Unfortunately, Sukotto had remained somewhat isolated from the rest of the population in Shimagakure. He had met a few of the academy students, but it wasn't for nearly long enough to know anything about their abilities or potential. He couldn't and wouldn't pick just any kid that happened to have what it took to become a shinobi. A crucial factor was that they would need to be intelligent and think for themselves. Their maturity level would also need to surpass their age group. For if one of them were to tell the teacher's about the proposal that Sukotto planned to offer them, they would surely become suspicious and keep a closer eye on the Uchiha. He figured that he had built up enough respect to deny at least one accusation against him by a younger student, which is why he chose that rank in the first place. However, Sukotto still worried a little about whether they would be up to the task in terms of their skill. He ran a bit harder to force the uncertainty from his mind.

In any case, the Uchiha would have to do some observation and determine which academy students would have the physical qualities that would allow them to be ready for a real mission. He would also need to make sure that their personalities would compliment each other in some way and not interfere with the possibility of them accepting his request. The number of students that he desired to have on his team would be at least two and he preferred to have no more than that. After all, he hadn't ever led an organized four-member squad on his own and mathematically speaking, three people would be twenty-five percent easier to handle. Sukotto began to laugh at his own calculations, knowing that two academy students would be much harder to train and manage under the leadership of a genin than three genin would be under the leadership of a jounin. He nearly caused himself to trip once again. The shinobi was thankful for all of the running he had been doing lately, since laughing would have originally caused him to cramp up as he worked out.

During his long thought process about his future plans for himself and two younglings that he would take under his wing, Sukotto failed to notice just how much his running had improved. He realized right after he stumbled and then got back up to speed in a matter of moments. No longer did he feel weak after having to force himself to accelerate at a higher pace. The Uchiha knew that he wasn't ready for an advanced taijutsu style at that time, but he could tell that he was definitely getting close and it wouldn't take too much longer before his body would have what it took. His excitement grew a little, as did his eagerness to finish the training and head straight to the library in order to research the different styles of hand-to-hand combat so he had an idea of what other sorts of training he would have to finish before adopting a new form.

The new taijutsu style would be vital not only to Sukotto's state of mind, but also in making him more adept in a battle. He decided to select something that didn't utilize the Sharingan whatsoever. The Uchiha planned to get two results from this. First, he wouldn't be completely useless when he ran out of chakra to use. Second and just as important, it was obvious to him that anything that drew power from the Sharingan was also weakened by it whenever it didn't happen to be activated. This way, he wouldn't have to rely on his self-damaging kekkai genkai to get himself out of a tough situation. Additionally, he would need to be able to help the academy students that followed him and he absolutely didn't want to rely on the Phoenix Flower to do the job, for he would only have enough chakra for one or two uses.

Kana came strolling up to the shoreline, with his fingers tightly wrapped around the strap of his backpack. The young auburn haired boy peered up and down the coastline of Shimagakure, his view distorted only by docks and and few boats. The genin soon saw who he was looking for, Aya. He cheerfully walked up to her and placed his bag next to Aya's and propped it up against the crates. "Well I'm all ready." Kana said in a hushed tone as he looked back into the heart of Shimagakure. It seemed as though he was forgetting something important, Kazuma! Where could he be? Hopefully the boy would have enough sense to come down to the shoreline and happen to spot Aya and Kana. He bent down and sat against the crates next to the bags, he took in what he thought might be the last time he would ever see Shimagakure. Past memories filled his head, most of them of Ichi. The man that the two teenagers were embarking on such a treacherous a journey to find. "I... I sure am going to miss this place..." Kana said in a choking voice as the young man forced back tears. He could only think of what lied ahead of them, what would become of the trio. Would they be considered rouge ninja and exiled from acceptance of the Shinobi realm, or did a far worse fate draw nearer with every step they took closer to Ichi. He swallowed slowly and closed his eyes, soon they would be gone from this place of memories. No used did Shimagakure house for them any longer until they would successfully arise with the peoples leader.

