Llune smiled at the new elf as he spoke, her cheeks only coloring slightly at the mention of "mother to be." She smiled again as he enjoyed the tea. And then he asked about skills...

"Well, I think each of us are skilled in our way... I can not speak for the others, but I am skilled in the crafting of fabrics and the like..." she points to the grass mats that Zayn and Crosscurrent are sitting on, "I made the mats beneath you, and," she motions to the baskets lining the rock-shaped shelf, "those baskets, many of them are able to hold water." She shrugs, slightly, the motion more delicate and graceful on her delicate frame than it would've been on anyone else.

"The others have skills as well... Blaze knows fire, StarSong and my Savith are great hunters, Peyote feeds us well... We are stronger together than we could ever be apart," she smiles again, "And I am glad that you have found your way to us as well! Tell me, Tidalwave, what skills do you possess?" The genuine curiosity is as obvious in her voice as it would have been in a send.

After another sip of the warming tea Tidalwave smiled slightly. "I am a protector and fighter. A guard if you will." The words making him touch the massive scar on his chest. "In the waters the sharks abound as well as barracuda and other predators. So I do my best to keep everyone safe while they play, work and just go about daily life." Looking at the cave he took note to the mats and baskets then drinks down the last of his tea.

Setting the cup on a mat Tidalwave glances at the stairwell. "Still it must be a bother for Fathom to be locked to the waters when we are both gone from her. Maybe I should go sit with her a bit." The long form stood and smiled briefly at Llune. "She is needy of attention, much like a child." The smallest hint of a chuckle leaving him as he teased.

"Oh!" Llune exclaims, unaware that there's another elf downstairs until the moment Zayn mentions it, "I didn't realize!" She pauses thoughtfully for a moment, the steam from her tea wafting to her nose, "Would your friend like a cup of tea as well?" she asks, moving towards the supplies to prepare another steaming cup, "I would be happy to meet her, afterall..."

Before Zayn or anyone else can answer though, the tea is made and Llune turns back with two steaming cups in her hand, ready to head to the cave below with a treat for the *other* new elf. "My son, Savith," she says, moving toward the wavedancer, "Was a protector of our tribe as well..." She smiles at her son over her shoulder, the beam of a proud mother, "Well, and I suppose he *is* a protector of our *new* tribe too!"

"As you like." Is all he says to Llunes reply. With a light hand he places it on Crosscurrents shoulder to draw his attention should his mind be tangled up with the healers. "I will go sit with Fathom for a bit and the Glider Mother would like very much to meet her." Tidalwave already growing fond of Llune. A Mother to be always holding a special place in his mind. Such frail beings yet with the strength to bring forth new life and keep the race going. Without waiting for a reply he started to the stairs and made his way down them to where Fathom and DewPaw were.

As Dancer slept and took in any send Crosscurrent gave her the body moved. A hand stretching out in her sleep as if searching for something. A soft moan gurgled from her till her fingers ran over some of the long blond blue streaked hair. Entwining her fingers in it she pulled her arm back in close to her body and rested peacefully.

If Crosscurrent held any warniness of Llune going below with Tidalwave to meet with Fathom it didn't show itself. He didn't even react to the tugging of his long locks as he watched Savith with half-masted eyes, calm and rested. Waiting for the others to leave immediate hearing range with polite stillness. When he spoke it was with the lulling tone he seemed to be keeping for Dancer's sleeping sake.

"Having seen the mark my Chiefs have left on me and my brother I can only guess at the one you must bare from your Mad One,"
he confessed lightly. As if it were an idle thought.

"But so far you have not harmed the others as Gliders have done my tribe over the many tides. For Midnight Dancer, the youngling below, and your mother I have stayed close when I should have gone to seek my kin. Because it is the right thing, blood to distant blood, to do."

A pensive smile as he really looked at the Glider, his voice lowering slightly.

"And by nature I do not enjoy having to watch you for that same madness. And I can not trust a kin-catcher who has no doubt done or seen much of what makes me watch him so closely." A pause as green eyes noticed the Glider's movements at the deliberate pressure he wasn't going to ask aloud just yet. A serious distrust in his gaze.

"So I will say this: we will help hunt and gather as we can from the Vast Deep's edge. Fathom can craft a little, although your mother is better able in that for you. We will come often enough to not be so missed. But you, once proud catcher of Wavedancers, will not visit my two tribemates if alone with them. I do not mind it of your mother, but you I still will watch."

A brief flash of humor as he continued with, "I am not saying to not befriend each other if you wish. Tidalwave might be a brotherly soul in some ways to you. And we are not two tribes at the moment. I have no doubt Dancer and Llune will have us together much of the time soon enough."

If it had cost the Wavedancer anything is say this that too didn't show. An expirenced watcher might have noticed the small twitches he made sitting there so long. His back mucles twinging at the position.

Llune follows Zayn down into the lower cave, offering but a gentle nod as she passes the others.

OOC: I'm sorry! I almost forgot about this thread!!!! I'm SO SorrY!!!

