"Lava Plume, Lava Plume everywhere," Keegan grumbled breathlessly, sidestepping the last of the cascading flames and looking across the now heavily-scorched battlefield to see that Sheena had come out of the whole thing relatively unscathed, if not a bit winded. "Oh, Pan," the redhead sighed, smacking his forehead with his palm when he saw that the poor Grovyle hadn't been so lucky as he'd been situated much closer to the Camerupt. It seemed that every time the gecko came out of his PokeBall lately, he wound up getting completely burnt to a crisp by some kind of fire attack. He wouldn't get a whole lot of time to dwell on it, however, as no sooner had the two humans stopped to catch their breath and some of them recall their extra-crispy Pokemon did the Camerupt begin to charge, and after a moment of standing around and staring like an idiot, Keegan realized that Boris was charging directly at him. "Oh, you've got to be ******** kidding me," he groaned, backpedaling several steps before diving quickly to the right to avoid being trampled. The rampaging Boris wasn't done yet, the ground shaking with every step as he made a wide turn to go back the way he came, forcing Keegan to scramble along the ground in a real hurry lest he be reduced to a redheaded pancake. "Why does it feel like something is always trying to kill me!?" he shouted, half-question, half-statement. "Sheena! Recall him! NOW!"
Despite escaping the Lava Plume without so much as a small singe, Sheena had stopped and stared as her once cute, cuddly and normally very-passive Boris had gone off the deep end and was now trying to turn her dear Keegan into a bloody smear on the pavement. Her brain was telling her to do something, namely grab his PokeBall and call him back, but his evolution had been so sudden and unexpected, and the severe attitude change that went with it had caused her to become rooted to the spot by shock and fear. It didn't help that after his wide u-turn, the Camerupt was now charging toward her, and her blue eyes stared straight ahead at the stampeding Camerupt. "...Boris?" she whimpered.
"Oh, ******** it," Keegan grumbled, looking up from his position on the ground. "This just keeps getting better and better!" As much as the girl annoyed the absolute hell out of him, he wasn't about to let her get trampled by her own Pokemon. With quickness that surprised even him, he'd snatched up his Golduck's PokeBall and threw it out as far as he could. "Althena, Psychic!" he shouted. Honestly, Keegan wasn't sure why he called for that move exactly; having the Golduck blast Boris with water probably would have been enough. Althena's first thought was to try and stop the mighty Camerupt in its tracks, but she quickly decided that would be much too difficult to execute in a timely manner. A pinkish aura stretched out from the red gem in her forehead, and she raised her webbed hand, the same glow now surrounding the terrified Sheena. With a flick of her wrist, the girl was whisked to safety, and now, completely unfettered, the Camerupt continued his charge, snorting and bellowing all the way and occasionally shooting out bursts of flame from the mini-volcanoes on his back. Keegan scrambled to his feet and ran over to the pink-haired girl, sliding to a stop on the cracked ground in front of her. "Sheena, what the hell?" he shouted, grabbing her by the shoulders and shaking her. "What the hell were you doing, just standing there? He could have killed you! Are you really that stupid?!"
It wasn't until she felt herself being forcibly shaken that Sheena snapped out of it, Keegan's face coming into focus directly in front of hers. "I... I don't know," she whimpered, eyes quickly filling with tears. "I just got so scared, I..." the rest of her sentence fell into incoherence as she started to cry, her entire body shaking as it was wracked with sobs. ===== Something about the way the boy frowned helped to diffuse the situation further, and Miharu allowed herself to relax a little. Other people had emerged from their rooms and cabins now, and even if the dark-haired boy was actually an ax-crazy serial killer, it wasn't likely he'd try anything with all these people around. The mention of him going to do some training did cause a small pain to shoot right through her heart, and she couldn't help but wonder where Tingle and all the others were right now. Lily, Sparkle, Starrie... everyone... She felt the prickle of tears in the corners of her eyes but she blinked them away as she realized something - Leroy hadn't gotten all of her Pokemon, after all! She'd switched Aska for Tingle the day before her gym battle, hadn't she? The thought perked her up slightly, and for a quick moment, she actually smiled. "I think I know where that is," she said, nodding slowly. "I passed by a directory just a little ways back. Maybe I can show you?"
Still mentally scolding himself for his verbal blunder, it was very difficult for Damien not to notice the pained look that overcame the green-haired girl's face. For a second, she even looked like she was about to cry and Damien raised his hands in a defensive manner. He was even considering an apology when the girl smiled, just for a second. "Sure thing," he said, nodding quickly as he felt as though he'd just dodged somewhat of a bullet. "That is, if you don't mind. I'm sure I'll find it eventually, either way." They started down the hall, in the direction the girl had come from. Damien thought for a moment, realizing that the girl's name was the only thing Gastly hadn't been able to find out. "I didn't catch your name," he added as they walked. Very, very smooth, he was sure he could hear Gastly's voice taunting him from his PokeBall.
