I like them both, but if it's any help - the second option seems warmer than the cardboard texture.

Audley How far ahead in the timeline are Neila and Adwen, anyway? Raesha looks so much more primal than Neila ... although that could be a class thing - I suppose I should read your character biographies first (; The bio's probably would clear up some things. wink I most certainly don't mind answering any questions you have though. :3 Those bios are certainly not well written or complete. Just something I threw up two years ago for ease of commissioning. whee ;; By the time Neila and Adwen show up on the scene, no one knows for sure weather Raesha still lives or not. She's spent a couple hundred years wrecking havoc on human and elven kind alike and earned herself (and her kind) a terrible reputation before dissapearing from the scene. Raesha's exploits are largely responsible for the racial hatred and fear Neila experiances in her travels. As for thier appearant differences, Neila was raised in high society. Well born and learned, she fled to find her heart. Raesha, on the other hand, is the product of rape. She was raised reclusivly by her half-crazed mother, then forced to witness her mother's murder and barely survived her own savage attack. Later, her mind snaps as she herself is subjected to rape and goes on a killing spree. Raesha never fully regains her sanity. So yes, Raesha is quite a bit more primal though thier timelines do overlap somewhat. :3

-~o..Klody..o~- need help again! blaugh which photoshop color you prefer? sorry for the "nudity" original cardboard watercolor paper I like the cardboard texture best, but it's too dark. The watercolor paper color looks better. Very cool drawing though. :3 FYI, this is better suited for the "I'm an Artist too, you know!" thread. If you're looking for C&C or just have questions about a piece you made, you should post there. 3nodding

Audley WoefulInfinity: I have to say I really love your character with the mark on his right cheek - is it a scar or a tattoo or ... something else? I probably should have included scars/tattoos/other in my question, because that's a curious part of character design, too ... Haha, that's Rivek, my baby. <3 It's a scar. Cut into his face as part of a ceremony that people of his nationality do. All children, before recieving their first weapons have to learn pain. So, they get cut somewhere - each clan has a different cut pattern. There is one cut for males and one for females. Except those who are considered nobility get two - because not only do you have to experience your own pain but the pain of those whom you serve as a leader. It's not meant to be lasting or anything, more symbolic.... but, Rivek fell victim to infection. So, yeah, that sucked for him - scar for life... XD; He should have lost his eye in the process, but he's a hawk-mage.. and birds tend to have pretty stunning vision. His magic saved him. He's naturally left-eyed/handed/etc, though, so his right is a little weaker. His tattoos is on his arm. XD He doesn't show anyone.

Raesha, I've just started reading, erm, Raesha's biography (that sounds odd) and I already feel bad for her - "crappy hunter"? Poor Raesha. I've also begun looking through the galleries linked on Raesha's page - you've got some fantastic pieces of her. If I keep going will I find any images of Raesha prior to the attack? Or of Nafraeja? Are there any other kinds of elf in your storyverse? Raesha, Neila, and Adwen are all different races, so ... can we expect to meet any others in your characters/story? (; WoefulInfinity Haha, that's Rivek, my baby. <3 It's a scar. Cut into his face as part of a ceremony that people of his nationality do. Or will he come across other scarred nobles in the future? Imagine that - I'd probably take a step back if I walked into a room full of people with the same scar as me (; Meanwhile, might I press you to tell me more about hawk-mages (assuming there is more to tell, which I imagine there is)? Apart from the bird-related tendencies, is there anything else to it?

(; Yeah, Raesha really got the short end of the stick. xd ;; She was only the equivlent to a 12 year old when she was orphaned and left for dead so she really didn't have much for survival skills. xp ;; I only have a couple images of her as a child, and Nafraeja appears in the background of an image or two, but I've never actually commissioned a piece of her. The main elven races in my story are the Ouranos (sky elves (winged)), Helios (sun elves), Dendros (forest elves), and the Petros (stone elves (dark elves)). I have previously said Avariel and Drow just for simplicity's sake as they bear enough resemblemce. ^_^;; Other than elves, humans are the main attraction, though there is the typical slew of other races. :3 On an entirely different note, it's nice to have you in the guild Audley. smile You are stimulating conversation and I always wanted to guild to be more active. whee ;;

xD xD...man, you have everything in a nice order in your stories.....Yumeh has 4 main worlds and some lesser ones for a one-time rp only xD xD.....and they're still a bit chaotic>.>.....especially the first one, Adoria, where my Shavrisjada takes part xD xD...there;s over 120 races total, around 20 main countries , and large part of it is made for a comedy-style stories/rps....Shavrisjada with it's gloomyness looks a bit strange there xDDD....but in the world where the God of Darkness makes war to the main Goddess because she accidentally burned his beloved petunias when she tried to hit her future husband with a thunder, everything is possible xD xD

