Keegan was a little surprised when Sasha seemed to calm down somewhat quickly, and even more so when she looked at him. He could feel her heart racing and in turn it made his began to pound as well, and he gulped a little as he stared back down at her. Oh no, no, no, you can't be serious! his mind shouted, and he could almost feel the slap to the back of the head he'd give himself if he could. First Mai, now Sasha? What the hell is wrong with you? He felt a second mental slap, and he blinked and glanced over at Mia, who was no doubt more than a little confused by now. "We've had a really rough week," he said with a shrug, but as nonchalant as he tried to be, he couldn't help but sigh heavily and close his eyes. Right, a rough week. Biggest. Understatement. Ever.
Keegan couldn't help but chortle a bit at the 'gentleman' comment, as he'd been called many things, but a gentleman was never one of them. As Sasha pulled away from him, he brushed off his shirt a little, not caring too much about the tear stains that now decorated it. "Yeah, you're a bit spoiled, but it's part of your charm," he said before he could stop himself, and he chuckled nervously and backed away, pretending to be interested in the patterns of the tile on the floor while Sasha cleaned herself up. The idea of picking fights, however, did sound very good to him, though it took a moment for him to realize that she meant Pokemon battles, and not actual fist fights. Even still, it was better than waiting around here. "Sure, let's get out there and show them what we 'outsiders' are capable of." He started for the door, stopping only to look back at Mia to let her know that she was welcome to join them if she wanted to. After all, she may have been monstrously tall, and a bit weird, but she seemed like a nice enough girl.

"Eh? You know where he is Ace?" Robin asked noticing that the Chimchar was pointing into the forest. Brightening up Robin grinned and clapped her hands together she was about to say something when they could hear voices coming from inside of the lab. "Oh people are here!"
Raising an eyebrow Rowan wasn't expecting guests at the moment, he opened the door and looked into the main part of his lab. Inside of the lab were some scruffy looking trainers who seemed to be poking around. "Excuse me but what are you three doing here?" Taking a closer look at them he noticed that they looked a little familiar but it wasn't enough for him to really notice.
While Robin was pretty excited about meeting new people she decided to plop down next to her new pokemon and grinning slightly she poked him in the cheek. Ignoring the glare that the little fire chimp sent her Robin grinned before glancing over at Ampersand. "Wish you could pet him while he was awake." Getting up she headed over to where Ampersand and Rowan were near the door. "So who's here?" She asked as she peeked over Rowans shoulder. "Kilik! Kasi! Cool purple haired girl! What are you all doing here?" Robin's voice was bright and cheerful at the sight of meeting her friends, even though Kasi didn't really know here and the purple haired girl didn't know her either.
"You know them?" Rowan asked somehow not surprised that Robin knew these people who burst into his lab without so much of a knock or call in advance.
Grinning Robin clapped her hands together and nodded before waving them out. "Come on outside! Oh! You might want to put your pokemon away..." Robin trailed off not wanting to give out Ampersands secret but not wanting them to freak out when their pokemon fell asleep. Next to her Ampersand rolled his eyes at Robin's not so subtle warning, at least she didn't say his name.

