Satoshi practically fell down having finally completed the ten laps that Zephyr had told him to run. His breathing came out ragged and short having wasted a lot of energy in the short bit of running that he had made previously. He couldn’t believe that he was finally finished. It felt like it had taken him a lifetime to accomplish the training, but it was finally over now. Satoshi slowly began to get up catching his breath and resting a bit as he did such. He then turned to his sempai a smile completely covering his face. Satoshi then said, “How was that Senju-sempai? I finished the laps just like you asked what next sensei?” Satoshi then remained quite allowing the quite time before his next lesson to rest up. He didn’t want to be too exhausted to continue that was for sure.

Zephyr chuckled lightly at Satoshi's next words. So that kid thinks he is so tough and can handle more, eh? Well...back then, when his Nara, Uchiha, and Hyuuga charges would say something of this sort...usually their task will be doubled in harshness. For example, take Shikamori...whom had to run twenty laps with weights the second time around for his retort. But...this was slightly different. Satoshi may be the same age as his students when he first met them...but those three were stamina powerhouses even back then... Oh well. Rough work will have to be saved for later. "Alright, kid. Meditation is next."

Satoshi smiled a bit as he heard his sempai chuckle right in front of him. He was glad that something like a laugh had come out of the Senju Master when so much more could have happened. He thought that perhaps he would have been reprimanded for taking so long to complete the training or forced to do it all over again. Satoshi’s hopes weren’t allowed to get too high however, as the second he had thought about his own successes today he heard the new exercise that he was going to have to do. Satoshi formed a nervous smile and even chuckled a bit as he realized that he was going to have to meditate. Something like that was really hard for the over imaginative Satoshi. Even looking back to his prior training Satoshi’s mind had always been up in the clouds sometimes literally. He wasn’t sure how he was going to do this. Satoshi only gave a small swallow realizing that no matter what he had to accomplish it. Besides at least it wasn’t physically taxing like the prior exercise had been.

Satoshi gave a deep breath as he nodded his head to his sensei and said, “Yes sensei I will get right on it sensei.” Satoshi then sat down in a pretzel formation, a form he had thought he read somewhere helped with meditating. He then began to breath in and out deeply relaxing his body so that he could better fall into his concentration. Satoshi then closed his eyes attempting to free his mind of all its clambering thoughts as well as keep his whole body relaxed. Satoshi wasn’t so sure how well he would do on his first try, but he would certainly give it a go.

Satoshi attempted to keep his mind clear, tried his hardest to keep everything a blank screen up in his head. However, such things were much easier said then done. Eventually shadows that had stayed near the corner of his brain moved towards its center taking on shapes. It was as if all had been waiting for a small moment of weakness by Satoshi and were all now jumping out of the woodwork to come and play. Satoshi tried with all his might to push the thoughts out of his head to flush them out and watch them fly out of his ears. However, nothing worked and eventually he was watching a little ballroom dance going on in his mind. Satoshi soon realized that the most he could do at this point was to simply open his eyes and start all over again. That was exactly what Satoshi did too; he blinked his eyes open a bit taking in the surroundings for only a second.

Satoshi then began to breathe deeply once more allowing the air to completely fill up his lungs before releasing it. Satoshi soon felt that he was in an enough relaxed state to attempt to meditate once more. The Senju student then began to filter out everything that had been running amuck in his cranium. It took quite a while to dispose of all the imaginative little creatures, but in the end Satoshi was successful. Satoshi then allowed a smile to creep up on his face as he closed his eyes once more and tried once again to fall into a state of meditation.

Satoshi barely got a chance to close his eyes before a fleet of images came crashing back in to bother him. Satoshi had figured that the training exercise was going to be hard due to his age and imagination, but this was ridiculous. Of course he didn’t blame Zephyr-sama for giving him the task mainly himself for not accomplishing it more easily. It was soon becoming apparent that his sempai had clearly given this job to him for he had realized during the run or perhaps even earlier the small world that Satoshi kept hidden within his mind. Satoshi realized during the heat of battle such thoughts would distract him and possibly cause either him or his allies to get hurt and maybe even died. If he wanted to become a well accomplished shinobi he would need to be able to look past these daydreaming occurrences and simply be able to concentrate on the here and now.

