It was Keegan's turn to be caught off-guard, as he hadn't expected Kasiya to respond with such, well, maturity. He was fully expecting for her to scream and yell and possibly even attack him physically, but instead she seemed to pull her composure together very quickly, and when she spoke, even her tone was fairly calm. He actually flinched a little as she moved past him and he whirled around, almost afraid to take his eyes off her, which was quite a switch as only a few hours ago he could barely look at her. I'm not a mindless drone, he thought, though he'd meant to say it out loud. I just... I don't... No one understands...

As she stepped towards him, he responded by stepping back, though the tiny room didn't allow for much movement and before he knew it he felt his back pressing up against the door, which meant he had no where else to run to. Feeling a little like a caged animal, he flinched a second time when she reached up and gently stroked his cheek with her soft fingertips, though once contact was made he found himself leaning in to her hand, eyes closed. "You are the only one I trust," he whispered, cupping her face in his hands so that he could gaze directly into her eyes. "And it scares the living s**t outta me."

It was slightly disturbing how..accustomed Sasha was becoming to the haunting constant threat of vomiting at every other word this boy said. Damn him. she silently cursed. Prickles was going to go down, that much was certain, but that wouldn't stop her from giving it her all. She just had to pretend like she was Mike, and this was some daring rescue! That's it, think of something heroic...not the more...eccentric things he had done the other day. Or what he allegedly was responsible for in Lilycove...

Maybe it was best not to think like Mike at all.

None the less, she would win, for she was not going on a date with this scum! She had a friend to find! "Prikcles, Dard-nuée!"

After bobbing back from the Aerial Ace's cutting blow, the Cacturne readied himself once more, and fired a volley of razor sharp pins towards the crow. Sasha counted three, hoping one would like, hit it in the wing or something. Stop it from, well, being statistically better than her Pokemon for just one minute and faint.

It had been a long day for the purple haired trainer and she was glad to finally get some shut eye. Mitsu sighed in her sleep, her half dazed mine wondering where she'd found a pillow. She snuggled a bit closer, not realizing it was Kilik's arm. Something about this moment felt familiar. It was like de ja vu. . .

Mitsu sighed, weary from the Cherry Blossom Festival. It had been a long day that once again ended with a Rocket attack, though this time she'd been playing for the bad guys. At least in disguise anyways. All's well that ends well though, right? It was nightfall and she'd begun to sleep. She'd sat on the sofa in the Cherrygove Pokemon Center, her head leaning on the shoulder of a familiar brown haired boy. It felt so. . .

Blinking her eyes rapidly Mitsu woke with a start. She looked over at Kilik, untangling her arm from his as carefully as she could without waking him up. She'd done enough of that. How did that even happen? The moment felt all too familiar and there was just something about it she didn't like. Shaking her head lightly she said to herself in a hushed whisper, "Just forget about it." She looked at Kilik again, his chest rising and falling in a slow rhythm in his sleep. Her heart couldn't help but skip a beat or two. She grabbed the blanket that laid in a crumpled heap near the end of the couch and draped it carefully over the boy. She yawned, pulling another blanket around her before falling back asleep, this time her head against the back of the sofa.

A weak smile appeared on Kasiya's face and she leaned forward, letting her head rest on Keegan's shoulder. If you do trust me, you have a funny way of showing it sometimes, she thought with a sigh, closing her eyes. She was sure she was dreaming, there was no way that this could truly be what was happening, could it? Trying to reassure herself that this was all real, she carefully wrapped her arms around him. He felt pretty real, and he smelled pretty real too, and she relaxed a little. "It is a little scary sometimes, isn't it?" she asked almost absently, her voice muffled a little. "But I think we're stronger together, don't you?"

