- "We have visuals! Go go go!"
"It's time to flee!"
There were two paths that night, but few were aware of this fact. The majority remained where they were, locked in the school as the Demon National Guard swept in to secure the perimeter. Cannibals, the word on everyone's lips, fled with their kin and gained a few new faces to join their ranks.
Where they went is anyone's guess. Some whisper of underground cities and caves dug by hand. Others say they remained, that the infected are double agents, plotting the return of the wicked Queen. The National Guard could find no traces, their path gone cold. As quick as they came, they went, though their impression left was just as large, if not larger, than the havoc they had wrought.

For those that remained, by choice or by fate, their lives were only going to get tougher. All infected, no matter the stage, were shuttled off to a quarantined hospital floor. There they were observed and cared for as a cure was created. It took over a month before a solution was found. This meant that any who were infected turned, even for a short time, into cannibals. For weeks or even days, those unfortunate enough to be infected during the crisis lost themselves.
The solution was a 'cure', if it can be called that. Supressant is more accurate, though to keep the public fear and stigma down, it has been called a 'cure'. This cure has to be taken regularly, and missing a dose will cause some symptoms to flare. Which symptoms and how bad varies by the individual. Missing multiple doses would be an issue, therefore it was for the 'safety' of those individuals who were infected that a special tracking (essentially gps) spell was attached to them. The spell cannot be removed without great effort, and any tampering with trigger the spell. The National Guard will immediately move in to that position and capture the individual. This also happens if someone misses three doses of the cure/medicine.
Of course, this is for the safety of the individual.
Asphodel's damage was incomprehensible. Structurally, the school needed many repairs. Magically, more wards and stronger spells were put in place to help aid the Headmistresses in keeping everyone safe. Extra money was funneled in for protection, Ava's original requests for more help approved almost immediately as the rebuilding projects began.
The other damage, the one done to the public and most importantly to the students, was harder to heal... The Academy went on Hiatus. While the dorm and boarding areas remained accessible, no classes were being taught.
Perhaps the only relief many found was in the news of Annabelle - the brave head caretaker who risked her life to keep those locked in the bunkers safe. Annabelle was found, half alive and gravely injured, by the National Guard. While she has remained head caretaker, rehab for the wounds is slow and arduous. Therefore, Aten has taken over her duties for the time being.
It is only now, months later, that classes have started again. Below will never be the same.
