The door to the kitchen then swung open. The man that stood their and black shoulder length hair that seemed barely in control, and his face was narrow and angular. He wore a long white lab coat and his thin eyebrows crested his thick circular glasses. He set a tray filled with an assortment of dishes down on the table. Then pushed his glasses in proper place on his sharp nose. A frown creased his face as he glanced at Karrigan.

"Ah Arturo, there you are," Bill beamed cheerfully to him. "I hope breakfast is nearly ready, I'm ravenous."

"And I'm still half starved," Venerax added flicking a coin into the air and then catching it.

"You are both fortunate that Arturo is here," Bill smiled. "He's a fine cook, and that's a boon as I don't know how to cook anything but tofu."

"Its just chemistry," The labboy said a bit smugly. "Its also the most lab work I get around here."

Bill laughed. "We study pokemon, Arturo. And pokemon live in the wild not in labs."

"Hmph." It seemed he may have rolled his eyes, but this was apparently not the first time he'd heard that reasoning. He glanced again at Karrigan.

"This is Karrigan, our expected guest." Bill said smoothly and just as brightly. "She'll be joining us for breakfast."

Arturo sighed exasperatedly. "Well, I did not grab enough dishes for four people. So if you are truly hungry perhaps you can grab another set for her so I can finish up the food."

"Of course," Bill got up and headed for the kitchen.

Arturo turned to leave as well, and tend to his...experiment? And offhandedly added. "Hope you're not allergic to anything or you'll have to fill your bellies with tofu."

The Shinx's ears perked up as the kitchen door swung open, and she and Karrigan watched curiously as the raven-haired lab assistant set down a tray filled with dishes. Zaira's nose sniffed the air intently as she caught the scent of food, and she looked up at Karrigan and whimpered slightly as her belly rumbled. "Don't worry, we'll be eating soon," Karrigan said, gently scratching her behind the ear. She missed most of the exchange between the three guys, and she looked up in time to see Bill heading off into the kitchen, and after a moment or so, Arturo followed after him. She didn't really get the tofu comment, as she rather liked the stuff, providing it was prepared correctly. Smiling a bit, she looked across the table at Venerax. "You're right, he is a bit high-strung," she said, keeping her voice down.

"Beedrill, wake up, NOW!" Jaeshan called, being sure to put extra emphasis on the word 'now'. It seemed to do the trick, as the Bellsprout continued to relentlessly swipe away at the Poison and Bug-type's body, the Beedrill's eyes suddenly opened, and with a cry and a sharp buzzing he broke free of Bellsprout's hold. "Awesome," Jaeshan called, pumping the air with his fist. "Now attack Bellsprout with a Fury Attack, before it can douse you with Sleep Powder again! And Squirtle, you use Dig, same target as Beedrill!"

The two Pokemon both gave quick nods before executing their commands. Squirtle withdrew into his shell and quickly burrowed beneath the soil while Beedrill sped forward, jabbing the Flower Pokemon repeatedly with his pointed forelegs. The Bellsprout could only cry out and stagger back from the vicious attack, though it flailed wildly with its Vine Whip in an attempt to fend off the attacking Beedrill. The vines made contact, but they weren't very effective against the angered bee. "Oddish, you've got to help Bellsprout! Use your Acid!" Mary called out, knowing full well that Beedrill was her biggest worry. The Weed Pokemon hopped up and down before spinning around and sending out a spray of caustic liquid, which coated Beedrill quite thoroughly. Again, it wasn't overly effective, but Beedrill could feel it burning his legs and abdomen. This match wasn't quite over yet.

Mary's confidence seemed lost now that Beedrill was fully awake, and she knew that her Bellsprout wouldn't be able to take much more. She grit her teeth as the Squirtle came bursting out of the ground in a spray of dirt and gravel, scoring a rather strong hit on her already ailing Flower Pokemon. "Finish it off with a Poison Sting," Jaeshan called, and Beedrill was happy to comply. Buzzing loudly, he zipped forward and landed a solid hit with his rear stinger, knocking the Bellsprout over backwards, and it didn't get back up again.