Even though she wanted to freeze time right then and there, she knew she had to get back to work soon, and she sighed again. "I do have to get back to work," she said quietly, though the reluctance in her tone was more than enough to show that she really didn't want to. "You should try to enjoy the rest of the gala too," she added, suddenly remembering something important and she checked the time on her PokeNav quickly. It was still a bit before midnight so she wasn't too late. "Happy Birthday," she said, smiling up at the redhead. "I hope most of it was good, at the very least," she added after a moment or so of thought.
=-=-=-=-=

"Supper time already? Wow," Lilah replied, looking up at the clock on the wall. "I didn't know it was that late. No wonder I'm so hungry." She grinned at Katie, amused that she'd managed to keep the orange-haired girl's company for so long. "If you want we can all have dinner together. Maybe your two Pokemon will behave if mine are around?" she suggested with a shrug. It was worth asking, at least. She glanced towards the egg pouch Katie carried, still quite curious about what kind of Pokemon would hatch from it. "Do you know what's in the egg?" she asked as she began to walk towards the cafeteria.
=-=-=-=-=

"Certainly," Callum nodded, returning his own Growlithe to its Pokeball. "I'm also certain that with time, Growlithe will understand. He's a clever little pup, so I'm sure of it." The two began the short walk back towards town, and Callum's attitude still seemed to be quite upbeat even though he'd just lost the battle. Winning and losing didn't make much of a difference to him, as you gained experience either way. He was glad, however, to see that his Pokemon would be raised by a fine young trainer, and he couldn't wait to battle them again once they'd trained some more.

Another status attack, perhaps he should have invested in a move like Safe guard or the like before facing a grass type gym leader. But was something he'd have to take care of later. "It won't be that easy. Ariados, break up that cloud with Night Shade." Aridos hissed almost arrogantly at the vine pokemon, aiming the limbs on her back towards the golden powder who's sinister nature was almost a dead give away from it's beautiful appearance. Without much effort she released a wave of dark energy into the air that writhed almost as if it were alive, entering the golden cloud and erupting. The field was covered with specs of black and gold as the remains of both attacks floated down harmlessly.

The empty shell of a boy that was once Mike Kyoka, now overcome by the darkest part of his being, strolled along the Fortee path, the sun at his back and a sadistically merry skip in his step. He eyed the treetops, the morning dew shining like diamonds in the beautiful orange glow of the first morning light. "What a beautiful ambiance." Milo said with a deep breath. "The perfect setting for the delight that is about to unfold."

As he approached the Fortee Gym, the boy took a quick look at himself in the mirror. His hair was a bit messed up from the escape, a bit of it frayed from the fire inside his cell, not to mention the huge gash on his forehead from all the times that moron smashed his head on the door. His nose looked better than it did, but there was still a good amount of color around it. Was it still-CRRCK-yup, still broken. Well, his face was a wreck, and so were his clothes. One sleeve of his jacket was just completely gone, the other frayed at about the halfway point. At least his pants were in mostly one piece. Oh well, not like it mattered anyway. A beaten look would only help in this situation.

Milo entered the Gym. If he knew Winona, which he did, she would be here hours before everyone else, practicing like she always did. A lovely, open target. And there she was, up on the arena with her Tropius, not yet aware of his presence. "Oh well, we'll soon fix that." Milo said to himself.

THUMP.

"Wait, what was that?" Winona held up her hand, the Tropius halting its morning Razor Leaf target practice. "It sounded like it came fro-" she looked down to notice a familiar boy collapsed on her floor. "Mike!!" The Gym leader immediately recalled her Pokemon and ran down the stairs, flipping the boy on his back, letting out a small gasp at his injuries. "You're bleeding! A lot! Oh my god, let's uh..., um...get you into my office right away!" Winona quickly but gently lifted the boy off the ground, put his arm around her shoulder, and carried him to the exact place he wanted to be.

