Kanis nods, "I am ready ma'am" she took her sister's hand and smiled, "Yes I will be alright don't worry I am sorry I scared you...I will try not to do it again. " She laughed lightly and smiled. She would have to work hard to make this up to herself. She prayed it was not a telling of what things would happen all the times.
Ruran sighed and in his boredom his eyes started to shut.

"It's okay," Aras smiled warmly at her sister, tugging her to her feet. "We'll climb together, okay? Climb with me."
And without letting go of Kanis's hand, she started up the mountainside once more.
Armus grinned and sprung lightly to her feet. "Excellent!" she beamed. "Gosh I wish I'd had a sister or something when I was little. You two are just the sweetest little things ever!"
Corrah made no indication of his thoughts, but he was pleased. The more Ruran hung there, the more achy he would be when he woke up, and the more numb his limbs would be. Eventually, even his toes, then his feet, and his legs would go numb, simply from the act of being suspended.
On the other hand, he couldn't help but be a little impressed. He had thought for sure that the boy would have surrendered long ago - or perhaps he has simply underestimated the boy's pride.

Kanis nods and with her sister's help she started to climb again though this time just breathing normally she would practice calm breathing when they got where they were going to be staying.
She smiled and looked up at Armus, "Then you can be our big sister its not the same if you had one when you were little but still you can be a big sister and help us like you do!"
Ruran felt himself drifting in and out of a snooze. He was so bored and he was not much for words or asking about things to this stranger. That would be too weak of him. But he did sleep a bit shifting every now and then trying to get comfortable.
He really wanted down but he was not going to let a girl beat him he was going to show that he could do some things....even if it was not for four days...he would last one day!

Armus's blue eyes lit up brightly with excitement. "Really?" she gushed. "That's so sweet of you!"
Aras giggled. "Yeah!" she agreed with Kanis. "You can be our big sister! Because sisters help sisters, and you're helping us!"
Armus laughed and picked up both of the girls, hugging them tightly. "I feel so special!" she grinned. "Thank you!"
The sun was high in the sky now, and beating down on Corrah and Ruran in the clearing, and though Corrah's black robes absorbed the heat he paid it no mind. He had been through worse - much worse - heat.
He continued to hold Ruran high, almost as if he had become a statue.

Kanis hugged Armus and giggled, "Yes a but sister! You can help us learn bout stuff and keep us out of trouble." she smiled and mad a face, "And I guess punish us when we are bad." She giggled again and nods, "Yes both Aras and I agree your our big sister Armus!"
Ruran woke up becuase of the heat and sighed. "I take it you wont move to the shade....its hot..." he sighed and shifting so he could grab his yellow sash and shifted it over his head.

Corrah barely reacted. "Why would I move?" he asked. "I'm quite comfortable here."
He wouldn't move no matter what happened. Whether it rained or even stormed, he would not move. None of it bothered him. He had lived in such conditions for his whole life.
Armus grinned and set the girls down again. "Excellent!" she beamed. "Then we're going to have a lot of fun! Let's get going again!" And she pointed them up the mountainside once more.
Aras giggled and ran forward, tugging Kanis along behind her. She was starting to get excited about all of this!

Ruran shrugged happier now that he had his sash covering him. His eyes shut again and he relaxed. "I am comfortable now too." he said stubbornly. He knew he could not last much longer but he would not give in until morning.
Kanis nods after she was put back down and she still holding her sister's hand started to run as well. This was going to be great and her sister's excitement was spreading to her and helping her forget her embarrassment.

Corrah set his jaw. "I'm sure you are," he said agreeably, though his eyes were mocking the boy.
He knew Ruran was not comfortable. No one in that position would ever be. Not even him. Still, he would let the boy believe what he wanted, and see how long it took him to give in.~~~~~ Time passed, and Armus continued to lead the girls up the mountainside, but after a few hours their progress was so slow that it was nearly halted. Aras was panting for breath, having to rest every few steps due to both the thinning air and the long hike. The afternoon was gone by this time, and Armus knew that they would not make it to the camp by dark.
"Why don't we take a break," she suggested, stopping and sitting on a fallen log. "Here."
She took a flask from her hip and held it out to the girls. "Have some water. Regain your strength."

