Satoshi closed his eyes a bit letting a small gust of wind that had picked up in the desolate area hit his face. It truly felt nice after running for all that time. Satoshi was quickly becoming agitated by his constant failure to do something as simple as run. However, Satoshi could probably say that his inexperience is what allowed him to get so easily riled up. This was his first time doing something like this and he had no prior knowledge on whether other shinobi had it this difficult. For all he knew he was a genius of his age. Or it could have been the complete opposite with him being a total dropout who was terrible at all things shinobi. Someone like Satoshi didn’t know and such lack of knowledge is what caused him to be so hard on himself sometimes. Satoshi could only hope that in the future that would get better.

A confident smirk slowly began to form upon Satoshi’s face. It was hard to see beyond all the brown smudges formed from the dirt that had made collisions with his face during his falls. However, it was there plain as day. Satoshi knew that he was so close to beginning to do his training once more and he couldn’t be anymore psyched up about it. He could feel his body tightening up doing the complete opposite from earlier. Before his body had been begging him to stop his running and take a break, now it was asking for him to continue once more. Such a thing was funny to Satoshi to have had his body ask one thing and now want the opposite. It was as if Satoshi’s body was a narcissist and needed the pain. Satoshi’s smile broadened as he whispered to himself, “Not yet a bit more.” Satoshi then went quite simply waiting, just waiting for his body to be ready to continue what he had started.

Satoshi let out a giant yelp as he jumped into the air and back on his feet. His body seemed light as a feather opposed to earlier when it had taken him sheer willpower just to remain on them. Satoshi cranked his arm a few times and then the other, making them limber and stretching them out. Eventually he began to do light stretches with his legs warming them up from the long cool down that they got to have while he rested on the rocks. The fact that even well rested he could soon fail did occur to him, but he did not let it get far. He pushed the thought back to the recesses of his mind knowing that he could never truly kick it out. It was a dark thought that would remain until he finished this exercise. Even when he did that it would only come again when the next challenge reared its ugly head. Such was life for people always second guessed themselves and doubted themselves, no matter what they did. The only thing you could do was push through it and try your hardest to accomplish it despite the whispers of doubt that formed.
Satoshi smiled triumphantly to himself even forming a V out of his fingers for victory. He then began his run with a slow jog, building its pace over time. He wouldn’t go out with a full run just yet, but it would come eventually. For now Satoshi would simply fall into the rhythm hoping that he would complete his fourth lap soon. If he could do that then it would only be a matter of time until Satoshi finished all ten and then could continue with his training necessary for becoming a genin.

Just as Satoshi thought though he was in tip top shape he still could not complete his fourth lap just yet. Satoshi was once more uncertain on just how much more he had to go, but he knew it was no simple matter. Such things had to be strived for if a person wanted to chance to complete them. Satoshi could only hope that with perseverance he would complete this training and learn a new jutsu or something else that would be equally beneficial to his training. Satoshi could see the wisdom in him training this particular thing. After all he had just worked out something that exhausted his chakra. Now he was taking a break from such things and did something that simply worked on his stamina and drained that. Though both were necessary in order to survive at least he wasn’t tiring himself out in the same thing twice. This way he would give the other thing a rest and allow himself to prepare for the next training which might have need for him to have his chakra fully rested or his stamina.
Satoshi was now picking up the pace no longer in the jog that he had been doing. He knew that the chances were that he could waste more energy this way, but he figured that he did really need to catch up. Time was slipping by and he was getting no where. It wasn’t that Satoshi was an impatient man, but simply that he didn’t want to keep the man who had volunteered to aid him wait. He wanted to prove to Zephyr that choosing to train Satoshi had been the right idea and not simply a waste of the Senju master’s time and talents. Satoshi had heard the stories and he truly did hope that one day he too could become a sannin like Zephyr’s students. Satoshi let a small childlike smile escape his mask as he continued to run playing with the idea of becoming a powerful sannin one day.

