Easter flowed with the crowd as it pushed towards along only to find herself right behind a elderly man as his stomach cavity was unceremoniously emptied along the ground. The green haired girl choked back what little food she'd had that day and stumbled backwards. This had been exactly what her parents had warned her of. The sheer ruthlessness of the soldiers was something she'd never seen on such a scale. Sure she'd seen them dealing with thieves and various other citizens before, but this left Easter numb all over and she wished she'd spent the day reading, snuggled next to Egan.
Egan. That's right! Was he doing okay? He couldn't have been used to running around like she was, after all he had made little attempt at walking before he grew so suddenly. A quick look at her arm reassured her that he was indeed still attached, but he had a strangely calm look on his face as they stumbled over more and more bodies. He'd never been very expressive before, but how could he be so indifferent to what was going on around them? It wasn't even certain that they themselves would make it out of this tangle of bloodlust alive.
Lost in her train of thought Easter didn't have enough time to react as a shrieking woman careened into her, knocking the young girl down into the piles of bodies, limbs and blood. Scrambling to get away from the lifeless eyes and rapidly cooling flesh, Easter found herself staring at a vaguely familiar face. Could that really be? Was it that woman from the trio earlier? As his companion stood shakily to her feet Egan held onto Easter's arm and she clamped her hands around his. This wasn't their place to die. It couldn't be. Wouldn't be. With new resolve Easter led the two of them towards what she hoped would be safety.

Event for 404NotFound!! .:: [ . EVENT FOR SEVERIN . ] ::. People tore through the streets around Doctor Oddssen and his young son, stampeding and tripping over the bodies that littered the ground. Some, catching sight of items of possible value, paused to pillage the dead. The child in Severin's arms suddenly grabbed onto his master's sleeve with considerable strength, some deep emotion stirring in his gray eyes.
"How barbaric. These humans have no right to the dead." The voice that echoed in the doctor's mind seemed slow and sad. "I've seen enough. I must take one step closer to my fate; let me down."

Chiaku "As for the humans..." Elliot shrugged. "They disappear in pairs, the humans and their Actors. Being torn from your Actor, I imagine it's pretty traumatic." He looked at Adalei just as she began to scowl.
"Yeah, pretty traumatic indeed," she said angrily under her breath. Syrin’s interest was torn from Elliot as Adalei came closer. Ever curious, he aped her expression, her smile—and made a grab for the pretty locket dangling from her neck. Feyd quickly smothered his attempts and held the rascal closer as the conversation turned serious again.
Feyd was suddenly very grateful that he hadn’t tried to leave Syrin alone. Though, now that he thought of it again, he wasn’t sure if he could have brought himself to. “Just two others?” he breathed. That boded ill for Syrin’s chances, and Feyd had thought his biggest problem was his lack of parenting knowledge. “What can I do? How have you managed to avoid this man?” The pair had said they’d never seen the man, and that seemed highly preferable to disappearing.
He felt careless now, so careless he could kick himself. How many people had seen Syrin? Too many. He hadn’t lied, no one had really gotten a good look at the babe, no one else had held him, but a few in Marsalles, a good portion of the theater… “Why didn’t the Velvet Room warn me about this?”

Breathless and worn out, Fae collapsed against a sturdy wall as she reached the edge of the Rumwell district. She let her back slide against the wall until it turned sharply into an alley, and sunk to the ground. Fae leaned her head back against the wall, closing her eyes and waiting for her breath to return to its even pattern.
I must have gone mad...
In her mind's eye she could see the guard falling unconscious as her rock hit him in the head. She didn't think she possessed the strength to do that . She only meant to...
To do what, Fae? You knew what you were in for. This is what happens when you fall in with guards. They take your life in their teeth and shake you like a dog.
Once her lungs stopped aching, she stood again, not bothering to dust the dirt off her pants. She'd only be sitting in the mud again once she reached the Stables. She desperately hoped that the familiar motions of her work would help ease her mind during the hours that remained.
Besides, after what she did today, the people of the city would have need of an apothecary.