"Oddish, use Absorb," Mary said quickly as she called back her Bellsprout. The little plant nodded and repeated the draining process it had used earlier. Both Pokemon began to glow with a green aura, but Squirtle's aura turned sickly as the Oddish sapped him of his remaining health. Two good hits from Absorb and he was finished, and Jaeshan winced as the turtle toppled over backwards, completely out of it.

"You were great, Squirtle, come back," Jaeshan said, proud of the Water-type's effort against the two Grass-types. The turtle vanished back into his Pokeball in a flash of reddish light, leaving just Beedrill and the Oddish on the field. Jaeshan didn't like to get ahead of himself, but he was sure Beedrill had this one in the bag.

"Oddish, Acid!" Mary called, thrusting her hand forward. Again, the Weed Pokemon spun around, sending out another large spray of the acidic liquid. There was too much of it for Beedrill to avoid and he buzzed in indignation as the burning sensation filled his body once more. He could feel it eating away at his hide, and he felt weaker and more vulnerable because of it.

"Don't give in, Beedrill," Jaeshan called. "Let's try a Brick Break." Even after taking those Ice Beam and Dig attacks, absorbing all that health from Squirtle must have healed it pretty well. Even still, none of its attacks can really hurt Beedrill too badly... Still buzzing loudly, Beedrill dove at his opponent, rearing back his right stinger and swinging it downward, landing what looked like solid blow to the top of the Oddish's head. It didn't seem to do too much damage though, and suddenly Jaeshan remembered that Oddish was a dual Grass/Poison-type, and the Poison-type attribute helped it to resist Fighting-type attacks. Better not make any slip-ups like that against Erika, he thought.

At Kasiya's greeting to her Robin grinned widely and waved even harder from behind Professor Rowan. Behind her the Chimchar watched everything curiously, wow there were a lot of trainers coming to pick up pokemon today. They didn't seem like new trainers though and that was kinda odd. The small orange pokemon walked closer but stopped as he felt a sudden wave of tiredness come over him, stepping back the Ace felt it slip off of him and with a confused look on his face he glanced around for the source of this strangeness.

"Thank you Kasiya, this lab may not be as established as the other professors but we are just as busy here make no mistake." What Kilik said though caused the Professor to frown under his thick mustache. "Hm, well I always have a set of starters but unfortunately even if I wanted to I could not give you one of them. I assume you both are established trainers since you have your own pokemon and so I cannot give you a pokemon. Starting pokemon are for trainers who are just starting out, they wouldn't be starting pokemon if I just gave them out to who ever." Professor Rowan paused though as he stared at them for a long moment.

Ampersand watched Rowan explain to the kids why he couldn't give them a pokemon with an blank look on his face. He was pretty sure these were the kids who were part of the beach party. If they were he was pretty sure something could be arranged, a gift of sorts, of course Rowan would have to put up a front on it. Not saying anything for now Ampersand would speak up though if things got a little out of hand.

Watching the whole exchange Robin felt a little guilty, sure she was technically stealing Ace while Rowan would put a 'search' out on her. Plus it was a totally different situation but still she wished her friends could get starters to. Looking back at Ace she saw him looking around for something heading over to him she scooped him up while he wasn't looking and grinned at him. "You said you knew where Luffy was right?" She asked curiously, she wanted to know where her friend was, he might be getting her into some more trouble!

"Oddish, use Acid, one more time!" Mary called, determined not to give in yet. It might not have been very effective, but the fact that it lowered Beedrill's defenses might have been giving it a bit of a much-needed edge. Oddish was starting to feel a little tired, but like its trainer, refused to give up. It hopped up and down before sending out a third spray of acrid ooze.

"Fly through it and use Fury Attack," Jaeshan called, not sure how well Beedrill was faring. Acid was dripping from his body, and it made painful hissing sounds as well, and the trainer was sure it couldn't be tickling. Beedrill was all-too happy to comply with Jaeshan's command and he braced himself as he passed through the horribly-stinging acid, this time feeling it on his wings. This wouldn't slow the Poison Bee Pokemon down though, and he sped onward, closing in on his target at a speedy pace. Once he was close enough he began a wild series of rapid strikes with his stingers, crying out gleefully every time one of them managed to strike. It would be enough to bring the Oddish down, and with a faint whimper the Weed Pokemon collapsed.

"I knew that Beedrill would be a problem," Mary sighed as she recalled her other Pokemon. "Smart move, bringing Bug-type Pokemon in here."

