Oh really, I think I like Start Something more than Fake Sound of Progress...but still, both cds are good to me.
If anyone wants to snag music from me, feel free to on aim. Just "get file" from estrangedpenguin. I'm online a lot. Here's a list of what I have (and i mean everything except concert band stuff...even artists with only one song). It's in the order it is on my computer. I have about 2200 songs...

Switching from the rap scene back to rock, The Mars Volta has taken my interest again. Listened to 'em once before and loved 'em, but never knew that each album was a story. So now I've become deeply involved with trying to figure out each story.
Along with The Mars Volta I've been listening to a lot of Spanish rock, bands such as, Los Enanitos Verdes and Elefantes. Along with skacore of all languages, Less Than Jake and Mighty Mighty Bosstones taking the English spot, Voodoo Glow Skulls taking the Spanish, and Potshot with the Japanese.
Same with Shouj', for music I'm on AIM via "Get File." Screenname is First Talis:

Reviving?
Ok, so I've recently discovered Patrick Wolf. If you know Murder By Death, he kinda sounds a lot like that, except more British and a little weirder. Songs like Tristan and The Childcatcher are pretty amazing. His album Wind In The Wires is phenomenal (which Tristan is on).
Other random recs of the moment: Dismemberment Plan Rainer Maria (saw them in concert.. so good crying )
Also, add me on last.fm. Clicks the chart in the sig. Also, if anyone wants random indie pop, just tell me. I have a lot of it ^^;.

I love finding new artists. heart
So, after Warped, I checked out Armor for Sleep (who are way awesome live) and... heart Yup. They're more like an emo/rock, I guess. They kinda remind me of Self Against City.
I also started listening to So They Say, which was on a sampler CD from Fearless Records. I guess rock with some screamo would be my description of it. I downloaded more of their music and I have liked it all so far.
I didn't realize Lostprophets released a new CD last month. I just got finished with downloading their new CD and I was quite impressed. Their sound has evolved and isn't as "whiny" as their old stuff. I would say they have a more mature sound now. They remind me of a mix between Hoobastank and Taking Back Sunday. I would say they sound more like Hoobastank now (so more rock) but they still have their own sound in there where you can still tell it's them.

I've been listening to a lot of Figurine and Beat Crusaders, lately.
Figurine is a band made up of two vocalists, and Jimmy Tamobwtfever who's alter ego is Dntel. Jimmy is also in The Postal Service. But anyway, Figurine is Jimmy's first foray into music, and it's really good. If you've listened to Dntel or The Postal Service, you know what to expect, but both of the vocalists have very unique sounding voices and lyrics that cover a wide range of topics.
And... Beat Crusaders, they are just endlessly awesome. They did the opening for BECK, and the most recent Bleach opening. But they're a great band, that blend lots of elements from ska, punk, and pop (to name a few) to make some very unique sounding music.

So, I've been getting into some new stuff. Two I feel are worth mentioning. Dropping Daylight :: [5/5] Genre : Alternative Rock/Heavier Piano Rock Hoooooooly ******** they are good. I mean damn good. They're first song on their CD, Tell Me, is probably a summary of every single thing I love in music; the vocals, lyrics, style, drive, beat...everything. I would describe them as being a piano rock group...but mixed with amazing. More so, I would say they're alternative rock for sure. Waking Ashland and Something Corporate both come to mind when "piano rock" is mentioned, but both those groups are on the softer side of rock. Dropping Daylight just busts it out. Even with their ballad, Answering Our Prayers, has a level of drive and doesn't leave you asleep and bored like I find with many rock ballads. Like amazing vocals, dynamic instrumentals, and an invigerating drive? I would totally suggest them. Quietdrive :: [3.9/5] Genre : Alternative Rock/Post-Hardcore After listening to their cover of Cindy Lauper's Time After Time in the movie John Tucker Must Die the other day, I decided to check them out a bit more. I was actually pretty impressed with their 10-song CD. Nothing very original but if you like general post-hardcore punk rock, I would totally suggest them. They sound a lot like bands such as Acceptance and Armor For Sleep. I think the only reason why I wouldn't grade them higher than I did is the fact that they are not very original with their sound. Catchy, but nothing I would keep in my CD player for a few days.

Albums I'm looking forward to: hellogoodbye - Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! (out August 8th) I totally adore this band. They're silly and fun. What I've heard so far has been beyond my expectations. I just think they're silly as hell and are hella awesome. From what I've heard so far, I'd say it'll be worth a purchase. Ima Robot - Monument For The Masses (out September 12th) I listened to their debut album for, like, a week straight I loved it that much. Creeps Me Out, the first song I've heard from the album, is fantastic. There is a download available from this site if you'd like a listen. Totally going to get it the second it comes out. I highly recommend the first CD to all of you, as well. Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position (out.. later this year/early next?) I haven't heard anything from it yet.. but it's Patrick ******** Wolf. Hot. He's an amazing performer, makes gorgeous music. Wind In The Wires is a fantastic album. Must.. get.. If you guys want any samples from these artists, I've finally got my music working again on my other computer smile After one reformat of this hard drive, all this music will be on this machine and a lot more accessible, so I can get it to you sometime next week. Other recommended things that I will give you some of if you ask me nice: The National I Am Kloot Victory At Sea Rainer Maria Jump, Little Children (in case I haven't offered yet)

I've been listening to a lot of Twilight Singers and The Afghan Whigs. Both bands are fronted by Greg Dulli, and both are very awesome. I'm most impressed with the new Twilight Singers album; Powder Burns.
