I'm finally getting around to making myself a clean, professional-looking gallery online to use as a portfolio. Only problem is, I'm a terrible judge of what pictures of mine are good to include in something like this, and which aren't. SO! I felt really bad for Sayda when I read her journal entry about commissions. I've only ever had one artist cancel a commission for that reason before - they were a bit standoffish about it, but I think by that stage they were so overwhelmed by obligations and lack of time that it was somewhat of a marvel she said anything at all.
Anetra: I'm sure you know That woman... is spectacular - I also really like your recent Pirate series, as well as Necromancer and Dart in, Dart out. You have a lot of great pieces in your gallery, though, so I could sit here forever naming the ones I like - I'm sure that would not help you come to any sort of decision (;
Meanwhile, I have so many questions for the people who posted character-related information, but I'm going to post them in the new Character Storytelling thread - you know, help get the thread off the ground and all that lark (:

Audley Anetra: I'm sure you know That woman... is spectacular Thank you smile I can't really include that one though. It borders on photo manipulation, and was sort of... well, "cheating". I didn't do it so much for artistic merit as much as my NWN character just needed a kickass portrait, so the method didn't really matter.

Out of all those Holiday Commissions that opened up, the only person I'd ordered from was Nashya. But then again, I did order $160 worth of art from her >.<;
It occured to me the other day that, if she WAS scamming people (which I totally don't think she is, but just go with me here), what a horrendous success it would have been. I mean, even just the fact that I would feel the need to specify that I don't think she was in this post... it just goes to show how well she would have pulled it off, had it been.
She said she'll be working commissions again soon, though ^_^ I'm very excited.

I saw Nashya had made a comment in Sayda's journal entry about commissions - she seems to be feeling a little bit overwhelmed by her offer at times, but she's so nice, I can't imagine she would do wrong by the people who commissioned her.
It must be hard. I can't say I know the reasons why all of the people who offered cheap commissions offered them, but a few of them seem to have done it out of desperation. That's a powerful motivator, but when you see the length of some work lists ... I can't imagine it.

Yeah I've been keeping up on Nashya's journal, both on LJ and dA since ordering the pics. I mean, don't get me wrong with that comment-- she seems totally nice and I believe she has every intention, and then some, of honoring those commissions.
It's just that it dawned (donned? hrm) on me the other day that IF.. well, you know.
The fact that everyone would be so quick to defend her and her disposition, should an accusation arise, would make it a filthy bleeding success if she had.

::nods:: Indeed. It would be a rather profitable scam, if it were one. Then again, artists have reputations, and good ones are hard to re-build if you do something bad in the community - I wouldn't think in this case you would have anything to worry about in terms of losing your dosh. The worst result would probably be that she'd cancel and refund you, but that isn't too terrible, really, just disappointing.

Yeah, Nashya's - in her situation - she's got to be able to make money off ehr art long-time. TO scam like that would ruin her reputtation in the future which is something that she can't risk doing .

School's hell >.<...and comcast internet service sucks. Sure it's fast...provided it stays on for more than two hours >.o
And my tablet is still out-of-commission crying

In a way I wish this guild wasn't public. Just yesterday i pmd a bunch of artists who i've had trades pending with for months. I took the time to make sure my pms were friendly and even said that if they wished to cancel it would be alright. They've been read and no reply.
I just think it'd be better if artists had a more public rating system so you could see what you were getting in before hand, i mean it doesn't take that long to type "sorry, but i need to cancel" you know? And alot of artists do this over and over again.
Anyway just needed to vent that out, and not pointing out anyone in paticular, just in general.