Beedrill let out a triumphant cry when he saw his opponent fall, and he flew back over to Jaeshan before coming to land on the ground. His whole body seemed to hurt at the same time and he wanted nothing more than to rest. "Good battle," Jaeshan said, also recalling his Pokemon. "You fought well."

"What do you expect from someone who got their training from Erika?" Mary replied with a wink. "Now if you'll follow me, I'll take you to the Gym Leader." Jaeshan chuckled and followed the girl through a large, flower-adorned arch and they came upon a room much like the one they'd just battled in. This one had a wide open, grassy floor with white lines painted on the sides - this appeared to be the official battlefield. There was a small tea party going on, and Jaeshan could see that all the participants were young ladies. "Lady Erika, I don't mean to interrupt, but there is a challenger here to see you."

The chatter of the party came to an end as one of the figures rose. Her shoulder-length black hair was held back by a headband, and she wore a lovely golden-yellow kimono adorned with red and orange flower and leaf patterns. She stepped down onto the battlefield, and smiled over at Jaeshan, who couldn't help but notice that she was incredibly pretty.

"Greetings," she said, giving a slight bow. "I am Erika of the Celadon City gym, and as such am obligated to accept your challenge."

Kasiya listened to both Kilik and Rowan attentively, feeling her excitement draining away as though someone had pulled a plug in her stomach. Even still, she understood Rowan's reasonings for not just up and giving them their Piplup and Chimchar, as no, neither of them were rookie trainers, not even in the slightest. She looked over at Kilik, who'd slumped to the floor next to her and she put a hand on his shoulder to try and reassure him, even though she couldn't even manage to mask her own disappointment.

She cleared her throat and tucked a loose lock of hair behind her ear. "Oh, well, that's perfectly understandable," she said, trying to remain polite even though she was afraid she might cry at any second. "It m-makes perfect sense, of course." Her lower lip trembled and she bit down on it gently, now looking at the floor as well. "I suppose we should go... Thank you for your t-time, P-professor."

When Kas started to cry, Kilik stood up. "Y'know Prof," Kilik said, putting his hands on Kasiya's shoulders and turning her towards the door, "We traveled a long way to get these Pokemon and now you don't want to give them to us? After we saved you from Team Rocket? We sure went through a lot of crap just to be set up with disappointment. And now," he looked down at Kas, "You made a girl cry! C'mon Kas, let's go. We're clearly not wanted here," he started to walk towards the door, "Let's go buy some publications by Professor Birch."

Jeez! Kilik thought as he had his back turned to the Professor, Robin, and the man in the hat. Maybe I should've taken acting in school. He looked up at the ceiling and patted the crying girl's shoulder. If this doesn't make him give us those Pokemon, then Rowan really is a jerk. After all, that was all he had. Kilik didn't want to act like a little kid who didn't get his way, but sometimes that's the route you have to take. Especially when you travel hundreds of miles from home for no reason.

After about two hours of Surfing, Sharpedo was getting rather tired and sluggish. Mazarin was free to just laze on the back of the shark, but after realizing that his Pokemon needed to rest, the boy sat up. "Alright Sharpedo! You did great!" Mazarin pulled out his PokeNav and sprang up the world map. "Whoooooa! We're halfway there!" Sharepdo rolled his eyes and floated a bit on the ocean, letting the waves bob him up and down. Mazarin sent up Murkrow and let the bird latch itself onto his shoulders, Flying up into the air. After they were a fair distance above the water, he recalled his Sharpedo and clipped the ball back to his belt.

"Alright Murkrow, let's go!" he looked up at the bird as it started to pick up where Sharpedo had left off. Mazarin looked down at the water, wondering where all the Swimmer girls were. Normally they were all over the place! Then again, this was the middle of the ocean, between Hoenn and Johto. The water could get choppy and unsafe for Swimmer girls, but that'd be the perfect chance for him to rescue one and get a reward! "Sure hope there's a lot of sporty chicks at this Pokethlon!" he laughed, clenching his fist. "Oh baby!"

