(an ONI officer was on one of our ships that was atacked, He escaped in a pod and sent an order to the marines while you were gone I think its on page 6)

(I explained after the battle, the pod bays were destroyed during the fight with one exception, my ship, but that was only because of luck. And they were among the first things targeted by the Covenant Fleet that was stationed here shortly before we came along. So, no one had time to drop, and Pelicans take time to warm up. So, we are the first humans to set foot on this Halo. Well, in the last 100,000 years, that is.)

Harker and the marines pulled up to a downed escape pod.
"Sergeant it is about time you got here. what took you so long?" Harker looked over the tall man in the black uniform.
"sorry sir new problems had presented them self. one you did not take in to acount. get in there is a small LZ where we can set you up an HQ."
the ONI officer jumped in and harker drove off to the the LZ that the Marines form 'Hells Kitchen' made.
(you even side that one other ship made it IC so now it has been established)