Surprisingly enough Satoshi did not smile, let out a sigh of relief, or even did a thumbs up as he passed by Zephyr for the fourth time. He was still not even half way to his goal and he knew that this was no time to be acting triumphant or relieved for the training was still not over. He needed to complete six more laps something that was much easier said then done. It had already taken Satoshi this long just to complete four who knows how much more time would be necessary for him to finish another six laps. It wasn’t that Satoshi didn’t want to get his hopes up just that he didn’t want to become too cocky. Somewhere deep inside he felt he could do it, but thinking you can and doing it were two separate things. For now Satoshi had to swallow his pride and simply keep at it, and then when it was all said and done, then he could celebrate.
Satoshi silently nodded to himself agreeing with what his mind was telling him. He had always been the type to think deeply on matters perhaps even too deeply. However, Satoshi felt that it wasn’t a complete bad thing. It allowed himself to look deeply within and see what truly mattered to Satoshi. It is what helped him decide that he wanted to become a medical shinobi and also what helped him realize that he wanted to become strong enough no matter what so that he could help his brothers and sisters of Konoha take back the village that was rightfully theirs from the evil Masters who controlled it now.

Satoshi had lived up to his earlier thoughts of not getting too excited even as he reached the halfway point and passed Zephyr a fifth time. Satoshi was a little glad that this lap had gone much more smoothly then the others, but he would not relax just yet. He was too far from the goal line to think of anything else then the two feet that moved before him. Satoshi remained as stoic as ever as he continued to run around the area avoiding the crevices and burn marks created by the other days previously battle. Every time Satoshi passed by an area where the fight was evident a bit more of the story unfolded. It was as if he was some sort of investigator and at first glance no pieces came to mind. However, the more he stared at it the more pieces of the puzzles were picked up until he could suddenly start putting together things and understanding what had occurred. It was obvious that a few katon type jutsus had been used here. Even to some degree it became obvious just who had fought here.
Satoshi did smile for a change, but not because of how well he was running. Rather he smiled because he figured out just who might have fought here. It was only a hunch, but the signs had helped a bit. Perhaps later he would ask how the fight went and just exactly who had one. He knew who it was, but he figured it was polite to ask. After all, what if the other combatant was nearby. It would certainly be rude to just assume that they lost while they were standing there. Satoshi looked up towards the clouds as he continued to run allowing his mind to try and figure out just how he would go about saying it.

Satoshi kept his eyes glued to the sky his vast imagination taking the cloud and pulling and stretching them in order to create a variety of images. He actually smiled a bit as one of them appeared to look like Senju Zephyr himself. The cloud was a bit more white and fluffy then the real deal, but it was certainly a close likeness. Senju Satoshi was beginning to realize that despite the horrible events that had occurred in his life thus far he was still a child at heart. He still could not look up at the clouds without his imagination running amuck and creating some sort of unrealistic portrayal of someone or something. Satoshi didn’t mind the fact that he was still a child at heart. In fact he was glad for it. He hated the thought of someone as horrible as the Masters stealing his youth. Satoshi understood that all persons needed to grow up sometimes, but he wanted to be the master of his own life not some unforeseen power that he had never even fought before.
Satoshi allowed a confident smirk to form along his face as he thought of how triumphant he was over the Masters. They were only living in his home temporarily and though they had taken the lives of some of its residents they had not taken will of fire from those who had left. Satoshi promised himself that he would return one day and take what rightfully belonged to them and that was one promise he didn’t plan to break. Satoshi put on a mischievous grin as he continued his run even picking up the pace a bit in hopes to complete another lap with this go around.