City Conditions Date: Spring 3 (Early Spring) Time: Mid-afternoon Weather: Sunny, with clear skies; around 70 degrees (Fahrenheit) Aaric Feyd was suddenly very grateful that he hadn’t tried to leave Syrin alone.
Too many. He hadn’t lied, no one had really gotten a good look at the babe, no one else had held him, but a few in Marsalles, a good portion of the theater… “Why didn’t the Velvet Room warn me about this?” Seeing that Syrin was not necessarily interested in this conversation, Adalei bent towards him again, this time removing the necklace and allowing the locket to drift in and out of the child's reach. She let the gold object spin, catching sunlight. The sunlight that reflected on the walls resembled small pixies, winking in and out of existence.
As Adalei entertained the child, Elliot continued his conversation with Feyd. "To be honest, we have no idea how we've made it so far. It's hard to keep yourself disguised all the time; we've certainly slipped up and made mistakes."
"People have seen Elliot's true appearance in broad daylight before" Adalei added, nodding solemnly. "But still, we've never encountered this man before. We have no clues about him, really, except for his gender. We don't know if he's young or old, or how he even came to learn about the Actors.
"...And as for the Velvet Room," she continued, "it's a mysterious place. They may know nothing about Wynander and the people here." Suddenly, her eyes became distant, the tone of her voice cool and emotionless. "Their only duty is to summon Personae between worlds. Those of us who have been chosen must take responsibility for our own fates."
Sensing that the mood was becoming increasingly dark, Elliot tried to smile, lightening the tone of his voice. "Anyway, we're very fortunate to have encountered you and Syrin. We'll try to help the two of you, if we can. When he gets older, I wouldn't mind showing your boy some of my tricks, either." Elliot grinned and winked at the child.

Grondax had gone around the back into Marsalles and ensured that everything was in order for when the shipments arrived. Once the shipment arrived it was scheduled to be divided and stored in the appropriate places.
At that point it would be up to others to clean up the mess made by the afternoons riot.
From there he made his way towards the Lost District and his hidden office. He needed to prepare a few documents for the evenings dealings as his proper work for De'Vall was finished for the day and his less proper work was set to begin.
As he opened the doors to his office he chuckled to himself that the slaughter that happened today was considered proper work.

In the midst of his internal turmoil, Severin took a second to realize that it was Nicodemus that had grabbed unto his sleeve. The strength in those small, pale fingers was astonishing, but paled in comparison to the voice resounding in his head. While voices and mindly influences weren't unknown to the Doctor, he could tell when it was of his own disease's creation, and he knew without a doubt that, that was not the case.
"How barbaric. These humans have no right to the dead." The voice that echoed in the doctor's mind seemed slow and sad. "I've seen enough. I must take one step closer to my fate; let me down."
The words seem to be an echoing of his own thoughts, yet more extreme than what was going through his head. "Do as you must, my Nicodemus," the doctor whispered, his voice shallow and edged with concern. He knew that the intelligence in those silver eyes was not false, and that the boy had a mind far older than his outward appearance. Gently, and with a little hesitation, the Doctor placed his mysterious child unto the ground, surrounded by the dead, and those who wished to take advantage of them.

Syrin was indeed more interested in the necklace than the conversation and he chortled gleefully as Adalei dangled it close. As the locket swayed he grasped at it, his movements clumsy but still more deft than they had right to be.
Since Adalei didn’t seem to mind, Feyd relented and loosened is grip on the curious babe. Besides, Feyd listening to Elliot. It comforted him to know that the blue youth had been seen as well, though the idea of a nameless, faceless threat was disconcerting. Wasn’t there enough danger after the awakening?

