Mori Kesumi Scridget Flute and piccolo heart
Our oboe player has such a big head gonk He got first chair region, then went on to state. He gets solos all the time. Then, at the end of the concert and he has to stand for the recognition blah blah blah, he waves. I hate people like that! I don't take recognition for my "special abilities" to be able to start out on the oboe...I'm treated like another flute...even though I'm not a flute! Gahaha. No gonk.

Oboes are so unused =/
Though, I must admit, I don't like the sounds of double reeds at all sweatdrop yeah... I didn't at first.... *Quack* But now I'm playing the oboe.... I don't get recognition... No one in my band does.... The band as a whole gets recognition all at once... 4laugh do you sit in the flute section too or do you just have your own section?

Yay! There's a section for flutes! I'm a proud flute player and currently section leader. Is there other section leader flutes that want to talk? Actually, I want to talk to any flute...how's your experience with the bd and drill instructor?

What do you guys think, should piccolo be considered a different instrument, or a kind of flute.
I'm tempted to say that they're two closely related instruments.

Well, on our programs I'm listed as the piccolo, so I'm listed first and in my own section. It makes me feel really special, lol. So I think it's a separate instrument. Because.....it is. I mean, in auditions and stuff you even have to pay extra for playing piccolo, so it's obviously not considered a flute, lol. Piccolo...is a fairly difficult instrument... Playing picc for a long time = sore mouth. >.< I'm a section leader, but I'm self appointed, does that count? We don't have chairs.
Band director loves me as a piccolo and a person, and he will love me as a flute next year. Drill instructor = BD. lol. Yeah...

Ash Rail What do you guys think, should piccolo be considered a different instrument, or a kind of flute. I'm tempted to say that they're two closely related instruments. I think it should be a different instrument all its own. Yes, one could consider it a member of the flute family, but it's not really a flute per se. Just like the oboe's not really a clarinet. They're just similar-ish.