The girl looked up at the dark-haired boy and managed another quick smile. "I'm Miharu. And you are...?"
"Damien."

The kid gave a startled yell as Dante spoke to him. “You’re not a girl!”
“God damn it get me some damn scissors.” Dante muttered darkly under his breath. At least before people thought he was a guy most of the time. I hate my hair, I hate it so much. For the first time in his life Dante wished he looked more like his father, whoever that was. Sighing he glanced over at the kid, dark eyes irritated already. “No, you might want to get your eyes checked.”
“Um, right. Anyway! Your Dusclops promised me a battle! Then he disappeared, like he could escape me!” The kid scoffed his hands on his hips, clearly he had a high opinion of himself.
“Right, well. Seeing as I need to get on that boat over there I am afraid that will have to wait for another time.” Motioning over to a boat down the docks a bit.
“Yeah right! That boat doesn’t leave for another hour and a half! Plenty of time for a battle!” The kid ran back a few paces and held out a pokeball.
Dante just rolled his eyes and made an attempted at walking away, of course Kenny just grabbed him and pulled him right back into the proper battling distance. “I hate you.” Dante muttered giving his Dusclops a glare. “Ok fine, we can battle. Let’s not do it on the docks though right in front of the ticket stand though.” The irritated teen glanced over to the Dusclops to see if that was ok at least, the ghost pokemon just gave him a smug little look. “I hate you.” Was all he repeated as he headed off to a sort of side dock area. There seemed to be a few battles going on over there so it shouldn’t be too bad. “This good?” He asked turning around to face the eager brat that had followed him.
“Heck yeah! Now quit stallin’ our first battle is going to be amazing!” Without waiting for Dante to reply the kid tossed out his pokeball. If Dante was surprised by the pokemon then he was even more surprised by the bit of hail that hit him right in the face. “Yeah Snover go!” The kid at least seemed excited as his little white Christmas tree pokemon started to make it hail around beach.
“Oh this is nice.” Dante muttered sarcastically. He wasn’t the only one upset either. A few trainers were now glaring at the kid and his pokemon. Dante just gave them all a look and shrugged. “All right then.” He looked over at Kenny, who was also looking up at the sky. “Want back in your pokeball Kenny or are you fine?” The ghost just looked at him before reaching into the bag and letting himself back into his ball. “I wish I could escape the hail.” Dante muttered as he felt a particularly hard piece of ice hit him. Taking out the only other pokeball he had with him Dante wondered if it was a good idea to send Kali out in the middle of the ice storm. Dragons were weak to ice right? Dante was pretty sure they were. Still it wouldn’t exactly be fair to send Kenny out against the kid either. Dante cleared his conscious by figuring that Kali probably wouldn’t care and would be only too happy to be given the excuse to bite someone. Tossing out his pokeball Dante’s own pokemon appeared on the battlefield, angry and ready to go like always. “All right, let’s just get this done with.” Dante muttered.

Not two steps into Mt. Moon and Crenu found himself confronted with Zubat. Flying around the cave, screeching as they flew around the top of the cave that was the entrance to the mountain. It was daker it was outsde by far, but some well placed lights and natural pockets which the sun filtered in through kept it from being impossible to see. Crenu had never seen it himself, but he'd heard of other caves like the Rock Tunnel that were known for being pitch black inside. Luckily this wasn't one of them as he didn't have any pokemon that could use Flash. It wasn't just Zubat flying around though, there were other pokemon bringing the cave alive with their movements, mostly just noise but every now and again Crenu would spot a Paras emerging from the ground only to dig back into it. Carmen floated along hovering close to her trainer, a bit afraid of the wild pokemon that were scurrying along in the dark. "..." Crenu didn't really know how to comfort his little pokemon, so he just put a hand on top of her smooth oddly shaped head and continued down the pathway. As the cave opened up into a rather large cavern Crenu foudn himself gazing around at the rather spectacular sight. The stalactites dripping down from the highest points, their respective stalagmites growing upwards to meet them. In a few hundred years one or two might actually get the chance to connect. He couldn't admire the beauty of nature for very long though as a disgruntled Zubat swooped down and attacked the duo.
Crenu jumped back taking Carmen with him, the litle Psychic type's fingers flashing in violent distress as she clung to her trainer. "Calm yourself, it's just an enemy. Now's the time to fight. Get in there Carmen, take it down." Crenu nudged the Elgyem forward, she hoved timmidly in place as the angry Zubat screeched as it flapped it's fings furiously. The speedy bat shot forward and sank it's teeth into Carmen, sapping her strength away to replenish it's own with what Crenu recognized as Leech Life. Carmen droned out flashing like mad as the bug type move stung like crazy, but Crenu remained calom. "Focus and use your Confusion, you can hurt it just the same." Carmen flailed about as the Zubat remained latched onto her, but her fingers started to glow along with the lines on her head, and an aura surrounded the attacking Zubat. It let go it's prey as it felt it's mind getting assaulted, crying out in pain as she used her mind to push the bat back violently. It was a very effective attack, and the Zubat floated aroudn wearily as it recovered from the mental attack. Not wanting to get close again it screeched out, firing it's Super Sonic soudn wave to confuse Carmen, but the Cerebral pokemon droned out in triumph as she evaded. "Good, again." Carmen pointed her glowing fingers at the Zubat and held it in place as it struggled to break free, and with a flick of her wrist she sent it crashing into the cave floor. The Zubat lay there, dispatched, and Carmen's fingers flickered happily at her victory. "Hmm, good. Now let's keep going." Crenu patted her on the head and walked forward, deeper into Mt. Moon as Carmen followed eagerly.

