whiporwill-o Namikikyo whiporwill-o Namikikyo whiporwill-o school was cancelled today due to snow. sad Mine too. I wouldn't be surprised if my school was cancelled tomorrow too.
But why so glum about it? You could use this for a day of rest or to get things done that you usually wouldn't have time to do. 3nodding You could make this day fun, Whip. i'm still in the 'first day of class' part. i still have 1 instructor that i haven't met. and the roads and bridges are frozen, no leaving the house, i've never driven in the snow or on icy roads before. sweatdrop Oh, I see. Neither have I, driven on icy roads and snow, that is.
What classes are you taking and are you excited? math 090 (yep, the bonehead math... i suck at numbers emo ) bio 103 + lab (the teacher has us terrified, telling us about people catching on fire and getting acid in their eyes and all sorts of horrible things crying ) eng 101 (sounds boring, but i've always been good at research papers and reports, so possibly an easy A *fingers crossed*) and cis something or other - microsoft applications and whatnot (haven't been yet, so i don't know what to expect) i'm kind of excited, but mostly wishing that it was already over, lol. i was never really one for schooling, i always wanted to learn what i wanted to learn, but i'm sure i'll do fine. 3nodding Same here, I'm awesome at learning the things I love. But if you shove me in a Math room and ask me to work out the simplest equation, I'm in for an epic fail.
I suck at math too, if you couldn't tell from my previous statement. I'm in Algebra 2 and they handed me a paper the other day with a bunch equations that didn't make sense at all. I looked up at the teacher and asked "Since when did they start putting letters in it?"
Lab is always fun and English too, but I usually have the opposite problem then most students in my school. Apparently I'm killer at describing things and different writting styles, but I suck at paragraphs, fitting it all together and make long run-on sentances. CIS also sounds cool, computers are the thing this year. *Thumbs up*
I'm sure you'll do fine too. Before you know it, school will already be over. 3nodding

Really?! Oh, that's awesome. I go there every year during the summer to stay at a beach house for a week. It's where I collect most of my shells. Quote: It's famous for it's cheese and icecream. Only the most deliscious things on earth. 4laugh Quote: Yeah. It's pretty fun. Fishing off the jetties is more my speed though. I've never done that before. Then again, fishes are only fun to look at for me. sweatdrop I'm even afraid of baiting the hook.

Before you know it, school will already be over. 3nodding the only thing that bothers me about english is that we aren't allowed to do any work at home or in the campus library, it all has to be done in class. that strikes me as... odd. lol, we had to take a placement test in 090 and i swear i could feel my eyes glaze over just from glancing at the equations. i told the teacher to not even waste his time looking it over, i wasn't going anywhere, lol. i'm still emotionally scarred from trying to learn long-division in 3rd grade. sweatdrop

patch99329 We have...a moderate climate? and tea with milk and sugar ninja Moderate? You guys had a glorious late April / early May last year. And I heard that's how the rest of your summer was. We just had rain for the rest of the summer. And a summer in November that turned into a cold snap right at the end. gonk

TeaDidikai maenad nuri More of y'all should move to Central Illinois. Come to Normal! We have the lowest unemployment rate in the state! What do they call residents of Normal? Normalites, mostly. I think people who live in Bloomington should be called the Abnormals.

People at my school are getting rather annoyed that the semester 1 exams aren't being cancelled because of weather. This is a silly thing to get annoyed about.

patch99329 Everyone should move to the UK! I was about to say that I was worried about how much it's becoming a police state, but then I remembered that I live in the United States. It would be a lateral move.

I hate winter. Especially winter in middle and west Tennessee. All cold, lots of ice and no snow. Well, it snowed, or rather flurried, a little here today, but not much at all. East Tennessee gets all the good snow. I don't like the cold, but I love the snow. Winter time makes me easily irritated and sluggish.

Teachers worry more about me being able to use the process and showing my work than being able to do the arithmetic without screwing up. *shrug*

Sorry Nuri, I need my Ocean. Calixti Yeah, not a fan of most internet culture. IMO, being online doesn't make the communication any less 'real'--there's still another person on the other end. People using relative anonymity and lack of accountability to be jerks piss me off. Plus, internet communication? Far easier and less likely to trigger my anxiety. Provided I'm not the one initiating conversations, at least. *shrug* It's real communication, just not as encompassing as in person. I can't communicate online. I rely on scent and motion cues, which I don't get online. I do sympathize with the anxiety issues. I would not suggest that people lose their comfortable means of communication. Patch, I could not bring my sword with me, so I cannot live there. There are other reasons, but none are really polite other than my love of my own Homeland.
