Stands for International Baccalaureate and it's an academic program that's like AP, but it's similar to college courses. Also since I'm a certificate candidate that means I get to chose the subjects that I want to to do. For me I chose History and English. If you're a Diploma candidate you have to do CAS hours (40 hours of creativity, service and action hours each I think) also all your subjects have to be IB with 2 SL (standard level) subjects, the rest have to be HL (Higher level) There's no difference between HL or SL except for number of exams you must take. HL takes 3 SL takes 2. Well that's how it is in my school. In most schools, they don't even offer the certificate option. If you're still confused I suggest you Google it cause i can't explain this better.

It's actually 50 hours each for CAS. gonk And in some classes like English, your second language and if you have Art as your elective, the exams are relatively the same between SL and HL, but in classes like Math they are truly separate classes. HL math I think goes all the way to Calc. B.