Nina wasn't sure how long she sat on that bed before it finally sank into her mind that neither she nor Sabrina were capable of running the Gym any longer. Their badges were essentially obsolete, as was their authority. Re-reading the note that had been left for them, the girl saw that it said to contact Lance if there were "extenuating circumstances." After mulling over what she was going to say, Nina dialed the phone number and walked outside. It rang three or four times before someone picked up on the other end. Anna followed close behind.
"Hello?" asked an all-too-familiar male voice. "Lance. It's Nina," the girl replied. "Nina, hello! What can I do for you?" "Well, you can help me get Sabrina's and my Gym licenses reinstated, for one. We just got back to Saffron and I found a note on our Gym door that said our licenses had been revoked due to neglecting our duties." "You just now got that note? It's been posted there for ages. However, yes, we had no choice but to revoke her Gym license-- and yours, for that matter-- because of numerous complaints from Trainers seeking to battle one of you for a Marshbadge. Initially, we paid little mind to the matter, as we just assumed it was some kids trying to start trouble. After persistent reports, however, a Pokemon League investigator was sent to Saffron City to look into the matter. After finding out that nobody was even tending to the Gym, there was little else to be done with the matter. We had to reinstate the Fighting Dojo's license to Mateo, as he is a reliable person. He accepts all challengers, as a Gym Leader should."
"Lance, do you know why Sabrina has been absent from her Gym so very much lately?" "No, I don't." "Okay, then. Allow me to educate you. Quite some time ago, Sabrina and I were in Mahogany Town, investigating the Lake of Rage incident. You were there for a little while with us, should memory serve. What you don't know is that after you left us, a lingering Team Rocket member attempted to assassinate me. Sabrina protected me, and died in my place-- or so I thought. She feigned death, but used her psychic powers to make me believe that she had died, in order to protect me from further harm. I traveled by myself for quite some time, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of what I'd believed I had seen. I was locked away in your Pokemon League, under your care for some time. What I didn't know was that not only was Sabrina alive, but she was acting as a mole, gathering firsthand information about Maorde Menskr. After she and I, shall we say, "reunited," she informed me that she discovered he was an impostor of the real Maorde. After tracking him for a substantial amount of time, with the help of Whitney Amherst of Goldenrod City, we were finally able to find him and put an end to his reign of terror. I would say that those certainly qualify as your goddamned "extenuating circumstances," wouldn't you?" Nina hadn't intended to come off as being so irritated to a friend of hers, but she couldn't help but feel aggressive and defensive.
"Nina, that story is all well and good," Lance replied, "but unless you have some way of proving it to me, there is nothing that I can do. My hands are tied; I'm sorry." "You want proof?" Nina challenged. "Okay. I've got your proof. I'll meet you in your chamber in five minutes." With that, Nina hung up the phone and walked back inside. Being careful not to rouse Sabrina from her slumber, she borrowed one of her sister's Pokeballs and walked back outside, grabbing her backpack on the way out. She released the Pokemon from its capsule. "Ah, Nina," Oracle said. "What can I do for you?" The girl wore a stoic expression on her face as she adjusted her backpack. "Take me to Lance's chamber in the Kanto Pokemon League, if you would please, Oracle." The Pokemon nodded. "But of course. Do hold on."
Within a flash, Oracle Teleported away, taking Nina and Anna with him.

If something were to take a Shuckle and hit her over the head with it, well, it'd be a lot less painful than the sharp pain that suddenly surged through her head at that very moment. Mitsu clutched her head, denying herself the luxury of screaming, and cringed in pain. It was another headache, but this one was much, much worse than she'd ever experienced. No, no, no, nononono, not now. Please not now.
Heat suddenly rushed throughout body and she felt her feet lurch forward first walking then running and then sprinting as if her life depended on it. Tree branches and rocks dressed her in wounds, painting her exposed arms and legs red all over. Various screams and cries and unidentifiable calls rang through her ear making her very aware that she was not the sole victim to this pain. Mitsu's eyes snapped shut, the memories were too painful and the reliving all too real for her. No, no, I didn't mean to set the forest on fire. I swear. No. It's not my fault. Please! It's not! Though while she cried through all this anguish she appeared to only have a minor headache on the outside. She didn't want to alarm her friends who had journeyed so far to get Pokemon from this very lab.
Lucario, wise and observant as he was, immediately took notice of his trainer's pain. Though he could also see it was something that she did not want others to be aware of. Lucario spoke to Kilik in the same manner that Karri's telepathy worked, though he seemed to only be able to channel his words to one person. "You!" he mentally addressed Kilik, "my master's suitor. My master seems to have a headache, I will take her to the Pokemon Center. Do not worry." He whisked his purple headed trainer outside after a quick but very respectable bow to the trainers and Pokemon professor before them.
Inside the house of healing Lucario carried Mitsu to a bed after alerting the nurse and various Chansey's who were overly worried. He pressed a damp towel to her forehead as he patiently watched her writhe in pain, trying his very best to help ease the suffering anyway he could. Just because he was a warrior did not mean he had no heart.
---------======---------
Mia shook her head, "That's okay. I'm heading to Oreburgh for a gym badge anyways. Maybe we'll run into each other later!" Mia waved good bye to the two people. As they left she felt almost liberated for they were a confusing bunch of people, the red-headed one especially. Though they were interesting she didn't want to be a third wheel, for the two seemed to be pretty close what with the forehead kiss and all. She didn't want to be an unwelcome intruder after all. Smiling, she marched her way out of Jubilife and into the more friendly area of grassy pathways and open skies.