With a mighty yawn, Mazarin stuffed his hand into his pocket and began to fiddle with the change that was in there. Oooh, thirty seven cents! he smiled his big goofy smile and looked up at Murkrow, who was flying high in the sky. "So Pin Missile?" he was kind of getting tired of all her crazy Frenchy-baguette speak. Oh wait! It'll be a neutral attack! Dark is weak to Bug, but Flying's strong against it! Oh dear. He put his hand on his face. He could hear Murkrow take two of the three attacks, and land on the ground with a few shaky tail feathers. It hopped around and Mazarin punched the air. "You're still good to go! Let's slam her with another Aerial Ace!" He swept the air with his hand and then brought it back to his chest, sliding his other hand through his hair, attempting to look dashing. "And that's not all I'll be slammin' ya with if you catch my drift."

Though he couldn't hold the dashing charade after his comment and he burst out laughing, clutching his sides, almost falling over. "Ahaha...AHAHAHA! Man! I am a RIOT!" Murkrow had to try not to laugh either, wings glowing white as the witchy Pokemon flew straight at Prickles.

Giovanni slipped his hands into his pockets as he listened to one of his head scientists explain to him the dangers of this new project. The warnings were going in one ear and out the other. He knew exactly what he was getting into when he first asked him. "Now then," he said, cutting the scientists off. "I have a plethora of Pokemon that you can use to not only input DNA but to also teach the machine new attacks. I want it so be able to take an attack, learn it immediately, and return it back at double the power."

"Giovanni, sir!" the scientist pleaded, "No machine could take that much brutality! It would be destroyed after a few attacks!" He felt himself be lifted off the ground - Giovanni had him in his tight grasp.

"Listen to me, fool," he growled, "I have almost unlimited resources and you're telling me I can't have what I want? You do know who I am!? Who you WORK for?!" The Boss dropped the man hard to the ground with a loud thud. "Now! Get to work, otherwise I can discuss these matters with someone else. How would your family react to not having a roof over their heads?" With an aghast look, the scientist immediately returned to his computer.

"Quick Attack Lopunny!" the red faced lady shouted immediately. "Squish that ridiculous bug!" Lopunny growled, or well, as close to a growl as the Pokemon could manage, which needless to say was not very threatening at all. The brown Pokemon sped forward, using her right ear to swing at the poor little Skorupi.

Scuttles cringed and cowered a bit at being called an insignificant bug. Not only were these people crazy but they were also mean. Why, oh why, did Mia always make him battle the weirdos. For once couldn't she just let him battle normal friendly people? It would make battling a lot more enjoyable. At least Mia's encouraging words helped him feel better, he wouldn't have known what to do with that obliviously cheerful girl.

"Scuttles!" Mia commanded, "Acupressure now!" As Lopunny closed in, the familiar white streak flashing on behind her, Scuttles began to glow. The attack landed though the Skorupi flashed red a few times before landing on the ground, a bit hurt and dazed, and now covered in mud like everyone else.

"Again, Pound!" the lady shouted feeling confident that she'd had this battle won. The Rabbit Pokemon leaped into action, literally. Pushing off her hind legs she sprang forward, paw outstretched once more.

Okay, okay, okay, okay. Miyamaru thought, her mind swarming to pick up the right thoughts and strategies. Red means attack. That means that Scuttles should be more powerful now. "Wait, for it," Mia spoke, "Wait, for it. . .Now! Bite!" Scuttles waited for the Lopunny to get close enough, he was good at waiting anyhow, and as she got near enough he jumped, opened his mouth, and took a big bite into her arm.

A loud cry erupted into the air as the Lopunny squired against Scuttle's tight grip. He refused to let go of his prey, the fangs on the side of his mouth slightly stabbing the Rabbit Pokemon as she continued to struggle. The Lopunny may have been a lot bigger than Mia's Skorupi, but it couldn't seem to shake the little guy off, not matter how violently she was failing about.

Scuttles, though appearing valiant in his effort, was hanging onto the Pokemon's arm for dear life. His eyes were slammed shut as his body was waved through the air like a flag that was being shaken a bit too violently. "Knock Off Scuttles!" Miyamaru said upon seeing her Pokemon unintentionally thrashed about like a rag doll by the Crazy Lady's Lopunny.