Satoshi could feel his breathing quickening. No matter how long he rested beforehand his body was just not ready for what it was being put through. Satoshi was sure that he would come out of this exercise with some great enhancements to his body, but until then the training would seem like torture. All Satoshi could do for now was keeping running the fact that this would do amazing things for his body through his head. He didn’t really believe that it was enough just to keep thinking that, but he preferred it over doubting himself and allowing himself to quit. No matter how he looked at it this was just something he needed to complete. There was undoubtedly much tougher trails waiting for him when he got older so in order to meet them he would need to begin his journey right here. With a bit of luck the training he put himself through now would make it so that later on in life the other tough times wouldn’t seem so bad and be much easier to accomplish.
Satoshi kept the pace going despite the fact that he could feel his energy slowly slipping away. The only things in life worth having were difficult to obtain and that’s what made them worth having. Satoshi would not let himself fall behind and slip up. He would break through any barrier, any wall. He would keep going because the his ultimate goal in life was to become powerful. Something like that was worth having in life and thus would only become more difficult to obtain as he got closer. However, these moments were only proof that he was on the right track and that if he wanted to succeed he would just have to keep pressing on.

Satoshi was still enjoying the landscape as he ran on, but he did feel like he was missing something. During times like this where the only thing he could do was keep running in the same direction, he wished he had something to occupy his mind. He had a habit of letting his mind wandered and without a direction to wander to it usually got a bit chaotic and hairy in his mind. Satoshi almost wished that he had some form of music playing as he ran. He enjoyed listening to music occasionally. He knew not how to play any instruments or of any places that he could find music nearby. However, he did enjoy listening to it. He felt that music was so different with so many varieties. There was something for all occasions, bouts of sadness, happy times, even times when you just want to be angry at everything. It was why he enjoyed music because depending on the song and genre it seemed as if his mind could be directed by it. As if his thoughts could be changed by the mood of the song. Satoshi was sure that it was a bad thing to let his emotions get swayed so easily, but he thought as long as he wasn’t in any life threatening situations such things were good to do.
It wasn’t good to bottle things up all the time and thus by allowing himself to wear his heart on his sleeve so to speak when he was alone or in the company of friends he could thus better handle himself later. Satoshi chuckled a bit as his running continued wondering what sort of music Zephyr-sama listened to. He knew it was not the time to think of such things while he continued to run and pursue the task that had been given to him. However, he couldn’t help himself and continued to ponder on the matter as his legs continued its pace.

Satoshi had become so absorbed by the thought of what sort of music his sempai listened to that barely noticed the fact that he had just completed his sixth lap. The only thing going through his head was different melodies and matching those melodies up to the type of personality that Senju Zephyr had. At first he leaned towards something that was upbeat and could be danced too. However, Satoshi thought that there was more to his sempai then just dance music. Eventually his mind also thought of the possibility of classical music. It was a little slow for what he though Zephyr-sama might like, but then again plants loved listening to classical music and who better to listen alongside the plants then head of the Senju clan who prided himself in being able to grow a whole forest with the snap of his fingers. Satoshi in the end decided that it had to be a mixture of those two things. After all his sempai was a casual a guy and was definitely down to earth enough to enjoy the occasionally dance mix. However, at the same time he also probably enjoyed relaxing to a nice soothing tune.
Satoshi thought a little bit more about he perfect combination as he continued running, keeping his pace steady and unfaltering. In fact it was a bit harder trying to keep his pace the same when his mind always seemed to have other things to think about. Satoshi even wondered if his daydreaming would cause all his training sessions to be harder then they should be. Satoshi wasn’t sure exactly how true that was, but it was definitely something to look into in the future. As Satoshi continued to not only convince himself that his daydreaming didn’t matter and also figure out the perfect song for his sempai, he also ran on hoping to put another lap behind him.

