Brayden entered Mauville, heading southwards towards Slateport. Although he relatively walked in silence, Chairo followed along with him, the two enjoying the sunshine for the time being as they travelled their way to the island where the others had gathered.
"So, I'm not sure if you've ever been in Dewford," Brayden admitted to Chairo. "At least, I don't think you've been outside your Pokeball if I have been there since getting you," he shrugged with a grin to the Lucario.
'I haven't,' Chairo stated simply. His mental conversation continued, 'Although I am looking forward to it a bit.'

The two headed on southwards, passing through the town and making their way through the grassy areas south of Mauville. Brayden opted not to take the bike route, preferring to walk, although it would take a bit longer to accomplish. Chairo seemed eager for the exercise as well, so the two chose the grassy route instead.
A rustling in the underbrush alerted them to their first wild Pokemon in a while. Brayden smiled, looking to the Lucario.
"Ready for a quick battle?" he inquired.
'Ready and waiting,' the Lucario retorted with a slight smile.

"Alright, Chai, this one should be fairly simple," Brayden smiled, spotting the canine darting from the underbrush to snarl at the Lucario. Chairo was undaunted, as he took up position in front of Brayden, prepared for battle.
Chairo's first move was to strike up a Dark Pulse. Concentrating, the Lucario blasted an orb of dark energy at the Manectric, who yelped, flung back a few paces from the blast.
((-75 Manectric, 15hp remaining))
The Manectric growled low, lashing back with a Tackle, slamming into Chairo. However, the Lucario was less than phased, and simply brushed off the blow before lashing back with a Force Palm to finish things off.
((Not very effective, -10 Chairo, -45 Manectric, Manectric has fainted, Chairo gains +6 exp!))

"Great job, Chai," Brayden grinned, glad that the Lucario had done so well on his own. "You did well for your first battle on your own," he laughed. Chairo nodded, smiling faintly.
'It wasn't so hard,' he admitted, 'Although there is still much I need to learn.'
"I think that's true for everyone, my friend," Brayden admitted with a wink as the two picked up their pace once more. They completed the trek from Mauville, and pretty soon, Slateport was coming back in view.