The Skorupi was glad he didn't have to cling anymore. The Pokemon's fur was oddly perfumed and mixed with swamp mud. Needless to say it wasn't the most pleasant thing he'd ever bitten. In fact it was just disgusting. Blah! Scuttles flipped his body immediately after letting his grip go and swiped his tail across the Lopunny's face, the two stingers at the end leaving thin red lines on her left cheek. He landed in the mud upright and sighed in relief afterward. A flashy attack like that wasn't his style, he'd rather leave those kind of attacks to Rhyme.

If you thought the nameless lady couldn't get any angrier then you were wrong. The woman blew a gasket as she eyed the red lines on her darling Pokemon's face. This was her prized Pokemon! How dare this little smiling idiot do such a thing to her precious Lo-Lo! "How dare you!" she shrieked, throwing both her hand into the air, mud flying off of them only to land on her head. "Jump Kick! NOW!" she cried, her voice cracking several times.

Even if she was too angry to see the comic relief in the situation Mia was not. One again, for the millionth time during their battle, Mia began to laugh her usual gut-busting laugh. "Oh, it's too much! It's TOO much!" she cried, tearing peeking from the corner of her eyes.

Winona sat Mike down in her office chair, trying her best to be gentle while placing him, like he was some sort of ancient expensive piece of pottery that would shatter into a thousand little fragments if she even breathed on him harshly. "I saw you on TV yesterda-stand still-did you really hurt those peo-what about Lilycov-close your eye for me-and the hospital, what is going on Mike?!" She was in hysterics, unable to tell whether she should be holding him for comfort or tying him to the chair and alerting the authorities. "I-I saw it on the news, you're a wanted criminal now! W-what were you thinking, escaping from the institution?! What if they find you here?!" She ran over and looked out sure to see if any of her trainers had come in yet before quietly locking the door. She sat herself down on her desk and put her head in her hands. "What am I doing? What should I do? This is all happening so fast. One day everything is fine, then in one day I find out that you were involved in the Lilycove incident, and that you've apparently gone crazy, refer to yourself as if you were someone different, and attack people on public television! What am I supposed to make of that?"

Milo just sat there in silence as she ranted on, pretending to be as shocked at the gravity of the situation as she was. When she was through, he lifted up his head. "Thank you for helping me, Winona." he said weakly. "No one else did. You're the only one that cared enough to not immediately judge me and lock me up." He gave her the ol' puppy dog eyes routine, which he knew Mike did all the time when they were kids and she yelled at him.

Winona's eyes began to tear up, the combination of the stressful moment and the nostalgic feeling of when they were younger finally getting to her. "Mike...I..." her face turned a deep shade of red, and she found it difficult to look him in the eye anymore. "...you know...ever since..." Oh god, what am I saying? This isn't even close to the right moment for this! "I mean, I know I'm always hard on you, but..."

Yes... Milo smiled internally. That's it...come to me...

"Seeing you right now like this, made me realize how much I..." The girl leaned in closer, her eyes fluttering in uncertainty. "I..." She puckered her lips and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, moving ever so slowly close.

Good girl... Milo could feel his own heart racing, not out of love or anything like that, but the thrill of finally breaking this girl's ice cold shell, and very soon, breaking her entirely.

A small frown formed on Erika's face as Crenu's Pokemon dodged yet another status effect, and she placed a hand on her hip. She always had trouble taking down Poison-types but it was not impossible for her to do. A soft sigh escaped her lips, and she looked towards her Tangela, amused to see that he seemed to be a bit aggravated with Crenu. "Don't let them get to you, Tangela," she called out, her voice almost unnaturally calm. Her eyes, however, seemed to give away the fact that she was quite enjoying the battle. "Blast them away with a Solar Beam!"

