-Rules-
Rule 1: Use proper English.
Speaking with good English will make your opinions and ideas easier for people to interpret. It’s fine to misspell something here and there; we all do. The Cult tries to pride itself on having a certain level of literacy, so work on it if yours is bad.
Rule 2: Don’t be a d**k. Don’t make snide comments about other members. So someone else may not have beaten a game as fast, or to the same degree as you. Someone may have never heard of a game. That doesn’t mean you need to be an a*****e to them.
Rule 3: Do not make repeat threads.
When making a new thread, look on the front page to see if there is a thread on the front page already committed to the topic. If there is a thread with the same topic, post in it, rather than making a new one. If the two topics are on the same game, but they’re both asking about totally different things, then it is acceptable.
Example: If you want to discuss the Zelda storyline, look at the topics on the front page and if there is one about Zelda, but it’s about how girly Link looks in that skirt, then you can make a new topic. If there is one about the Zelda storyline, post your opinions in that thread.
Rule 4: Use the subforums.
Attempt to keep your topics in the correct section of the Cult. The subforums are there to organize, so it’s easier for everyone to get around. Do not ignore them. If you aren’t sure where a thread should go, consult the sections below. If you’re still unsure, please contact a mod or use your best judgment.
Rule 5: No “Come here for help!” or " Character Vs. Character" threads.
Do not make a thread to try to help people about a game. If you know a lot about a game, great. Post in “I need help!” threads when you see them around and help people. Do not make a thread just trying to give out your knowledge on a game.
Also, do not make threads asking which of two (or more) characters would win in a fight. That is for the VGD, and if you want to talk about that, you can find it here.
Rule 6: Do not speak badly of Microsoft, Sony, etc.
Do not diss, bag, piss, or s**t on Sony or Microsoft just because you’re a Nintendo loyalist. Sure, they will come up in discussions sometimes, and a lot of you may not like them. I don’t expect everyone to love all companies equally; just don’t be a douchebag about it.
Rule 7: Do not bump.
If you’ve made a thread and it’s gone unnoticed, that’s unfortunate, but we do not condone of bumping threads in the Cult. If a thread has been pushed down, its time has passed.
Rule 8: Do not double post.
Here in the Cult, double posting is considered posting twice in a row. If you are the last post in a thread, and you have something else to add, just go edit your last post, and then add that information to it. You can even use an edit tag to show that it was added later.
Rule 9: Do not necro topics.
Necroing is the act of going in, finding an old topic, and posting in it. If a topic is not on the front page, do not post in it. It’s as simple as that. If it’s that far gone, the discussion on it has died, and it is no longer of enough relevance or interest.
Rule 10: Consult the captain for important things.
Consult Meta_Fish via PM and be granted permission before making “official threads” or posting advertisement for anything at all.
Rule 11: Never ask for ratings in the avatar arena, unless you post it in the Spam Can thread.
It's annoying as hell. You're not going to win anyway, so don't bother. If you want help not winning, go elsewhere. These kinds of threads would just needlessly clutter the Social Room. Your topic will be locked. The only place that you are allowed to advertise for the Avatar Arena is the Spam Can.
You may be banned for breaking any for these rules, at any time.
Copied and pasted from the rules thread, it goes to Ribbin for things he has been doing recently, Kuzo for things he has been doing recently, and various other people. I highlighted the one I am talking about.
