Thyme cringed as he watched Cocklebur lunge at the doe. He hated himself for not stepping in now, but there wasn’t much he could do. Lowering his head, his ears lay back as he closed his eyes, “I can’t watch this, its barbaric!” At least one of them was most likely going to die from this fight, though Thyme had little to no sympathy for Cocklebur.

Blackwort wiggled a ripped ear as he heard Sparrow's words, momentarily glancing at him, regarding his advice. "I'll keep it in mind," He said quickly, then gave him a nod. "You shouldn't be going near her either, lest you get infected. That would be the last thing we need right now, I'm sure."

When Cocklebur began to beat up the doe, Blackwort just stood back, his back rigid and stiff. He was ready for back up if ordered. But for right now, he would just stand and watch. When the chief did the same, he couldn't help but feel even more in the right.

"What is, is what must be." He said gruffly, flicking an ear back to the others. It seemed they were just watching too. Nobody else was in any immediate danger, so he remained still.

Rosewood had just gotten Birchwood into their little part of the warren and re-emerged when the fight broke out. She stiffened, watching as the beautiful but possibly deadly doe instigated one of the possible worst decisions their Captain had ever made. She couldn't breathe, and her skin quivered, not wanting to watch, but not able to drag her eyes away. She moved up closer to where the black, obviously Owsla buck sat watching as helpless as all the others.

"What are we going to do now...."

Duskshadow heard the commotion and saw the diseased hlessi, was she as stupid as she looked? she must be, how foolish of her. She asked to get beaten up. Duskshadow did nothing but watch, she knew this doe had it coming.

The anger in Cockleburs actions and eyes should have scared her but it made him all the more interesting to her. She knew she should do something but she did not, instead she saw Blackwort near by. she knew he was thinking the something as her.

She hopped over to Blackwort and gave him a look saying 'oh boy'

Dewberry coughed and spluttered, blood filling her mouth. She didn't have the strength or stamina to keep up the fight that Cocklebur saw fit to finish. Had she ever put that temper to good use in the past, she may have made a feared and strong owsla, something her father may have been right to be proud of. She might have stood even the faintest of chance more against this giant Owsla. But today, it may just have been proven that the smallest wound was indeed the deadliest.

None of the hlessi knew who was diseased and who was immune, if any. Dewberry may not even be as deadly as they had imagined, but it was far too late for that now. No doubt Cocklebur had been labeled as a possible carrier, and would have to be quarantined like the others and herself.

She backed away, blindly, sorely.. the whole of the front end of her body was covered in gashes and wounds, her ears ripped to shreds like Ailein's, he shoulders and chest soaked in the dark red liquid along with her face, her eyes most certainly gone for the rest of her days. It didn't look too bright for her, even if she had been as clean as a pet dove.

Dewberry could barely breathe, let alone speak, and so she did not, leaving her injured body to slump, submissively on the ground. She would obey now, if she could even find her way there, along with her own feet. Other than face the black rabbit now, there was little else she could do, and could only wait, for once silenced, for some form of guidance, be it another rabbit of the Black rabbit himself.

She wasn't so far away that she couldn't hear at least a bit of what was going on. Shouting, sounds of fighting, and Ivy for one wasn't going to stick around. She could have sworn she heard Dewberry up there, but that was just ridiculous. She was at the scrapes with the others by now, surely.

At least, she told that to her twisting insides as she quickly herded the two kittens away. The light misty rain might not be terrible, but with all these two had gone through, some shelter sounded in order anyway. Besides, she had to get away from that awful sound, she had to tell herself it would all be fine, and that they would all be safe soon enough. They just needed a little rest, that was all. Just a little rest and it would all be alright.

She resisted the urge to nudge Mud and Pepper along, wanting so very badly to comfort them as well as herself with contact, but she wasn't sure if that was acceptable yet. Instead, she put her efforts into searching the Down for an ideal place to set up camp for them. Soon she couldn't hear the sounds coming from the warren, no matter how she twitched her gray ears. They were a bit more than half way along the Down when Ivy led them down the slope. High ground would've been ideal for a large number, but just the three of them? Cover would be more important, and hopefully cradled between the warren and the scrapes would offer them decent protection without being too close.

It wasn't long until she found what she was looking for. Shrubs growing on the hillside, with soft earth underneath. She started digging the moment she found the right angle, cutting in low and deep, so that the roots would hold up the soil to create a secure roof. The digging was easy, with few stones, and even though her body ached, she felt good knowing that she was helping make a temporary home for the little ones. She watched them from the corner of her eye, giving them time to rest as she dug.

"It won't be long now you two. A new, warm burrow; and in just a little time back in the warren! You won't even notice the days passing, you'll see."

She tried to soothe them as much as herself. They would make it, they had to. Inle be damned, she was going to keep these two safe from everything.

Once Dewberry slumped over in defeat, that's when Cocklebur finally stopped his assault. He backed up a pace and glowered down at the now heavily beaten doe. He then snorted and turned to face the staring eyes of the rabbits that were watching.

Bracken hopped forward but kept his distance. "Cocklebur, what in Frith's name were you thinking?!"

The captain huffed. "She deserved it did she not? I alone have the backbone to do what you can not!"

