I think it's ryuu, not ryu. Which makes no difference to the English-speakers, but makes a world of difference to the Japanese, lol.
like said earlier, ryuu means dragon. Ma means bad or evil. Zoku means clan or race. So yesh. XD

no its Ryu that means dragons, I remember because of the amount of video games and a different anime that use Ryu for dragon and not Ryuu.

Ty Ty no its Ryu that means dragons, I remember because of the amount of video games and a different anime that use Ryu for dragon and not Ryuu. No, it's ryuu. So says this online dictionary which displays the kanji, the romanji, and the kana where applicable. You have to scroll down some to get to just dragon, which is romanized as "ryuu". click me =D

I know that it's pronounced Ryuukyuu or Ryūkyū Shotō (Islands) In Okinawa I heard and saw it plastered everywhere... and farther more, to back that up I looked it in my dictionary both versions are excepted uses of the word. Generaly, but NOT aways does a long vowel mean that a honorific has been added to the word's meaning... this isn't always so, don't confuse Oji-san and Ojii-san... My brother had the mistake of saying the wrong one to my uncle...
:Edit: Midori, aren't there alterations from time to time when a suffix is added to Japanese words?

Ohayo! I'm WolvenMage, a human who decided to join all of you over here. I'm a newer Slayers fan, but my loyalty is beyond many words. ^^
Hmm...favorite characters are Lina and Zelgadis, but I support the Lina/Gourry couple to the end! >.<
I like roleplaying and anime, of course, but I also like history and writing.
And for personal info? Well...
Sore wa...himitsu desu! ^^

1. That's funny, because it worked for my friend and it works for me, even though it's been over a day since I posted it. 2. I'm suggesting that a bunch of TRANSLATORS thought it'd be EASIER on the American/English speaking audience to see the word "ryu" and not "ryuu". 3. Your link is from an urban dictionary, not a Japanese one. And on a note, I got so confused when we learned the word "ryo" in Japanese (meaning dormitory room) because I kept on thinking "ryuu". XD XD I had to pause and think before I spoke, cause if I hadn't, I'd be studying inside of a dragon. XD XD

Also >.>.. read what Naomi said. She accually read it in a book which is better then online. She said both versions are excepted uses of the word. That means we're both right.
