Reminds me of how even Yu-Gi-Oh got dicked with the whole "Shadow Realm" junk.
Though it actually surprised me that people died when they lost a duel under such circumstances...Wikipedia The concept of the Shadow Realm is often derided, mostly for the basic fact that it is a result of the censorship of the darker aspects of the show, but also partly for some of the more preposterous insertions of the Shadow Realm - for example, while dueling the conjurer, Arkana (Pandora in the English manga and Japanese versions), Yugi Muto (Yugi Mutou) comes under threat from a "dark energy disc" which, if it touches him, will send him to the Shadow Realm. In the Japanese version, the disks were simply buzzsaw blades that would dismember the loser. Similarly, a tag-team duel involves the duelists dueling atop skyscrapers. In the English version, the windows they stand on shatter when the team loses, dropping them into the Shadow Realm. In the Japanese version, the windows shatter, and the duelist simply fall to their deaths.

That was a LONG night.That's why I almost never marathon shows. I stay up too late as it is. I haven't watched it at all before now, but the initial blogs of episode 8 had a spoiler warning.

What really pisses me off the most about 4Kids is that they go out of their way to remove as many references to Japanese culture as they can...because, apparantly, to 4Kids...Japan doesn't exist! They say that its' because kids wouldn't understand. Well, THAT'S WHY YOU SHOULD LEAVE THE JAPANESE CULTURE REFERENCES IN THE ANIME'S, SO THEY CAN LEARN ABOUT THEIR CULTURE!
