Ian decided this was probably not the best way to be welcomed into Deus Ex Machina.
Treading water, he carefully maneuvered himself through the icy seawater, accidentally inhaling a mouthful and promptly spitting it right back out. He pushed himself forward a few yards and then ducked, a wave crashing over him noisily.
He really hoped Dorian and Quinn were all right.

The water was freezing. And now, unfortunately, so was Ian.
{ I told you you should have listened to me. }
"Yeah, yeah," Ian grumbled through chattering teeth, trying to swim the next several yards towards the portal, which he could see just a short distance away. "Next time I'll remember that if I ever get caught battling giant spiders on a cruise ship."

He was almost there - almost - almost...
And then he was grabbing onto the rocks, hauling himself up and out of the water and through the portal.

He saw the light. Not the bad kind, but the good kind. Hitting raft, he pulled himself up, gave a tired wheezed and flipped the ocean the bird. "Yeah, keep that in mind next time you mess with Rainstar." Dakota hissed as he hit the portal. Time to find his girlfriend too. Hopefull Candace made it back.

He had been too preoccupied in searching that he hadn't been looking - and it was only after Ceres came stumbling up onto the little rocky outcropping dragging a very familiar person with her that Gale realized what had happened.
He suddenly could not breathe properly.
Stumbling across the rocks, he nearly fell a few times, dropping down once and cutting his hand on a sharper piece, but he didn't feel it - or if he did, he didn't pay attention to it, could not pay any attention at all except to the small figure in Ceres' arms with drenched hair and a pale face, her eyes closed.
Was she breathing? She had to be breathing, she had to be moving, she had to still be alive -
He finally got close enough to see properly, dropping down to his knees and reaching out a hand towards her, grabbing her shoulder.
"Stormy," he said. "Stormy."
She was so cold. He sucked in a painful breath and then pressed his lips together, and in one instant he had one hand beneath her legs, the other under her back and had swept her up into his arms, carrying her princess-style, trying to just stay calm, to stay focused, and to not panic, because panicking served no purpose except to make him feel as though his heart were clattering out of his chest.
"Time to go home, Watson," he told her quietly, and leapt through the portal.

She was pulled up from oblivion (again, again, how many times did this one make?--) with a splutter, coughing up the sea, eyes glazed over. Clarice's face was there, and there wasn't a ruby in sight. The only shadows on her were the gentle ones beneath her neck, within her hair, behind her ears. "Clarice," she wheezed, settling onto Raeg, Balthazar hooked to his edges-- a fact which he was not so sure he was fond of, Raeg was significantly larger, and perhaps he had a complex-- She shook her head like a dog shedding water, rocking the Raeg-raft a little. "I--" Clerise swallowed the lump in her throat, gears turning. "I get that reference," she muttered, licking her lips after the kiss, and wrapped her finger around Clarice's wrist, tight like a vice. "Don't freeze, please."

Jake only watched as the creature was struck down, everything around them dissipating. Somehow, he wasn't surprised. When did a mission ever turn out the way it was supposed to? Though he did notice that from all the fighting, the ship had taken on substantial damage. Or was it because the ship wasn't supposed to be something tangible either? Even if the food and items remained solid, it didn't bring him much comfort. ... ok, maybe he was a little glad he didn't spend a grand on something intangible. Just a little.
When the death lead dispatched of what remained for the supposed captain, he had... somewhat expected the ship to sort of disappear too, but not quite like this. He felt it before he saw it, the ice cold water beneath him, and he gasped as he nearly went under. Though his injuries had substantially healed, it took all his effort battling against the waters threatening to keep him here. It was then he noticed the portal.
... Of course. Who ever made things easy for them?

The ocean was unforgiving, and he almost wanted to give up, each movement making all his injuries ache again. After this... he was probably not going to be allowed to leave the infirmary for another few weeks until they had fully and properly healed.
That is... if he made it back alive.

With the last of his strength, he had... managed to make it to the portal... somehow. It was kind of a miracle. Though instead of going in he just kind of lay there. Don't mind him guys, just... catching his breath. Dying a little inside.

It was right there, just...right there. Her arms needed to start working instead of trembling. Her legs needed to remember how to kick instead of being numb. And her lungs needed to remember how to sort out salt water and air.
Stormy indeed was breathing, albeit sputtering and shaking by the time Gale held her. It had been two people carrying her prior, two whose faces escaped her despite her attempts to blink past the water that had gotten in her eyes. Two she needed to find again when this was all over, two to thank and apologize to; as clearly she needed to be apologetic for needing to be rescued. But for now she found herself swept up in another one's arms, and like a child she clung to him, her normally cold hands frigid after the unceremonious dunk. Her head lolled against her chest limply, still feeling like she was being tossed about on the inside.
"Game's afoot," she mumbled as they entered the portal.

Lacing her fingers with Clerise's, she looked away, smile fading as she stared into the waves. "I won't. But do me a favour, Red?" She glanced back down and there was something hard in her eyes, "Don't you ever give up like that again." Her hand gripped the other woman's tightly. "I can't rescue a corpse."hp: 47/60 roll: 2/3

It seemed everyone so far had made it back safely, so there was no need for Jason to stay around any longer. He couldn't see anyone in distress either.
Quickly he removed his jacket, shirt and shoes to make himself lighter, then dived into the cold depths of the ocean. It roared and surged all around it, but he was doing pretty good all things considering, able to get a few breaths of air before he was dunked.
