Wolfie grinned at Yuki's childish behavior. It was cute. She opened her palm out flat, showing off the old, rustic key. "You open it."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 26, 2006 11:27 am

Yuki gasped gleefully. "Really?!" It wasn't really a question, more of a shocked statement. She plopped to her knees and took the key from Wolfie. After looking over it for a moment, she slid the key into the trunk's keyhole and prayed it would work. Slowly, she turned the key. The loud clanks comming from the trunk told Yuki that the key was a perfect fit for it.

"It works!" She pulled the key out and handed it back to Wolfie. Her hands rested on the lid of the trunk and lifted it slowly. A cloud of dust sprayed out and into Yuki's face, sending her into a coughing fit. She waved the dust away and cleared her eyes.

Hakana was sitting back watching her owner and Wolfie examine the trunk. Once Yuki was occupied by the dust, Hakana took it upon herself to take the first glance into the trunk. She put her from paws on the edge of the trunk and lowered her head in. When she pulled her head back out, various, multicolored bangles were dangling from her mouth. She sat them on the floor and slipped her paw into them.

"Hakana! Get out of there...that's Wolfie's stuff." She shooed her away and shook her head as the bangles around Hakana's ankle jingled. She laughed at Wolfie. "Looks like Hakana is nosier than I am." She glanced into the trunk and noticed discolored squares. They looked like pictures, but she wasn't sure who they were of. She also noticed a few familiar items that she had seen in Wolfie's store like the earings and bracers, but not the same colors and patterns. "Hmm..." She spotted something that reflected the light in the room and took her hand and lightly moved some things around. "Oh!" She pulled out a few articles of jewlery. "They must have belonged to your Aunt." She held them out for Wolfie to take.

((If you didn't want me to put items in the trunk then I can edit it out *nods* biggrin ))

((thats fine... there are a few items Tal and I are 'adding' to the trunk for an upcoming RP prompt ^^ ))

Wolfie watched the pup play with the bangles. With slight hesitation she prodded her memory for the answer to where those came from. India? Yes, India. "My uncle had gotten them from India," Wolfie began to tell Yuki as she pointed to the bangles. "When his ship had to be docked at a trade port for a month. Bad storm waters has caused all the currents to shift and the seas had been too dangerous to travel. It was the only time in his life that he remembered such stormy weather for so long." She paused thinking some more.

"He won those bangles from the portmaster in a game of chess." She snickered. "The funniest part was that the portmaster let my uncle win. He couldnt play chess to save his life and the old man felt pity on him. Though, Im sure my uncle never admitted to having really lost the match, he knew he was given the trinkets as a sign of luck and faith upon the high seas. Red is good luck. Yellow is rememberance and the green ones are for wealth."

Yuki's eyes lit up and she turned to Wolfie. "India? Wow! That sounds like quite an adventure." She looked over to Hakana, who now had her head back in the trunk. The bangles were still so shiney and beautiful even after many years in a dusty trunk. Yuki shifted and rummaged around some more and then looked back at Wolfie and blushed. "I'm sorry. Here..." She scooted over and left the spot in front of the trunk empty for Wolfie to sit in. "It's your turn. Kanny shoo."

Hakana romoved her head from the trunk and walked around the back of it. This time, the bangles weren't the only things that were jingling. She walked around the trunk and sat between Yuki and Wolfie. Pretty jeweled necklaces hung loosely around her neck.

((Well now is my chance to see what you're going to add biggrin *excited for upcoming RPs* surprised Where has Tal been?))

((RL issues. Shes back now and packed with great ideas!))

"Those jewels are from England. And no," Wolfie giggled a bit "They arent the queen's jewels." Wolfie took a seat and began shuffling through the old photos. Many were of her Uncle at different places around the world and important people that had meant something to him.

She fingered a tiny crackled photo and held it up to Yuki. "This was the guy he won the bangles from." Wolfie flipped the photo over and was disappointed that there was no name or date to go with things.

Wolfie gasped lightly as she found a picture of her aunt and uncle together. It was old, and weathered, but intact none the same inside an old gold leafed frame. Wolfie guessed it was only about two inches big inside the frame, but it held great purpose to her. "I promise you Auntie, Im gonna make this all work." She spoke under her breath, fingering the dust off the glass carefully.

With a saddened frown she wondered why her aunt hadnt put this up somewhere. The two of them were on a beach somewhere, palm trees blowing in the wind, waves lapping at their bare feet. Wolfie's Aunt had on some sort of flowing dress, a sun hat in one hand. Her uncle a button up shirt, equally flowing. Must have been a nice place for them to look so happy, she thought.

"Wow jewels from England, bangles from India...I'm jealous." Yuki giggled and looked at the picture of the man that the bangles were won from. "Cool..."

