I always seem to buy more and more books without reading the ones I already have. So then I end up with even more unread books.

My bad book habit is... If I start reading a book, I don't stop reading it. I read Deathly Hollows in 36 hours without sleep. I've also been told off for not sleeping, but I have an LED flashlight (Thank you, whoever invented LEDs) which I can easily hide and use to read under the covers.
Reading under the covers is also probably a bad habit xp
The one and only thing I ever nag my friends about is to return any books they borrowed from me. I freely lend them out, but after awhile, I tend to miss them.

This is a problem how...? biggrin It seems all well and good until your Mother who doesn't read wants to know why you insist on keeping all of "those books!" and asks you, "what are they about if you love them so much." and you don't even know some of them XD.

This is a problem how...? biggrin I always feel overwhelmed with all of my unread books. I have so many. I want to read them all, but I keep acquiring even more books which makes it seem almost impossible.

WARNING: Do not get in the habit of placing novels on the top of a lamp.. Even if it's turned off.. To elaborate on this, I was reading a book by Nora Roberts with a lamp that was on right beside me. Not thinking ahead to the lamp being on, I placed the book down to get a drink and watched a little tv. Well after about 30 minutes I began to smell burning paper and remembered my book. I freaked out and pulled it off the lamp. The back side of the book now has a burnt mark on it.. crying

...birds creep over tin roofs, like criminals with tap shoes... I Hear ThunderI harbour the sick relish of cracking the spine on a fresh pocket.
And dog ears, if i haven't mentioned that one already.
But Theres No Rain ...stain the glass with windows, extortionate and cold stare...

When the weather is nice I'll read my books while in the hot tub or by the pool. I'll get so caught up in the book that I'll lose track of time and I'll either end up really pruny or really burnt...

hmm, where to start. . .? reading books in class while I'm supposed to be working having books stacked on the floor (my bookcase is full sweatdrop but at least they're out of the way) reading multiple books (currently reading: 15 books, in the middle of half of them) reading in dim light reading with both my CD player and tv on (though the tv's muted) reading on the loo and forgetting where I am
I do a lot of weird things while I'm reading. . .

I'm er... not particularly selective about my bookmarks. I don't do anything crazy like use bits of salami (Some of you will totally get that reference and laugh), but I have a tendency to use whatever is closest and... well. Most of the time it's receipts but the other day I went to look something up in my copy of The Child Thief and realized that I'd used a paperclip to mark my spot. Heh.
I also start book and don't finish them. It mostly depends on whether or not the book grabs my attention and when it doesn't I usually set it aside until much later.
My absolutely worst habit though, the one most of you will want to murder me for, is dog earing. I would never do that as a book mark or to a new book (I buy most of my books used), or a book I do not personally own, but for my one year and older books, the ones I find terribly amusing, I'll dog ear my favorite pages - quotes too long to use as a status, too contextually specific to just type/write down and so on. So all the books I own that might be considered witty or funny tend to have a few very deliberately turned down page corners.

I despise people who do this. I won't lend books out to known dog-earers. A friend of mine does it to every book she reads, and I swear I toss in my sleep knowing she has ruined several of my favorite books because of this. *I stopped lending her books rather quickly after I found out it was her. I'm really bad, because I tend to leave my books out in the sunlight. Or more correctly, I like to read in natural sun because it's warm. Crazy book lovers like me know that leaving them there will bloat the books really bad. I have a few fluffy style books because of this. My boyfriend is even worse though. He leaves books open on their spines because he doesn't like bookmarks. I can't fault him too badly though, because he finishes books rather quickly, and a little wear on the spine makes them easier to read a second time. But it still drives me up the wall.

That's terrible. Like I said I would never do that to someone else's book and if I donate a book I always go through and undo it as best as I can, though it's only come up once (special, multiply read, loved books don't generally get donated and those are the only ones I mark). In return, I'd never EVER spend more than a few minutes reading out in natural sun and I ways make sure my bookselves can't get direct sunlight when I set them up in a room.

But... .I looooove reading in natural sunlight. TwT It's hard to setup bookshelves out of it's destructive path too *Don't get me wrong, I manage it >w> . I live in a rather sunny place, so we have lots of windows and less lamps. Vary bad for book lovers. But it is nice to have a large window to sit next to and read comfortably for a while.
