Weren't we going to open this term with the Masquerade? If so, time's running a bit short...the PJ party's going to have to be shut down really soon now, just so we can set up the Masque.

The party is basically done, the contest will finish tomorrow. I haven't looked at the other threads though. Do we have plans yet for the Masquerade?
I realize there will be a dance hall, that much is obvious.

From what I remembered, we never came around with event ideas for the Ball. Maybe have members dress their avatars a little fancier perhaps...but other than that its pretty much moot from there. sweatdrop Hopefully at least someone votes in the contest thing...so far I've got nada.

If it falls around Christmas, we might be able to orchestrate a Secret Santa--put in your names, you'll get mixed up and matched with others by a mod, and then you need to anonymously send the gift of an item less than 1,000 gold to your recipient...eh. Might work.

I absolutely love that idea. Yup, the event goes through Christmas, so we can definitely do that. I just remembered that we did plan the dance hall to be a Masquerade theme. I think we should start with that thread. Any ideas as to what we should put in the thread? I think we may have to delay the event for Tuesday or Wednesday if we want it to be decent. It also gives us enough time to close down the contest and pillow fight.

Miss Love Tantei Gah! gonk The new term is approaching in approx. 3 days! In that same day, the Hogwarts Express and the Christmas Event Starts! I don't think we've prepared enough to start a new term. I think I'm going revamp the Hogwarts Express that we have in the Around Hogwarts and set it for the Start of Term. Anyone out there panicking like I am? Maybe I'm too excited... rofl Warning: I typed as I read so this message may be a whole bunch of ideas going crazily everywhere. Anyway I'm retyping another message so besides the last few questions at the bottom this post can be ignored Sorry I have not been around but between school and a lot of other things, time was scarce. Not to mention I lost my Wi-fi connection. Well anyway thanks guys for taking the initiative. Since term is supposed to start today I will get Professor A to post a message about things (Term won't be officially started today, if no one minds, instead we kick off the Masquarade on Friday) . I have just logged on so I haven't even seen the Event subforum yet but Love PMed me and as soon as I get done with this message and reading all the other stuff I'll visit that subforum. EDIT: Well I've seen the Event subforum and the first thing we need to do is officially end Pajamma Ramma (since there is still some things going on I'll set the end date for Wed) That means all the events will be closed. I'm still trying to figure out some things because the event subforum is still a bit confusing to me.. Hogwarts Express: Good thing with what you did with it. It fits perfectly and everything. A few questions (that were in my head): [x] Does Quidditch Try-Outs start today? [x] Teachers? Do we have enough?

Well as of now, we aren't anywhere near prepared to begin a new term! However I think that with all five acting mods we can get this thing together by Friday. My last post was really unorganized and just jotting down ideas, so here's more organization. These are merely my suggestions (with exception of whats happening with Adonis)Anyway this post only refers to things that affect us immediately (Start of Term and Events). Other things that I can't forget to discuss is Quidditch tryouts, teachers we have, updates/ class lists, bannings, and that's all I think for now.
Here's what I'm going to do now: Since term was supposed to start today, but various things hindered it we can start it on Friday. Right now I'll get Adonis to post an update in the Entrance Hall announcing plans for the Masque, Start of Term, and other various guild events (ie the Express)
The Events: The Pajama event is still going on, however, we are supposed to have the Masque going on right now too. Well the Masque is just going to have to start a bit late (Friday). That should give us enough time to prepare (I don't think it'll be much because it'll really make itself((Also my apologies for not being able to get online last week... I did say I'd help prepare, but things stopped me from doing that))) Pajamma Ramma 2007 officially ends WEDNESDAY. All the activities for that event will have to be closed by 4 PM Pacific time. I'm still getting the hang of the new Event subforum so I'm not sure if those threads will be locked/moved or whatever. When I'm done writing thoughts on everything else I'll add more about the other stuff about this event
Start of Term: Well the Event is the Start of Term so start of term though officially started today, won't be "observed" until Friday. I have no idea where we stand on Sorting and that's terrible on my part. I'll be looking into the Sorting Hat and Pear to see what needs to be done. I have not been with Adonis today so I don't know where the class lists stand either.
Anyone who has a problem or a concern or a suggestion about anything I just wrote PLEASE speak now... Time is really short and we can't afford right now to start bringing up concerns the day before we do something.

