Teh Lost Soul darkemoninja666 same just got out of school today so now im on christmas break yay i play a silver king trumpet with a 3c mouth piece woot woot I don't get out until Friday and then I go back on the 27th to go to the Fiesta Bowl until the 3rd... I want a Silver Trumpet... Just can't afford it. I'm not sure what mouth piece I use on my school trumpet or my Cornet but My pocket Trumpet's is a 7c. I forget is it the bigger the number before the C the smaller it is or is it the otherway around? i was told the smaller the number the more narrower it is or mayber the higher you can go with that mouth piece. my silver trumpet was only like $1,000

Hurray trumpet players unite!
-cough- i need a few tips.
I've been playing for three years, and usually i could always ask my director, but i would like someone with more experience with these sort of things.
What do you suggest for constantly sticking keys? i usually use valve oil and clean them with the key cleaner but it sticks alot... any tips with this one?
Why do you suppose a brass dents easier than a silver tumpet? i've used both but i've dropped my silver trumpet more than i can think of but i haven't gotten any dents (is a stupid question)
Oh yeah, and i have to play 7 scales by memory for my semester exam, how do you guys easily remember your scales?

I memorize the fingering. Musel memory is eaisier than remembering the music then lokking at it in your mind. I think anyway, but I have only been playing for three years to. As for your keys I don't know what to say.

What would be a good way to learn fingerings? I've been participating in some sort of music for quite a long time. A very long time, and I still can't read notes easily, or remember all the fingerings.
Whenever I play a song well, its only due to long periods of breaking in the music, and memorizing it slowly as I, or the people next to me play.

For your sticky valves I would suggest oiling them every day. If that dosent work might i suggest a new type of valve oil? Superslick is the best out there right now. As for the brass thing... i dont know! I have a brass and a silver trumpet, but my silver one scratches and dents easier. Since silver is a softer metal it is more prone to damage. I guess you're just lucky! 3nodding And for the scale thing?... Pratice makes perfect, my friend!

What's up, fellow trumpeters? whee I have a two-tone Blessing trumpet, that is, it's both silver and brass. It used to belong to my brother but he quit when he was a sophomore. I first played in fifth grade when elementary kids could join band class and played up to senior year. College band may be out of my league. I miss the good old days hanging at band camp and class with friends. crying

Hola! I'm new, but I too play trumpet. I only have one currently (a Getzen Eterna 700 pro-model), but I do have a German Wurzberg Flugelhorn as well. I play on a typical 7C mouthpiece, but after I get my braces off and reestablished playing wise, that'll probably change.
I am currently a music education major (specializing on trumpet, obviously), so if anybody ever has any questions about what it's like to be a college music major....feel free to ask smile

Hey! I'm new, but I've been playing for about four years. I have a question. Theres like five guys in my section and three girls. Are all trumpet players perverted? I'm a freshman, and I'm not used to everything yet, but I was just wondering. And, do any other trumpet players say, Hi, I'm better than you! when they meet someone new? I notice that maribo-chan said that they had to pass of seven scales for semester exams. I have to pass off all twelve scales, including Chromatic to be in band the next year, because my teacher is insane. lol! Anywho, um, play them over and over until you have it locked in your memory. As for the sticky values, I don't know what to tell you.....

Teh Lost Soul MacNak_Attack whats it like to play a pocket trumpet? It takes a little getting used to with how close you valves are to your face.. and The mouthpiece I got with it is a little smaller but other then that it's not really that much different then a rugualr trumpet. does it play higher notes like a piccalo compared to a flute? or is it in the same key... and does it really fit in your pocket?