Ooh, Solar Beam! Tangela was quite fond of using that attack, especially because it always charged so fast during the warm sunlight. Quite suddenly, as he was preparing to use it, the spark of something new flashed through his mind. Suddenly, he sent out several clusters of vines into the ground, which at first looked as though he were about to use Ingrain. But, instead of planting his roots to start absorbing nutrients from the soil, the vines began to rip the ground apart. The rocks and chunks of earth that had been torn up began to glow with a light, hazy blue colour and were quickly launched at the Ariados. Tangela, very pleased with his new attack hopped up and down and turned to look back at Erika, who could only stare at him with a puzzled look. Was that AncientPower...? she wondered.

When Jaeshan opened his eyes again he was surprised to find that he'd leaned forward and had been dozing on the side of the bed next to the Squirtle. Feeling quite groggy he straightened up, wiping a bit of drool from his chin. His back cracked noisily in several places and he groaned a bit, scratching the back of his head. He noticed that Blaziken was still leaning up against the wall nearby, though her rhythmic breathing told him that she was asleep. It took a bit of fumbling around in the darkened room for Jaeshan to find the proper Pokeball and call her back, though as he did so he saw that Shelgon was still stationed by the door. Upon seeing that her trainer was awake the dragon looked at him, nodded the best she could and went right back to staring ahead, back on guard. "Shelgon," Jaeshan chuckled softly, amazed at how much she'd changed since her evolution.

"Squirr-tle?" came a sudden voice from beside him, and it startled Jaeshan so much that he cried out and toppled off his chair, landing with a painful thud on the floor beside the gurney. A little surprised by the human's weird reaction, the turtle peered over the side of his bed, blinking down at Jaeshan with wide, round, ruby-red eyes. "Squirtle squirt?" he asked.

"Ow... oh man that hurt..." Jaeshan groaned, slowly pulling himself up into a sitting position. "I landed on my head..." He looked up at the turtle Pokemon that was now staring down at him, smiling warmly. "You startled me, but it's good that you're awake," he chuckled. The Water-type studied him for a moment, seemingly unsure of what to think of him. He was vaguely aware of someone pulling him from the log and bringing him to shore, and the more he thought about it the more he became sure that it was this boy that had saved him. Very faintly, the turtle Pokemon returned a smile.

After a long frightened pause, Winona just went for it. She practically lunged forward, her eyes shut so tight they hurt. It was clumsy, wet, and she actually missed his mouth a few times, but her heart was in it, and that's all that matters really. As the two broke apart from each other she gasped for air, quickly taking off her now suffocating helmet. As she threw it across the room she realized a bit of the blood from Mike's gash on his forehead had rubbed off on her, but that was quite low on her priorities at the moment. She returned her gaze to Mike, her hair was frizzy half shaped by her helmet, her face was beat red, and her eyes displayed both a terrified uncertainty and a sense of uncontrollable longing. The girl seemed frozen in place, not knowing what the next step would be, if there was even one.

Milo lowered his head, his chest heaving in and out.

"Mike! What's wrong?" Winona asked, concerned. "Did I overdo it?" She reached out her hand to wipe a bit of hair out of the way so she could see his face. "Are you-" 'Mike's' hand flew up and grabbed the Gym Leader's wrist. She gasped in surprise, then yelped in pain when she felt just how tightly he was holding on. "Mike, stop!" she cried.

"Hn-hn-hn-hn-hn-hn-hn-hn...heh-heh-heh-heh-heh...."

Winona's eyes widened at the sick laugh coming from her friend. Her heart picked up speed again, but not like before. This wasn't love...it was fear. Milo lifted up his head, his messy hair covering a good portion of his face and casting a scary looking shadow over the rest, accenting his wide, crazed smile. "Hya-hahahahaha!" Winona tried to get away, but it was no use; he was much stronger than her. Milo yanked her close, taking a good look at her face. "I see...some of me rubbed off on you my lovely little Winona." He took a deep breath through his nose. "It suits you." He squeezed her slender wrist even tighter.

"Aaggh!" Winona cried. "Mike, please stop! What are you doing?! You're hurting me!"