Masque Events and such: Dress code: Fancy dressings will be nice (perhaps as a hidden surprise we award somethign to the person with the best masque wear in the event (voted on by the mods)), but not required. Since it is a Masque the minimum required should be a masque (and there'll really cheap so no problem there) Well as Juni said a dance hall/main thread is a given...what will we call it?? It should tie into either the Hogwarts theme or the Masquerade theme... How about the Yule of the Masqued for an event title?? Then for the main thread we can call it [drawing a blank] ?? Secret Santa is something I like also (it flows in with the whole masque theme). However we'll need one or two people to help run that thing. I remember in '05 myself and another member did it and we didn't just have one set price (1K or less) we had various price ranges for the gift that a person would like to receive. If they signed up for that price range they would automatically receive something from that range, but they'd have to give something within that range also. I think we should do that also. Finally: I also propose a kinda clue thing... The idea I have is kinda like a "whodunnit" where we'll place clues throughout the event of a culprit....(this'll be the game of the event if everyone agrees) To make it more of a game though we can make it kinda of a Hangman/Charades thing where everyone gets to try to guess some parts every time a clue is released. I think each correct guess of a clue should be awarded 1 point, and for everyone who successfully guesses the Culprit we should award 15-20 points. A grand prize for the person who actually gets it first. Since this event will tie into the American New Year would you guys like to do some kind of reveal on New Year's Eve?? Suggestion for the "whodunnit": (This warped into an entire intro)Posted by Adonis(as should all the other threads) Sadly this thread should be where the house-elves celebrate for all the preparations for our Holiday festivities. However something dreadful happened the day before the Masque began! (after everything was prepared, so you'll still have your food!)All the house-elves vanished! No sign of them anywhere! Is someone playing a cruel, cruel joke?? If so, who was it?? HPGoG could never be the same without our house-elves! Help my staff and me bring back our beloved elves by solving this dreadful Mystery of the Vanished Elves! Then there'll be a post of the primary victims (notable elves), and also a place where we release the clues, one-by-one. I can get it together but I'll like an okay from everyone first (if an okay is possible, if not I'm open to any other ideas) Remember this will just be a game to tie in to everything

One final post... thing...
I was supposed to post this a long time ago, but never had the time. It concerns the bannings. Anyone involved in the process over the summer knows that banning (done the right way) is a very time consuming matter. It also takes plenty of patience. And that was only with unsorted members. Since we're trying to get term started (this includes classes, updates, thread and subforum cleanups, and now Quidditch) I feel we need to wait until January. There's a period where nothing big is happening, and I think that will give us enough time to get everything situated. The lists won't be entirely accurate until we do this memberslist cleanup. So I won't confuse anyone let me explain how things were done over the summer. I for one think that it was extremely productive and well planned out. Last time around the bannings went off in two phases: First Warning and PMs, and Second Phase: Final Warning and Banishment (w/ a template). The Warning was explaining the situation (which was the Mass Banning/Sorting). This was posted in the guild as well as PMed to all the members affected by it. We offered many reminders and times to post. All members who didn't get it done went on to PHase 2 where we again PMed them and asked for their opinions and whatnot, and when we got ignored (by some) we went on with the banning. The banning itself consisted of a message explaining how we PMed them, warned them, and now regretted to ban them etc. From what I know of the rules only members who have dreadfully broken rules (flamed someone crazily, not happened yet thank goodness) is permanently banned. Inactive members were given the choice to come back after they were banned by PMing Adonis a reason for ignoring our 40 messages (we sent a lot). IF they never PMed Adonis, well we moved on. What was basically used was a 3 strike rule. All the strikes would be instantly removed if you posted (or PMed a good enough reason). And since we were dealing with a lot of members I didn't really watch them as I should have.
I don't know how to explain it better right now but I think I conveyed the gist of it all. It was a long process so it'd be hard to explain it all. Like I said it takes time and patience to do it.

This time around I say we do the same thing. Every Head of House needs to PM all of their members reminding htem about how we feel about activity, and if they are unable to post regularly (or the minimum five a month) they should post in the Message Board. It is simply a reminder. Strike 1 begins with the members who have not posted. Anyone considered inactive (for nonexistent house-elves [never posted since joining in Sept.] this will be the final strike before the banning.) will be given a second PM (details not etched, but it'll be sweet, but the point will still be getting across. We give them a time frame Second Strike: If the PM is ignored we PM the person again describing the new position. We have simple not over zealous rules, and we understand about life and all but we'd appreciate it if you'd give us a shout out or something. Third Strike: ANother PM, and finally the banning (within a time frame. That way they'd know we were serious but in the banning we give them the opportunity to PM Adonis or whatnot to repeal the banning. That'll show us if they're going to be dedicated or not.
The PMs are not etched out right now but they'll be similiar to the situation. That long explanation is a solution for now since nothing has been done about inactivity for over a year. I had an idea for what to do in the future but it disappeared as I typed the other posts.