Satoshi moved his arms so that they were now hanging in a more relaxed state as he continued with his breathing exercises. Eventually he could feel all the pressure that was on his chest simply melting away. He then closed his eyes his world turning into some form of a game. It did this for it seemed as if he was locking on each image that formed in his head and then blasting it a way with some imaginary weapon. Soon enough all the creations had been turned to smithereens and all that was left was his weapon. He promptly disposed of that and was now ready to go back to the task at hand. Satoshi made his mind form a blank slate as he closed his eyes completely and tried once again to concentrate.

Satoshi was quickly biting his lip in a bit of frustration as this time not images came to mind, but the sounds of the environment around him quickly aroused him from his meditative state. His eyes flashed open taking in a dragonfly that had been soaring rather close to his head. Its incessant buzzing had woken Satoshi up from his relaxing state, its sounds bothering Satoshi’s eardrums and forcing him to relocate his attention. Satoshi realized that this wasn’t good. If something as simple as a bug could distract him how was he ever to become a true shinobi? Satoshi quickly drew in a few quick breaths attempting to relax himself. He couldn’t dwell on his shortcomings he just needed to press on and hope for the best. If hope didn’t work then he would simply make it work for that was the type of person that Satoshi was.

Satoshi managed a few blinks attempting to relax even his eyelids at this point. He wanted his whole body limber if he was hoping to even be able to meditate for a few minutes. At this rate he was barely lasting a few seconds before his imagination conjured up some fantasy or a simple bug drew him out of his own concentration. When Satoshi felt that he was ready once more to attempt to meditate he slowly began to close his eyes and move his body into a relaxed state. Satoshi then wiped his mind clear of any and all thoughts feeling that perhaps this time would be the time where he succeeded.

Satoshi ended up failing yet again, but luckily for him this time it wasn’t something like a noise or his imagination that had distracted, but rather a bug bite. Satoshi hissed as his hand instinctively moved with a vindictive nature to smash down upon the small mosquito that had perched on is right arm and began to try and steal his life nectar. It was only after he wiped off the guts of the small insect that he realized what he had just done. In order to get revenge for simply being bitten he had allowed himself to be shaken out of his meditation. Satoshi’s head sagged a bit in embarrassment and depression mostly angry at himself that he had not remained calm and collected. He should have simply allowed the mosquito to drink his blood. Sure he would have been left with an itchy arm later, but it would have been certainly worth it if he could have shown his sempai that not even the feeding of an insect would arouse him from his meditations.

Satoshi let out a sigh honestly beginning to wonder if he was ever going to be able to pull this off. Even if he was only able to meditate for a few minutes he would still call it a successful attempt, for now. As he got older and more experienced that scenario would probably change, but for now he would be happy with it. Satoshi once more fell into the now becoming familiar steps that he had been using all throughout the training session. He did his breathing exercises, relaxed his body, and once more closed his eyes this time his brain remaining completely black a darkness that no light could pierce through. He was hoping that this sort of mindset would allow him to keep up his meditation and hold it for a few minutes.

Satoshi’s face was a complete blank slate as his body remained perfectly still. He had finally succeeded in meditating at least for the time being and his body was completely still. Of course Satoshi didn’t really know that he was meditating for he was so busy concentrating that his mind didn’t have the time to realize what he was doing. He was so focused on just maintaining his calm that all time had seemed to stop and Satoshi had no idea on how long it had been since he had started. On the bright side it didn’t even matter to Satoshi for so transfixed was he that he did not even try to tell what time it was or how long it had been. For all he knew it had been a whole day or perhaps only a few seconds since then. Satoshi kept his breathing steady as his mind remained completely clear of all thoughts. Satoshi could only hope that he could maintain this peace of mind and continue with his meditation, unfaltering.

