Tell them you are a lifelong customer and want to be a lifelong customer, and your data was corrupted despite the backup feature, you think it is a problem with your specific cartridge, and you would feel uncomfortable buying their games again if you didn't know this problem was guaranteed to be rectified whenever you came across it. See how fast they offer to replace it.