burning_eyes Looooong read...
Okay.
About the sorting: don't worry, Love and I have taken care of most of them. Only one person hasn't been sorted yet, and if Love can't take care of her right away I will (the only reason I left her is because I had just sorted a good long string of students...someone else gets an opportunity to put their own two sorting cents in if they want to).
We have to have a Masque? Why not any old mask in Gaia? That way there's a lot more leeway colorwise. A person could dress in all blue, or all green, or something similar instead of having to conform to the red and gold of the Masque. [Gryffindorism! That's what it is! wink ]
Whodunnit: Are all of the mods cluegivers and suspects? Or will select students be in on the suspect list as well? What I mean is this: Will an actual member be the one responsible for the elf disappearance? If so, are the only people available for this responsibility mods or can certain students also be potential culprits? They could have until New Years' Eve to put in their guesses. On that day, the answer is revealed. [I believe that at one point Angil was talking about how she wished we could bring the comic strips back...this could be an opportunity if someone wants to seize it.] If prizes are put in, the winner could be the first to figure it out, or all correct guessers could be put into a drawing for the grand prize... I'm good with that, but I don't think I could organize it. Mysteries and tying together good but tough clues aren't my thing.
Secret Santa: Will mods be included? What about the two mods pairing people up? Will they just exchange gifts with each other? Just wondering about that part.
Teachers: I think we've got four. Care of magical creatures, astronomy, defence, and herbology. I could be wrong; I haven't counted yet. I'll ask them to set up their classrooms pronto.

Adonis already is donning a Masque. xd We shall call the event YULARADE! lol jk! Its kind of hard to incorporate a title for that kind of thing. I think a French title would be fitting for the event...but I suck at french
Why don't we call the "whodunnit" a Yuletide Massacre, then again it sounds brutal.
As for the Express, I'll change the schedule a bit to accomadate the Start of Term Feast to fall on Friday instead. The PJ contest is pretty much done, just the awarding of the prizes that need to be bought by Adonis' account and then I'll lock it down.
I'll get to PMing members again to see if they'll respond, hopefully I'll have some live ones.

Yea I forgot to mention that earlier after I saw the thread... thanks for helping out with the sorting it's been a big help.
According to Love: All the lists are set except for Slytherin... so Angil if Adonis could receive that ASAP it'll be great.
I didn't know there was a traditional color!! I thought the Masque was only when people wore masks with their costumes to hide their faces. That's my definition for it... I'm not really concerned with colors right now. Not the Gaian Masque (per say) just Masquerade in general with the Masks as a theme.
The game: What I had in plan was an actual member...not a mod. I wanted the mods to be able to participate in this. I was actually going to choose to random (secret) helpers to help out and one of them actually be the culprit. The thing is everyone is a suspect because everyone is allowed to play. However the actual culprit (who will know ahead of time) will only be playing to confuse everyone else. If everyone okies it I have a general idea of how it'll work out. Of course general means I need to work out the kinks and such. I love the comic strip ideas (I wanted that for the Pajama Party and such) but I can't draw at all... and Photoshop confuses me greatly. Secret Santa: I was hoping moderators wouldn't have to head that event up this time around. I wanted moderators in general to be able to participate in this. However if it comes to that then *thinks back to those many years ago* since it's all done randomly then it really shouldn't matter since all the gifts will be giving anonymously. The Secret Santa thing is merely a whole bunch of trust. It worked last time I helped out. This event I want to move away from the moderators controlling everything. It's not really that much fun for the moderators (my opinion here) if they're doing everything behind the scenes and not getting into the action much. I would like volunteers but if volunteers don't come willingly I'll gladly "ask" someone to help out.

Regarding Quidditch tryouts - it is probably a good idea to start that right away. While there won't be any official "tryouts", it would be good if each head of house could inform their house of the game, that teams are looking to be formed, and that the first game starts on December 31st. Also, let 'em know that a trial game is currently going on and that if they wish to get some pre-season practice they should join in. Alas, currently only 2 non-moderators have even posted. razz
Since a player can play multiple positions, the minimum number of teammates is 1, and the max is 8 (1 keeper, 3 chasers, 2 beaters, 1 seeker, 1 captain) Hopefully we can get some teams before the season starts. If not, we may need to delay the season, which will be poopy.
Also, regarding secret santa... the max cost is 1000... Shouldn't there be a minimum value as well? maybe 600 or so. If people just give out parabolic scopes or blue ink, some people might be sad. I got a bruised and over-ripe apple one year from my secret santa. Cheap b*****d!

PJ Event: What items will we be getting (PM them to me please) I like Yularade but then when I think about it it reminds me of a parade... get it?? LOL. I like that name though.
Yeah... we can call it the Yuletide Mystery (not Massacre) I like that.
(Does that mean you're fine with the events planned?)
