Wilson listened to House, but it was too painful. Yes, it was understood that House had a hard time, but it was just so selfish to admit his feelings for closure without considering how Wilson felt as well. Now he knew House loved him, but would just refuse to give into them as a couple. A lump was forming in his throat to think about it; repeatedly he swallowed hoping to decompose it. All he could think of was why House would not allow him to work it out with him; he could try and love House enough to bring him comfort to open up. Then again, how could he when Stacy was the only one who made him smile, his eye gleam with love, the only one to make him truly happy. It would kill him if he became another love that failed in the relationship, making House worse off to actually find someone to love. He was not sure why House told him, but it didn’t matter, to him it seemed both of them were not ready. House could not open up or quit being selfish and he was too worried about not living up to Stacys impact. His eyes closed as House paused, before opening still facing away from House.

“I would never stop being your friend House….I guess we just couldn’t make each other happy romantically…both of us.” he muttered, snuggling more in the blanket.

No matter how House saw this, it was not only him that was feeling the other would do better off. Even though he desperately wanted to try, he didn’t want to damage House even more because he failed as well. Plus, House didn’t want to let him try at the present time. Though it was understandable, he could not just sit by and not move on. He was needy, he wanted to find someone he could love completely and if women failed then he would have to find another male. Hopefully he could let go of House to give another the love they deserved, he failed before, but he was sick of failing.

House continued to frown, "I wish I could be what you needed..." He muttered it under his breath, it was barely audible. But House got up painfully slow, his face contorted in the pain. He had been sitting too long, his leg was stiff but the pain was welcomed. It took his mind off of a worse pain, his chest ached with a pain that no doctor except maybe Wilson could heal. He stood for a moment as he let the pain fade. He looked at Wilson, he didn't know what to say to him. For once House may be speechless. He grabbed the empty beer bottles and hobbled into to the kitchen, he did it mainly to get away for a moment. He bit his lip, a wave of depression had hit him. But his eyes wondered to a bottle sitting on the the counter, pills a magical release. He opened the bottle and got two out. He tilted his head back and swallowed them, he sighed in slight relief.

House walked back to the living room and smiled slightly. "Well if there is any hope of me even getting up in the morning, I had better get to sleep." House scratched the back of his head as he waited for Wilson's reply. He wondered how different their friendship would be now because of his little outburst. He hoped that it wouldn't heavily affect it, although he wished that he could possibly learn to not push him away. Wilson had been a lot more understanding then House deserved.

Wilson barely heard what House said and he didn’t bother to ask. His own pain was immense, knowing he could never be with possible the only person he truly wanted to be with. He thought this because he hoped he would be able to let it go and give love to someone who wanted it. As House walked into the kitchen, he spread his body over the couch, the blanket providing some amount of comfort. Though not much since now everything had Houses scent and it was surprisingly pleasant scent for a man that many questioned if he even showered from time to time. His eyes drifted closed for a moment, painfully enveloping in the sin of desire that rose from that scent. Houses voice struck him out of it, eyes opened and facing him for the first time after his snap back at House. He faced the pain as he lost himself in those eyes as he nodded.

“Yeah..we should get some sleep before we kill someone.” he joked, emitting a soft chuckle.

The joke was empty however; everything was just too awkward at the moment. Hopefully it would pass; maybe some sleep would provide closure for the next day. Though Wilson knew the only thing that could help now was finding someone to serve as an outlet for his love. He wished House could just take the plunge now before it was too late and all their relationship could be was platonic. He knew no matter how much he hoped however, House would just limp to his empty room, both being left empty handed and in pain.

House laughed at Wilson's jokebut it was empty and left soon after it came, it happened to take his smile with it. House wished for once in his life that he wasn't so damn impossible. It would be easier for most of the human race if he just ceased to exsist. But suicide was just another selfish way out for House. Yet wouldn't it finally end the pain, no it would only end his pain but it might cause pain for others. He just let a small sigh out, although it would be so easy just to overdose and kill himself, he couldn't. Not only because it would hurt others but because he has always had a persevering nature.

House just began to walk to his room but stopped, "Goodnight Wilson, No matter what happens...." He pauses but continues even though it was hard for him because it proved that he treasured Wilson, needed him even. "I'll always consider you my best friend." He continued onto his bedroom, where he turned off the lights and crawled into bed.

Wilson turned his body, facing away House who began to leave. It hurt too much to watch him leave; crushing all the hope Wilson had left in him. Would it really be for the best, or were they both completely off track? Wondering didn’t matter anymore, especially when your hope seemed to fade with that one action. His eyes remained open, staring at nothing in particular as he listened to Houses final words. His eyes glossed over before he closed them to forbid any tears to fall.

“You too House…” he whispered.

Who knew that choosing to be friends would be so painful?

It was seven o'clock in the morning but House was fast asleep. Not just fast asleep but that snoring and drooling sleep. He was dreaming about Wilson and Stacy, both were doing highly inappropriate things. It was a pretty nice dream all in all, it made a smile come to his face. But soon the dream turned into a nightmare. Wilson was arguing with him about how he didn't share enough and Stacy was doing the same. He was cornered by them trying to back away, trying to escape. A wall stood between him and freedom, pills had appeared in his hand. As he took them the wall started to fall down around him.

He frowned but he knew subconciously his body and mind be trying to tell him something. He already knew that he depended heavily upon the pills as a certain escape. House had a way of escaping from situations with medication or sarcasm.

Wilson was almost finished in the bathroom getting ready for work. He could hear stirring in Houses bedroom, his eyes shifting to the open door. Though he knew House would not do much to get ready for work, at least he would shower. The blow-dryer went silent as he walked into Houses room. Leaning down, he gently nudged House and whispered so not to startle him.