When Kasiya started to cry Rowan did feel a little bad, still there wasn't much he could do about it, he was all ready going to get into enough trouble with Robin. Still these were the kids who did help him out at the festival, they did deserve some kind of reward, maybe not a starting pokemon but perhaps something else? Though with the dark haired boy acting like such a brat Rowan was a bit less inclined to give them something.

As Rowan was thinking Ampersand pushed himself off the wall he was resting on and moved to stand in between them a small smirk on his face. " Don't cry there missie, and boy you should stop acting like a brat. I have a compromise that I think should work out for both sides yah hear?" He paused looking at both sides to see if each was listening before continuing. "Now look here, Professor Rowan can't just give you a pokemon that wouldn't be right. You guys, from what I can remember helped him out at the festival didn't you? Well how about this, y'all should take a walk in the forest and maybe you will run across one of the starters, if they take a shine to you I am sure they would just not accept any other trainers and Rowan would be forced to give them to you? He wouldn't have any other choice yeah?"

Listening to Ampersands compromise Rowan thought for a second before stating in a serious voice. "I don't think that would work, I am very busy and its almost time for me to let the pokemon out for a bit of exercise. You guys can stay here as long as you like but I do have to get back to work." That being said Rowan went back inside and to a different part of his lab. So one of them wanted a Piplup huh? Well maybe this was a way to unload 'that one' onto someone other then him. A small smile was on his face as he released a certain Piplup and a Chimchar into the back telling them that they could run around for a bit.

Back with Kilik and Kasiya, Ampersand grinned at them and tipped his hat. "Well you heard the man, he can't give you a pokemon but how about you take a walk around the grounds. It really is nice here and you might run into all kinds of pokemon here. It would be a good way to fill up your pokedex at least."

Meanwhile with Robin, the redheaded girl had been forced to set Ace down seeing that he really did not want to be held by her. Still the Chimchar was leading her to somewhere in the forest and she didn't really mind. Instead she just looked around and chattered more then a Chatot. "Wow this is where you lived its pretty here! I bet you went on all sorts of adventures didn't you? I sure would have!"

Ace had really tuned her out and was just leading her, the long way, to where he had ditched Luffy in the tender loving care of the ghost pokemon. Sure he might be his teammate now but that didn't mean he had to be nice to him. Yawning Ace looked around sensing that they were getting closer to their destination.

It seemed like all of a sudden Robin felt a chill run down her spine as she looked around the forest. It was getting darker even in the middle of the day and was that cackling that she heard? Frowning Robin rubbed her arms with her hands to push the chill away as she followed Ace. What was Luffy doing in a place like this? She was about to find out as she stepped into a clearing only to find her friend barely standing and doing his best to fend off a horde of various ghost pokemon. "LUFFY!"

Obligated? Jaeshan thought, but decided not to question it. "Thank you, Lady Erika," he said, returning her polite bow. "I'm Jaeshan Devereaux, from Littleroot Town in Hoenn and I've been looking forward to challenging you for some time now," he added. It was quite the true statement, as he had waited for this day since long before Blaziken had even hatched from the egg Keegan had given him.

He glanced over at the sidelines as a pretty girl with bluish-green hair had taken up position in the referee's box and was waiting for both trainers to be ready. Jaeshan took a deep breath and closed his eyes, feeling the usual pre-battle adrenaline rush pumping through his veins. Yes, he was ready!
=-=-=-=-=

She glanced over at Jaeshan, who nodded to show he was ready, and she smiled at him. "All right, this is an official match between Lady Erika of Celadon Gym, and Jaeshan Devereaux of Littleroot Town, Hoenn! This will be a single style battle, with no time limit. Each combatant allowed the use of three Pokemon. When all three of one trainer's Pokemon is rendered unable to battle, the match will end! If, by chance, the challenger is able to defeat the gym leader, he will be rewarded with the Celadon City's coveted Rainbow Badge, as well as a cash prize and our Gym's signature TM! Trainers, whenever you're ready!"