Against his better judgment this time as he passed by his sensei, Zephyr-sama, he waved. He knew that he probably shouldn’t have done that and that by some way he had acted cocky in some manner. However, he truly hoped that it wasn’t the case. He really just wanted Zephyr to see that he appreciated him taking the time out to train him. He also wanted Zephyr-sempai to believe that even though he had given the academy student some tough training Satoshi was not letting it get to him mentally. Of course that was very much a lie for he wouldn’t have gotten down on himself for simply waving if that was the case. However, he very much wanted it to appear that way. Otherwise he might give off the impression that he was ungrateful or despised the Senju Master for feeling that it was important to give Satoshi such a physically back breaking exercise to accomplish.
Has he thought more on how much he appreciated that Zephyr was training him it suddenly hit him how much had changed from just a few hours ago. Not so long ago Satoshi was simply wandering the village no motivation and unable to train himself and become stronger. Now he had already seen a fight between a few rouge shinobi and sannin and had even played a game of almost hide and go seek with a Hyuuga head. Never in his life could he have possibly of dreamed of doing such things, for even now he wasn’t sure if this was all just one big dream. However, if it was Satoshi never wanted to wake up for even as his legs began to ache it was a pain that he would not trade the world for.

Satoshi scratched his head as he continued running wondering if he had fallen into some sort of pattern. It seemed that he kept on running into a weird sort of thing where it would take him forever to accomplish one lap, but then all of a sudden he would run the next one just fine. Then just as before the pattern would begin all over again with it taking him some time before he finished a lap once more. He thought that the whole thing was a bit farfetched, but here he was taking a bit of time to run his eighth lap. If Satoshi had the time he probably would have looked into it more, but the fact was that he was still running and needed to fixate on that instead of his own personal theories. Such things just went on his ever growing list of things that just could not be helped. After all he was a child and kids like him always seemed to be asking questions and coming up with the most ridiculous theories. He was just glad that he had matured enough to no longer think that girls had cooties. Of course he still didn’t like a girl or have any plans to fall in love with one.
Satoshi began to think more about the pattern as his legs made a soothing sound every time they hit the gravel. A part of him did want to fall into the pattern did want to fall into the reassurance that eventually he would finish the last three laps. However, the determined side of him wouldn’t have it. He didn’t want to be ruled by some unknown force. Rather he wanted to make his own pattern to break through that set of mind. He wanted to finish the next three laps as quickly as possible and finish this training. He felt he had already wasted enough of his sempai’s time and was determined to finish up soon.

Satoshi blew by his sempai in this go around a bit reassured by the fact that he truly did believe that he broke through the pattern in this case. However, a part of him believed that the unknown forces would not let up. Deep down inside he felt that those unknown forces would attempt to roll over him and force him to fall back into the pattern. However, this is where he planned to make a stand. He would go against the odds and he would come out on top. Satoshi soon began to daydream on what exactly he would do once he was finished with this bit of training. For starters he would fall flat on his butt and allow himself to rest for a bit. After that he would take out the small flask that he held in his backpack and probably drain it. He was dead thirsty now and though he brought with him quite a few flasks of water, this particular area being known for its lack of natural running water, he wasn’t sure if any would even last after he was done getting through them.
Senju Satoshi was so close to finishing this exercise he could practically taste victory. The only thing separating him from succeeding was his own doubts and of course the last two laps that were left. Both however, were things he could easily get past if only he kept his head on straight and simply plowed right through them. Satoshi was much better at exercises were one needed to use their brain, but he knew that it left his body physically weak. He was now going to remedy that problem by completing this training regiment and becoming much more stronger and building his endurance more higher because of it.

Satoshi almost couldn’t contain himself as he passed by his sensei a ninth time. He was now on his last lap having run almost several hours away. He hadn’t actually believed that this simple exercise would have taken this long, but here he was running his life away. Satoshi didn’t fixate on that thought for long. He was so close to the end that it was useless to keep thinking about how long it had actually taken him to reach this point. The only thing left was to finish the last lap so that he could report back to Zephyr-sempai and go onto to another exercise. Satoshi smiled a bit the thought of completing this exercise filling him with hope for the future of his training. Hopefully after this he could learn a new jutsu and become an even better shinobi.
Satoshi kept his pace strong, fueled by the fact that he would soon be finishing up with this training. He wasn’t sure if he would finish this last lap in this go around, but he would certainly try. Satoshi ran one hoping that he wouldn’t have to go much longer, he wasn’t even sure if he could keep up this pace for much longer. He could only hope that he could do just that.