It was comforting to know he wasn’t alone now and despite the earlier, heavier talk, Feyd grinned in return. “It’ll be good to have help.” Syrin was already a small handful. Glancing to the window, Feyd continued “If you need help or a place stay, you’ll always be welcome here as my guest.” It didn’t occur to him to be anything but trusting of the pair. Elliot was from the Other Side, just like Syrin, and so he assume that bonded them. Perhaps he really was a fool.
Syrin had no time for such heavy thoughts. He had been busying watching the sunlight glance off the locket to wheel about the shadowed walls—and then he lunged again, grabbing at the source. Would Elliot teach him to steal from giants when he grew up?

.:: [ . EVENT FOR SEVERIN . ] ::. As Nicodemus sat on the ground, several moments passed, as though nothing would happen. He became quite still, his eyes closed and his limbs limp. Had he fallen asleep, or worse...had death come upon him...? Then, with painful slowness, as though his bones were much older than they appeared, he wrapped his cloak around himself until he became a small bundle of dark cloth. There was nothing fantastic or dazzling about what had occurred, yet when he stood, shedding his cloak like an insect leaving its old shell, he was nearly twice his original size. Nicodemus as a Child .: [ Nicodemus (Child) ] :. [ Physical Traits ] The boy appears small and somewhat frail, though his eyes are always alert and showing hints of some hidden power. He wears a hooded cape, always wearing the hood over his head when in public.
[ Personality and Behavior ] Nicodemus spends much of his time watching Severin intensely without speaking. He is mostly uninterested in other people, even if they're Actors; his attention is spared only for Severin. His gaze is very unsettling for a child, giving the impression of a scientist observing a laboratory rat. In interactions with other people, Nicodemus is always protective of Severin--the sensitive scientist who does not want his experiment disturbed too much before it's run its course. Unfortunately, because he is only a young child, his attempts to defend Severin are never taken seriously.
When Severin shows any sign of physical weakness (e.g., coughing, exhaustion), Nicodemus immediately begins asking him questions like, "Will you be dead soon?" or "How much longer are you going to live?" His curiosity is perfectly innocent and without malice. If he witnesses people desecrating corpses (e.g. eating the dead, scavenging items off of corpses), he becomes extremely indignant and angry. He will shout strange statements like, "You have no right over the dead!" If he finds a corpse (even if it is only a cat or insect), he will insist on burying it, saying, "I've been given the duty to care for the dead." Other than these few moments, his speech is completely like other children's.
When speaking to Severin, he addresses his master with a very formal, "Sir."
[ Relics ]
Nicodemus has called an object from the Other Side: a stuffed toy horse. The toy seems worn but well-loved, with the seams tearing in places. He carries it everywhere he goes. He never uses it as a toy when playing with other children, but instead treats it as a true, living companion. Sometimes he can be seen talking to the horse, stroking its yarn mane.
[ Spell List ] [ * ] Mudo - Type: Dark Description: Once per conflict, Nicodemus can call forth dark powers to overwhelm another person. The person will fall into an uneasy slumber, greatly weakened and near death. This spell is more effective on very young children or sick, elderly people. Because of his young age, Nicodemus does not have complete mastery of the spell yet, and his targets may not succumb to its full effects.

The Doctor watched, his hands flicking fretfully over his jacket, checking the same buttons over and over. The riot that had formerly held his attention could have broken out into song and dance for all he cared. The world had narrowed down to his son, his Self, draped in that hooded cloak. When he finally stood, Severin let out a deep breath he didn't know he was holding and his shoulders visibly relaxed.
Nicodemus stretched for a moment, then turned just his face towards his Guardian, his silver eyes glinting with that same quality they always held. There was a hint of a grin in the corner off his lips, the closest he got to a smile, and it only appeared for the old Doctor. The look faded and he lifted his hood up with one hand, the other clutching his stuffed toy horse. "These people are disgusting, sir," he said quietly, breaking eye contact with his stunned father and casting it over the crowds. "They have no respect."
"No.. They don't. Not many do," Severin responded, his voice rasping with emotion. He didn't know what was going on, his strange son had just grown remarkably and was now speaking perfectly. He even called him sir? He stepped forward awkwardly, then extended a hand, the cuff of his jacket sliding back to expose his pale skin, then awkwardly placed it on Nicodemus' shoulder.

