[I'm not a bad person...]♠ "Of course, of course..." He shook his head. "Anyways, it has been a pleasure, but I must be off." He smiled. "Give my regards to the original, will you?" He waved his hand and headed out. ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

The Vampiric Sparrow Perched iteslf on a shelf covered in books and nestled in to wait for the sorceress to acknowledge him and either change him back or explain what she wanted with him, in this form.

The enchantress eyed the sparrow with a clinical air. "I am sorry to have subjected you to this indignity but I have my reasons. Would you like me to change you back? You have but to think a response and I will know."

Fluttering to the a spot a bit closer to the Enchantress, Vii ruffled his brown feathers and thought for a moment. What reasons? If you return me to my human form will you be changing me back to this before I am able to leave here? It wasn't that Vii minded being a bird, flying was quite fun once he got the hang of it. The vampire also didn't mind the thought of being able to assist the sorceress in some way, even if it meant he had to be a sparrow to be of any use. Fluffing his fealthers and wiggling his little amber tail feathers, Vii chirped almost completely instinctually. ★★★★★★★

"If I return you to your original form I will seek another way to further my research. I am...shall we say, intrigued by the gender-swapping plague that is sweeping the area, and I would like to investigate. The spell that will allow me to do so is much, much easier to perform on a smaller shape." Her tone was still calm and clinical, a scholar examining an experiment.

With an excited chirp like a song but very fast and short, the little sparrow spread its tiny feathered wings and flew into the air landing lightly on Emma's shoulder. Be my guest, though should I ask about any possible side effects? Vii thought as it stuck out a tiny bird leg and a wing in a humourous sort of fashion. ★★★★★★★

"Nothing serious or lasting, just a little bit of discomfort. All mental, nothing physical." She guided the sparrow onto her finger, holding it out in front of her in a bizarre parody of a Disney princess.

Obediently the sparrow took the place on the Sorceress' finger and closed its beady onxy eyes. Alright then I'm ready when you are Lady Emma. Vii wasn't sure of anything these days but he was pretty sure the gender changed had transferred over to himself as a bird which had to mean something, didn't it? A moment of sheer panic crossed the vampires mind, seriously worried for the first time that this condition might be permanent, the being accidentally male part that is. ★★★★★★★

"Very well."
Violet light flared, enveloping the sparrow and obscuring it from sight. Emma muttered something under her breath, slipping from one language to another with ease; Elvish, Old English, Hebrew, Latin, Sanskrit, the incantation comprised those and more.
Vii would be feeling a slight chill and something akin to the feeling of being watched, but tenfold. A feeling of being examined at the microscopic level.

The sparrow of Vii bristled his feathers and shivered uncomfortably, and it became an effort to remain there on the perch of her finger. The violet had taken him by surprise, but the odd chill was strange compared to the pressure being exterted in his tiny bird brain. Instantly his thought returned to the last few minutes before she'd become a he. The strange numbness reoccurred like empathy, an amputated limb that had an uncomfortable itch, except for everything was phantom except for the feathers. ★★★★★★★

Emma pursed her lips, looking down at the sparrow intently. With her unoccupied hand, she conjured a quill and ink, quickly scribbling a few notes down on a nearby sheet of parchment. The spell lifted and she brought Vii up to eye level.
"I can change you back now, if you like."

Did you learn what you needed to? Was it as you thought? Am I going to be a man forever? The questions her mind held toppled out as she asked but he had not answered her. If you are complete and no longer require a pet vampiric sparrow, then yes I am ready. His mind rumbled out a chuckle translating to a sqeak and a regal tail fanning. ★★★★★★★

"I have learned everything I needed, it was not quite as I thought, and it is temporary."
With the final word, she jerked her hand out from under Vii, hitting him with the reversal in midair. The spell worked better when the subject was already thrown off; the uncertainty of the mind helped to ease the body into another shape.
It would eliminate the pain this way.

And suddenly Vii was standing there like an idiot on wobbly legs with his arms outstretched for a brief moment before it was clear which form was present. "Well, I have to say that was the first time I've ever been anything but myself, er, well you know." He said awkwardly before adding "so this is not what you expected? That's bad, but temporary sounds very good to me." He rubbed his gloved hands together as if feeling them for the first time. There was no pain, not really, just a disoriented feeling as if being bound tightly for a long period of time.

"It does not have the origin I expected it to have."
She had hypothesized that the plague was magical in origin, but it was not. Purely scientific, in fact, and therefore completely out of her sphere of influence.
"Any ill effects from the spell?"