Kanis stopped as well eager for each break. She could not believe that one day they would make this walk with no trouble what so ever. She thanked Armus for the water, took a small sip and slide it over to Aras.
"How much farther do we have to go? I don't think we will make it by night fall...maybe by dawn but then we have to head right back because we have to meet mom and dad..."

Aras took the water gratefully and took a few sips, swooshing it around in her mouth a bit so that her mouth would get good and moist again, and then swallowed and took a few more little sips.
Armus smiled down at Kanis. "Well to be honest ... I had forgotten how small Surprises really are," she murmured apologetically, "so I don't even know if we're going to make it tonight ... I think we should just stop here, and I can teach you some of the basics of making a shelter ..."
Corrah meanwhile was still holding out without any difficulty. The sun was lowering already, but it was on the other side of the mountain, and he and Ruran were in the shadow of the peak. It was growing cool - but still he did not move.

Kanis nods, "Okay...that sounds fun...and we would have to learn sooner or later." She giggled and looked to her sister, "Are you ready Aras?" She smiled brightly though she was so tired this was so much fun! And she loved that she was getting to do it with her sister.
Ruran shivered a bit moving his sash to fall back around his waist. Man he hated the cold...but he was not going to give in even he if was freezing and his little body started to shake more and more as the sun went down.

Aras grinned and nodded, handing the flask back to Armus.
"What do we have to do first?" she asked eagerly. "Make a fire? Build a bed?"
Armus returned the flask to her belt and smiled, rising to her feet. "First is the fire," she replied. "It gives you both light and warmth to work with, so that if it's cold outside you don't cool down too quickly and you can work more efficiently. Now, what kind of wood should you use?"
She looked from one sister to the other, smiling encouragingly.
Corrah could feel Ruran's shiver, but he paid it no mind. The boy was going to freeze in all likelihood - but Corrah was not going to give in. The boy needed to be taught a lesson, and Corrah would make sure he learned it, and learned it good.
Suddenly, not too far away, a wolf howled, and a moment later it was joined by a chorus of other wolves.

Kanis put her hand to her mouth and bit a finger lightly in thought, "Well lets see....dry wood....um....something that would last a wail. But you need small things to start it right? Like twigs and leaves?" She was trying to remember how her mother and father made fires.
She heard the wolf cries soft and far off, but close enough that she looked around, "Wolf pack?"
Ruran's eye shot open and he turned his head so his ears would hear the sounds more. His eyes depened slightly as he listened to the mornfull yet beautiful cries...it almost sounded as if a voice was missing from the wolves pack.

Aras nodded, agreeing with her sister. "If you use wet wood," she added, "it makes lots of smoke and it smells really bad and it makes you smell bad too ... and it makes you choke."
She flinched and looked around worriedly when she heard the wolves, but Armus smiled and patted her on the head.
"Don't worry about them," she said softly. "They don't usually come this high up on the mountain, they usually stay lower."
Where Corrah and Ruran were, she just about added - but she didn't want to worry them.
Corrah didn't move or blink but he felt a smug satisfaction at Ruran's reaction to the wolves. He also didn't tell him that they were in the wolves' territory - though he would probably find out for himself soon enough.

Kanis nods and looks down the hill, "Will Corrah and Ruran be okay?" She asked softly, "They are down lower...." She knew they would but it never hurt to ask.
She sat there waiting to see if their fire answer was right, and her young mind started to work, "Sister Armus...do you think you could tell us how you and Corrah met after we build he fire and beds? And maybe tell us a bit about how we will be trained?"
Ruran felt his eyes well with a bit of tears, "They are missing a cry arn't they?" He asked. He never knew why wolves hunted in packs...they should do better on their own.
