well pixel, steampunk is an alternate history set in the victorian era. the style is quite unique. we could have the ball on an airship, i would really like that

the airships (and everything else) are powered by steam produced by heating water with coal. they have steam trains and cars but airships are the prefered method of transportation.

The second picture reminds me of the airships on final fantasy that are used for travel purposes. So I am guessing these ships don't have 'rooms' like that of a cruise ship.. but more of a ferry if I were to compare it to land vessels? It's doable, and I definitely wouldn't rule it out, although, I do believe keeping the floor open for more ideas is also our best route for now. I keep thinking of these ships and start thinking up a big huge battle in the sky and have to constantly remind myself that our base audience is female. -scratches out alien and zombie invasions and quests to save the world-
Regardless to what theme we chose, we're going to be dealing with one group of people who will likely not like it and one that does-- but I imagine our prime role will be taking the theme and twisting and manipulating it into a means to entertain the mass public in a way they can relate to it. I also imagine that we will be hosting late spring/early summer so a theme that makes sense in that season will also be important. mmm.. ice cream factory! j/k.. but i am going to grab some ice cream biggrin

well these are small ships meant for just one party, possibly pirate ships others can be HUGE the admiral's airship could easily be as large as we need it to be.

It would be so awesome to do steam punk, but how would we fit that into T-corp?

Tossing my hat into the lions pen what about one for the space ?? ive noticed that their are a few items gaians can use to make them selfs seam like stars, aleins, space travelers. for the rooms we could have it take place in an exporitorem (i think thats what the place is called its like a musem were you lurn about stars, planets, blackholes, ect.) Findding pictures of space would be simple and i dont think it would be to hard to come up with games, roleplays, and party rooms all wraping around this theme. Im almost sure that a lot of people would like it ^.^ Too bad your the one to go get it

thing is, steampunk is just anything we want powered by steam haha its that simple lol we dont really need to set it in the victorian era although thats the usual age its set in. Since we're basically taking the ball and theme into our own hands and we're already creating our own Gods from Sins, I dont see whats wrong with importing steampunk from the victorian era into another era we're familiar with.
Bleeding Angel- T...corp? ._.
Pixilated- and some Final Fantasy's uses steampunk a lot, but not all of them haha FF9 has one of the most, in my opinion. FF12 can be passed too, but I tend to look at FF12 as a cooler version of Star Wars Lol typing this and reading on how the Gods represent one sin, I suddenly thought that maybe the airship that the guests are on accidentally crossed the borders of divine beings, since they were flying 'too high' haha (ambition, perhaps?) XD And some of the Gods felt angered by this, and some were just curious or whatever so entered the ship as well; and as they enter, the rooms, like Pixilated said, takes on whatever sin the Gods are lol
You can also have invasions as well if you want; since these airships are usually filled with rich and high ranked people in the stories, sky pirates love to target them lulz
maybe when the ships people are taking on the sins the Gods are, sky pirates suddenly attacked or something; making the ship an easy target. Some people who are lucky enough to not be in a room where the Gods are still have control over their own emotions- so perhaps they can try to find a way to get everyone back to normal, appease the God, get rid of the pirates etc whatever lol just throwing in more ideas.
Sisterbroken- lol darn, I cant help but think Gundam and Vandread whenever space comes up crying

TemporalMeteor Unseen Daydream Legends/mythology The Seas are rule by Triton, the final brother of Zeus and Hades, he rules the tides. He, however, is rather greedy, and is always trying to submerged more Earth beneath his waters to expand his territory. -------------------------------- poseidon is the god of the sea and he doesnt try to submerge the land.... he protects sailors from storms at sea and makes fish bountiful... he doesnt really try to take over anything...... really now? I must be getting my legends mixed up again ^^; But than who is I'm thinking about than? Now that's going to annoy me all day, trying to figure out who it was I was thinking about...

i think anime is even more on top of this steampunk stuff then i am... alternatly steampunk can also be a post apocalypse thing, with coal being the only remaining fuel source and the earths minerals stripped they must take to the skys to survive. so it can be in either the past, present, or future. i like the idea from anime about flying too high or too far (into the realm of the gods) and them coming onto the ship. but hey cant go wrong with sky pirates pirate i dunno.... i like all the ideas
Ive got it! we could all be in kind of a crossroads wherethese rifts have opened up. and through each rift a different reality is taking place, we could encompass all the ideas and we wouldnt limit ourselves to even two ideas, we could have crossovers from steampunk, the romans, gods, we could have a dark carnival in one, a medieval castle in another
each different reality could be a "room" a different thread. we could have a few ooc forums for people who dont want to rp but for the ones who DO we could have literally INFINITE possibilitys

It's not because of the idea but because of the length of the post. Now my head hurts from reading it again. I like the idea it's just will anyone actually go for it? Because their aren't very many pirate outfits for the theme.