Shavrisjada is an unusual name - where did you get that/how did you come up with it? Actually - that's a good question for anyone with, really. Name origins - anyone care to share? (: Raesha Yeah, Raesha really got the short end of the stick. xd ;; She was only the equivlent to a 12 year old when she was orphaned and left for dead so she really didn't have much for survival skills. xp ;; I only have a couple images of her as a child, and Nafraeja appears in the background of an image or two, but I've never actually commissioned a piece of her. A lot of my characters never were children, so I don't often have to think about how events as a young person shape one's life, but - if you'll excuse my colloquialisms - it's dead cool that you've worked all of that out for Raesha. I'll have to keep an eye out for the pieces where she appears in the background. Does Raesha have any other surviving semi-immediate family? I'm sure she wouldn't be at all thrilled to meet a grandparent. One more question and then I'll stop (; Are your elven races existing ones? Like ... in mythology or a game or something like that? Quote: On an entirely different note, it's nice to have you in the guild Audley. smile You are stimulating conversation and I always wanted to guild to be more active. whee ;; Thank you (: It's nice to be in the guild; I had been lurking around for quite some time before I finally requested membership - I don't know, I think I was just being a bit of a wimp prior to then, worrying about what people would think of my incessant ramblings etc. (; Meanwhile, I'm always interested in how people construct their characters and the stories that go with them (and vice versa) - I imagine people will get bored of "ooh, so how did you decide on that?" eventually (;

(: well....my main character in the story is named Shavris....and at the time I was thinking out the name, my favorite author was David Eddings....I was ridding the Belgariada series, where the main character was Belgarion, and just used the similar idea for my title xD xD....the other way I reffer to all the things about my story is Little Dreams, and that's from where this account's name came xD xD Audley Meanwhile, I'm always interested in how people construct their characters and the stories that go with them (and vice versa) - I imagine people will get bored of "ooh, so how did you decide on that?" eventually (; ask as much as you like, I love this kind of questions xDDD

I usually just take names as they come to me. My characters usually end up telling me their names themselves. Sometimes I do go for the whole "special meaning" thing when naming them. For instance, my fire elemental Eithne's name means "Little Fire" and her love, my water elemental's name, Nen, means "Ancient Waters" in Swahili. I like Swahili - even had a horse named Farasi (horse) in one of my old, old RPs. But past that, I just see what comes naturally. For places, I have Vionelle in the Petrovian Empire and Kanaea and Borria, neighboring nations in another story.
My character names usually are more on the common side since I don't write HIGH fantasy, but more realistic fantasy. But then, I have less common names or variations mixed in. So in my main novel, Vionelle, I have Evalie, Tani, Jacob, Ryan, Cayden, and Rosanna, for instance. Kind of a mix of common and uncommon, though the uncommon don't sound completely out of place. And I try to make names that people can actually pronounce. I don't know how many stories I've read with really odd names that I get distracted with.
My characters come from stories I write, generally. I've joined in on a few of those "Create a Character" things, but primarily the ones I really love and care about are from novels in progress and stuff. My first one was "The Key to the City," which I got inspired for after playing Vagrant Story, because I loved the premise of a city being so much more than just brick and stone. Basically, it told the story of an old prophecy about someone who would emerge after something devastating befell the city, and would unlock all that the city had to offer. So you had one power hungry guy, a group of people who had grown up underground, determined to protect the city, and the few people who unwittingly got involved in it all. It ended with the two love interests being forced to separate - the guy, John, was physically bound to the city and couldn't leave and yet the girl, Elle's life would certainly end if she stayed. Heh heh...I'm mean, but I love tragic stuff like that.
And so a year later, I decided to write a novel about the city, but set it many generations before, before that prophecy had even come about. I had alluded to the past several times in the original story, and decided to write about those events. And that story has really become a lot bigger than I even intended. I hope it'll have an end sometime.
My other big stories that are unwritten involve a love affair between a fire and water elemental who can never touch because they'll dissolve into steam, as well as another story involving a group of people with innate mental abilities and having to go up against someone bent on their destruction, not knowing that one of their own is a traitor. I actually have that one heavily detailed in my outline of it, so I just need to start writing!
I have no real goals to publish anything....I just love creating. It usually starts with an initial small idea, something general, and then I'll outline a chapter and then write it. And as I'm writing, I get ideas for the next. So I take it chapter by chapter, having a general direction in mind usually, but many times changing things because of my characters. It's so often that the supporting characters end up being much more important than the main ones in my stories. And there've been many times where I think one thing, but then as I'm writing, realize I'm completely off!

and the names of my characters....I have a few ways of choosing them, it depends on what I need at the time...most common, I use latin dictionary, or the 'dictionary of angels, including the fallen ones'...especially the second one, with the description of domains of each angel, to fit the personality...but I use it mostly in my more angelic worlds>.>....other ways are just playing with names from the book I've read, or the so-called 'hard way'...I pick the number of syllabes I want, pick the first syllabe at random, and add letters as long as it takes for the name to sound good xD xD.... also, there is a so-called 'easy way for idiots' I sometimes use....it's just sending messeges to my friends with 'listen, I've got a character who's like this and this, how would you name him?' and then I find the proposition that sounds best, and play with it xDDD