Positioning her right hand so that it was resting horizontally against her forehead and shielding her eyes, Nina squinted and watched as Raimundo's prized Pokemon went rocketing off into the distance as the result of little effort on Krystal's part. "Huh," she said, "not bad, Krys. Although, I think you need to work on the arc of your shot just a little bit." A cheeky smirk played on her lips as she turned her head to look over her shoulder at a seething Raimundo. The girl crossed her arms over her breasts, turning to take her place by Sabrina's and Oracle's side; Whitney joined them a moment later. She was followed by Science, who buzzed a few times. Krystal made a funny little baroo noise and followed her Trainer. Anna, who had been a spectator along with Whitney, followed suit and took her place with the others as they faced the boy.
"You know, Raimundo, I have to say that I'm really not that impressed," Nina began. "I mean, you and Phoenix go through all of this trouble of stalking us and tracking us down and this and that and the other thing. The both of you go on your villainous little tangents about how you want revenge, about how you want to make all of us suffer, about how weak the three of us are..." She sighed. "You just-- you know, you're a lot of hot air."
By this point, Raimundo's eye seemed to have developed a permanent twitch; whether it was twitching at this point because of what Krystal had done to Typhoon, because of Nina's banter, or perhaps a combination of both, was uncertain. He also bore a very prevalent vein in his forehead, which protruded a bit and throbbed in conjunction with his ever-growing anger. "I've just about had it with you," he replied, in a surprisingly collected tone. "You might think that all of your little jabs at me are going to make some sort of impact, but you're wrong."
"Huh, that a fact?" Whitney chimed in curiously. "'Cause it seems to me that you're getting pretty ticked off! And, you know that when that happens, you don't seem to act very rationally; you let your emotions get the better of you, and you start yelling, and then Nina and Sabrina kick your butt ten ways to Sunday, and then you yell more."
"Maybe. But I'm not yelling now, am I?" the boy asked. He seemed to be calming down a bit.
"Perhaps not at the moment," Sabrina said, "but it certainly seems as though you're restraining yourself." "Yeah, who'da thunk that he's actually got some self-control?" Anna couldn't help but to feel as though something was amiss. She eyed Raimundo cautiously, remaining silent, as if waiting for something.
"No," Nina replied, "you're not. Why's that?" "Maybe because I figured out that I don't need to yell at you imbeciles any more." "And why's that?" Nina asked, a sense of caution ever-so-slightly hidden in her voice. "Hey, watch who you're callin' imbeciles!" Whitney snapped. "We've got you beat, so you're in no position to be insulting us! Or didja already forget that you're up against two people with nearly-full teams, plus me?" Science beeped a few times; he seemed to be adding his two cents.
"Whitney, don't provoke him," Anna said. "You don't know what's going on in his mind." "Psht, neither does he!" the girl exclaimed. "Don't worry, Anna, everything's fine. He's not gonna do anything to us." "Whitney, stop it--"
"No, no, Anna-- she's right," Raimundo replied. "I'm not going to do anything else to you."
"I can't say the same for me!" yelled a voice from the distance. Without giving the girls a moment to react, Phoenix shot through the air on the back of a Charizard, her Houndoom running below them, carrying Typhoon on his back. In one swift motion, Houndoom bucked Typhoon off of him into the air, allowing Raimundo time enough to recall his injured Pokemon. Proceeding this, Houndoom shot towards Oracle, clamping his fangs deep into the Pokemon's body and Crunching down painfully.
At the same time that that attack was occurring, Phoenix instructed her Charizard to fly downward; the Pokemon obeyed, with a rather impressive speed. As Phoenix and Charizard descended, the girl shouted a simple, "Now!" and the Charizard knew exactly what that meant.
Phoenix locked eyes with Whitney, and she began laughing. Holding on tightly to the back of her Charizard, they bolted towards the girl, who by this point had turned and began running-- it was, however, to no avail. Within seconds, Charizard had closed the distance on Whitney. He snatched her up with a firm grip and flew off into the air before anyone below had enough time to react. As they were vanishing into the distance, Phoenix's maniacal laughter followed.
