I know it's a spoiler but... If Raito won then the story would have potentially kept going. A utopia as he envisioned it would not be the way to end a story. He was bound to fall. What comes up must come down, and the higher you are the furthur you fall. Someone would have eventually put a stop to it, the world cannot exist without crime. It's a nice fantasy, but if he did win DeathNote would have kept going. They won't give you a The End when the winner is a homocidal radical mass murderer.

Death Note would have, if Raito won, evolved into something worse than Brave New World, Gattaca, Equilibrium and Minority Report together. (And those who've read/watched all these can get a pretty good idea of how WRONG an 'utopian' society can be.)
Raito: Oh, this guy here THOUGHT about stealing a purse. *Writes name down, guy dies.*
And he'd probably keep writing, since he was the only righteous one in his mind, until he was the only human being on Earth.
And personally, L is cool and all, but Nia is almost as awesome... And got to the same conclusion as his idol did, in almost the same time, and didn't play along with Raito's hoaxes. It all summed up to Raito underestimating his foes, overestimating his allies, and getting what he had coming since Page 1 (or episode 1 if you're into the anime.)

Killing for a cause, for the sake of killing, or in self defense, is killing. In reality Raito is no better than a petty thief. I don't see why people fawn over him. The only time he was actually good was when the Yotsuba people had the DeathNote, his name was Higuchi right?

To me it was still the same he'd been doing all along.
Killing a criminal.
Only this one criminal had a Death Note. And about 5% of Raito's brainpower.
I mean, I like Misa and all, but Higuchi got killed thanks to Misa. "Ouch."

Haha you're right he did... That's the worst thing that could possibly happen in DN. The guy was also too focused on his career and everything. He even goes as far as to kill the other board members. And every death is linked to them. That goes under "5% of Raito's Brainpower" though.

I was wondering, how many of the fans know about Death Note "Page 0"? It's one wicked little tale, really.
And the Death Eraser looks like such an awesome item, but can turn against you quite easily.

It makes Light seem kind of like Hitler. Hitler didn't even fit into his idea of what a perfect person was, and Light doesn't either. Killing is wrong so Light doesn't even fit into a his category of 'righteous person'. The fact that he was killing people who killed people and then he dies at the end. It's almost as if Light is dying 'cuz he doesn't fit into his perfect world in an ironic twist of fate type of thing. Does anybody see what I'm saying? Plus Light was an as$ when he had the Death Note. I liked him much better without it. When he's not a suck-up guy playing God.

Agreed on all accounts.
As for Page 0, it's a side-story involving Ryuuku and a kid who, unlike Raito, is not ******** up in the head. There's some murdering going on, of course, but there's also the Death Eraser.
There's also Page 109 (whereas DN ends at page 10 cool which is basically an epilogue, with a second (lame) coming of Kira (or as Nia called him, Cheap Kira.) It's worth reading just to see the damn huge tarot card fortress Nia was building in one of the scenes (And I mean a fortress. In a large room, taking up most of it. The kid's ******** up, but he's the cool kind of ******** up.)

Death note was overall an AMAZING anime with an incredible storyline..i lovedddd it so much <3 but the ending could've been better for me.