Nina was beginning to get used to traveling via Teleportation. The nauseating feelings associated with that type of travel were becoming naught but a memory now. She was slightly dizzy, but that faded quickly, and she took in her surroundings. She was inside Lance's battle chamber; he had redesigned it since she had last visited. Golden statues of Dragonite decorated both sides of the room, likely to honor his closest friend. "Ah, Nina," said a voice from behind her, "so very good to see you." She turned around to find the Dragon Trainer a few feet away from her. "Good to see you as well," she replied, with a bit of a smile. "It's been quite some time. A lot has happened since I've seen you last." The older Trainer looked intrigued. "Oh?"
Nina took the time to explain absolutely everything of import that had happened in her life, since last seeing Lance. She went into great, explicit detail in regards to Sabrina's supposed death (and her bouts with borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder as a result), the abduction of Anna, being reunited with Sabrina, battling Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave and nearly being killed in the process, and the tracking down process and eventual capture of Maorde Menskr.
"Yes, you mentioned the formermost and lattermost items in our phone conversation," Lance said. "I know Sabrina, and I'm not doubting for an instant that she feigned her death to protect you. However, the fact that you claim you, Sabrina, and Whitney have put an end to Maorde is something that I can't so easily dismiss." Nina took her backpack off. "I know," she replied, as she began rummaging through it. "I haven't forgotten that you asked for proof of that claim. And I've come prepared to show you that I am not lying to you." She took the doll of Maorde out of her backpack, and handed it to Lance, who handled it as if it were made of china. "As you know, Sabrina is the only person that is capable of turning people into dolls, due to her supremely advanced psychic abilities," Nina continued. "You recall how she turned our parents into dolls. That is very much what she did with Maorde here. If you don't believe me, just hold that doll in your hands and close your eyes. You will be able to feel a very real energy flowing through it. You don't need psychic abilities to feel that." Lance did just as Nina suggested, and sure enough, he was certainly able to feel that the doll had a life force. It was an angry, evil life force, but it was still very present. "That's incredible," he marveled. "But, why isn't Sabrina herself here to tell me about this?"
Nina closed her backpack and put it back on. "Transfiguration is extremely taxing on her body. When Whitney and I were battling Maorde, Sabrina was centering herself and focusing a great deal of her psychic energy for a very long time; she must've been doing that for at least fifteen or twenty minutes straight, if not longer. After the battle was over, Sabrina transformed Maorde, and collapsed to the ground immediately afterward. She couldn't even walk without my aid. She requested that we return to Saffron so that she could get some rest, which is what we did. She was asleep when I left." Lance acknowledged this with a nod. "I see. Well, all things considered, that certainly makes for extenuating circumstances. Generally speaking, you would have to present this case to other Pokemon League authorities, but since you were told to contact me, the decision in regards to reinstating the Gym License to you and Sabrina is mine." He was silent for a moment or two.
"Clearly, you're telling the truth, and you have evidence to back up your claim. It is due to these factors that I have decided to reinstate Sabrina's license as a Gym Leader. She will share the duties with the current Gym Leader of Saffron City; Mateo, the master of the Fighting Dojo. Hopefully, that will put an end to the rivalry between the Gyms, and you will all learn to appreciate one another." Nina was a bit confused. "Wait. What about me?" she asked. "Simple: You are to have a battle with Mateo, and win." "Then you'll reinstate my license?" "Not quite. Did you not hear me? The Gym Leader duties will be shared. All of the Gym Leaders in every region have fought to earn their titles and badges, and if you wish to split the responsibilities with Sabrina, you are going to have to do the same. You acquired your Marshbadge by default, as nobody else was available to replace Sabrina at the time. So now, you're going to have to work for it." "Wait. Do you mean...?"
"Yes. After you fight Mateo, you are to fight Sabrina as well."