"No!" Nina screamed. She hastily jumped on Krystal's back, holding on tightly. "Krystal, I need you to follow them and--"
"Absolutely not!" Raimundo hollered. What followed was a powerful Zap Cannon attack which struck Krystal head-on; the shot was fired from Raimundo's Probopass, and it produced an instant paralysis status effect. The Pokemon hovered in front of the boy, buzzing lowly.
Krystal found herself unable to move; she almost fell over as a result, causing Nina to quickly dismount her Pokemon and recall her before anything further could happen.
"You b*****d!" she screamed, snatching at another Pokeball. "I'm going to make you pay for--" "No, you're not," Sabrina replied, looking to the girl from Oracle-- who had somehow managed to survive Houndoom's assault. "You're going to leave, right now!" "Are you kidding me, Sabrina?! Are you nuts? I can't leave you! I have to help you so that we can save Whitney!" "And how do you plan on doing that-- taking chase on your paralyzed Pokemon? Nina, I need you to get to safety. I can take care of Raimundo!" "Sabrina, stop it! I need to help; I'm not going to abandon you, and that's that!"
Sabrina sighed. "I knew you'd persist... heh. Stubborn as always." The elder psychic reached for her belt and deployed Mimien, and whispered something to him. With a nod, the Pokemon did as he was instructed; he quickly ran to Nina and grabbed her hand, before Teleporting her and Anna away to an undisclosed location.
Stay safe, Nina. If you're as smart as I know that you are, you'll be able to find me.

As soon as Sheena had started to cry, Keegan felt his anger dissipate as it was immediately replaced by guilt. Wow, nice job, Keegan! Way to scream at the girl that just very nearly got flattened by her own Camerupt! It's not like she isn't already upset as it is! Very compassionate of you, you freakin' jerkass. Very helpful. The redhead let out a small groan as his inner monologue continued to ream him out, and from nearby, even Althena was looking at her trainer with an expression that more than clearly stated 'what the hell?' Keegan muttered a couple of curses under his breath as he looked up in the direction that Boris had ran off in. Sheena's sobbing continued, and as Keegan reached out to awkwardly pat her shoulder to try and calm her down, she'd suddenly lurched forward and was now clinging to him tightly. "Hey, it's okay," he said, awkwardly patting her shoulder. Some things never change, he thought with a roll of his eyes, but considering that he was responsible for her crying, he didn't try to shake her off him. "I'm sorry, all right? I shouldn't have yelled at you, it's not your fault. The situation's just gotten really out of-" there was a loud explosion in the distance- "hand."
The explosion had caused Sheena to jump and she pulled back from the redhead, still sniffling. "No, I'm sorry," she said, pulling a handkerchief from her bag and wiping her eyes. "And it is my fault. I froze up. I could have stopped him. I should have stopped him. And now!" The two trainers both looked over again as a flock of terrified Taillow all shot out of the trees at the same time, crying loudly. "I'm a terrible trainer!" Sheena wailed, burying her face in her handkerchief.
The redhead quickly shook his head. "No, you're not. I think it's just... he evolved so fast, so suddenly, that it took him by surprise. If you ask me, he's probably just freaking out. I mean, look at him. He went from being a cute little Numel to a large and very scary Camerupt in a matter of seconds. Not all Pokemon want to or even expect to evolve. It's only natural that some would react like that. I mean, I think I'd be pretty freaked out too if that happened to me."
Keegan's words were somewhat reassuring, and Sheena smiled a bit. "That makes sense, actually," she admitted, still sniffling. Another distant boom rocked the trees, a pillar of smoke starting to rise as a result. "He's headed for the Petalburg Woods, isn't he?" she asked, wincing.
Keegan gave a tired sigh, and nodded. "Yeah. He most certainly is." He continued to stare in the direction Boris had gone, and then glanced to Sheena before looking over at Althena, almost as though he were expecting the Golduck to respond with some sort of wisdom. She said nothing, of course, but when she looked right back at him, he knew exactly what the gleam in her eyes was saying. Despite the rather hairy circumstances, he laughed loudly, startling Sheena in the process. "C'mon," he said, jumping to his feet and holding out his hand for the pink-haired girl. "We're going after him."

"Just a trainer? Heh heh, I don't believe that." Ken smiled, breathing a sigh of relief as his little name slip up didn't cause any trouble. It was good to see jae was in a semi stable situation with him memory at the moment, and that he seemed comfortable enough with him to let Ken use a nickname. "No one is just a trainer. Being one is a pretty big deal. Even if you're not aspiring to be a coordinator or a breeder or a champion, the act of bonding with pokemon is a very big deal. You make a huge difference in these pokemon's lives, and they make just a big a difference in yours. And the same can be said about the people you meet on your journey, it's no mystery that trainers become friends quicker than everyone else. When you share a battle, you share everything you and your pokemon have been through to that point. There's a whole romance about the whole thing, don't you think?" Ken grinned as he patted Jae on the back, the light starting to filter in clearer as the forest thinned and it's exit was in view. "Just a trainer my foot. You're a trainer, and you should take that with pride and gusto! Heh heh heh, or at laest I think so anyway. After you, Mr. Trainer."