A pleasant smile was on Erika's face as she listened to the referee state the rules of the battle, and she could tell by the look on her challenger's face that she was in for quite a match. "I do wish you good luck, Mr Devereaux," she called, taking a Pokeball from the folds of her kimono. "I shall begin with a Pokemon I have trusted for years, Victreebel." With a graceful throw, the Flycatcher Pokemon was released onto the battlefield, emitting an excited screech as it did so.
=-=-=-=-=

Real tears of frustration and disappointment had formed in the corners of Kasiya's eyes, and they only intensified with Kilik's little speech. Of course, she had no idea he was acting and believed every word he said. At least Professor Oak is nicer, she thought, suddenly wishing she were back in his lab instead of Rowan's. But then, that familiar man with the hat had started to speak, and both she and Kilik turned to look at him, intrigued. He brought up very valid points, and as she looked back over at Rowan, she was sure he was still going to say no. Yet, something about his tone of voice practically gave him away, and she smiled, wiping her eyes with the back of her gloved hand. "You hear that, Kilik?" she said, her voice still a little choked up. "We can go walk in the grounds and meet some new Pokemon!"

She wasn't even entirely sure how this had happened, but she grabbed Kilik by the hand and pulled him towards the same side door Robin had gone out only moments ago, no longer caring about the difference in height between them. Though it was a little unconventional, it was still awesome! She and Kilik were getting the Pokemon they wanted, and she made a mental note to thank Professor Rowan afterwards. He really is a cool guy afterwards, she thought, laughing out loud as the two of them entered the grounds. Where are you, little Piplup? It's time to meet your new trainer!

Brat? Kilik raised an eyebrow at Ampersand's description of him. Yet before he could say anything back, he was suddenly dragged off by Kasiya to go get their Pokemon. So Rowan was going to turn the other cheek and let them go get their Pokemon, huh? Maybe he wasn't too bad of a guy after all. Kilik tapped his foot and looked around the grounds. There were tons of Pokemon he'd never seen before. Yet he didn't exactly care about those. No, the only Pokemon he wanted to find was that Chimchar! He ran out into the grass and scared off a few Starly and Bidoof, looking around for any hint of orange.

"Where could that little scamp be?" He asked out loud, looking in all directions. There was a group of orange Pokemon off in the distance, but his Pokedex scanned them as Buizel - not even close. No, these were Water-type Pokemon and not what he was looking for at all. "Crap!" he kicked the dirt and saw a blue Pokemon chasing after something in the grass. That was Piplup! "Hey Kas, this way! I found your Piplup!" He started running towards them, hastily stuffing his PokeDex back into his pocket. He nearly tripped over a Geodude that had made it's way onto the grounds. "Gah! Those are here?" he groaned, regaining his balance as he ran.

He peered into the grass and saw Piplup sitting with Chimchar standing, protectively, in front of him. "Hi...little friend." Kilik reached out a hand to touch the Fire-type, but in an act of defense, Chimchar lashed out and grabbed the trainer's hand, using it to pull him down onto the ground face first and scattering up his head and down to the middle of his back, standing triumphant over his felled foe! Nobody goes after his friend Piplup so forcefully! Kilik groaned in the dirt and brought his head up to rest on his chin. Chimchar hopped off, and looked at the trainer. Surely he wasn't so weak as to be defeated so easily! The monkey crossed his arms and tilted his head. Odd human. Kilik sat up and looked over at the Fire-type.

"Hey, chill! I just wanted to play! Y'know," he reached out and poked the Chimchar in the chest, "Play." The moment his finger came into contact, Chimchar glared up at him. But he didn't attack this time. Perhaps this human could be trusted...With a smile, he backed off a little, extending a hand toward Piplup as if to welcome the trainer. Kilik stood up and looked over at Kasiya. "And this is my friend. I'd protect her just like you protected your friend, Chimchar. We got something in common!" The boy laughed, and the Chimchar couldn't help but join in.

Not even thinking of the consequences or even what could happen to her if she ran into a group of angry and vengeful ghost pokemon Robin dashed over to her fallen friend. "Luffy! Hang in there buddy! Ace and I are gunna get you outta here!" Robin looked over at her injured friend. "Well, at least they beat the fat out of you." She joked, Luffy was a lot slimmer now, maybe not to his perfect form but he no longer looked like a blimp. Picking Luffy up the two of them did some careful adjusting and soon Luffy was hanging on Robins back, standing up she looked over at the group of ghosts coming at them. "You guys think you can just hurt my friend!" She yelled at them a determined look on her face.