I have to battle Sabrina? Nina thought. How is that fair? How do I know that she won't go easy on me? Or that I'll go easy on her? Maybe if I just pretend that I'm battling someone else, it won't be so difficult for me. But, what if she reads my mind? Or what if I feel tempted to read hers? No. Sabrina wouldn't do that to me; she's as fair of a Trainer as she is a powerful one.
"Okay," she replied. "I have to beat both Mateo and Sabrina before you will reinstate my Gym License, correct?" "Correct. After you have beaten both of them, report back to me, either via telephone or in person, and I will acknowledge you as a Gym Leader of Saffron City once more." "Okay. Deal." "Now, is there anything else that you wish to speak with me about?" "There isn't. However, that doll of Maorde-- I need it back. Sabrina and I have agreed to keep it with us until we figure out what to do with it." Lance nodded, and handed the doll back to Nina, watching her return it to her backpack. "All right, then. Before you leave, however, I just want to wish you good luck in your Gym challenges." Nina smiled. "Thank you, Lance. I appreciate that. I can promise you that I will do my best in those fights." With another quick smile, Nina turned to Oracle and Anna. "Oracle, if you would return us to the Gym, please." "But of course. Do hold on." Lance watched as the psychic and her Pokemon vanished before his eyes. I really do wish you good luck, he thought. If Sabrina can put aside the fact that you're her sister, there is no doubt in my mind that she will be a ruthless fighter. She'll certainly give you a run for your money.
Nina and company returned to the Gym's exterior; returning Oracle to his Pokeball, she walked back inside, seeing Sabrina rousing from her rest. "Hey," she said. "You feeling any better?" With a yawn, Sabrina replied that she was. "Much better, actually." She noticed that Nina had Oracle's Pokeball in her hands. "Did you go somewhere?" she asked. "I did, in fact," Nina replied. "I had Oracle take Anna and me to the Pokemon League to see Lance." Sabrina looked a bit puzzled. "How come?" The younger girl gave Sabrina her Pokemon back, before grabbing the note that was posted on the Gym door. She explained the entire situation to Sabrina, and the conversation that she had with Lance. She left out the minor detail of how Lance told her that she would have to fight Sabrina after Mateo before she would get her own Gym License reinstated. She didn't want to mention that yet.
"Well, that shouldn't be much trouble for you!" Sabrina commented. "Just take them on with Anna here. Mateo won't know what the hell to do about her." Anna grinned. "What can I say," she said, "when it comes to battling against Fighting Pokemon, I'm kind of a big deal." Nina rolled her eyes, chuckling. "And so modest about it, too." Sabrina chuckled as well, looking from the Ghost, to her sister. "So, kiddo, what do you say? Let's get that Gym License of yours back!" Nina took a moment to respond. "I say... let's do this."
With a smile, Nina got to her feet and headed toward the exit, Sabrina and Anna following close behind.

Train gave a small, sideways smile when Julio fell, a small sweat drop appearing on the back of her head. She glanced at Carlos and motioned for Pikachu to come along as she moved to follow him. She hooked her thumbs in her jeans’ pockets and kept pace with the guitar-playing trainer. ”Actually, yeah, I really just wanna get to Cerulean so I can try for my second badge,” She replied. Though it seemed a bit soon to already be thinking of challenging for her second badge, she did have two Pokémon with type advantages over the gym’s. ”What about yourself?”

As she neared Rowan's Lab, Kasiya could tell that something was going on, or had gone on, anyway, and she frowned in annoyance as Kilik quickly caught up to and surpassed her, his long legs easily carrying him right to the front door of the lab. Stupid long legs, she sighed, but shrugged. She couldn't do anything about her lack of height, so there was no sense in complaining about it. She did notice that Mitsu was no longer with them, but she wasn't sure why. She entered the lab behind Kilik, making a mental note to ask him where she'd gone when she had a chance. Professor Rowan's lab was a very impressive building, though Kasiya could tell that it wasn't quite as large as Professor Oak's lab was back in Pallet Town. She fell into step behind Kilik as they walked along, also taking notice of the three bird Pokemon that where there. They looked very similar in their colouring, and unable to resist, Kasiya took out her PokeDex and scanned them. Starly, Staravia, and Staraptor, she read to herself, not so sure she liked the fully evolved form. It looked very strong, but not very friendly, and she decided to help Kilik find the Professor. "Yeah, where is everyone?" she mumbled in agreement, but their query would soon be answered by a very familiar voice, and Kasiya peered around Kilik, surprised to see Robin standing there next to Professor Rowan. There was also a man whom she swore she'd seen before, but couldn't quite recall when. "Heya, Robin!" she called, waving at the redheaded girl before turning to Rowan. "You have a very nice lab here," she said, not sure what else she should be saying.
=-=-=-=-= Jaeshan let out a slightly annoyed sigh now that hew as dealing with a poisoned Pokemon along with the sleeping one, and though the sleep would wear off eventually, Jaeshan knew this match had just gotten tougher. Perhaps I underestimated her a little, he thought, looking across the battlefield at Mary. She looked a little more confident than before, but still not overly so, but things were definitely tipping in her favor. Beedrill still wouldn't awaken, despite Jaeshan's shouting, and though he had wanted to save this move for later, he knew he had to use it now. "Squirtle, Ice Beam," he said quickly. The Tinyturtle Pokemon gave a quick nod and jumped up, rearing back his head as he loosed the frigid beam at the Oddish. Jaeshan realized he hadn't told Squirtle which of the two Grass-type Pokemon were his targets, but this would work for now. The Oddish let out a sharp yelp as its tiny body was overcome with cold, and it staggered back, ice crystals clinging to the leaves atop its head. Even with all the commotion, Beedrill still didn't wake up.
"No way," Mary mumbled, watching her chilled Pokemon fearfully. This boy must know what he was doing in order to teach an Ice-type move to his Water-type, as it would be an effective means to counter his weakness to Grass-type Pokemon. "Oddish, use Absorb, on Squirtle! And Bellsprout, give that Beedrill another good Cut!" The Weed Pokemon shook off the ice crystals and waved its leaves around, causing both its and its opponent's bodies to glow green before Oddish drew out a large burst of energy from the turtle, leaving him feeling weaker than before. The same couldn't be said for Oddish as its health was replenished, while nearby the Bellsprout continued to hold Beedrill tightly with its vines and was now slashing at the snoozing bee with its sharp little leaves.

