Neo Princess Emeraude TM: True. biggrin I did like 'circle of life' and still do, that Elton John sang. smile I do find songs that express moments in time for HB and other fandoms. My 1st HB graphic novel is coming apart! crying It made cracking noises as I was reading and re-reading it and now I notice the binding is coming apart! crying Are all the earlier graphic novels like this or just the ones from Amazon.com? crying crying Just Amazon. I never ever buy from them. You're much better off with TFAW because they take quality seriously, charge significantly less, and mail it in just a day for just five bucks.

TM: If only they would have more HB graphic novels....but they only have a couple. crying I wonder if TFAW would get more if I asked them? biggrin They do have the animated movies and stuff, but I am leaving that for my holiday wish list. smile Anything you want for Holidays? They will soon be here before long. smile

There are, like, 20 HB TPBs. That's enough for now. A new one is printed every six months or so.
I just checked TFAW. They've got all of them in stock.

TM: Yup, looks like they do. I have never had any problems with any amazon's books before...I wonder why it is with the HB ones? A few other people posted problems with theirs..but I thought they were isolated incidents. I am very careful with my books I was surprised. I did like the pic of HB wearing a suit with a cigarette...so classy. blaugh
Is it just me...I think I saw in one of the previes of the movie that Abe was holding a pair of HB's old horns. It sticks in my mind for some reason and I am unable to find a picture of it anywhere.

One thing about comic book geeks like those who run TFAW: They take amazing care of their wares.
I've never seen that picture, but I've watched all the movie ads ad nauseum. He was probably holding something else.

It was probably his reverse aqua-lung, yeah.
Fanfiction only bothers me when it's not canon. That's why I've been enjoying the RP so much- everyone seems to be trying to stay away from Mignola's characters and focusing on their own... although I generally don't approve of insertion characters unless they're minor.

TM: I don't like fanfiction that writes out Liz or kills her off and leaves HB with the kids... crying Non-canon can be good, if it is written right but I have not see much good ones of that. One fan fiction story I like so far is 'Reclaiming the Horns' on fanfiction.com. The story has a twist but all the chars are 'in character' and I can hardly wait for more. biggrin heart

The only non-Mignola non-Del Tora HB stories I like are the ones in the Odd Jobs anthologies. You should read them, they're fantastic.

They are aliens. They only show up in Seed of Destruction and The Conquerer Worm. From what the audience is shown, they appear to know a lot about the Gods.

TM: Oh. eek Very cool. biggrin I so totally want my own abe fishy for my new aquarium. blaugh I think the movie version is sooo pretty with his eyes and skin! *stars in eyes* Can HB breathe under water or just hold his breath for a long time? biggrin heart I know he had an underwater adventure and wonder how he got air....*ponders*

Hellboy can hold his breath for about five minutes without inducing the trance that static-apnea masters use.
In the comics, during "Three Wishes" he can breath because some mermaids nailed a magic nail into one of his horns. He floats for two years even after the nail was removed. I'm not sure how that happened- it probably was an apnea trance that time where he would breathe every once and a while.

TM: Oh! eek biggrin Plus HB being immortal helps out too. biggrin I can't wait to read up on those parts. biggrin I liked it in the last novel when all the kitties were following HB. I half expected him to turn around and pet one, kinda like a movie reference in the comic or something. LOL blaugh heart

The cats are a reference to old beliefs that consider cats to be representative of the Devil and witches. They probably cling to him because he is the child of both.
The other main in the comics are the frogs- used because they represent death in many cultures.