As expected by one who knew Kazuma he had not gone home and packed but instead decided his last moments in the village were better spent getting up to mischief and it was quite clear this had happened when he came running down the dock holding what looked like a bottle of Alcohol above his head. Ever since Tomoko had made him steal the "juice" from the bar and then as punishment he was forced to drink it till he was a staggering mess he had continued to steal juice every now and then. Left to his own devices the kid would probably develop a drinking problem soon enough, not that he needed one, he was clumsy enough without alcohol as his next amazing feat proved. As he flew down the docks his foot either caught something or he just plain slipped regardless he was flat on his face at the feet of his brother in seconds with the bottle rolling out of his hand and past his brother.

However, if he needed some extra power to finish off an opponent, the technique that he discovered through his visions would provide it through a burst of chakra. Additionally, the technique would likely be a very flashy looking one, making more experienced shinobi mistake it for a show of ineffective stunts. In fact, the jutsu would significantly increase Sukotto's skill with taijutsu. It would allow him to keep up in hand-to-hand combat with those that focused their training around it and he wouldn't have to do the same. In all likeliness, by working on strengthening his chakra, Sukotto would indirectly be amplifying his taijutsu skill. He began to feel his heart pound with excitement yet again and so he decided to take a break from his running to head to the library to research various taijutsu styles.

"Yay!" Aya cheered, forgetting to keep her voice down since she was excited to get their own mission on the road and moving along. "We just need to find a boat," Aya whispered, looking around to find one that was very inconspicuous. Every mission the little Tenmoki girl had been on had involved a boat, so she was starting to become pretty handy with them. Especially when she hung out with Tomoko last year, she learned quite a bit about sailing. Her past experiences would hopefully land them in the right spot... Hopefully. The little light-blue haired girl stopped her peering when Kana spoke once again about missing Shimagakure. Aya felt a small twinge in her heart and put her small hand on Kana's shoulder. "We're doing this for Shimagakure. This isn't home without Ichi-sensei," Aya soothingly told Kana, trying to keep his spirits high in case he changed his mind about leaving.

The moment was interrupted by none other than Kazuma, who had fallen face first on the docks. A bottle he had been carrying went rolling past her and Kana. Ignoring the bottle for now and running over to Kazuma, Aya knelt down slightly and put out her hand. "Are you alright?" she asked him, slightly concerned and forgetting that Kazuma may still have a slight grudge against her.

The port near Shimagakure was finally in view upon the horizon. Having taken a leave of absence from the village just after the Orochi War had begun, Captain Sumitu Jonu was finally returning to the closest place to home that he had ever had. He had set out with a former comrade of his to repay a debt to the woman. She was so pleased with his swift performance that she allowed him to take a single ship and crew from the fleet. Being the kind man that he was, Jonu took the worst she had to offer, an older ship with square sails that he detested. When she insisted on him taking something of better quality, he simply refused and reminded her of his passion for building vessels. The one that he took from her would only be temporary and utilized to gather parts to build his dream ship. The crew were all trusted men and women and had already been paid to sail under Jonu's leadership for as long as he would need them before finding his own.

As he docked the worn down ship, which was ironically called a junk, the man noticed a few of the younger shinobi gathered about the place. He instructed the crew to latch the vessel in place and take a break afterward before calling out to the children.
"Ahoy kiddies! How arrre ye all today?"

Kana agreed, they would need a sturdy boat to get from here to the Orochi village. "Mhm." He mumbled and lifted his head to help in the search for a boat. The squad would need something inconspicuous so that no one would be able to identify them. The young man listed to Aya as she explained that they were doing this for Ichi so there wasn't anything to to be sad about. He smiled a bit and looked over to her as she put her hand on his shoulder. Kana cleared his throat and looked ahead to see is brother coming down the docks with a bottle of what looked like water above his head. He chuckled as Kazuma slipped and the bottle rolled past the couple. The genin wasn't as concerned about Kazuma as Aya was because he knew that it would take a lot more than a little slip to take out his brother. His focus was mainly on the bottle, he eyed it for a moment and soon got up to pick the bottle up. Uncorking the bottle he took a small whiff and gave a descusted face, he had only smelled such a strong scent once before. That was when he and Hiro went down to the lagoon and had met up with Aya's mother. Kana looked up as a fairly large boat docked next to them and saw a familiar face, it was Jonu and it seemed as though he was the one giving the orders on the boat. "Hello there! We're all pretty good. We're just looking for some transport oversea for a special mission." Kana said deceivingly, although he was certain the man would call his bluff. Maybe all he had to do was buy the man off? The red haired boy looked down at the bottle in his hand and got a small grin upon his face. Then he tossed the bottle towards Jonu and quirked his brow a bit, hoping that this was all that was required to coax the man into adventure. His eye's wandered over the ship and by the looks of it the vessel wouldn't even be able to go up a small river let alone the ocean.