It had been a small lifetime since Nina had her last Gym Battle. Should memory serve, her last battle had been against Chuck, another Fighting-type master. She pulled off a victory against him, so she surmised that it wouldn't be terribly difficult to do so against Mateo. She ran over her team lineup in her mind: Anna, Krystal, Pookie, Aphrodite, and Sakura. Anna was her best bet at taking down the Fighting-type Pokemon, as they more than likely would be unable to do anything against her, due to her type advantage. Krystal was another safe bet, due to her extreme versatility. Pookie was weak to Fighting-type attacks, but made up for it with his excellent Defense, but Aphrodite didn't have that luxury. She did, however, have Psychic, which was a nice counterbalance. The only Pokemon of Nina's that didn't seem to have any practicality against Fighting-type Pokemon-- or against Pokemon in general, really-- was Sakura. To be honest, Nina couldn't even remember the last time she used Sakura to great effect. Taking the Bellossom's Pokeball from her belt and examing it, she let out a soft sigh. It's time to stow you away for now, she thought. I'm sorry, Sakura. Running into the nearby Pokemon Center, she logged onto the computer and, before she changed her mind, deposited her Pokemon into the PC.
Exiting the Center, Nina met back up with Anna and Sabrina. "Sorry," she said. "I had to make a necessary cut from the team." "I'd have done the same. Sakura, unfortunately, really isn't that practical of a Pokemon. She's good for inflicting status effects, but that's pretty much it." "I have to agree with Sabrina, as mean as that might sound. Are you going to replace her with another Pokemon?" "Well... there's a few Pokemon that've been on my mind for quite some time. I'd love to get a Porygon and a Smeargle, but who knows when I'll come across them?" "Odd creatures, Porygon are." "Mm, Anna's right. They do seem a bit unusual. Are there any others you were thinking about getting?" "Well, I was thinking about maybe getting a Hitmontop or a Machamp."
There was a very, very long pause from Sabrina. "Are. You. Kidding. Me." She made certain to emphasize every single word. Nina broke out into laughter. "I'm just kidding! The day that I ever get a Fighting-type will be when the world ends." Sabrina did not appear amused.
The girls resumed conversation a few minutes later as they headed back up towards the Fighting Dojo. "You ready for this?" Sabrina asked. "I am. I can do this." Truth be told, it wasn't the battle against Mateo that had Nina worried; it was the one against Sabrina that she was really concerned about. However, she had to keep that out of her mind as much as possible. She couldn't lose her focus, or else her abilities might suffer as a result. She reached for the door, and opened it, walking inside. Anna and Sabrina followed closely behind. She was met by a young Blackbelt almost immediately. "Welcome to the Fighting Dojo!" he said. "My name is Toku. Here, under the leadership of Mateo, we believe in--" Toku paused mid-sentence as his eyes drifted from Nina to Sabrina.
"You," he said. "What are you doing here?" Sabrina crossed her arms. "At ease," she commanded. "I am not here to cause trouble. My sister Nina, who has shared the duties of Gym Leader with me, is here to have a battle with Mateo so that she may have her Gym License reinstated. And, you should get used to seeing me again, as it has been issued by Lance O'Rourke of the Kanto Pokemon League that Saffron City's Gym duties are to be shared between Mateo and myself. I have had my own Gym License reinstated." Toku appeared agitated. "If Lance issued that, then there is little I can do." He looked back to Nina. "If you wish to have a battle with Mateo, you must first defeat me. This will be a Single Battle, and we are permitted two Pokemon each." He released a Primeape from its Pokeball. "Do I make myself clear?"
Nina smiled, reaching for the Ultra Ball at her belt. "Yes. You've made yourself Krystal clear." She released her Dragon onto the field, her smile only growing.