"Ha ha haha..." he laughed, looking her right in the eye. "That's the idea."

Train walked alongside Callum, holding Growlithe's PokèBall for a moment before finally clicking the button to make it smaller and clipping it to her belt. She nodded at Callum and smiled, seeming pretty certain that this was in fact true, and that Growlithe would listen to her fully soon enough. The teenager could tell that he was going to be strong, and she loved having such a powerful Pokèmon added to her team. It didn't take that long for them to reach the Pokèmon Center, as they hadn't strayed that far from the town in the first place, and it was basically empty save for a couple of people that were only in their for a short time, so both of their teams were taken for healing rather quickly. "I wonder if I should try challenging Brock now...Oddish is still jumpy but she battles, as long as nothing scares her. And now that I've got Growlithe, too..." She was stuck between training some more and challenging the Rock gym leader. A little training would be helpful, but it always would and she really wanted to finally get her first badge.

Poor Miles screamed out in pain. Star was stronger then him, and currently very annoyed. He shook his leg violently, while Star held her lockjaw. "Enough Star! Let go!" Star refused, and bit down harder. Sam was frightened by the tears in Miles' leg, and the blood. She remembered Star's first trainer battle, with Tony's Bidoof, how she had so much bloodlust...Sam dashed forward, and attempted to drag Star away from the little Mankey. Star wouldn't budge, and Sam ended up dragging Miles with Star. This was too much for the poor Pig Nose pokemon, and he fainted, exhausted from the battle and apparent blood loss. "Star! Goddammit, leggo of his leg!" Sam tugged, and wrenched Star away. As she lay back panting, Star recovered from the bloodlust, and hung her head, ashamed at having lost control. Sam wandered back to her pack to get the egg. She suddenly remembered that both Miles and Star had pokeballs, she could have just returned them. She smacked her forehead. "Idiot!" she cursed. She needed one of those fancy belts that held the balls close at hand, or perhaps a sticky note attatched to her forehead "Remember to use their pokeballs idiota!" She sighed, and returned both Star and Miles to their respective pokeballs. They didn't fight it. As she re-entered the pokecenter, she felt the egg wiggle a few times. 'Hm...Must be close to hatching. Really do need to research' As she handed off the pokeballs, she checked the time. She sucked in a breath. She was going to cut it close, but she could make it still.

When she received the pokeballs, she hurridley thanked the Nurse, and removed the bike from her pack. 'Cool I finally get to use this' She unfolded it, and put it in high gear. She pedaled hard to the port, and skidded to a stop at the ticket taker. She handed off her ticket, and boarded the ferry, collapsing the bicycle as she went. She breathed a sigh of relief, and sat on the upper deck. It was fairly deserted on the boat, so she brought up a few chairs, and made a little camp to wait out the trip. As she watched other people make their way through the port, she only saw two people board the ferry she was on, a set of identical twins by the looks of it. Sam smiled contentedly, and lay back on the chairs. 'That would certainly be an interesting battle...' she thought to herself, her hand over her forehead. 'But I musn't overdo it,' she admonished. A bit bored, she removed her pokedex, and scrolled through the entries that had been recorded. Since there were only a few, she quickly tired of this. 'I wish I had PokeGear' She rummaged through her bag again, and found the Boulder Badge she had won earlier. She set about polishing it as best as possible, so it made a pure note when it was flicked.

"Stronger together..." Keegan repeated slowly, unable to keep himself from pulling her into his arms. I guess we are, though it really depends on the day, he thought, suppressing a chuckle. Sure, they were great together - when they weren't at each other's throats, that is. He quirked an eyebrow when she mentioned that she had to go back to work. "Oh right, I forgot you were actually working here," he mumbled. "And thanks, it's actually not been half bad." He stepped back a bit to look at her from arm's length. "Outfit's pretty cute though. Do you think they'd let you keep it for later?" he asked with a bit of a sly smirk, though he figured that the comment would probably go right over the naive girl's head.
