I keep wanting to track down a php gallery, but all the ones I test out from hotscripts kinda suck. I don't know php which limits how much customization I can do.
I intend to learn it shortly, actually. Bought a book. A damn expensive one about using php with flash, which should be good once I actually get around to doing the lessons in it.

PHP is a web-based programming language.
A PHP gallery will look however it's programmed to look. 3nodding

An example of what PHP can be used for is uh.. the Gaia Online forums. Last I checked they use a modded version of PHPBB.

Photobucket probably uses php, yeah.
Though.. not only looking how you want it to look, but working how you want it to work as well.

I use coppermine gallery. I know absolutely nothing about coding, so it looks generic on my site, but I've seen other sites who really integrate it into their sites well.

http://www.twofrequencies.com/copdriv/

I love how organized and easy to use it is.

I envy your organisation - it's good to have space for descriptions and other relevant informatiom ... I tend to just throw a million links all over my gallery and hope for the best (;

Have you ever tried Kaigakan? I came across it today, actually, so I can't say much for it as I've only just extracted the files for it, but it would be very hurrah to know someone else had heard of it. From the examples it looks fairly easy to use/customize ... but obviously that doesn't mean anything in practice (;

I don't believe so, no. I can't remember the names of any of the ones I tried ^_^;

Between composing my last post, posting my last post, reading your post, and writing this one, I've got the kaiga-bizzo up and sort of working: http://www.luminescher.com/kaigakan/ - except, you know, I haven't uploaded anything because I'm coping with an error and no one can see anything because I haven't uploaded anything (;

I might come back to this review later when I've done more (;

It looks pretty cool so far, though. I may give it a test run later today.

I haven't got much further with it yet (time etc.), but hopefully across the weekend I'll have a proper gallery sorted.

On an unrelated note - can any artist-types recommend good/reliable/well-known art supply sites? Thank you in advance to anyone who knows.

Well, I buy from semi-chain shops in my city. I dunno their websites, but they both have online retail, I think - Pearl and Utrecht. I'm sur eyou could google up either.

Indeed, search engines=hurrah (: The sites don't really say much for their reputation, though (other than what they claim), so I've just been asking around for people who might know (people around here) as opposed to people who don't (me) and people who have something to gain from waxing hurrah on a particular site's reputation (them).

I'll search for the places you mentioned, though (: Thank you.

My boyfriend got me some copic markers for my birthday, ordered them from http://www.dickblick.com
I don't know anything for their reputation or other peoples experiences, but my markers arrived a few days ago with supersized bubble wrap.