Yuki fixed the jewels around Hakana's neck so they would not be broken. "Now you be careful alright? Those aren't yours and you can't afford to break them." She smiled as she received a yip from her pup.

She turned to Wolfie, who was examining an old picture. She heard something come from Wolfie, but was not sure what she had said. Obviously the picture meant a lot to her and Yuki did not want to interupt her thoughts.

Hakana whined softly and pressed her head against Wolfie's arm. She could tell that something was upsetting her and tried her best to cheer her up. She scooted closer and placed her head on Wolfie's lap.

((I hope everything is alright with her. I'm glad to hear she's back with ideas!))

Wolfie pet the pup thoughtfully and with a soft sigh looked into her eyes. "Arent you the stunning one at the party?" She ruffled Hakana's fluff a bit and gave her a reassuring pat.

"Me too. But Im beginning to wonder of this old house isnt just as much as an adventure. Who would have ever thought there would be sealed up chambers and waterfalls and things in the trees and swamps?" She stopped and passed the photo to Yuki for a moment shuffling through other things inside the trunk.

Finding an old ships log Wolfie smiles. "This would interest you. Perhaps you should take it and read it sometime? Might make good fun before bedtime to read to Hakana." She pushed off a layer of dust and opened the book, testing the bindings slightly before scanning over a page, yellowed with time and warped with salt water.

" 'June 12, 1974: Today we embarked on a journey that is to take us half-way around the world to the land down under. Though the outback is someplace I have never really dreamed of visiting, Beatrice thought it would be nice for me to take the time to meet with the Aussies and discuss plans to bring back a sugar glider. She has a real desire for one of those cutely wretched little beasts. However much I protested, she never gave in. Stubborn as a mule she is. So here I am wondering why I am such a fool to have just picked up what I was doing and head to Australia to talk about flying rats that like sweets. With disgust, I hope she finds better companionship in getting a dog. Or I find something worth my while in order to finally afford that ring I had been meaning to get her. Until next time, fare-the-well.' "

Wolfie stopped to catch her breath. "This was written before my uncle married my aunt. They were only dating at the time. Its funny to hear his stories sometimes. Somewhere in here is how he finally purchased her a great dane, Spud. He never did end up coming home with one of those gliders. Turned around half-way through that trip if you keep reading." Wolfie laughed and slapped the book closed, handing it to Yuki.

Yuki watched her pup's head explode at the compliment. Hakana's sat up and puffed her chest out, in an attempt at being regal. It didn't work too well and Yuki laughed and look the picture from Wolfie. Slowly she stood up as she examined it and found a nice place for it on the mantel. "I'll sit it here. A picture this nice should be out for everyone to see, but up high out of the reach of adventurous little pups." She turned and shot a glance at Hakana, causing her pup to huff a little and turn her nose up snootily.

She looked over at Wolfie curiously. Before she could ask what it was, Wolfie had opened and old book and began reading. She made her way slowly over to her and sat down, studying the book. She laughed and took the book. "Poor Aunty never got her glider?" She tucked the book under her arm. "I think Kanny will like this before bedtime. Thank you." She smiled. "Was there anything else that you found in there?" As she spoke she pulled Hakana over and attempted to take the jewlery off of her.

Hakana's claws scraped the floor in a desperate attempt to avoid her owner. She squealed when she felt the jewlery being lifted and ran over behind Wolfie as if to use her as a shield. Her head poked around Wolfie's side and she gazed up at Wolfie as if begging for Wolfie to allow her to play with the shiney jewlery some more.

"I think Talencia might want to come look with us. I know she was eyeing the trunk earlier before too." Wolfie pulled out a rustic looking compass and watched the needle spin a bit before setting north towards her. "looks like it still works." She commented. "Perhaps we can try it out sometime in the woods or something"

Talencia was finishing being sure Tira couldn't stumble into the stair room. The lovely blind wolf was currently involved in fussing over the babies, licking and nudging and generally looking as happy as could be with the new addition to the Moonlit clan.

She tousled Moragana's ears and got up to come join them at the trunk. Morgana padded along with her and also perked her ears and peered in.

"So what have you found? Anything intriguing and mysterious?" She grinned and settled down to sit next to the trunk, twitching her nose at the old, musty smell. She peeked in with interest.

"A few trinkets from old trips, a ships journal of sorts," Wolfie paused and pointed to Yuki "In which Hakana will love hearing at bedtime. And theres this compass" She holds out her hand. "And an old photo of my Aunt and Tom up on the mantle where we have placed it."