Savith took the tea from Llune with a silent nod as he settled himself to the ground, crossing his legs to sit, and listen to the conversation. There was a faint lifting of his chin at his mother's declaration that he was a great hunter, hidden by bringing his tea cup up for another sip. As Llune and Tidalwave move to stand, his eyes follow Llune, frame tensing in preparation to stand and be at her side, but as her hand alighted upon his shoulder and his eyes found her smiling face, the Chosen just grinned softly and gave a nod. Leaning back on a cushion of air, he watched Llune go with Zayn, sipping from his cup.

As Adin's lulling tones washed lightly across the distance between them, Savith turned to look at him, face impassive for a moment. The confession drew a faint frown, the tensing of cheeks and eyes and core at remembered pained, given as pleasurably as only his Lord could give.

He tilted his head lightly as Adin continued speaking, tension smoothing from face if not frame, and he nodded gently.

"I understand," he replied after a long silence, sitting forward to rest his forearms on his knees, cup held between both hands. "And never have I stated I was proud of my Orders, only proud that through them, I have found the way to provide for home and Family. I admit... I have done... terrible things to your tribe, my Brothers and I, so your wariness is to be expected. I am leery of myself, for I can't say if My Lo-.... if She still lives. And right now, I'm at a cross-roads. If She Calls... will I Fly?" He frowns lightly, eyes on Adin, a concerned question tightening his eyes, a stoney-moss green against the vibrant verde of Adin's own. "Or will I Fight against Her in Service of Another Duty? They call me Chief, but I'm..." he paused, swallowing, "...I find it, in this brief meeting, easier almost, to bend knee to you. Move to follow Your Will. It's the tone of your voice."

Here he stopped, turning his face away with a shake of his head. Wavedancers and cat-elves alike... They always seem to know how to claw into this bird and get him talking. A frown grew, his eyes turned toward his tea. "But it's unimportant," he said, pressing on quickly as his voice grew distant. "I understand. Trust shattered is not easy to rebuild. I have done much to repent for. Your wariness is understandable and accepted."

Crosscurrent

PostPosted: Sat Feb 14, 2009 11:18 pm

There had been a noticable shift in Crosscurrent's eyes at the mention of being called Chief, a certain twitch of muscles, but he didn't interrupt. There was even a pause when Savith finished. It lingered as the Glider seemed drawn to his own unpleasant thoughts.

The Wavedancer was still unhappy despite having started this it seemed. It was when the quiet lingered toward uncomfortable that he resumed his lulling toned conversation.

"You obviously need a dunking in water if you have such doubts, Glider. And it is only seeing the crafters here who would think you a Chief," a hint of disbeliving frost, "that I can even think why they call you that." Green eyes looked down as thoughts visibly raced and were weighted before he looked up again. A new look in them.

"Then here is a choice: be their land-Chief as I am the water-Chief. Because no one elf should lead all as your Mad One does. And... you seem to be floundering here. But," a warning tone, "that means giving up on Flying if she calls you. That means They come before You. No more bending knee ... High Ones help me.. not even for me. Doesn't mean don't back down or let things go because I see a lot of need to learn how to be a proper Chief here."

A sigh as a trace of humour re-appeared. "It would be one way to keep an eye on you I suppose. If I don't drown you, and you don't drop me, it might even civilize you a bit.

"Or you can find another among the crafters. Be ready to leave all here save your mother. Tell Llune to be ready to leave us at a moment's word. Then, if She Calls, just fly as fast as you can because I'll hurt you until even a Healer's touch will take a day before you can moving again to take this tribe from where you would find us. If you won't be Chief then don't try tie others into mistaking you'll take care of them.

Savith chuckled, the sound dark at it's own humorless edge against himself. "You and I both, wavedancer," he mumured beneath his brath as Adin thought quickly to himself.

At the change in tone, Savith looked up, head tilting to one side faintly, eyes intent. He frowned ever so slightly at the truth of it all, his own mind reaching back into a place that provides him the strength for this. It highlights the loneliness that all feel from time to time in this broken world, and the frown deepens. The humor eased the ache slightly, helped along by the promise of Pain and Hurts should he Fly.

A smirk, dark and humorless, crept onto Savith's features as he replied, a faint nod of his head. "A fair arrangement, Water-Chief." There was a pause, the loss of all he held dear, never truely given release, battling to come forward as he uses that to work through this. "I managed it once," he adds, voice growing softer with a sigh. "I'll manage again."

Crosscurrent

PostPosted: Sun Feb 15, 2009 3:33 pm

"You still will not be alone with the other two, but this means we'll need to meet more often too." A roll of green eyes up broke the tension. "High Ones have a strange sense of humour. This must be for those pranks we pulled on the Chiefs.. and they better not be picking on me alone because I didn't solo it either." The last part obviously more to himself then the Glider as he absentmindly tugged the long lock of fair hair in Dancer's grasp.

Crosscurrent had lain his 'weapon' bare to better speak to the Glider. That done it was time to let the serious air slide away.