++++++++++++++++++++++
"You'd think they'd put up signs or something. I don't quite like the concept of getting lost in a cave." Crenu sighed as he looked at a large imposing stone wall that impeded his progress. He reached out and rested a hand on it's rough damp surface, letting the rock scratch his palm as he looked around. There was no other way out of this cavern other than the tunnel he came in through, nothing to see here other than a few big rocks. On the far side of it however there was a pair of trainers engaded in a battle, one with a charmander the other with what looked like a female Nidoran. Nor particularly strong pokemon yet, but then again this was wherea lot of weaker trainers tended to congregate. "...If I could run into a Clefairy then this might actually be worth it. Crushing a rare pokemon might make me feel better." Crenu gritted his teeth as he went back through the tunnel again to reach the big cavern he'd come from, taking a different rout this time. Carmen remained vigilant for more Zubat who would strike, feeling mighty after her last victory. But Crenu would sooner swat one in the face then let it come near, and they seemed pretty preoccupied with their daily routines to bother them anywho.
"Hey, what's that pokemon? I've never seen that before." Spoke a young trainer who had spotted the tall blond male with the strange alien looking thing floating around him.
Crenu didn't even bother looking at the kid and just kept walking, he didn't have time for cannon fodder right now, he just kept going down another offshooting tunnel. This one was wider and seemed more promising.
"Heeeeeey, don't ignore me! You're a trainer right? I mean you have a pokemon so you have to be. I challenge you! My sweet pokemon will beat you for sure!"
Again Crenu didn't say anything and just kept walking. Carmen looked at the rowdy young trainer wearily, sticking clsoe to Crenu as they were followed. She could easily read that Crenu didn't like this kid, and she shoed the young trainer with her hand, which was probably more cute than threatening.
"You can't ignore a challenge!"
"Watch me."
"Heeeeey, come on. Pleeeeease?" The youngster continued to chase the older broody trainer, not relenting in his challenge.

Ben was ready for battle, and so was the fisherman. "Goldeen, use your Horn Attack!" he commands, the fish leaping out of the water with its horn aimed straight for Pichu. "Pichu, look out!" Ben shouted, the tiny Pokemon ducking and curling quickly into a ball to dodge the attack. Ben had to think of a strategy, but he didn't have time before the fisherman was ordering another Horn Attack, this one striking Pichu right in the chest. Ben grit his teeth. 'Darn!' he thought.
The fisherman looked triumphant. "Atta girl, Goldeen! Leap again!" Ben had to make a quick decision. "Pichu, hit it with Thundershock while it's out of the water!" Pichu got up, trying to hit the Goldeen with his Thundershock as the fish leapt out of the water, dodging the attacks as fast as he can while he tries to shock it again and again, the moving target proving to be quite a challenge - but at least he was managing to avoid the horn. "That's it, Pichu, keep trying! Don't give up!" Pichu was panting heavily, electricity buzzing in his cheeks as he tried to muster more attacks. The horn attack came again and Pichu let loose a large burst, this time striking the fish and shocking it into oblivion, sending it gurgling back into the water. With a 'tch', the fisherman withdrew his Pokemon, reaching for his second ball. "Well done, kid. But we've still got one more battle to fight!"
Nodding, Ben, withdrew his Pichu as he seemed to be about to fall over from all of his electricity exertion. "Good job, buddy.. It's Pidgey's turn," he said as he grabbed his next Pokeball, watching the fisherman intently. "Go, Poliwag!" The round, blue Pokemon appeared, this one having legs and able to walk on the pier. 'Good,' Ben thought. 'It'll be easier to hit with Pidgey's physical attacks.'

Probably the biggest victory for Jasper so far was the somewhat stunned look that appeared on Falkner's face when he saw Ditto make its appearance, and even more so his comment about imitation. He still felt like a complete loser for not paying better attention to Croconaw's status during the last round, but he would save the self-depreciation for later; right now he had a badge to win. Despite the apprehension over the transforming Pokemon, Falkner had quickly called for the real Pidgeotto to use Steel Wing, not that it would be hard to tell the two apart.
"Ditto! You use Steel Wing, too!" the bandanna-clad boy shouted. After all, he wasn't all that familiar with Pidgeotto's available moves and he didn't see anything wrong with copying everything Falkner did, at least for now. He did make a mental note to start studying up on what moves Pokemon could learn, however, specifically the more common ones as it would likely make their future battles that much easier. Ditto gave a cry and took to the air as well, its own wings starting to glow. It was hard not to see how incredibly pleased it with was with itself, even as it took the hit from Falkner's Pidgeotto's Steel Wing. The Transform Pokemon didn't hesitate to turn the attack right back on its opponent, giving a gleeful shriek of its own as it did so.