Ace watched Robin rush over to the Ambipom and pick him up. She wasn't exactly the brightest trainer around but she really did seem to care about her pokemon. Watching her yell at the ghost pokemon though caused Ace to rethink his initial thought on not helping her out. She called him her friend? They weren't trainer and pokemon? Frowning he watched her stare down the ghost pokemon with out a hint of fear on her face.

Ghost pokemon weren't known for being nice and these ones were no different. Robin herself didn't stand a chance against them but she held her ground as the shock of a Night Shade attack hit her. Like Luffy she wasn't going to give up until her friend was out of there! Pushing past the pain Robin was doing her best to get out of there. She needed to get Luffy to Professor Rowans lab and she didn't have time to fight these stupid ghosts! "Get out of my way!" She yelled as she did her best to run over in the direction that she had come from. Behind her a Haunter reached one of its hands back ready to strike the fleeing girl only to be stopped by a wave of flames.

Landing down behind Robin, Ace stared down at the ghost pokemon with a determined look on his face. This girl really did care about her pokemon, no her friends, she cared about her friends more then anything. As Ace had watched Robin take hit after hit from the ghost pokemon witnessing her and Luffy's bond. Ace realized that that was what he wanted, he wanted a bond with a friend like that, someone would risk everything for and they would risk everything for him. Looking back at Robin the two of them shared a look and Ace felt the bond of friendship form between them. Looking back at the ghost pokemon Ace grinned, he would hold them back for Robin and Luffy no problem.

"Haha! Thank you Ace!" Robins grin nearly split her face before she took off into the forest doing her best to make it back to the lab with Luffy on her back. Behind her Ace did his best to give her directions and hold back the horde of angry ghost pokemon. It was a good thing he was such an old hat at fighting these ghosts.

Kasiya's spirits were once again soaring now that she and Kilik were out in the laboratory's grounds, searching out their highly anticipated Pokemon. Like Kilik, she had her PokeDex out and was busily scanning every Pokemon she came across. There were tons of Pokemon Kasiya had never seen before - so many, she could barely count them all: Bidoof, Starly, Buizel, Budew, Burmy and Wormadam of varying colours, and there were also several tiny Bug-type Pokemon the 'Dex identified as Kricketot. Kasiya had been keeping her eyes peeled for a blue, penguin-shaped Pokemon, but her luck seemed to be a bit on the low side today. It wasn't until she heard Kilik call out to her that she actually believed that the two wanted Pokemon were even out here, and she carefully stepped over the Geodude Kilik had nearly tripped over as the two Pokemon came into view. The little orange Chimchar was standing protectively in front of Piplup, and as soon as Kilik made a move, it sprang into action. Kasiya couldn't help but giggle at the sight of the Chimchar dancing on Kilik's back, though it appeared to stand down once Kilik started talking to it.

Deciding to follow Kilik's lead, Kasiya knelt down on the ground beside him. "Yes, we're all friends here," she said, giggling a little now that Kilik had managed to break the proverbial ice.

The Piplup, however, didn't appear to be as easily swayed as his fiery little friend. Head held high, he puffed up his little chest and walked right up to Kasiya. "Pip!" he shouted, pointing his little flipper at her and shaking it. "Pip lup, pip!"

"Whoa, quite the attitude on this little guy," she observed, now pointing her PokeDex at Piplup, who jumped a little at the sound of the computerized voice.

"The Penguin Pokemon, Piplup. They live in colonies along northern shores, and are very skilled swimmers. Its thick down protects it from the cold as it dives into frigid waters to hunt, where it can stay submerged for up to ten minutes. Piplup are very proud, and don't like to be taken care of. They often have a difficult time bonding with their trainers because of this."

"See, even the PokeDex agrees with me on your attitude," Kasiya said, closing the device and putting it back into her pocket. "Even still, it's nice to meet you, Piplup," she said, removing her glove and gently taking the penguin's flipper in her hand. This gesture caught the prideful little flipper bird off guard, though the softness and warmth of the human's hand made him reluctant to pull away from her. So far, he'd been successful at giving the cold shoulder to every new trainer that came to get their first Pokemon from Professor Rowan, but he sensed there was something different about this girl. He glanced over at Chimchar, who seemed to be getting along with the tall black and yellow human, and sighed a bit before looking back up at the pretty human female in front of him. He couldn't quite describe it, but there was a look in her eyes that made him feel comfortable. He shuffled forward, stumbling a bit as he went along, but it didn't seem to bother him in the least.
=-=-=-=-=

