Mayumi Tenshi Glass Moon -claps-
Remind me never to get into an argument with Spider....... sweatdrop *Reminds you to never get in an arguement with Spider.* Actually just stay out of political discussion with him. There are a number of things that are "safe" to discuss with Oni.

Mayumi Tenshi Spider_Jerusalem Actually I keep those bookmarked because it's a very common occurance that I would need them in the Politics forum. Of course I'm currently on hiatus due to the forum being general s**t. No kidding. I went there once, nothing but right-wingers. I just LOL'd all over the floor. I haven't been in ED-P for a while, and I'll laugh my a** off if the right is starting to take over - a forum that has been primarily left-wing previously. As for gay marriage, I don't see the problem with subsituting the word "civil union" for "marriage". In the long run, the gay community would have a whole lot less resistance towards it if they accepted that as a whole.

MahouTragicQueen The verse in the Bible against homosexuality is from the same book that says woman need to sacrifice a dove after every time they have their period. It also specifically refers to male/male homosexualtiy. It says that it's a sin for men and woman to have sex with animals right after it, so clearly it's not using "men" to refer to all people. I find those those old law book intresting, but there are some that I find the law itself to be immoral. For example in Detormony, if a virgin bethrothed to be married is raped in the city, she should be stoned to death because apparently she didn't yell for help so she must have been enjoying it or something. What if she yelled for help but no one heard her? Or someone heard her but didn't get there until after she was raped? Or the rapist could have gaged her or maybe she was too afarid to yell for help. This is a good part of why I am quite solidly agnostic and leaning towards Deism.Phoenix315 Actually just stay out of political discussion with him. There are a number of things that are "safe" to discuss with Oni. Well, I think that I'm very safe to discuss politics with so long as you have your facts right. In fact that's the only time I'm "dangerous" in any topic. When someone doesn't have their facts right. Hah, haven't heard that name in quite some time.

I certainly haven't read the whole Bible, but I think the old law books are funny. One of my favorties is: Deuteronomy 23:1 Any man who has been emascualted by crushing or cutting may not enter the house of the Lord.

MTQ's right. I haven't even read the entire bible.
The book of Deuteronomy confuses me greatly. In our society people would be in an uproar if Deuteronomy were the law of the United States.
Our ancestors would be confused at our selfishness and us by their violence. confused

See.. I just think that if you're separating something just for same-sex couples, i.e. Civil unions, why not just give them a marriage. It sounded a bit like discrimination... segregating the "colored" people into different schools, same-sex couples getting civil unions.
If Civil unions allowed the couples to be recognized as "married" and to be together as a family even better.
But even then they don't get the federal protections from the government that married couples and their families get. So if they gave them those rights then it'd be a bit more acceptable.
Also... it's such an inconvenience to travel to wherever the Civil Unions are issued to get them. Even then, they'd have to stay in that state to be recognized as a civil union. If they wanted to dissolve the civil union they have to have been residents in the state and be in the state that issued them the civil union to have it dissolved.

One thing I found out about the laws in the Bible.. one of them said some thing like, "If woman had a husband and by some reason the husband died. Then the brother of the husband must marry the widowed woman and give her children."
I think there was also the one when a man and a woman married and if the woman was not a virgin, she'd be executed.

Spider_Jerusalem Well, I think that I'm very safe to discuss politics with so long as you have your facts right. In fact that's the only time I'm "dangerous" in any topic. When someone doesn't have their facts right. Hah, haven't heard that name in quite some time. xp Possibly true. I'm just harmless overall, so no worries there. biggrin
Heh, I tend to think about people as their "main" accounts and refer to them as such sometimes. sweatdrop