"Hey Falkner," Jasper then called, wearing the biggest s**t-eating smile that he could possibly manage, "don't you know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?" * * * * * * * * * * The cheerful and ever-upbeat Hayley wasn't used to being spoken to in such a harsh manner, and for a rare moment she was silent, eyes wide with surprise. She did look around as Riza mentioned everyone was staring, and she covered her mouth with her hand. "Oh! Sorry!" she whispered. Perhaps Riza just didn't like being the center of attention?
The brunette smiled at Riza's quick apology, however, having already practically forgiven her. "Well, it just so happens that I-" but she was cut off rather abruptly as the raven-haired girl had grabbed her shoulders. "Hey whoa, what are you doing?" she asked, suddenly finding herself facing the doors of the Pokemon Center, her sketchbook hitting the floor from being spun around so fast. Her eyes widened again, this time with curiosity, as the pair entered the center. "Ooh, are they friends of yours?" Hayley asked, trying to glance at Riza from over her shoulder, though she didn't quite realize that the dark-haired girl was trying to hide from the blonde and the brown-haired boy she was with. "Hey guys!" she called, hopping up and down as she eagerly waved at the pair to try and get their attention - not that it would be that hard. "We're over here! Hi! HIIII!"

Kasiya was fiercely determined to stay awake for the duration of the flight to Pewter, doing her best to pay rapt attention as Mike had started talking about fossil Pokemon. She tried to comment when it seemed appropriate, hardly realizing when her cheek had come to rest against his back again, and she closed her eyes, breathing in his scent. He smelled like a fire Pokemon, which made her smile, even if she couldn't decide which one it was. Between the warmth of the Charizard and the boy she clung to, however, drowsiness was her poison, however, and about twenty minutes into the flight, she'd fallen sound asleep. She couldn't remember all the details, but she'd dreamed about that beautiful Flareon again, as the two of them were busy practicing more and more contest combinations.
The jostle back into reality was less than pleasant, even as she felt a quick little kiss against her cheek, and she smiled. "Mmm... warm... sleepy..." she murmured, feigning sleepiness in hopes of more kisses even as her feet touched the ground. "Sorry, I did it again," she said softly, but quite suddenly a loud voice was shouting at them, a loud voice that Kasiya didn't recognize at all. "What... who...?" she murmured, visibly annoyed that her attention had been forcibly pulled away from Mike, her annoyance shifting to confusion as she looked at the brown-haired girl waving excitedly at them, though for the moment, she didn't see the dark-haired Riza hiding behind the brunette. "Um... Mike?" she asked, looking up at the boy, more than a slight hint of jealousy in her voice. "Do you know her?"

Mike's first instinct to seeing the cute girl waving excitedly in his direction was to step aside and look behind him at whatever person he was so rudely standing in front of. To his surprise and now building confusion, unless this girl absolutely adored the sliding doors, she was waving at them. "I uh, do not, actually." he said to Kasiya, smiling. The implications of her tone were not lost on him. "I would elaborate by saying I have never seen her before in my life, but doesn't that phrase always seem a bit suspicious?" His gaze followed his sentence, trailing off as he spoke before snapping back to her. He grinned, giving her the kiss she so clearly wanted to put her mind at ease. Nevertheless the boy was telling the truth. He had an extensive history of deceit, but that was in the past, and definitely nothing he was going to keep up with her. "But no. I'm as lost as you are." One other thing that did add to the confusion was that with all the, well, decorations on his face, it was pretty easy to tell him apart from other shaggy-haired boys. They didn't glow in low light. That was of course, if Mike was interpreting the reason behind Hayley's salutation correctly, which he was clearly not. With the girl's joyful greeting showing no sign of calming, Mike turned to face her.
"You certainly are, hello." he responded, an uncomfortable smiling curling his features as the eyes that had previously been trained on the girls now found a new subject to gawk at. As being stared at was pretty much routine at this point, Mike ignored the crowd and approached the girl. It was then that the boy noticed there was a mass of black hair standing behind her. "And just who exactly is this 'we', you're referring to?" He leaned on one foot to get a better look at the person hiding behind the bouncy brunette. "Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe we've met, miss...?" He swirled his hand in the air as he waited for a response, a very faint trail of smoke spiraling upward as he did.

"Hey man we gotta battle and get stronger right? That's what trainers doooo. Look I get it if you're weak, but you don't gotta be afraid. There's a center near here and it's all a part of training. Promise I won't go too hard on your thingy there."
This was the point where Crenu stopped, did this brat just call him weak and afraid? It took every bit of will power to not smash the youngster on the spot, instead Crenu turned to face him and begrudgingly accepted. "If it'll make you shut up then fine. This thing is an Elgyem. It's not from Kanto. All I have time for is a one on one." Crenu crossed his arms as he took up his stance, and Carmen floated over in front of him, arms crossed as well trying to look intimidating like her trainer. All she knew was tht he didn't like this stranger, so she didn't like him either.