"HEEEEEEAAAAAAAAWWWW!!!" The sound shattered the silence of the early morning. The waves were almost nonexistant, there was no wind to speak of, nothing more than the air that pushed through the lungs of the young man approaching the shore. His vessel, to use the word loosely, was still a dot on the horizon, especially since he was coming fromt he direction of the still-rising sun. What person could be so alive at such an early hour would soon be known to the whole village, but for now he was still a small distance away.

"Is that the island? Across the sea, I see. Will there be blades or a feast to await me?" The man sang loudly through the air. The boat he stood in was no bigger than he was, but he stood proudly in it nontheless, without any fear of it tipping over. There was little chance of that in such calm waters, but should a single wave rock it just a little...

Kenichi was growing irritated by the slow approach. He thought about leaping into the shallows and swimming until he felt the sand come up beneath him, but he could see the snow lightly graced across the beach. he didn't show any signs of the cold before, the the mere thought of how cold the water would be made him shiver. The change in movement was the enough to shake the boat, and the man quickly dropped down in fear of being thrown over by his own foolish actions. After calming a bit, he rolled over on his back and awaited his arrival.

[Still Winter 2 Night]

Aya's head turned with the others as she heard Mister Jonu's voice. It had been a long time since she saw the likes of him, so it was amazing that she recognized his voice. "Ahoy!" Aya chirped, her attention centering on the Jounin standing nearby. Before she knew it, Kana was already working his way into Jonu's good graces for a ride to the mainland. A small smile crept on Aya's lips.

[Twilight Time]

While chatting with Jonu for some time and helping his new crew tidy up and anchor in his new, yet old, ship the sea man agreed to help bring Kana, Aya and Kazuma to the mainland. Jonu had felt indebted to the little Tenmoki girl since she had aided in rescuing him from the sea while on a mission last summer. With everything set in place, the small band of shinobi from Shimagakure set off on their un-official mission to the mainland.

[Exit to Jonu's Old Ship in Mainland Subforum and Winter 3.]

[Begin Mission.]

Mission: Kana, Aya, Kazu, Jonu - Retrieve Ichi
Rank: B
Locations: Tonato, Shiyue, Valley of the End
Description: The Kage has been turned to stone and there are no planned efforts to retrieve him. Many have accepted the Kage's fate as a grim one. Aya and Kana refuse to accept that Ichi is dead. The two genin round up a squad and head to the Mainland to return to the Rice Country in order to find their Kage. They will have to do so on their own with the aid of Kazuma and Jonu. Their greatest difficulty will be keeping a low-profile as they make their way to the Orochi Village. They will all train and encounter small side missions on the way, making the journey well worth their time.

It didn't take long for his boat to hit shore. The vibrant Aburame had just temporarily drifted off into the back of his mind, but once solid ground had steadied the small vessel, Kenichi rolled his weight to the top of his body and pushed off, making a flip over the edge and landing on the snowy sand with one foot behind the other.

"Dismount! Perfect 6.0! ..." Ken seemed proud of himself for the moment, but a quick glance around gave him the impression that the area was somewhat abandoned. The thought that no one would come to a beach in the winter didn't occur to him, he was more upset that no one was around to witness his grand entrance. He'd have to change that... everything was about first impressions, it was just as he taught that strange boy he tutored in the fire country. Oh, what was his name... something about a 'dream'... well, it didn't matter now.

