her if she were to fall into danger.

Ama stepped foreward. "Dad... I need to go too. Apollo was with me when this happened and I need to find him."

Seth rubbed his temples. "Ama...."

Ama frowned. "You can't stop me, Dad; I'm doing this." She had to, if she didn't, then who was going to find him. This was were she dug her hooves in.

Seeming less shaken once the shock wore off, Takeko smiled sadly at her son and husband. "No really...I'm alright. Or will be," she muttered. That wasn't convincing, so she gave her son a quick hug and her mate a kiss on the cheek. "You're both very sweet, but... No worrying about me. There are others to be concerned for at the moment."

More steady, she glanced towards the hunter on the table. "Come, let's see if we can help in some way."