"Woh cool, so like Johto or something huh? Alright, let's take this thing down then! Go Metapod!" The young trainer sent forth his red and white sphere, releasing the green pupa that was his Metapod, it's eyes staring down the field at Carmen. "Heh heh heh, good uck getting past our iron clad defenses! Even the Geodude in this cave can't hurt us with their strongest tackles! Metapod use Harden!" The green pokemon stared blankly, however it's shell started to shine brighter as it became stiffer and gained what looked like a coating of fresh armor.
"...." Crenu didn't say anything at first, letting the kid have his moment. He wanted to berate the trainer, but how could he knew that Carmen was a psychic type with no physical moves? It didn't matter, there was no point in engaging in battle talk with the opponent. "Confusion." It was the only thing Carmen really had right now, but it was something. She uncrossed her arms as her fingers flashed, and a mental wave was cast over the Cocoon Pokemon, making it topple over in pain.
"Eh!? But..but our iron clad defense! I Don't get it! Uhg, Metapod use Harden again!" Again a new shiny sheen came over the bug type as it got back up and hardened again.
"...Useless. Confusion again." Carmen sent another attack, and it did the exact same thing as before. The Metapod toppled and cried out, while Carmen floated in place looking a bit concearned.
"Impossible! No way, what's going on!? Metapod use...use tackle then!" The green coccoon didn't need to be told twice. It's muscles tightened, it's body bent slightly, and then all of a sudden it fired off launching it'self at Carmen like a missle.

"Finally! Let's show how powerful you are Snover! Powder Snow!" Doug called out; the brat was barely able to contain himself with excitement. He didn't even seem to care or notice that people were a bit upset at the impromptu hail storm. The little Frost Tree pokemon was almost as oblivious as his trainer as he waddled forward a bit closer to Kali and holding out one snow covered arm and with a wave it sent a fine coat of powdered snow towards the dark dragon.
"You might not want to get to close. Kali blast that snow away with your Dragon Rage." Dante did not want his pokemon to get blasted by what would probably be a super critical super effective attack figured that just blasting the snow away would be a good idea. Unfortunately luck was not on Dante's side anymore, that and Kali was blind and aiming at something wasn't really her thing, the little dragon just liked to blast everything around her and forget any and all consequences. So while Kali was all too happy to send out a blast of blue dragons fire she completely missed the snow that was flying towards her instead blasting the area a few feet to the left of the Snover. She didn't get too much time to react as the snow hit her hard burying her slightly in powdery cold crystals. The Deino gave a pained cry as she tried to climb out of the snowy mess.
"So it doesn't like ice huh?" The kid gave a cocky grin at Dante, the older boy just rolled his eyes at him. "Well then let's hit it again with another Powdered Snow!"
"Oh boy, that sounds fun." Dante muttered. "All right Kali get up close and personal, Tackle it."
The dark dragon type had pulled itself out of the snow by now and while the hail was hurting with every piece that landed on her she couldn't help but feel more and more enraged by it. Growling slightly she charged forward intent on giving the pokemon that dared to hit her with the disgusting cold a piece of her mind. Snover managed to swing its arm around and send out another wave of snow. The blast of snow hit the Deino right in the chest but her momentum was already there and the dragon type barreled right on through and landed a nice Tackle sending both pokemon spiraling head over heels. The Snover got up looking ready to battle more while Kali struggled to get up onto all four feet.

Still sniffling, Sheena allowed for Keegan to pull her to her feet. "We are?" she asked, eliciting a nod from the redhead, and the pair started to jog off in the direction of the Petalburg Woods. "I'm guessing you have some sort of plan, then?" she asked uncertainly.
"A plan?" Keegan chuckled, giving a shrug. "Well, so far it consists of finding Boris and stopping him from burning down the whole damn forest."
The pink-haired girl laughed. "That sounds more like a goal than an actual plan," she stated matter-of-factly.
"You got a better idea? Or better yet, something actually helpful to say?" Keegan retorted, a little more harshly than he intended.
Sheena's face quickly turned scarlet and her pace slowed slightly. "No," she admitted quietly, looking to the side as Keegan's Golduck trotted past her.
"Then shut up and let me think. I'm totally winging everything as I go." It clearly wasn't going to be hard to find Boris, as all they had to do was follow the trail of flames, smoke and destruction, but for good measure, he sent out Artemis, and in a blue and red blur, the speedy Swellow was off. Keegan snapped his fingers. "Sheena! Do you still have your Wingull?"
Sheena nodded. "Bagel? Yeah, of course. I mean, sort of. But I don't think he-"
Keegan cut her off. "Good, send him out! We need all the help we can get," he said, his mental tally of his currently available Pokemon coming up a bit short. Obviously Pan and Hades were out of the equation, but at the very least, Eithne wouldn't be harmed by the Camerupt's Fire-type attacks. He wasn't sure about Moeder, though, but he figured now was as good a time as any to give the newly-evolved Arcanine a field test. He unhooked the Great Ball from his belt and gave it a toss, revealing the ever-eager canine. She gave a confused yelp as she saw that her trainer and his pink-headed companion were running and gave chase. "Wanna give us a ride?" the redhead asked, and the Arcanine gave a loud bark, slowing down and allowing her trainer to hop up on her back. "Come on, Sheena!" he called out, holding his hand out for her to grab so he could pull her up as well.