"Very well. If no one's around..." Kenichi said in a restrained voice. Taking a few steps forward, he let his voice boom, "I'LL GATHER A CROWD ON MY OWN!" He shouted as if it would draw attention to himself, but he doubted that anyone would arrive. Still, the village should have some sort of defenses, how could he just walk onto the island without any opposition... he'd have to educate them on his mistake.

Izumi could feel the crisp air as it tickled her nose and chilled her ears. Winter wasn't exactly the most suitable season for someone as ill dressed as she just happened to be. The poor girl also wasn't able to bring any other clothes other than what little she had on at the moment. Scarcely covering her feminine secrets, the blue mini skirt left little to the mind, as well as the tightly wrapped maroon colored strip of cloth she wore as a shirt, seemed to do little for her shivering body as the boat neared the shore. She smiled as she kept her seat, looking up towards the sky to watch the small white flakes fall. The black haired child curled herself tighter into a ball as her head fell to snuggle between her shoulders. It was the only defense she had against the cold. The breeze that seemed to flow around this place didn't seem to be helping at all, either. As soon as she felt the hand-carved boat hit land, she shook a little. She unfroze herself from her feeble position and stepped out of the boat into the cold waters and felt herself shiver from the temperature difference. As the frail looking girl pulled and heaved the boat onto shore so it wouldn't float away, she took a moment to look around at the surrounding area.

It was different from what she was used to, but the snow that lightly covered the terrain's floor would keep her guessing as to the true look of this place until the sun let out a true smile to let the ice turn to water to bring spring to this land of mysteries. The fourteen year old girl looked back out into the sea, towards the direction her home of Haha Island would be. She smiled once again as she remembered her parents, and of course, her brother, setting her off into the large mass of water to no longer live with them. She loved her parents, and her brother, with everything she had. She loved the people of her village too. Though it wasn't what her people wanted. Love was useless to them, and she had too much of it. She turned on her shoeless heel and walked a bit further down the beach before quickly becoming tired of the sight. Her curiousity wanted to drive her further into this strange village to take a look around. Izumi's only problem was that she had no idea where it was she was supposed to go in the first place!

Though that little fact didn't stop the charming girl from skipping along the beach with a pleasent smile on her face. She soon came to the end of the beach and spotted another person, but he seemed to be a little busy talking to himself for her to interfere. Izumi merely turned and went to head back to her boat. The excersize of walking was doing her a bit of good and made the blood start to heat up her body. She'd been sitting in that boat for so long, she wouldn't have been surprised if she had frozen solid in the position she had been earlier. The tiny Meho child situated herself back into the boat and merely sat there for a few minutes. She was slightly weary about this new land and was a bit afraid to go any further inside. Should she have just shoved back off into the sea and looked around to find another, more friendly looking place to begin living? Or should she stick her neck out and try to make a friend or two here? Such large questions for such a small girl to think of. It took only a moment or two for the Meho to make a deal with herself. She would go and look around the island for someone to ask a question or two about where she was and where it was situated compaired to the other islands around it. If it seemed a nice welcoming place, then she would have a mind to stay, if not, then she'd be on her way. It seemed logical. Especially for a mere forteen year old child to think of on her own without any sort of older advice on what to do in such a situation as this.

"Ello there!" a heavy, sweet voice called. Kairo's purple eyes smiled silently at the girl, dressed improperly for the weather. This was a new academy student; he knew because he led them all to the academy and their dorms. This was a new one to the island...obviously because of how she was dressed. Kairo chuckled and tied back his long black hair, waving the girl over and motioning towards a clump of buildings within the village. "There are rooms at the student dorms; most are open so you just have to look for one, or find a roommate. Go there first and get settled; afterwards, if you follow the central road and go past a bamboo hut, you should see the academy. Go there second, and report to whoever is teaching today. And of course, my name is Kairo - Kai-Row. Welcome, my dear...to Shimagakure." This whole speech was done in a lilting tone of voice, Kairo's words sounding like a melody instead of a boring order. Kairo's height, too, could have been intimidating; instead, it was friendly, open, and made him approachable.

Izumi has been given directions and a room key to the student dorms. She has received directions from the dorm to the academy - after her day, she will have to interact with the students to learn more about the village.
