Kirai was inside of the room with the coffin. The heavy marble lid had been moved, and lay on the floor. In her hand, she held the ring she had given Avarice upon their marriage, which he had left on the decoy body... The body inside the marble casket was in flames. The light from the fire danced about the room, casting Kirai's shadow in many different directions, and illuminating the ring in her hand with a warm flickering glow, which moved about on the smooth surface. She burned the bones and re-lit the fire until there was nothing left of what once was. As the last of the fire was burning out, small crack and pop sounds arising from the flames, Kirai heard a piano being played in the castle. Closing her thin, delicate fingers around the ring, she waited until the last umbers had died away before turning her back to the coffin. Moving swiftly through the darkness out of the room, the only sound to be heard was wooden door slowly creaking and shutting behind her.
Standing in the entrance of the room, Kirai looked at James, a little bit of surprise reflecting in her darkened eyes. "James..." She said, a sense of melancholy in her tone. Kirai bowed to him. Her body smelled like fire, almost an incense quality mixed in with it... Pity, the smell had been too strong for her own senses to sense James past it, and she had not had time to apply perfume and to change into clothes that did not smell of smoke.

James stopped playing and turned to look at Kirai. There was a strong smell of burning and if he didn't know better he'd think the entire place was on fire. But he figured whatever it was that she would have it under control. "Kirai, I thought I'd pop in and see how you were doing. I thought you'd need a man around the place ya know? Someone to do all the heavy lifting and what not. So until you can find yourself another strapping young lad, that'll have to be me."

Kirai gave a gentle smile, and chuckled a bit under her breath. "I greatly appreciate the thought, James. Having such a wonderful pianist would just be an added bonus, I assume?" She walked over to where he was and gently rested her hand, which still held hidden within her loose fist the ring, against the top of the piano. Tilting her head, Kirai blushed slightly and raised her hand to her mouth, "Also, please do pardon the terrible smell of smoke... In addition, please pardon if I am not quite behaving as my usual self. If you would excuse me, I might change into something that smells less like a.... crematorium."

James gave her a light smiled and continued playing. "It's no problem. Besides I'm not acting like my normal self either, I'm sober." In all honesty, James wasn't really quite sure what her 'normal self' was like. Everything was so confusing, very very confusing. "Go on and change, and try not to light any more fires eh?"

Kirai smiled and nodded, "Alright then." Turning around and leaving, she came back within about ten minutes in a different outfit. How she managed to change so quickly and run nearly the full length of the castle in ten minutes, plus adding perfume, plus putting on a corset? Practice...years and years and years of practice. Walking back in, she now was wearing a long black velvet dress with a few layers, and a fairly simple black leather under-bust corset with deep, nearly black burgundy flowers hand stitched onto it. A single black ribbon was tied into her hair. She wore a simple black lace collar, and below that, a delicate silver chain from which dangled a small silver ankh... A symbol which, as of recent, had become a personal favorite of hers. Silently walking over to James, her long skirt trailing across the floor in back, she placed her cold hand kindly on his shoulder, and sat down next to him very elegantly on the piano bench. Although she smiled, her eyes still typically reflected nothing... A bit scary to anyone who was not use to it. "Please tell me, how have you been as of recent?"

James finished the last little trill of the song and turned to look at Kirai. "Interesting. Forgive me, but I went to go see...and get wasted with Avarice. I know you two aren't together anymore but hey, the guy's a good friend." Then it stuck him about that interesting happenstance the night before. "By the way, I met your twin."

Kirai's mouth twisted into something like a frown, and letting out a heavy annoyed sigh, raised her hand to her forehead, You don't hold it against him, you don't hold it against him... "I have no siblings to my knowledge, James." She opened her eyes and looked past her hand and her blonde locks which covered part of her face. "In addition, 'aren't together anymore' is an understatement... a drastic, understatement." So he did do it... but then why was my soul...? Kirai thought back to when she walked into the room, and how she saw her soul kneeling down by Avarice's side. She knew Avarice well enough to know he would of made another body for her soul... That was so predictable of him, in a hopelessly romantic annoying sort of way. Two Kirai's.... great. Excellent. Just what she needed. "Tell me, did she die? Her body is what I am making reference to. Oh, and how is Avarice...? I heard he suffered a minor hit to the head and was feeling a little bit ill in contribution to it."

James shrugged. "I don't know honestly. I passed out after someone tried to attack her and when I woke up everyone was gone." Frowning in returned, he patted her on the shoulder and gave a tired smile. "Listen, I won't see doc for a while k? I'll just stick around here and keep you company."

Kirai lowered her hand to her chin, then instantly remembered, hearing Dimitri's voice in her head. Dr. Warwick came here, kidnapped Kirai in hopes of finding you. He tortured that body until Avarice freed her soul from the body with his necromancy. She never betrayed you to him though. Avarice called me and asked to join him in rescuing her. She then paused. Wait, so he only has made one body for her... I know Avarice is fine, otherwise, I'm quite sure... I would have a concussion at this very moment. Alright, now, I understand. Kirai shook her head, she was so tired, she was not thinking straight... She coughed, covering her mouth with her hand. Oh, and breathing in so much smoke was not helping her either, she was sure. "Thank you, James... My only request is that you please refrain from getting drunk, although I understand full well how difficult that would be for you." Speaking of drinking, it was almost funny to Kirai... Just months earlier, before she started killing as a nosferatu should instead of taking blood tablets, the idea of drinking blood was absolutely disgusting to her, as it had been while she was a strigoii... Now, it was quite addicting. Perhaps, on her next trip out to practice necromancy and to feast upon the unsuspecting... she should pay a little visit to Dr. Warwick.

James smirked and gave a little chuckle. "Oh Kirai, asking me not to get drunk is like asking you not to wear black. Impossible. But for your sake I'll try and avoid it." Smiling at her, he started feel a little bit better about being here. It was good to be catching up with her...er well kinda. Honestly James was still a bit confused about her soul and her body. But in his reasoning, her body made him human again, her soul just kinda got bitchy with him. So the choice was obvious, he liked this one better. "So, what do you want to do?"

Kirai reached up on top of the piano, and pulled off a paper back book with aged yellow pages, covered with dust. Brushing the dust off to the side, she then held it in her lap, and thumbed through the pages. Looking up at James, she offered with a kind, gentle smile, "Would you care to play a duet?"

"I'd love too." James exclaimed happily. If anything was going to take his mind off of all the hectics lately it would be playing a song with an old friend. "Which one were you thinking of?"

She sat the sheet music down on the stand, and pointed to the top of the page, where the words 'Still Doll' were hand written in calligraphy. Resting her fingers onto the keys, she looked over at him and offered a kind look, "Will this do?"

"Of course." James said with a smirk, finding his place on the piano. His fingers found the first few note and started to play out into the castle. "I'll take the low and you take the high k?"
