Only injury I can think of off the top of my head would be a broken finger, when trying to break three boards with a reverse punch. I simply forgot about technique, and broke through the boards with power instead... Which was a big mistake. I couldn't punch properly, in kata for a while due to the finger cast, and definately didn't try to break any more boards after that. Only good thing that came outta that was the fact that I did break the boards... Well... Completely broke the first two, and cracked the third board.

I have never had any of thing like that, I`ve only been training for about maybe 5 and a 1/2 months.

That's right. I'm dead. Nya ha ha HA ha. Actually I did something and have a nasty pain in the chest area. It's skeletal/muscular though. I have enjoyed freaking everyone out by complaining of chest pains. That, and my Fred Sanford impersonation. whee

One of my students got hurt line sparring tonight. One of the white belts got a bit overzealous i think and got carried away. This led to a knee injury. Had a talk with the guy. He's a strong man, and I think maybe a little too competative. Hopefully he'll curb it. Hopefully Rick's leg will be alright. Glad my cousin was there, sports med background. The knee should be fine.

GAH! scream Some n00b yellow sash did that to my knee once. Decided to ignore the instructors while they explained (like always) that sparring classes focus on point-sparring, not street-fighting, hence all legitimate targets are on torso, with mild allowances for light head contact. Little b*****d pegged me right in the side of the knee from the word "go". Good thing I went with it. Took sodding *months* to heal, and that was with every teacher in the school yelling at me not to forget and overdo it. All's fair, though. Later in that same match-up the jerk gave me his back and I pegged him harder than necessary in the butt. ninja As far as I know, he quit after a few lectures about excessive force.

Oh yeah, Marty, you *do* hydrate enough, right? And you're not low on magnesium, right? Those are two things I know of that encourage nasty cramping of muscles.

Beer and soda are good for hydration right?

Yeah, I drink a lot of juice at home and take suppliments. With all the abuse I put my body though, I need all the advantages I can get.

blaugh Glad to hear it! You'd be *amazed* the number of patients I see who could probably have avoided paying me at all if they'd sat down and figured out they only drink coffee and jolt cola all day, and maybe they should try changing that (I've actually treated three such people so far, so no I'm not exaggerating about what people drink, not even counting alcohol). But no, I'm the Great Woo-Woo Lady with Magic Chi Needles who will tell them to sodding start drinking water, and when they listen (eventually), the pain miraculously fades and their mutiple specialists declare a miracle remission of symptoms, but suggest surgery anyway because why not. rolleyes I often feel like I'm simply being paid to dispense common sense.

...Yeah, I frequently come across as nagging, sorry! sweatdrop

"Great Magic Woo Woo Lady". That's my new favorite super hero.

Yeah, working on roofs for ten years, you learn a bit about proper hydration. I'm slack about it in the winter time when I don't sweat much. Summer time brings out a lot of water, juice and fruits.

Woo-hoo! I'm a superhero! biggrin
Yeah, I learned about hydrating due to chronic headaches/migraines (usually just headaches that could eat Manhattan) and a heart problem, both of which practically disappeared once I started drinking 60+ oz of water daily. *Later*, in my Western Medicine class, the teacher talked about his emergency room experience and how probably 90% of the heart problems he sees in his line of work are due to chronic dehydration. I wish my cardiologist had mentioned that... stare

Ah, tis the season. Multiple arm contusions and a broken pinky toe. Been a while. whee

And no they weren't caused by dehydration.