As Eli had headed southeast with Lyra, the shouts and screams of the riot drifted toward him. He lifted his eyes from the ground in surprise, clutching the babe close. What was going on? He hadn't the heart to find out, and turned around, making a bee-line for their stable. Mutt distracted followed them, his ears perking every once in a while to take notice of any particularily loud screams or clashes. Lyra's soft eyes drifted southward as all of her attention was now focused on whatever ruckus had erupted down there. Even as Eli turned corners and moved farther away, she continued to look with curiousity.
"Lyra, yew don' wanna see," Eli whispered to her, gently turning her gaze to meet his own. "Why don' we head home, eh? We c'n work on tha' dream-catcher I've been makin'." Changing the subject. Foolproof.
Once settled inside, Eli let Lyra down and began meticulously cleaning and seperating feathers by color. Mutt must've been off exploring somehwere. Lyra, curious as ever, quietly crawled to the doorflap and peaked her head out. She spotted a woman picking plants much like Eli had showed her. With the ancient canvas folded over her back, Lyra watched Fae with her unending attention span, even though the woman was at the other end of the stables.

The violence was unbelieveable! As Alaina stepped over bodies and blood, she fought her way to the front. She wanted food and she was sure as hell going to get it. Stopping a moment, she stepped on the leg of one particular corpse. Of course, she didn't know what possessed her to look down at this one, but when she did, she saw the familiar face of the girl she had just pondered killing herself.
What was her sister and niece going to do? The sister was weak and the niece was young. Now, they had no protector, no leader. Was she even going to get food for the young one?
Ugh. God damn kind-heart ..

With the arrival of the peace keeping force, things started to abate somewhat and Kaley was most thankful for that, even if her expression outwardly did not show even the slightest hint of that. With the carts now entering the Marsalle Estates region, and being blocked off from the rest of the city by the massive gates, she could see the guards that didn't enter moving forward to protect the rest.
There was a momentary flicker of questioning but she threw it away and chose to depart from the meat grinder to follow the rest of the carts into the Marsalle Estates. She was intent on being alive to collect her pay. She then could go home, leave that food out for the beggar and finally move on to studying and contemplating the oracle and the blasted card she'd given her.
She also had another payment to collect later. That thought brought a cold sharp pain, a remembrance of who she really was, what she really was. Sometimes, she thought, spending too much time as Kaley dooms me to forget who and what I truly am. I am as much of a monster alone, as Sekhet is with it's personal peace enforcers.
Kaley closed her eyes briefly and washed all of those thoughts away with a single thought, I need to finish the job.

Event for Kaelwin!! .:: [ . EVENT FOR KALEY . ] ::. As Kaley followed the supply caravan towards the Marsalles Estates, her consciousness faltered for a mere second, sound and sight ceasing in that one instant. When her senses returned, Kaley felt dizzy and slightly nauseous; was it from exhaustion and the stench of blood that still clung to the air...? Then, she caught sight of a shop just ahead. The door to the place stood open, a faint, blue glow emitting from its entrance. Other soldiers who passed by the door seemed not to notice it all, yet it seemed to beckon Kaley with some irresistible force... Will she answer the call of this strange shop...?

Event for Raynai!! .:: [ . EVENT FOR ELI . ] ::. A quiet afternoon passed in the home that Eli had made with his small family. Sorting through feathers for his craft project, the young man did not notice anything awry until he was interrupted by Mutt, who suddenly barked loudly at a back wall in the building. Upon inspection, it appeared that some large, intricate pattern had been cut roughly into the wall with a knife. The source and nature of the carving was a mystery. However, as Eli stared at the curves and shapes that made the image, the secret meaning seemed to become clear in his mind. The picture, in its abstract shapes, asked a question that penetrated deep into his soul: "Is it better to accept growth, or should we deny the process of aging?"
