"He found out who I was." she replied. "Found my familly. Gave me a choice. Their lives or one of my team mates. Ended up working for him to save both." she continued, then became a bit quiet for a moment. "Did quite a bit more than simply work for him. Everyone had it out for me in the end. Even my team." she finishted, staring at the end of the couch.

"So THAT'S why my appearance was more of a mixed reminder, as you put it, not simply a bad one..." Savage said. He got off the couch, moved so that he was standing just ahead and to the side of Sapphire's head, and knelt down on one knee too look her in the eye. His face was only a couple inches away from hers, probably closer than what she would normally have been comfotable with, but he was pretty sure that the brandy would've taken care of that by now. She'd had a fair amount of it. "What happened then, happened then. As likely as not, it happened a world away, literally. And I'm not this man that you speak of. You're safe from all that now. What happens in here, in this room, will stay here. For tonight, you're free. Free of everthing. The lies. The betrayal. The double life. All of it went away the moment you stepped in here with me." He stayed there, for the moment, as he let his words sink into Sapphire's mind.

Sapphire stared at him for a moment after he spoke, into his eyes. "Free of everything...?" she repeated quietly.
She wished such a thing could be true. But everything always seemed to have a way of blowing up in her face.

With a sincere smile, Savage replied, "Yes, Sapphire. Free of everything. The world lies outside the door, or out the window, depending on your preferred method of exiting, waiting for the both of us. But in here, no, it can't get in here. In here, you're untouchable. In here, you're free."

Sapphire stared at him a moment longer. Then, slowly, returned his smile. "Like the sound of that." she said, quietly again.

Sapphire smiled slightly, then closed her eyes and leaned over to meet his kiss. So much for nothing happening tonight.

He held the kiss for a couple minutes before breaking it. Once he did, he looked in her eyes again, and said, "I'm sorry, I know you said earlier that you didn't want to do anything tonight. I couldn't help myself from trying..." A complete and utter lie, but he felt that it was a good thing to say, as he felt this was, too. "You truly are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my long life." This, however, wasn't far off target. She was certainly beautiful.

Sapphire couldn't help but smile. "Thank you. It's alright...nothing wrong with a kiss." she replied. Actually, she may very well end up changing her mind about what she was going to do tonight. "Besides, I believe you offered to take the couch for tonight?" she continued, her smile turning a bit playful.

"Over easy," Terry responded offhandedly, then blinked. What was he saying? He couldn't stay for eggs! What was wrong with him? After furtively glancing into the kitchen to make sure her back was turned, he removed the makeshift mask from his face and slipped his familiar cowl back on. Of course, if she had wanted a look at his face she'd probably gotten it already, but old habits died hard. That done, he started getting the rest of his costume on, dressing as swiftly and silently as possible.

"Alright..." Sapphire said with a small smile.
A few strands of blue appeared around the edge of her robe and pulled it back up by her shoulders. She carefully slid her arms back into the sleeves to cover herself when she moved, but didn't make sure that the robe was tightly around her.
She gave him another look over as she sat up and grinned a bit. "By the way...do you always meditate like that?"