Jaeshan was a little surprised to see the Victreebel released onto the field by Erika, and suddenly he wished he'd thought to bring his own Victreebel along for the battle. He was sure Victreebel would love it here in the giant greenhouse, with all these other Grass-type Pokemon to play with. But, Victreebel wasn't here; he was back with his other Pokemon at his parents' place, so that meant he'd have to go with someone else. "Thank you, Lady Erika," he called back, taking a Pokeball from his belt. "All right, Metang! You're up first," he said, knowing well that the Steel-type aspect of the Pokemon would make him immune to all the Poison-type attacks that would undoubtedly come his way. Metang appeared in a flash of light and a shower of gold and silver sparkles, looking eager for battle.

Since the trainers had already been given the signal to start, Jaeshan decided to make the first attack. "Metang, start with Bullet Punch," he said, knowing the attack was sure to strike first. Metang made a slight humming noise, and he nodded before shooting forward, his arm glowing with a metallic sheen. Jaeshan nodded with approval; it seemed Metang was looking stronger and more confident every time they battled together.

Erika raised an eyebrow at the sight of the strangely-coloured Metang that had been sent out to battle her Victreebel, for she had seen a Metang once before, but it had been a silvery-blue colour. She wasn't surprised to hear him issue the first command, and she giggled, and looked over at the tall blonde. "Haven't you ever heard of 'Ladies first?" She looked towards her Pokemon, still smiling. "Victreebel, Sucker Punch, please," she said, her tone making her command sound more like a humble request.

The Flycatcher Pokemon let out a shriek and hopped up and down, the long vine-like appendage that served as his 'tail' lashing about somewhat violently. He waited until the Metang was within striking distance before he swung his tail-vine upward in a sweeping motion, a dark aura covering it as it slammed into the underside of the Iron Claw Pokemon. Victreebel was still subjected to the oncoming Bullet Punch from Metang and he hopped back a bit, still shrieking away. "If you'll allow me to explain," Erika said politely, "Sucker Punch is a move that allows the user to go first, so long as the opponent is using an attack move; otherwise, it fails."

Kilik looked over at Kas and snapped his fingers. She had a good idea! Before doing anything, though, he pulled out his PokeDex and held it up to the Chimchar, scanning it. The gruff computerized voice then said: "Chimchar, the Chimp Pokemon. The gas in its belly burns from its rear end. Even rain can't extinguish this fire. The flame burns weakly when this Pokemon is sick. It agilely climbs sheer cliffs to live atop craggy mountains. When it's sleeping, it puts the fire on its tail out. Chimchar battle for the sake of becoming the alpha chimp, and when feeling threatened, is easily angered." Kilik tucked the device away. "That must've been why you attacked so suddenly!" Kilik laughed, holding out his hand for Chimchar to take.

The monkey looked up at the trainer, and cautiously reached out and took the boy's hand. He was very kind, and obviously meant them no harm. He looked over at Piplup and nodded. There was no need to be wary of these humans. Like Rowan, Kilik and Kasiya loved Pokemon and as such, were okay in his book. Kilik pulled his hand free and extended his arm like a bridge. "Hop on up, Chimchar!" he laughed. The boy's hand was a fist, and that immediately threw Chimchar into defensive mode. The fire on his tail flared up. However, when he started laughing, the flames subsided and he looked at the boy very curiously. "Char char!" he nodded, running up Kilik's arm like a branch, sitting atop the boy's shoulder. He was very tall! He felt like he was in a tree! He waved down at Piplup, as if to taunt the bird. "Look how high I am!" was the point he was getting across.

"Well," Kilik said, looking over from his new friend to Kasiya, "That wasn't too hard. Sure hope all the Pokemon in Sinnoh are this easy to charm over." He felt a sharp pain in the back of his head and Chimchar huffed, looking away. Easy? Not this Chimchar! The monkey crossed his arms and looked over at Kilik, who was rubbing the spot where the chimp had hit him. He started to laugh at the boy's expense. "Grah," Kilik mumbled, "Feisty...little guy, isn't he?"