Kilik heeded Robin's warning, though he wasn't exactly sure why, and recalled his Treecko. He figured it must be some kind of rule in Rowan's lab, something like the professor didn't want the other Pokemon to get scared or come into contact with outside Pokemon. Suddenly, his mind seemed to be punctured by a voice that sounded rather firm. It was Mitsu's Lucario, telling Kilik that she was feeling ill and that he was going to take her to the Pokemon Center. "Thanks, Lucario," he said mostly to himself. He was slightly worried, she had been showcasing extreme cases of head pain lately. He blushed at the thought of being "her suitor", as Lucario had put it, but he couldn't exactly deny that fact. Kilik crossed his arms and cleared his throat.
"Professor Rowan," Kilik began, "Kas and I came here in hopes of getting a Piplup and a Chimchar, respectively of course," the boy looked around and sighed, "But it appears like they're all gone...Guess we're too late, Kas..." he looked very defeated at this fact and sat down on the lab floor, drawing small circles on the ground. "No point in even coming here." He sighed and looked off to the side.

"To Goldenrod!" Mazarin cheered, tossing Sharpedo into the water. "I figure I go halfway there with you, Sharpedo, and then the rest of the way with Murkrow!" He climbed on top of the Shark Pokemon and positioned himself comfortably before Sharpedo took off like a bullet through the water. Mazarin had to hold on tight - he hadn't surfed on Sharpedo in quite some time and he had to admit that he had forgotten how fast it could get. "Whooo!" he cheered, clinging onto the shark's dorsal fin for dear life. One slip and he'd be skipping along the water like a pebble. He was really looking forward to this PokeThlon in Johto, and he had to wonder what exactly the events at this place were. The man in Canalave mentioned it was like the olympics, so he was sure there were different categories...I'll just look for myself once I get there!

"A Dragonair, eh?" Toku asked. "Interesting. Primeape, use a Brick Break attack!" The Primeape repeatedly beat its fists against its chest before raising its right arm and rushing at a breakneck speed towards Krystal. Nina appeared relatively unimpressed. "Krystal," she began, "don't let that monkey touch you. Wash it away with a Surf attack!" With a quick nod, Krystal flew into the air and summoned up a tremendous wave of water; she unleashed it upon the Primeape, who had no method of escape. As a result, he was caught in the wave, being swept along by the current. "Primeape, get ahold of yourself! Get out of that water, and--"
"Krystal, get that Primeape while it's vulnerable! Thunderbolt, now!" Flapping her head-wings quickly, Krystal's body began flashing from its normal colors, to a bright yellow; it started out a bit slowly at first, but she began flashing faster as more electricity built up inside of her body. Eventually, her entire body glowed pure yellow; it was a second or two after that when she appeared to explode in electricity, loosing a terrific amount of electric energy throughout the Gym, much of it striking the wave of water that had swallowed up the Primeape. When the water had spread and evened out, a knocked-out Primeape lay sprawled out on the Gym floor; Nina couldn't help but feel sorry for it. Maybe I overdid it a little...? Nah. Impossible. Toku recalled his Pokemon, feeling a bit ashamed that it had been taken out so quickly. "Go ahead, my dear," Nina said, Krystal descending and returning to her side. "It's your move." Toku appeared a bit irritated. "Silence!" he said. "I will not have you humiliate me in my own Gym! Go, Hitmonlee!" Releasing his second and last Pokemon, a Hitmonlee appeared on the field.
"Ah, a potential challenge," Nina commented. "Ready, Krystal?"