Satoshi had been doing so well even keeping his mind completely blank and free of all thoughts. However, he could not contain himself any longer. He could feel his concentration slipping his mind and body beginning to catch up with himself. Eventually Satoshi was completely shook out of the small focused state he had placed himself by releasing a mighty sneeze. Satoshi shook his head his hands moving to check his nose and make sure that it had been a sneeze brought on by just a tickled nose. Satoshi scratched his nose a bit a little upset that he had been doing so well only to suddenly fail. Satoshi let out a sigh doing a bit of light stretching in order to relax the muscles that had tensed up during his awkward time sitting in the pretzel stance. A few seconds of light stretching completely relieved him of the tautness his muscles had become and now he was ready to once again attempt to relax and meditate.

Satoshi began to move through his breathing exercises feeling his chest rise and fall with each passing breath. His body was much more relaxed now due to the small amount of stretching he had performed and thus easily fell into the pretzel sitting stance necessary for the meditation exercise. The only thing left was to close his eyes and make his mind completely devoid of all thoughts. The first part was easy, but the second part took a little longer then he would have liked. Eventually Satoshi accomplished that too and he was ready to begin again with his meditations. Satoshi went right at it hoping he would succeed again.

This time around it wasn’t something as simple as a sneeze that had forced him to break from his concentration, but in actuality a cough. Satoshi lurched forward a heaving cough breaking through the silence and coming out of his mouth. Satoshi was beginning to wonder if he had caught something and was now sick. He really hoped not since it would put a damper in his training and probably halt his advancement. Satoshi knew that if he did truly get sick Zephyr-sama was going to force him to stop until he was fit enough to continue. If that were the case then he was just going to have to push himself to hurry up and complete this training exercise in hopes that even afterwards he would not become sick and half to stop midway through his training to become a genin. Satoshi quickly recovered from his lone cough and was slowly becoming reassured that it had just been something in the air that must have choked him up and not some virus that he was catching.

Satoshi moved his hands so that the knuckles cracked making weird popping noises. It was something that Satoshi had done simply to relax himself and take his mind off the difficulty of the exercise. Satoshi was a little frustrated, but he wasn’t about to quit any time soon. Satoshi was a bit annoyed as he continued with all his breathing exercises once more. He was starting to get the same monotonous feeling that he had gotten when he was forced to run. However, just like before he wasn’t about to stop until he had completed the task he had been given. When Satoshi finally felt that he was ready he closed his eyes and fell once more into a trancelike state hoping that he would stay in this one.

Satoshi had thought for sure that he was going to succeed this time that this go around he would make it several minutes before anything shook him out of his concentration. Boy was he completely and utterly wrong. By some evil demon magic that mosquito that had only landed for a few seconds on his arm before had drank enough to create the horrible effect that mosquito bites made. Satoshi found himself itching his arm wildly shaken out of his concentration by the horrible feeling in his arm that could only be remedied by scratching it until his entire arm was a beet red. By the time he realized that he had pretty much gotten himself out of the meditative state it was too late. He couldn’t just simply fall into it again. Like before he would now need to relax his body once more trying to not only block out his own mental images, but also now the itching sensation that his arm would be creating.

Satoshi cocked his head back for moment allowing his mind to fill up with a few images so that his imagination would be satisfied for at least a little while. Then like all the other times before he immediately wiped his mind clean of all thoughts, seeming to flush the thoughts out of his mind. Satoshi then looked back at Zephyr before closing his eyes and beginning to relax his body through his breathing exercises. Satoshi didn’t have to wait long to know that his body was ready to commence with the training exercise. He then began to fully fall into meditation hoping that this time around he would be able to stay in concentration.

