Kolo was still thinking of his first idea, about making the link between Shadows and humans work backwards, in fact, he was so intent on that thought, that he was having some trouble coming up with anything new. He wished he knew why he was thinking of shaodws. What importance did they have with ninja warfare anyhow? However, despite these thoughts, he pressed on, trying to please his cousin, and brainstormthings about shaodws.

Kolo was thinking about shadows, How could they make the link go backwards? kolo had already thought of that link, and knew that he couldn't keep using that, they still had to control the link. Using shadows was abvious, but how were they going to use shadows to take over the link? Shadows weren't always long enought o reach the opponent. At noon, shadows were almost unexistant. It would be hard to take control of those shadow links. If they could extend their shadow.... But how? "Hey Shin, is it possible to extend shadows? Using chakra?" Kolo wasn't all too sure if this would be possible, but it seemed like the best possible solution for controlling a person through their shadow.

Kolo disregarded his question with a wave of his hand. Kolo had already moved onto another idea. "Yes, yes, of course it would be possible... Chakra can do that stuff, I know it. But it might take a lot of chakra, might waste it into the ground under the shadow.... I know we could do it. Maybe... Maybe..." Kolo was getting excited! He was making some real breathroughs. Kolo looked to Shin, he was still cooking Ramen, Kolo was doing all the thinking, oddly though, he was okay with that. Kolo liked being the brain of operations, made him feel important.

Kolo knew he was on to something. He didn't know what though. The boy's mind was racing, he was having some impossibly good ideas. He didn't know if everything he was saying would work, but it was certainly worth his effort. "Chakra can't create or destroy anything, can it? It is like energy, and matter... So you cannot create a shadow, it has to already be there. Shadows can grow depending on the shadows in the area. If we can get out shadows to meet another shadow, we should be able to extend it farther, using shadows to make our shadow grow.

Kolo felt that his idea still had hole in it. How were they going to actually use this in ninja warfare? The idea was good, but it still wouldn't have been any use if they couldn't somehow establish control. Kolo couldn't think of how they would be able to use it in a fight. Kolo was thinking of his past accomplishments and thought that they would help him to come up with the final piece to his puzzle. Kolo was good at puzzles, it made him feel even smarter. Dwelling on his past accomplishments will not lead to future success, Kolo had to learn that still.

Kolo's high slowly wearing off. He wasn't thinking like he was before. His fatigue was finally getting to him. and his hunger. Kolo didn't want to let his cousin down, but he still wanted to rest for a few hours. Maybe after he was finished with this branstorm session, he would be able to sleep. That would be his motivation to continue. Rest. He was going to stay up until he filled the hole in his plan. A plan that up until now had been nearly flawless. This last hole was going to be difficult to fill.

Kolo was a little surprised byt the smell of the Ramen. That was when it hit him. Surprise. The element of surprise was going to help them obtain control over the opponents shadow. The link between Person and Shadow could work backwards, The shadow could be extended with chakra, and shadows cannot be created, you would have to use neighboring shadows to help extend your shadow, and surprise would create the upperhand in ninja warfare. "Hey Shin, I think I just thought of a new jutsu... But I can't use it... I am not strong enough."

Breaking apart a pair of chopsticks, Shin began to stir the noodles around and aid the brick of starch by prodding at it, so the noodles would separate. The first thing his cousin said back to him was utter... genius! "That's a great idea!" Shinobu said with an awe struck look on his face. Just as the noodles began to boil over, Shin quickly turned down the heat and lifted the pan off the stove while Kolo was saying how he just didn't understand how shadows could be used. Shin had the perfect answer! "I read in a book in the library about the former Kage, Uchiha Ichi. He was known as the Dark Flame, using fire techniques with genjutsu. In his genjutsu he wrapped his opponent in a world of utter darkness. Imagine being able to block out an enemy's sight with their own shadow," Shin explained as he grabbed some seasoning from his cupboards and began adding it into the noodles. Shin really didn't want to get into that topic though, he really wanted to focus on the idea that Kolo had just mentioned. Shin really wished that he had thought of it himself, but Kolo's imagination was far more adapt than his! As Kolo went to ask his second question, Shin turned his chocolate eyes to the ceiling to think. "Uhm," he hummed to himself much like Hanabira did. "That would be a good question to ask Shinichi-kage..." Shin mumbled to himself, but there was no chance that Shin would ever as Shinichi a question voluntarily. That man scared the bajeebus out of him.

As he finished the ramen that he had been working on while listening to Kolo's brilliant ideas, Shin poured them each a bowl, giving Kolo the bigger half. "Kolo, that's an amazing idea!" Shin said as he sat down next to his cousin and offered him a bowl with some chopsticks. "I can't wait to write Uncle Zanza about this. Maybe he'll be able to send us some letters back giving us ideas on how to actually do it," Shin suggested, bringing up their uncle that had suggested that Shin and then Kolo be enrolled in the Shinobi academy here on Shimagakure. Zanza had been a part of Shimagakure for awhile, helping with missions, but his calling had gone back to the mainland where he did his share of good deeds in protecting caravans and being mayor of a small village that Shin often went through on his caravan trips with his family. "Did you learn any techniques in the Academy today?" Shin asked curiously as he took his first bite of ramen noodles. It was the same taste he had eaten for the last few months; onion and chicken. It was amazing how chefs could create the flavor of chicken through mere powder. As he savored the taste and waited for Kolo to tell him about the academy, he still couldn't get his mind off of his cousin's amazing idea to extend shadows, and manipulate people through them.