The first thing Miharu did after dressing and getting breakfast the next morning was check on the whirlpool situation, and she was distressed to find that they were just as bad as they'd been yesterday, if not worse than before. Feeling rather defeated, Miharu headed outside, glaring up at the bright, clear sky in annoyance. It was a beautiful day in Cianwood; why should the whirlpools surrounding the Whirl Islands be acting up? She felt a little like the universe didn't want her to leave this place, but truth be told, she felt antsy to return to the mainland. At one point, she walked right out to the furthest pier where the ferry was anchored and stood there for about ten minutes, holding Starrie's PokeBall in her hand while she tried to gather up the courage to send out the Starmie so that they could Surf back to Olivine, where their next gym challenge awaited them. The sailors in the area were watching her closely and Miharu was sure they'd try to stop her if she attempted to start Surfing, so reluctantly she gave up, and instead clipped the sphere back onto her belt and headed back down towards the beach, feeling as though she'd spent the better half of her last three days there.
Right away Miharu noticed that this time, the beach wasn't vacant, as there were people milling about, some of them probably trainers due to their having Pokemon with them. One young man was walking with a pair of Krabby, both of which were scuttling along sideways behind him, apparently enjoying the sandy beach quite a bit. A little ways from her, a girl was throwing a frisbee for her Growlithe to chase down, and Miharu couldn't help but be impressed at how well the canine could jump and snatch it right out of the air. She wondered how many of these people were stranded here, like she was as she wandered along the beach. She'd removed her shoes and socks and was enjoying the feeling of the sand between her toes. She had her swimsuit on underneath her jeans and red-violet tank top, and though it was a good day for a swim, she wasn't sure she felt like going in the water, as she hadn't fully given up on the idea of trying to have Starrie surf her across. I guess it wouldn't be an issue if I had a larger water Pokemon, she thought, now wandering along the water's edge.
Suddenly a frisbee landed with a splash in the water just in front of her, and Miharu turned to see the Growlithe bounding towards her. It skidded to a stop a few feet from her, its tongue hanging out and tail wagging, though it whined slightly at the piece of plastic now submerged a few feet out. It took a moment, but Miharu recalled that Growlithe was a fire Pokemon and would therefore not like the water. "Would you like me to get it for you, boy?" she asked, to which the pup replied with an excited bark. Miharu smiled at him and slipped out of her jeans, tossing them along with her shoes to the side where they'd stay dry while she went after the lost frisbee. It didn't take very long for her to retrieve it, and she shook as much of the water from it as she could before handing it back to the very happy Pokemon. "You're welcome," she giggled, shivering a little, as the water had been colder than she thought.

Sasha frowned at Keegan's comment, which was much more backhanded than she would have liked. "Merci, I suppose." Perhaps Keegan could stand to have some education in manners like Sasha did when she was a child. Then again, if it wasn't gruff or somewhat blunt, it wouldn't be Keegan.
"Au revoir, z'hen." Sasha said when Mia declined the offer to join them. As the girl walked out of the Pokemon Center, Sasha turned to her red-headed companion. "So, where should we go to peek z'his fight?" She placed a hand on her chin and pondered. "Do we just go outside and start sweenging or what?"
------
"W-W-W-W-WAI-WAI-WAI-WAI-WAIT WAIT!" Mike shouted. "I just remembered something really important!" "Ponyta, halt!" Blaine commanded. The little horse skidded to a halt, looking back at its trainer, confused. "What's the matter, Mike? What happened?" "I forgot something important." Mike repeated as he rummaged through his bag. "A-ha!" With a disc in hand, the boy hopped down onto the arena and hurried over to his Pokemon. Camerae looked up at his trainer, its eyes full of curiosity. "Heh, you're going to love this." With a chuckle, Mike placed the disc on the Omanyte's head. It began to glow. Camerae's eyes widened as the energy and knowledge from the disc was imparted onto him. "You good? You-yeah, you're good." Mike quickly exited the arena and motioned for the battle to continue.
"What was that move you just taught him?" Blaine asked, raising an eyebrow. Mike shrugged.
"You don't need to worry about it. Just a small move, nothing too importan-Camerae Surf attack."
It was like Mike flipped a switch inside the Pokemon's head. Camerae snapped into readiness, and wiggled its little tentacles as it began to channel its energy. With a loud gurgle like cry, Camerae summoned a wave of water that rose before him and washed across the battlefield. Steam poured from the ground as the watery attack chased after the now fleeing Ponyta. Eventually, it ran out of room to run and was slammed by the wave. Fortunately for both Blaine and the Ponyta, the attack wasn't tremendously strong, and the intense heat from the volcano took a bit of the edge off.
"A bit underhanded, but that wasn't too bad." Blaine nodded in approval. "Ponyta, Stomp again!" he ordered. "That little Pokemon has spirit. I'd like to see it when it evolves."
"Thanks! Camerae, Withdraw!" Mike shouted, knowing that the attack would do next to nothing to his Pokemon's hard shell. He didn't want to get too cocky. Blaine could have very well outfitted this Ponyta with something crazy to put him in his place. After all, he was far from inexperienced.