"Uhh, no thanks! I'm good here," the pink-haired girl giggled weakly, slowing to a complete stop and watching as the boy and his Arcanine sped away. "Go on ahead... without me." ===== Falkner looked past the Ditto to Jasper as it pummeled his Pidgeotto with an impressive Steel Wing of its own, showcasing that there was more than simple mimicry at play here. That didn't mean that Falkner had to like it. His cool, aloof composure had started to crack and he crossed his arms over his chest, openly scowling at the bandanna-wearing boy. He'd had overconfident challengers, arrogant challengers and challengers that were just downright rude, but he couldn't quite find a word to describe Jasper - perhaps it was irritating, or vexing, or just plain bothersome? "Pidgeotto, use Quick Attack," he called, and the bird trilled loudly as it sped into action, rocketing towards the copycat Pidgeotto. Sure, Ditto was able to copy any move that they were to use, but Falkner wasn't so sure it could measure up to pure experience and savoir-faire.

"Hayley! What are you doing?!" Riza hissed sharply through clenched teeth as the brunette went ahead and did the exact opposite thing that Riza wanted her to, and try as she might to push down on the other girl's shoulders and stop her from jumping up and down like a lunatic, Hayley's enthusiasm was just that much stronger. The dark haired girl groaned but there wasn't much she could do now as her cover was blown before she could even establish it. Trying to keep hiding now would only make her look like an idiot.
Before she pulled herself to her full height, Riza spied the sketch book that Hayley had dropped and she picked it up, managing to make it look a more like she was being a good friend and less like she was trying to avoid being seen by someone she didn't particularly care for. She was also more than certain that the feeling was mutual.
Riza got a good look at the couple now that she was no longer trying to hide, fairly certain she recognized the boy Kasiya was with. Mike, was it? Wasn't he the one with the Charizard? Regardless, a very surprised expression crossing her features as she watched them share a kiss. "Okay, that's new," she murmured, blinking a few times as she didn't quite believe what she saw. 'What had happened to the red head? Ah whatever.' Riza really didn't care who the annoying blonde kissed, but that didn't mean she wouldn't try to be civil, at least for now. "Hey Kasiya, what brings you all the way out here?" she practically sneered, though in all honesty she hadn't really meant to. After all, try had been the operative word.

Oh. So Falkner wasn't one for witty battle banter, a fact that was mildly disappointing to Jasper, but he'd have to get over it - the blue-haired and now scowling Gym Leader had ordered a Quick Attack, and now the accept-no-substitutes Pidgeotto was streaking toward Ditto like a comet. 'That sucker is fast,' Jasper thought with a slight frown. "You use Quick Attack too, Ditto!" the bandanna-clad delinquent shouted. The Terrific Transformer put it into turbo as it flapped its wings for what was likely to be a very violent and possibly painful for both parties meet-and-greet. As the two birds clashed in the air, trading attacks, for a quick moment, Jasper scowled as well. Copying everything Falkner and his Pidgeotto did was actually starting to get old, and fast. * * * * * * * * * * "What?" Hayley inquired innocently, more or less unaware of the fact that she'd even done anything wrong. After a moment or two, however, she realized that Riza seemed to want her to stop jumping and she did, smiling brightly at the cute couple as they'd acknowledged her presence. A hopeless romantic at heart (and honestly, who didn't see that one coming, really?) the brunette cupped her face in her hands and swooned noticeably as the couple locked lips. "Awwwwww!" she sighed, her eyes fluttering dreamily, but this time she was being overly dramatic on purpose. "Isn't that just the sweetest? Don't you think so too, Riza?" she added, tagging her new friend in on the conversation as she most certainly had not missed the scathing question the raven-haired girl had shot at the blonde - honestly, was that Riza's idea of a polite greeting? This Kasiya girl (and a sweet-looking little thing she was, too) hadn't even really uttered a word to them yet, aside from her understandable confusion.
Anyway, Hayley looked back at the boy that Kasiya had arrived with, her unbiased, million-watt smile beaming at him as he humbly requested her name. "Hayley!" she said cheerfully, giving a little bit of a curtsy. "Hayley Jayne Bennett! And who might you be?" she asked, as Riza's and Kasiya's names had already been established. She hadn't missed the teensy bit of smoke that seemed to escape the boy's very palm, as she was quite observant, even for a Watcher-in-Training, but she chalked it up to some sort of magic trick. She'd also noticed the heavy scarring on his face, and as intriguing as that was - for every scar usually had a story to tell - she pretended not to notice for now as the rather nosy patrons of the Pokemon Center had turned their sights on the boy, and it wasn't generally considered good manners to start asking someone she'd only just met about something that could potentially be a sensitive subject.