Wolfie watched Talencia's reaction for a moment and moved a whisp of her sticky dusty hair out of her eyes. She just couldnt seem to get this one strand to stick. "Something about that photo strikes me, you know?" She spoke to Tal as if in half-thought with herself. "As if it wants to speak to me. I know. tell me Im crazy. Im sure that a few bonks on the head, a tumble or two and being chased by god knows what has cracked me." She snickered a bit, then turned solemn when Tal didnt answer right away. "You know you dont have to agree with me like that...." Her voice trailed off.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 27, 2006 9:42 pm

Tal stood up while Wolfie was talking and appraoched the picture she was talking about. When her friend trailed off she glanced back at her with an amused look. "Oh, we love you just like you are, Wolfie, and you know it!" She turned back to the framed photo and gently picked it up. It surely wasn't terribly big. She turned and leaned back against the solid fieldstone rock fireplace. She examined it closely and ran her fingers across the frame thoughtfully.

"Wolfie...," she began and took a half step forward. Just then, here came the dusty brown pup from around the corner. He was running with his tongue lolling, ears flapping, a look of puppyish delight in getting away from the bath Tira had been giving him.

And here came Tira, dashing after him! She was clearly relying on listening to where the puppy went to navigate at her high rate of speed. She did managed to pivot perfectly around an end-table, but that was because it had always been there, never been moved. Her memory generally served her very well in traversing the house.

But Tal was now standing directly in the way! The pup dashed between her legs without any hesitation or pause to indicate to the blind she-wolf that there was a living obstacle there. Thus it was that full-grown Tira rammed full force into Talencia.

Tira let out a surprised and fearful yelp. Talencia yelped too, but halfway through the sound it changed from astonishment to dismay. For in nearly being knocked over, she'd lost her grip on the old picture. In slow motion, she watched as it flung from her fingertips. She reached as best she could to catch it, but ended up just sending it spinning in the air even further from her. With a second cry she watched as it shattered on the stone fireplace.

"Oh Wolfie, I'm so sorry!" She wanted to scramble to pick up the photo, but was instead wrapping her arms about the shaken and upset Tira, who knew she'd created the chaos. She was mindful of the wolf's paws and wanted to restrain her from stepping into the pool of shattered glass that glittered brightly on the hearth.

((*tackle/cling* welcome back tal biggrin ))

Yuki nodded to Wolfie. "Sounds like another adventure to me." She glanced down at the compass then turned and welcomed Tal into the group. She was sitting next to Morgana as the wolf peered into the trunk and took it upon herself to scratch the wolf's ears softly.

Not looking at Wolfie, she didn't notice that her expression had changed, so she cheerfully piped in an addition to Wolfie's answer. "The trinkets seem to be Hakana's favorite part. They've gone straight to her head." She giggled at her pup after she huffed snootily at her again then looked up at Wolfie, without letting her smile fade. "Yup! We wouldn't want you to change for the world." She nodded to her agreement.

Slowly, the smile on her face faded and a horrified expression took its place, she Yuki watched the scene unfold before her. "Oh no." Yuki sprang up and went to the photo. 'At least it's not ripped. The frame can be replaced.' That was the bright side of things. She picked up an edge of the photo and slid the broken glass into her palm then turned to Wolfie. "It's okay. The picture itself is still intact. And that's what's most important." She gave her friend a reasuring smile, then picked up the rest of the piece of the picture frame.

Hakana sniffed around. Her eyes scanned the room. They darted from Wolfie, to Tal and Tire, to Yuki, and then to the pup. She padded her way over to him, jingling the whole way there. She looked at him curiously, not too sure how to take his dustiness, then rammed her head into his side and pulled his ear, as if telling him she wanted to play.

((From the back porch...))

Now that he was warming up a little, Blade placed a hand into the one pocket where he had put that one odd looking stone. He pulled it out slightly while he walked around the old home to take another glance at it.

But as he heard some voices nearby, he slipped it back into his pocket as he stood by silently. So it seemed that there were people living here afterall. And from the sounds of it, there were at least two people around. Though it made him wonder why they would want to stay in a place that looked as if parts of it could fall apart at any moment.

Shivering a little from a slight chill that had lingered with him, he cautiously walked a little closer to maybe catch sight of the group that resided here. Hopefully, they wouldn't do anything such as attacking him for trespassing as some normally did.

Then again, when he normally entered a home, he wouldn't have planned on getting caught or leaving empty handed for that matter..

After stepping in from the back porch, Blue began to warm up slightly. She noticed it was warmer than outside. "There must be people living here if it is warm, right Eros?" Blue said. "Yes I suppose there might be." Eros thought to Blue. Blue walked forward some more thinking about what to do next. She then hears voices off in the next room and decides to make herself known. "Hello is anybody here?" Shes yells. "You know that might not have been a good idea." Eros thought to her. "Why? I would rather have them know I was here then for them to not. What if the discovered us and they kicked us out for not annoucing ourselfs? Hmm... What then?" Blue asked. Eros sighs and gives in knowing that he was going to win against her. "Alright. Lets just hope that their friendly." he thought to her.