Keegan didn't say anything as Mia left; he just offered a small wave before looking back at his pink-haired companion, oblivious to the fact that his previous comment to her might have actually been somewhat hurtful. He followed her out of the Center, looking around at the numerous people all around them. "Sweenging?" he repeated, chuckling a bit. "Naw. As fun as I think that would be, I'm sure it would get us into more trouble than its worth." He nodded in the direction of a policewoman out on patrol with a pair of obedient-looking Growlithe. "There's probably some place around here where people gather for battles. It is a pretty busy city, after all." They'd started wandering in a random direction, since neither of them knew where to go.
As luck would have it, if you wanted to call it luck, a group of teenage boys happened to pass by them just then, one of them shouting loudly about "an awesome bout in the square." Apparently, a couple of trainers were settling some sort of score there, and it just so happened to be the major battling grounds of Jubilife City. "Wanna go check it out? I'm sure we'll find people to battle in this so-called 'Square' place." ===== The Growlithe's trainer had caught up to them as Miharu had knelt down beside the Puppy, and was now patting his head. "Hey, thanks for grabbing that for him," the girl said briskly, her breath a bit ragged due to all the running she'd been doing. "He isn't the biggest fan of water."
"I can see that," Miharu said, standing up and brushing the sand from her knees. "It wasn't a problem." She was a little surprised at how friendly the Growlithe was acting towards her, as she was sure that she'd read about them being incredibly loyal to their trainers and untrusting of strangers. She looked up at the girl, who, not surprisingly, was at least a foot taller than she was. Her hair was shoulder length and light brown, and she wore cutoff shirts and a T-shirt with a faded logo for some company or product Miharu didn't know. "Are you a trainer?" she asked before she could stop herself.
The girl nodded. "Yep, I am, why, do you wanna battle or something?"
"Sure, if you're up to it."
"You bet, we're always up for a match! How about we make this a double battle, with two Pokemon each?" she asked. The Growlithe at her side barked eagerly, seemingly interested in battling.
"Yeah, that sounds great," Miharu agreed, tugging her jeans back on. "I'm Miharu, by the way."
"I'm Sydney," the girl answered. "Let's do this!" Once they'd taken up their positions opposite each other, Sydney sent out a second Pokemon to go with her first, a Marshtomp. Miharu had only seen them in books, but she figured it would be a good challenge for the two Pokemon she'd picked.
"All right, Tingle and Aska, you two are up!" she called, releasing the Metang and Pidgeotto simultaneously. The two Pokemon studied each other for a moment, though the latter seemed a little nervous at being paired with the unpredictable Metang, but she was just going to have to deal with it. "Aska, use Quick Attack on the Growlithe! And Tingle, Confusion on Marshtomp!" Aska wasted no time in executing her attack, and within a split second she'd crossed the battlefield and had landed a sharp slash of her talons across the Puppy's chest. Tingle wasn't so responsive, which probably wasn't such a bad thing, seeing as Sydney had called for her Marshtomp to use Mud Shot, and for her Growlithe to use Helping Hand. The Mud Fish Pokemon sent a stream of thick, gooey mud headed right at the Metang, who just so happened to fire off its Confusion attack at the same time. The effect was the muck being stopped in mid-air, and it splattered against the sand harmlessly. Not bad, Miharu thought, not sure if it had been an accident, or on purpose. Either way, I'm sure I don't want to know...

The two conscious bullying pokemon tumbled back in the cascade of bubbles. Ardah and Kalikea followed in the wake of the wave slamming the corphish with a pair of tackle attacks sending the two rolling back.
"Alright!" Crush exclaimed. "Show these aggros who tha big kahunas really are on this beach!"
The ruffians caught their balance and set their claws in the sand to take the next attacks. Their chitin hardened with concentration just as the bronzor and corsola advanced in for a second set of tackle attacks. There was clap of thunder that followed as the four pokemon collided. The thick defenses of the pokemon sending them each a step back. The corphish launched themselves forward then their powerful claws clamping down on the Crush's pokemon. The third corphish seemed to begin to stir from its sleep.
Crush seeing this pulled a pokeball from his waist bag. "No you don't little cuz." And lobbed it towards the corphish.