Satoshi remained in a perfect state of focus his body not moving a single inch and his concentration unwavering. It seemed that Satoshi had completely and utterly fallen into a meditative state with the world passing him by without him even realizing it. Satoshi knew not what time was at the moment or even what was going on in the outside world. The only thing he was concerned with at that moment was keeping his focus and not letting the outside world or anything else for that matter distract him. Satoshi remained like this for a long while making sure not to let himself fall out of this focused state he had placed himself within.

Satoshi could feel everything around him, but never once committed to any one detail. It was as if he had fallen into perfect clarity and nothing could shake him out of it. He smelled the crisp air and felt it as his chest rose and fall keeping up with the breathing exercises he had incorporated prior to falling into his state of meditation. Now Satoshi only had to keep this up for just a bit longer hopefully then he would be finished with his training and be able to report back to his sensei, Zephyr. Satoshi remained calm as he waited to see if he would be able to stay in this meditative state.

Satoshi smile as he open his eyes quickly realizing that he had remained in the meditative state for quite some time. He turned towards his sempai, Zephyr, slowly rising from his sitting position. He then approached Zephyr in a steady and confident gait glad that he had completed this training in a much quicker pace then he had when running his laps. Once more Satoshi bowed deeply to the Senju Master paying his respects and showing how happy he was as well as show how grateful he was for the training. Satoshi then rose still facing his sempai. Satoshi then said, “I have finished your training regiment, thank you for the chance to do so. I know wait patiently for my next orders so that I may begin them.” Satoshi then went silent waiting for Zephyr to answer him and wondering just exactly what he would be doing next. He thought he was going to be doing a jutsu before, but his sensei had surprised him. He now wondered what next would be on their little training regiment.

((Add 3 Kunais and 6 Shurikens to your equipment list.))

Zephyr let out a tiny yawn of boredom. He was never one whom greatly advocated meditation...and to him, it was mystifying how Yokou could sit for a whole damn day in a spot without budging. "Alright! Next lesson - target practice." Clasping his hands together, several wooden dummies erupted from the ground...handy having the raven-haired Sannin around. Each dummy had vital areas marked in a tree-ring fashion. The Senju leader reached into his bag and pulled out a small pouch with a few kunais and shurikens. He threw the pouch at Satoshi, expecting the younger boy to catch it. "Hm...it's pretty simple...your goal would be to obtain 20 points. 10 points if you hit the heart, 7 points if you hit the lungs, 5 points if you hit the liver...3 points for hitting pressure points...and 1 point if you just get something to land on the dummy."

Satoshi raised an eyebrow unknowingly surprised by the sudden yawn that made Zephyr seem disinterested. Of course not really knowing the Senju Master’s personality he had no way of realizing that it was simply because Zephyr-sama did not enjoy meditation. Satoshi even wandered if perhaps he thought that Satoshi’s trouble with it was boring to him. Satoshi ended up pushing the thought aside as Zephyr went on to say that they would be performing a new training exercise now. Even if Zephyr thought that Satoshi had done a poor job earlier at least he was giving Satoshi another chance to redeem himself. Satoshi nodded his head furiously excited that he could once again become stronger and prove himself in Zephyr’s eyes. Satoshi instinctively caught the small pouch that had been tossed to him withdrawing the several ranged weapons that had been left inside. Satoshi looked at it quickly determining just what the training would be long before Zephyr continued to explain exactly what they were doing.

Satoshi wasn’t certain how well he would do during this training, but he would certainly do his best. He really did want to accomplish this training and become even stronger for it. Satoshi stared at the wooden dummies that his sempai had created wondering when he would one day be able to create such wooden replicas so easily. Satoshi then stood back from his sempai realizing that Zephyr wasn’t about to tell him when he would begin. When Satoshi was ready, having already steadied his arm so that it would not shake and mess up his throw. Satoshi then cocked his arm back and let loose with one of the kunai. He was aiming for the lungs, but he figured that if the wind picked up and it went a little of course perhaps it would strike one of the other vital areas of the dummy.