"You do realize this means a lot of talking, Glider. Because if you keep such worries to yourself you'll go as mad as your old Lord. And if your going to talk it out it's better to me then those crafters. Although... the hunters and fighters tend to take things in stride for normal worries. Because we are going to get on each other's nerves and .. this will be your new-kin. We don't leave them adrift.

"We aren't friends. Even if Dancer drags us to her own thoughts, I doubt it. But the two Chiefs have to have a certain trust to make things work. Usually one a crafter, the other a hunter, so that if seperate they each can care for those around them quickly. Among us the two are often close to each other: family, soul-siblings. So if this is to work we need to 'know' each other well enough to predict things."

A mild smirk as he looked at the sleeping elf's face.

"So. I am Crosscurrent, trained to be chief of the hunters and helping train the older younglings. I don't tend the younglings, cook, or watch the wounded. That was my sibling's duty as crafter-Chief. My name means I often go against the tide-pullings others expect. Entering a Glider as a fellow chief ranking among them. And I have been around those with the gift of Healing and Shielding since I was milking; which is why I shall watch Dancer's gift for now. Watching humans is a habit I had incase they touched upon the tribe in anyway. While I don't prank as much as the rest of us I do have moments... unlike Gliders who seem to be so stuffed with worries they can only give small smiles at best.."

Green eyes looking at Savith as he said that. The smirk still there to show a tint of jest to that. He had hardly paused in his many words. Really this needed to be done but he had no wish to prolong it with comments or questions.

Savith nodded, a light smirk forming. "That they do, wavedancer. That they do," he agreeing softly. As Crosscurrent continued, Savith listened, eyes losing some of the tension as the words set his head nodding. As green eyes met, and s mirk given, so too did Savith smirk, a brow quirking as he made his reply.

"I am Savith, trained as one of the Chosen Eight, hunter, provider, and protector of Blue Mountain. I was born to two Master Shapers of the Mountain, but was given to Llune's care. I have been told that I had little to offer my home, given that I have none of my parent's gifts within me, save for flight. When our First Lord, Voll, came an offered a place among the Chosen, I started as the sixth among them. It was during my trials that I was sent from the Mountain. I have Recognized two wolfriders, and sired two daughters. One was a rock shaper, and I worked to take her to the mountain for training. The other... The other, at the time, I saw little potential in, and so led her through unfamiliar territory. She lost her way, I flew off. She.. died... not long after." The muscles in his jaw tense as the remembered bitterness of it all creep into his mind. His tone darkens as he continues. "Later, after my Recognition to another glider, and the birth of my son, I was promoted to the Head of the Chosen, leading the hunters and ensuring there were plenty of eyes and minds to stand in protection of Lord and Home. I stayed in that position, trading with my Brother Kureel for Chosen's Second until the Moon's Sundering. I have little experience with magic, save for Her touch, and I assure you, there is little similarity between Her and our Dancer. As for worries," the smirk returns, a dark, humorless, edge-draw-into-self sort of expression, "With everything I've done, and the hurts I have caused with my own hands, I have little to smile for. Less now, truth be told. Despite my position, I am, a bit of coward. When I reached the rubble of my mountain home. I did not search for remains. I did not look for my lifemate or son's bodies. I did not search for my Lord or Brothers. Even now, knowing that my lifemate can slip her mind and soul from her body to visit other places, find me across vast distances, I refuse to look. I'm afraid of what I might find. I've felt the touch of a Recognized's Death. I know the heart-stopping chill of the breaking of her neck, and the vertigo of claws tearing through flesh." He shivers despite himself, eyes lowering to hte ground at the remembered touch of the death of a piece of himself. "The silence of the wolfsong that I hated filling my mind, and how I despised missing it."

He lifts his gaze to Crosscurrent once more. His brows are pulled together slightly, a furrow formed between them, at the recalled ache, like the opening of an old wound. Moss green eyes are glazed slightly by a fine mist of tears held forcibly in check. "I drank myself stupid the first time. I nearly whistled for my bond-hawk to release me from having caught me in her claws when I fell from her harness at the second. I know, if I search, and find my lifemate's soul at the Palace..." Two crystal tears, from one eyes, slide out, earning a sneer from the glider. His tone lowers in voice, dripping with dark self-malice, "...little could keep me from finding the fastest way of joining her." He trembles from the emotions of it all, broiling within and held down tight against all that they struggle for release. "No, I don't have much to smile for, but I will seek to keep my heartaches from those." his eyes slide toward the sleeping healer, "too soft to cope with such things."

Dancer lay sleeping still. Her mind drifting in and out of the voices about her no matter how calm and quiet they tried to be. The tones picked up as well as the who it was. The sounds affecting what she saw in her dreams. Before long she was smiling wide as she rested. Images of fish leaping into the air and birds dipping into the water. Switching places back and forth as Fire Bright ran across the top of the endless water with Dancer on his back. Soon many animals joined her as the tiger ran. Wolves were first to come beside her across the water, followed by the no humps Creek had shown her. Soon came other animals she knew all birds, beasts and fishes were bounding over water into a bright sunlight. As she gripped harder to the running cats fur the tug came from Crosscurrent for his hair back. It only made her grip harder.