"Oui, oui!" Sasha said, linking her arm with Keegan. After all, it was a big city and she didn't want to get lost. "Let us go!" She pointed forward with her free hand, and the two departed to the square.

While they walked, Sasha couldn't help but take in the sights. All the billboards, advertisements, skyscrapers, restaurants, she wanted to be in them all. She wanted to be known across the world, to be front in line in all the best clubs, to be fought over whenever she walks by restaurants, to have her own posse of servants follow her around wherever she went.

"Ms. Beauchamp!" they would cry. "Come eat here! We've got the freshest seafood dishes!"
"Mademoiselle Beauchamp!" a competitor would object. "We've got the best Italian cuisine, topped with the finest mushrooms!"

"Ho-ho-ho-ho!" Sasha laughed, placing a hand over her mouth as she daydreamed. "Hoooooh, boy." she said, wiping a bit of dribble from her lower lip. She couldn't think about mushroom dishes without drooling. "Z'hat will be me someday." Sasha said to herself.

Soon enough, they reached the square those trainers were talking about. There was a large crowd, circled around what Sasha could only assume was a fight. Well, she assumed because of the Skarmory flying above. There were too many people in the way to see the other Pokemon, or the trainers. Unlinking her arm from her companion, Sasha cracked her fingers. "Watch the master." After a soft clearing of her throat, Sasha walked up to the outer most boy. "Oh my, what iz going on here?" She placed a finger on her lip, and bobbed her waist back and forth as she pretended to ponder what was going on in the center.

"Oh, excuse me!" said the boy, moving out of the way. Sasha could feel his eyes on her back as she walked past. She continued this until the crowd parted, and Mademoiselle Beauchamp, the pink-haired prophet, motioned for her friend to follow.

The drowzy corphish disappeared into the pokeball in a flash. The vibrating pokeball landed softly in the sand. Meanwhile Ardah retaliated against the griping ruffian with another confusion attack the energy battering the pokemon and sending it reeling back. Kalikea fend the lobster seafoam with a bubble attack, but the corphish stubbornly gripped on.

"CORRRR!" The ruffian exclaimed though as the other corphish battered and confused from psychic energy clamped its claw down on its tail. It released the coral pokemon and began to scuffle with its friend. Ardah and Kalikea fell back as the batter each other more and more. The confused corphish gained its senses only to become enraged at its friend attack and retaliate in kind. Sand and foam flew about in every direction.

Crush stepped forward picking up the pokeball and the corphish within that had stopped struggling. "I think I'll call you Agger, little cuz. Hope you like the name."

He set his new partner on his belt, and drew Ardah's and Kali's. "Time for a break, let those to settle their own dispute."

The two returned into their balls in flashes of light, and the two corphish battled continued their battle upon the shore.

Crush turned back to the kid. "Howzit brah. Sorry that took so long." He crouched down and looked at the Krabby the boy shelter still. "This little brah saved your shell, little dude. What do you say to going with?"

"K-ie, k-ie," The krabby foamed in excitement.

Crush looked at the kid who stared at him in awe. And surprise as the Sinnoh surfer drew out a pokeball and handed him. "Don't worry brah, I can't good conscious leave you to run about trying to save pokemon without a partner. And this little dude seems to be up for it."

The kid beamed as he took the pokeball in hand and threw it at the krabby. The pokemon disappeared into the pokeball and shortly after dinged as the krabby was caught.

"Wow. I've got pokemon." The kid said in awe.

"Yeah, little brah, you do. Best take care of it," He said as he stood up and messing the kids hair. "Names Crush by the way."

"I will! I'm Tailor." He smiled.

"Nice to meet you, little brah. So y'know where a pokemon center is around here?" Crush asked as he looked about.

"Oh yeah," Tailor pointed south. "Rustboro city is just a bit that way. I live there. I can show you to the pokemon center."

"Righteous news, little brah," Crush smiled. "Lead the way."

Venerax chuckled. "You should have saw him last night when we battled. He was wound tighter than a clock." He absently rolled the coin along his knuckles. "He was after some pokemon that I apparently scared off. He was a lot easier to handle than the beedrill I had ran into not long before."

"So where are you from, Karrigan?" He leaned back in the chair, hanging his hat from its corner.
