Kicking as hard as he could, Jason head broke the surface once more, only to be hit by a breaking wave. For a few moments he couldn't even tell which way was up and which was down. Eventually he foundered on the surface, coughing up salty water as he looked for the location of the portal.

Kostya pushed his friend up onto dry ground, so she could enter the portal first. He continued to growl, climbing up himself, Syntax's glow stuttering out as the weapon shifted back into an innocuous tamagotchi. His eyes looked beyond Mimsy, his teeth bared like a feral creature. He wiped water from his face with a sopping wet sleeve, tossing his head like an animal to shake the water off.
Words were a little beyond him, right now, but he hunched down to his haunches to offer Mimsy a hand, heartbeat thudding in his neck, his hands, his heart. Konstantin heaved from the exertion he'd put forth to drag Mimsy back to safety, lost in the thrums of fight or flight, fight or flight, fight or flight.
"пришло время идти домой*," he said, bland and disconnected, guiding her towards the light. *it is time to go home.hp// 31 - 6 = 25 roll// 3 of 3 carrying// mimsy

The cold was starting to seep into his bones, and he was sure he had never felt this cold before. Was it hypothermia? No, but it felt pretty dam close. Thankfully the portal was only a few meters away, and with a few more kicks, Jason grabbed onto the edge and hoisted himself up, turning around to gaze across the stormy ocean.
He didn't want to leave, not just yet.

Clerise slid off of Raeg, deliberately so, and sunk back into the waters, shaking her head ferociously as the shock to her system hit again. "********, this s**t is cold." She clung to the warmth of Raeg's blade, to the energy thrumming in his metal.
She kept their fingers twined even as she started to doggedly paddle, kicking her shoes off beneath the waves. "You won't see it again," Clerise replied emphatically-- and she meant it, because rock beats scissor and scissor beats paper and Clarice beat the demons lurking inside of Clerise's head. That's just how the world worked.
So Clerise helped kick them to the portal, and helped Clarice out of the water, and the shadows lurked and screamed, but they didn't win. They wouldn't win any more, not as long as Clarice was around to shine like the sun to chase them away.

For those sinking, this was perhaps the end. After all the struggling, spiders and skeletons and apparitions, and this is how things would end. They would simply drown.
As things turned darker, several might have felt a hand grab at them, a hand attached to the most ridiculous flotation device ever. Someone was shouting at them, perhaps encouragingly, others were reaching towards those sinking-
- And for those who were already there, well -
They were safe again.
The portal closed behind the last of the Hunters wordlessly, leaving noone behind. Maybe expect that one swimming spider, but that was another story for another time.
Blue-greys. The infinitely lukewarm sky of Deus Ex, forever swathed in grey clouds hung above them. Around them, the training fields. Grass, dirt, the echos of salt water, Hunters milling around, several calling for emergency, busy work, repetition almost to those who were veterans. They had survived. This process would be repeated.
For now, they lived another day.
And somewhere, in a certain Death lead's office, there was a singular heart beating off-sync, contained in a simple jar. Sealed over the jar was a simple Runic ward and then fine labelled print:
˙´å®† øƒ †˙´ ©®åˆ¬ . OOC AND THAT'S A WRAP! Hope you all had fun!As the cruise ship mission actually turned out to be quite a successful venture as several artifacts and if not artifacts, at least priceless pieces were encountered, the Hunters seem to be quite well off financially at least for a little longer.