Kolo was happy that Shin liked his idea, Kolo was still unconvinced. He wasn't sure if it was possible. The events of the past day was getting to him now, and he was tired. He wanted to finish his conversation with Shin, and finish his meal. He noticed that he had a little more food than Shin. It was a nive gesture, and couldn't help but accept, Shin had already eaten his portion. He began to eat, but with a rather slow tempo, he was struggling to stay awake, and wanted nothing more than to sleep. Sleep was feeling rather good to him. "I learned how to do the Henge no Jutsu," Kolo said, "I'll show you tomorrow, right now I am really tired, If i tried now, it wouldn't be any good." Kolo admitted sadly, he wanted to show Shin what he had learned.

As he slurped up his noddles, without splashing any excuse broth anywhere, Shin smiled as he heard the name of the technique that Kolo had learned. "Really? Wow. I never learned that one!" Shin told his cousin with a smile. "I've learned the Clone technique and then the Rope Escape. I tell ya, the Escape technique is really handy, I suggest you learn that one," Shin said as he remembered getting out of Tanu's grapples a few times thanks to that technique. "Tired?" Shin asked his cousin, notcing that it was pretty late, but he and his cousin used to stay up till day time all the time! Their parents, especially Shin's, were very leniant and never really gave out a 'bedtime' to Shin. The dusty haired boy tried to think back on his first day of the academy and just how tired he had been. Letting out a small grin, Shin figured that he should've treated Kolo to some barbecue after his first day instead of ramen. The Genin would make it his priority to cook a really good breakfast for Kolo tomorrow before he went to the academy. "Yea, you should show me tomorrow and maybe even teach me!" Shin said to his cousin with a smile. Kolo would probably think it weird for a student to teach a genin, but he would learn that shinobi's have their strengths in different areas. Shin has seen Jounin crumble to Hanabira's sweetness!

Kolo chuckled as Shin said he wanted Kolo to teach him. Shin would be the second person he taught to transform. "I actually taught one of my classmates the technique, so I am an expert at teaching it now." Kolo joked lightly, "I will teach you Henge, if you teach me the Escape." He then said, hoping for a fair trade off, his quest for knowledge leading him in his haggling. Kolo ate some ramen, feeling better, he noticed also that he fel a lot better than he had since he fought Seiko. Kolo regretted having pulled the kunai on the boy, but at the time it felt like it was neccessary. Kolo wanted to forget about that fight, didn't want to get in trouble for trying to use it on a fellow villager. He hoped he remembered to leave that part of his day's events out, but wasn't sure if he had let it slip to Shin in his excitement.

"Oh yea? Did you make a lot of friends today too?" Shin asked, glad to hear that Kolo had already taught someone else the technique. Sometimes the older Nara had a hard time following instructions since he tended to zone out every once in awhile. "Its a deal!" Shin said with a nod, accepting to teach him the Escape technique. He had been taught the escape technique by Hanabira, who Shin hadn't mentioned to Kolo yet! Scratching the back of his head, Shin smiled one of his goofy crooked grins. "Actually, my girlfriend, Yamanaka Hanabira, taught me the Nawanuke technique," Shin said, referring to the escape technique with its proper name. A small blush hit Shin's cheeks as he mentioned that he had a girlfriend. He hadn't written home about having a girlfriend here in Shimagakure, but he was fifteen now and having a girlfriend would be a natural thing, right? He just felt a little silly telling anyone back home about it, since he hadn't seen anyone from home in almost three years.

Kolo was a little shocked by the question his cousin asked him. Kolo didn't know if he had a friend... Akemi hated him, he faught Seiko.... Maybe Akiko. "Yes, yes i did." Kolo said, still wondering how many friends he had in Shima. Kolo continued eating, he wasn't eating quite as slowly as he was, but he was still tired. 'So, Shin has a girlfriend.... I wonder what she is like.' Kolo thought to himself, hoping to avoid the topic of friends, Kolo filled his mouth full of noodles and looked at his pack. It was still in the middle of the floor. After he swallowed, he asked about his bag. "Where can I put that?" He pointed at the eyesore behind the furniture.

Shin was glad to hear that Kolo had some friends. Shin wouldn't have made it through the Academy without all of his friends. "What's all in there?" Shin asked, thinking that Kolo could unpack everything and they could find places to put his things. Shin hadn't brought much with him and after living her for three years he still hadn't filled up his apartment. His dresser was full with clothes and his closet had a few momentos from festivals in there, but there wasn't much anywhere else. Shin didn't even roll up his bed after using it. He had a bedroom, so he just left the bedroll sit on the floor all the time. Sometimes he felt the couch was comfier than his bed at times. Shin hadn't shared a room with anyone in a long time. When he lived in the students dorms, his roommates kept moving out! "We can put it in the closet for now or you can leave it here if you're tired?" Shin suggested as he got up from the couch and dropped his bowl off in the sink. He was getting kind of sleepy too and would tend to the dishes in the morning.