"And now my captain of Owsla is condemned from the warren as well! You fool!"

Cocklebur scowled as he came to realize the truth. "You had condemned us all already. There is no one to blame but yourself, Bracken-rah."

Bracken shook his head. "Think what you will. What is done is done. Now get going, and..." he glanced towards Dewberry's tattered form. "Clean up your mess." With that the chief moved away. "I've had enough. Everyone back into the burrows, now! Except you, Blackwort. I want you to make sure that none of that group is still lingering anywhere within sight of this tree."

Cocklebur growled to himself then turned back to Dewberry. "Get up and get moving. You'll attract the elil with all that blood."

Rosewood needed no more prompting to run back to Birchwood. She was sick to her stomach, and needed the cool air. Bracken-rah had condemned Cocklebur! He had condemned himself.... and now things were going to change. Oh how she wished the diseased had never come to their warren, wished they had gone the other way, or not stopped. They brought only death and unhappiness. She had never been fond of their Owsla captain, but neither had she wished harm on him.

She filled Birchwood in when she got to him. He was abnormally quiet, undoubtedly thinking of the future. As were many right now.

Ninebark stiffened as Bramblebur started off. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong. And Blood seemed to tickle his nose, though the fight was far too off for any of them to have smelled it this soon. His fur bristled and his pale eyes widened.

"Bramblebur! Wait!" He called and dashed from the scrape quickly in an attempt to catch up. His sides were heaving and there was a wild look about him as he dashed as fast as his large paws carried him. "Wait! Careful! It's CLOSE! DARKNESS!" He whimpered soundly and in a high pitched tone.

"I am okay I don't need help"

he grumbled as he pushed up ahead away from ivy, he was not used to people watching out for him, he was used to doing it himself. As always he preferred to do it himself, plus he did not want to get sicker then he already is.

He heard the commotion but ignored it and instead set to digging the bolt hole wider and bigger.

Duskshadow looked at the commotion she looked at bracken-rah then thought of pepper she ran over to bracken-rah remembering something.

"Bracken-rah I was in another warren as a kitten the one where the palgue hit I was born from a diseased mother so perhaps I am immune may I help them too please bracken?"

she begged hoping her past would help her get back to pepper, she gave him a look of pain and determination.

Cowslip needed no second bidding. Watching the fight had been brutal. Cocklebur had lit into that female and now was banished, himself. He shook slightly as he slunk into the warren, leaving the outside to find his burrow. His black and white coat was bristled and his silver eyes were narrowed to slits as he focused on leaving, his task at paw.

Dewberry could hear things, was she starting to hallucinate, or was she really already that close to death. The voices around her echoed hauntingly around her head, meaning almost lost to the words, before a single phrase came rather clear. The buck who had done this to her was telling her to move. To move where? To the scrapes, she assumed, though she didn't know where they were.

"Will you take me..?" She asked, the pride and prissy tone gone from her voice, replaced with a timid unsurity. She slowly rose back up to her feet, swallowing the blood that had filled her throat. She could no longer be fussy, she wanted, nay, she needed somewhere to rest. She didn't care where now, a small bush would do fine for her to curl up and sleep under, as long as it protected her from this drizzle, her already soaked through body was starting to ache more than it should. She didn't wish for a chill to add to her low blood level.

Teetering lightly, she rubbed at her nose to clear it from the stench of blood. There was no way Cocklebur would hum or something for her to follow, and although his hopping would be rather heavy to hear, her ears could barely recognize his speech, let alone anything else. She'd need to follow his scent to get anywhere.

Cocklebur stared at Dewberry for a few moments upon her request. Well now... seemed that he had beat the insolence out of her quite thoroughly. As satisfying as he had thought it would be, the captain found it not being so. He grunted a little, not really being sure how bad off she really was.

"Yeah. Come on," he told her before starting to hop towards the opposite end of the down from the warren. He knew full well where the scrapes were and could easily lead her there. He kept his pace slow in order for her to keep up, but not without sending a glare at Bracken's turned back.

Thyme opened his good eye and sat up as the Chief ordered them back to the burrows. Surely Bracken wasn’t going to send Cocklebur down with the others, what if he hurt them? The kittens and the lovely doe he met were down there! “He could kill them!” he shook his head, trying to remove the thought from his mind, after all it might not happen, and it’s not like Cocklebur could stay up here after that.

Of course, Sparrow had certainly not needed telling twice to get into the warren. After seeing such a fight, he had wanted to bolt down those holes for quite some time, however the two rabbits were between him and such safety.
It almost had a near traumatic effect on him, seeing blood and fur fly from the doe, who retaliated just as viciously! It may have had little effect, but he could sense that Cocklebur's future wouldn't be very bright for the next week or so, even if he managed to stay clear of that disease haunting the new hlessi. He definitely felt sorry for the Hlessi themselves, being forced to host the iron-paw of the Down's finest owlsa.

After the command for them all to return into the saftey and warmth of the burrows, Sparrow spoke his farewells to the great lord of disaster, before bolting down into the maze like structure that was his home. There was little smell of the disease, so maybe he could at least pretend this whole idea was just a horrifying nightmare. If just for a while.