Temporal- lol thanks, but not really haha I'm just blabbing rubbish out <_< lol rifts? So a airship suddenly crash lands in a carnival....XXD And that picture...is that you? eek
Crystal Knight- I never heard of a rule that states how a pirate must dress before....besides, we're basically recreating our own world, our version of steampunk and myths. Meaning, we create our own sky pirates =D and note the sky pirates~ There really isnt any guidelines to how sky pirates dress haha and pirates are just basically those who takes the works of others and makes it their own, they hijack and loot what they can and want- thats all it takes to make a pirate: not how they dress whee We can have a noble pirate if we want lol

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if I had to perish twice,
Valiae says...>> Hi all! I'm just popping back into the guild after vacation and I was pleasantly suprised to see so many pages in this topic. After reading all of your wonderful ideas, I have several points that I'd like to make.
1. As Pixi said, why do we have to limit ourselves to 7 rooms? Or even rooms at all? There are many alternatives that I believe can make the ball just as fun as when it had rooms, but make the 8th annual ball a different and interesting experience. As previously mentioned, I think we can use the non stickied posts as effectively as stickied "Main rooms". Since one of the main issues that I saw with using only stickied rooms for the ball was that there wasn't much movement between rooms by the guests, I thought of a different idea. If people are still intent upon having specific rooms, why don't we create them as the plot progresses, and have all of the guests and the hosts move through them at the same time. {This may be overly ambitious, since there is probably going to be an insane amount of traffic in said threads}. For example, all of the guests start out in the main room, and for whatever reason (in the plot), a second room becomes available for the guests to go into. The first room is then locked, and everyone moves to the second room, where they face trials and tribulations, complete that room's plot, and open the third room, to which all of the guests must once again move. Since this idea can seem a bit forceful {because locking the threads essentially forces everyone to gravitate to a different thread} and because of the traffic problem, another solution could be to have the first room open. Then when the second room opens, the guests can choose to stay in the first room or move to the second room. However, this leaves the chance that there will be no one that wants to venture to the final rooms as more rooms become available. All of these ideas were merely thrown out there in an attempt to expand the possibilities of this ball beyond the expectation of having 7 set rooms in the beginning.
Oh, and I think the number 7 is stemming from the precedent set by the 7th annual ball's number of ball rooms. But I am encouraging you all to break out of these set paths that you have seen made by previous balls and come up with new, fresh ideas that will revitalize the 8th annual ball and get the event more attention than ever before!
2. This may be restating the point that I had before, but I urge every one of the contributers to this ball to break free of the expectations and precedents set by previous balls! Come up with new, interesting ideas, and lots of them. I wanted to mention that I had noticed that a lot of you guys have been focused on developing a few main ideas that have been proposed. But there is argument that the ideas are too overused! So propose new ideas that can be elaborated on. I love that you have started to develop the carnival, mythology and steampunk ideas, but there are more options to bring to light as well, and I personally feel as though our planning process is restricted by not considering more thematic possibilities.
3. That being said, you can also propose previously stated ideas in a different light to refresh them and get other people's creative juices flowing. This is what I have attempted to do. As I read through this thread, I noticed a slight trend in many of the proposed themes: Celebrations ~Relating to mythology, we could have something based on a Feast with the Gods. ~For the scifi theme, we could hold a Scifi/Comic Convention. ~A Carnival {I think where that came from is pretty obvious} ~A Victorian tea party perhaps on an airship, from the steampunk theme. ~For the board games, I was thinking a sort of family game night. ~Someone mentioned wine, and it made me think of the Tavern Parties that are held for bachelors before they get married. [This is an idea that I didn't develop at all, and one that we may have trouble keeping under PG13.] ~When someone mentioned cyberpunk my mind went immediatley to a Rave. ~The idea of the movements and mention of art made me think of an art exhibit at a museum. ~And finally, a murder mystery dinner party could start out a fun night with a deadly twist.
I would love to get feedback on those ideas, I really just wanted to throw them out there for consideration. I'm really excited to see what new ideas you guys can come up with as well! I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. ~Robert Frost
