Easter is just around the corner... does anyone have plans? I think I will be alone this year, my husband will be on the road working, my son will be at work and my daughter will probibly be out as usual (teenagers are rarely at home)... Any good ideas for food for 1 plus a few pets?

I've sat out quite a few Easters. Usually I just rented a movie, avoided eggs, and called up a loved one or a friend if I felt obligated. There's sunrise services, if you're a specific kind of religious, too, of course. Sometimes the unattached will throw out a few ideas after those - but I tend to avoid that as well.

Myself, I'm driving a ways down to stay with my folks this weekend. My sister will be there, having come to visit for a month or two before returning to her boyfriend abroad. We will crack eggs on our heads and somehow, mysteriously, I will end up with the one unboiled one. Oh, it is to laugh.

I got roped into arranging the Easter Egg hunt for the kids at my church this year. How? I have no idea! Put it down to a moment of senility. Suddenly I'm hit with the reality of me being all that is standing between a hoard of chocolate-crazed kids and their egg fest. eek I'll be lucky if I make it to the field to scatter them all....

I few years ago I was part of the JayCee's in my town. It was my job for 3 different Easters to do the town Easter egg hunt. I would fill my house with small bags (at least 500+) and walk up and down isles of bags putting in candy, small toys, and gift certificates from local businesses. I would fill about 2000 plastic eggs for the hunt itself. I spent about a month before Easter getting donations from businesses and buying candy and larger items for the golden egg event. I would make sure the local paper would run the event and make a big deal of the golden egg kids.

For years after I did that I would do a big easter egg hunt for my kids and their friends. They did it every year until about 3 years ago. The kids were 15 and 18 on the last easter egg hunt.

* lets the cat out *

There is a clear difference to the noise level depending on the number of kids in the house at any sampled time.

idea

* looks wise *

My wife just made me read her a bed time story. She chose DREAMS IN THE WITCH HOUSE by H. P. Lovecraft.

I mention this because of the connection with noise level. The main character starts out acutely sensitive to noises and then goes deaf... er, before a rat thing eats out his heart. I imagine having two ex-girlfriends in the same house would contribute to a very similar feeling.

As for the noise level of kids... do they have access to the base on their stereos? 'Cause I can hear the soldiers from the base shaking the windows of the apartments nearby here from my own little shoebox right now.

Bump-da-da-Bump Bump-da-da-Bump. Tonight I sleep to the gentle rhythms of hip-hop.

Bump-da-da-Bump is what I fall a slep to a lot. My daughter's room is right under ours and both the kids are very into the DDR stuff... She does her DDR before bed most nights and get the pleasure of reminding her to turn the volume down a couple times a night.

Well.. where we ended up is a victorian house that runs a bed and breakfast. There just happens to be wireless internet available so the laptop has come in handy again.

We are sitting in bed killing time until breakfast comes up, I am posting on Gaia and Thomas is crocheting a baby blanket for the baby of the girl that is staying at our house.

Well.. you know how us internet people are.

The breakfast they brought up this morning had a tray of fruit where they even cut the watermellon in heart shapes.

Do you ever get down? The serious lows... the kind that makes you want to quit your job, walk away from everything and just take a long break where you tell no one where you are going and for how long?

I get them a few times a year, nothing horrible or too long term, but I really hate it.

oh yes, many's the time when i long to run away and hide from the world, but being grown-up we're not allowed to do that anymore sad