“House…House it’s time to get up.” He whispered, waiting for him to respond.

House reached out and wrapped a hand around Wilson's tie pulling him close. He turned his head to face him they were an inch apart but House was glaring as usual. "If your going to ask me to get up this early, you had better have a cup of coffee ready..." House's blue eyes were bleared but through the glare they took on a brighter hue. He slowly let go of Wilson's tie, realizing that it may be akward. He buried his head into the pillow again.

He didn't want to wake up although it was easier to wake up to Wilson's face so close beside him. He sometimes wished that Wilson still lived with him, he liked having him so close by. House would probably never admit how much Wilson truely meant to him and maybe thats why they could never be together.

“Well you’ll have to get up if you want to leave with me.” he stated, adjusting his tie.

Normally, House would probably wake up the time he was supposed to be at the hospital. He on the other hand tried to be there on time, but he was never the straight edge type to get technical about when he woke up. Even if it was out of annoyance, coffee did sound ideal, sleeping on the couch never gave him a very well rested feeling. He left House to go make the coffee in the kitchen. His lab coat rested on the edge of one of the chairs, leaving him in only his under attire. Leaning down, he sniffed the coffee grounds, not as fresh as they should be, but it would do for now. Once the coffee gurgled, dripping slightly into the pot, Wilson headed back to finish up in the bathroom.

House mutters something unintelligible as he struggles to get out of bed. His vision is hazy as he stumbles to his feet. House grabbed the nearest body spray and took a standard prostitute bath, knowing Wilson was probably in the bathroom. He picks up a pair of jeans that had been laying on the floor and sets them on the bed. He then proceeds to find a shirt, he picks up his AC/DC t-shirt and sniffs it. No good, he throws it to the floor to pick up a Twisted Sister shirt, smells fine. He pulls it on while he stifles a yawn. He goes back to the bed and puts on his jean hopping on his good leg to pull them on. House ends up stubbing his toe against the bed frame and lets out a stream of profanities that would make a sailor blush. He sits down on the bed and continues to mutter unspeakable words under his breath while pulling on a pair of socks and slipping on his sneakers. He grabbed his cane last and headed for the kitchen, stopping only to look in the bathroom mirror. He could probably put off shaving for a few more days. He hobbled into the kitchen in a sour mood, or even more then a sour mood then he's usually in.

As his hair was becoming more manageable, he could see House walk past him through the mirror. Today didn’t look like it was going to be a good one and it would only be worse for Houses staff. At least he would be early so Cuddy would not make it worse by punishing him for being late. It was a little longer before he walked out of the bathroom, the coffee sat still in its pot, the machine not making a sound. House mumbled as he poured coffee into two mugs. The steam raised quickly, the smell filling the room as it danced before vanishing. Placing the pot back in its place, he grabbed the two mugs, setting one down in front of House. He sat in the chair, taking the first sip.

The heat burned his lips slightly, but not enough to cause discomfort. The taste was slightly bland; he wondered how long the coffee had been sitting in the cupboard. Reaching over, he poured some cream and sugar into the cup, mixing it with a spoon; hopefully it would give the coffee some taste. He looked up to House, wondering what got him so cranky so early. The first thought that came to mind would have to be the night before, that even made him slightly upset. Wilson decided to let it go however, there was no sense in holding onto something that would never be. Sure it hurt and he was still a little angered at Houses actions, but moping about it was pointless. He just needed to find another person to love and then things would slowly fall back into place.

“The least I could do for getting you up so early.” he stated, a small smile appeared before he took another sip.

House took up his cup of coffee and sipped it. It wasn't great but it was fine for its purpose. He hated getting up this early, it had to be against some kind of law. He yawned slightly and picked up his pill bottle. He shook it and cursed silently, he was out. This day just couldn't get any worse, he lost his chance to have love again, he had to get up early, and he was out of vicodin. If it could get worse he certainly didn't want to deal with it. But of course it would get worse, as life progressively got worse. Its little moments of happiness were few and far between.

He nodded to Wilson's statement, he wasn't feeling talkitive but hopefully Wilson wouldn't take it the wrong way. It wasn't the first time House had nothing to say. He was just so tired and not the kind of tired that sleep could fix. It was going to be one of those god awful days, Cuddy would probably find some reason or another to get mad at him. He would most likely offend one of his team members and they would hold it against him like the annoying peons they were. This day was going to suck, you could smell it in the air.

Wilson smiled slightly before taking another sip. It seemed that today was going to be one of those days. Last night was no help and possibly the cause. Hopefully, he not making last night a huge issue would help improve Houses mood. Before he knew it, the cup was empty, only slight liquid on the inside around the rims. He took a small look into his cup before getting up and washing it out in the sink. After he set it in the sink, he turned to House as he sat at the table.

“When you are done we will head out.” he stated.

House finished off his cup of coffee and stared down at the empty cup. He set it on the counter and sighed. He gripped his cane that had been sitting near him. "Alright, well we might as well go." He walks towards the door but turns slightly to talk over his shoulder. "I hope you know that I get control of the radio." He grins slightly, trying to get in a better mood, but it seemed very forced.

Wilson laughed slightly as he grabbed his coat. Just a hint of House feeling better was better than nothing. He walked out of the apartment, waiting for House to lock the door to the apartment. The feeling of how the rest of the day would progress still made the air tense around him. Not much to look forward to in the day other then diagnosing his patients along with Houses when he would shove an X-ray in his face. To add to it, last night and the bitterness that came with it would be running through his head all day and possibly for a longer time. The fact House told him but still did nothing cut deep, but you can only cure a broken heart with love. That was the same pointless philosophy he had been living for the past few years, a few more couldn’t make much difference.
