Scnope You know your a band geek when, In the middle of class, you start singing your part in a song and then your band friends join in with theirs and those not in band just stare at you like your idiots. This has happened on many occasions 3nodding When you do that in another country, with the only other band geek that went on the school trip with you. (I'm a horn and we did this while walking the streets in Lima, Peru with an alto sax)

when you've figured out the most effective way to store the scafolding and all of the other marching equipment into a tiny tiny space in the band room.
when you've skipped assemblies or meetings in the band room.
when you've witnessed the random jam sessions that seem to pop up at lunch time.
when you try to teach all of your friends the dance that goes with the cadence (funky junk!!!), and do that dance with other band kids anytime you hear it.
when you can also "sing" the entire cadence.

RainClouds14 When you're in step with the person walking in front of you in the hallway.
When you sing your part on the band bus and everyone joins in.
When you know you wear your marching shoes for everything, even non-band event.
When you don't take fingerings and double tonguing as dirty jokes anymore.
I am guilty of all of those except wearing my band shoes because they are extremly muddy and slightly uncomfortable to walk around in....I figured that out the hard way... sad .....whae my band was preforming at the fair we got to walk around the rest of the day after we preformed and I didn't bring other shoes because I figured that they would be comfortable, but I was there from 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the evening.........and my feet hurt so bad because all we did the entire time was walk around.....

when you are sick and stay home from school and miss band and only want to go to school for first period (band)
you make up a dance to the caidence and everytime you are not marcing and it is played all you have to do is look at the people you made it up with and you starts dancing
you try to get your bf/gf to be a band aid so you can actully see them on friday nights
is sad when your flute has your be 'fixed' and his name is George
treat your band memebers like family
when you start crying at the last game with that years seniors
when you cry at the first game of the season
are devistated when you can not march because of the weather
are at a friends house outside, and starts doing the fundamental drill for fun
if you think that people that do not know what some insterment are called are dumb and that everybody should know something as simple as that
(I am guilty of all of these things and most of the other things on this forum. band is just awsome, and I have relized that even if someone is in a different band, they do a lot of things like you. I start with my left foot with out even thinking anymore, and can not stand it if i am not in step with people.......I am a band nerd!!!!!!!!!!and proud of it!!!!!!!)

You know when you're a band geek when... --This fourm describes everything about what you do. --When your mom brings you in a music store when your about five and you look up at her from staring all the beautifully made instruments and state. "Mommy, could you by me this whole store?! Pwease!" (Guilty. I still remember this. xD) --When you wanted to become a musician even before you wanted to walk. (Tee-hee. Guilty again) --When you treat your band as a family. --When you met your best friend in band rehersal and treat him/her now as a bro/sis. (Guilty) --When your best friend fiddles on your cell and looks under the speed dial list and your band mates are on there, but not him/her. (Guilty) --When you want to go home but you stay because band is the last period of the day. --(For drummers) when you steal your friends pencils and start drumming on your desk with out even a second thought. (I do that all the time.) --Play the cadience in your head and you start marching to it. --When your friend starts humming a peice of music and you pick out a flaw in their humming and point out they were wrong and you hum it correctly. (Guilty) --When you're sitting in a pew at a wedding, listening to the music, and the organ player makes a mistake and you laugh because you're the only one that caught it and everyone stares at you. (Happened to me at my cousins wedding a few weeks ago.)
And lastly-- When your principle get's rid of band because there aren't enough people in it (because it's a small school) and you write up a petition. That doesn't work, and you get your ex-BD to start a comunity band. biggrin (This happened to me...)
